Interval between Pearson VUE registration and CertView Registration

Refering to [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=316] and [https://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/ocp_interface.home] seem to indicate a lag of up to 7-10 days for information to migrate from Pearson VUE to be accessible for Certview.
As an implication for this I have counselled it may be correct to wait for up to 7/10 days after successful Pearson VUE registration for Oracle before attempting to register for Certview?
Is this delay in fact necessary or is it over-cautious ?

It will take approximately 7-10 days for data to be transferred from Pearson VUE to CertView. We hope to bring this down in the future, but currently, you should allow 7-10 days.
However, if a candidate has previously taken exams at Prometric, they can go ahead and authorize in CertView - even if they have just set up their Pearson VUE web account. However, since it will take 7-10 days for the Pearson VUE info to be reflected in CertView, they should authorize in CertView with their profile information from Prometric. If a candidate updates information at Pearson VUE, and does not authorize with CertView for 7 days, it is best to be cautious and go ahead and wait the 10 days. At this point, the information in CertView may be old or may be new, so better to wait and know that the info has been updated.
Alternatively, if a candidate has difficulty with CertView authorization and enters erroneous information 3 times, the account will be referred to our service team who will process the authorization manually and should have it sorted out in about 3 working days.

  • Question about Pearson Vue registration

    Hi All,
I read some of the threads here and it sounds like there were some problems merging exam history with Pearson Vue.
I'm OCP certified and I had done my exams with Prometric. I registered for a web account on the Pearson Vue website and i'm not waiting for an email. During the registration process, there was a question asking if I was certified and I said yes but the prometric ID didn't get accepted.
I'm sure a lot of people has gone through that same process...After you got your email, were you able to see your exam history?
    Thanks.

Thanks. The problems occur if you take examinations under 2 different Oracle Testing Ids.
The result of this is the Oracle Certification Database see the owners as 2 different entities and if exams from both are required for a certifcation that would not be delivered.
So it is kind of important (actually near vital) your Pearson VUE account has you Oracle Testing Id. matching the Prometric Id you used in previous tests.
Now with the answers you've given you may find it gets corrected 'automatically' .... but if the 2 are different it seems to give problems downstream with the merge.
I am a bit unclear what is meant by I am not waiting for an email. Does this means you registered with Pearson VUE twice?
    Now while
    Patience is a virtue,
    virtue makes a saint,
    Saints are a football team
    And I'm sure Pompey aint
is not true as Pompey have avoided liquidation via administration patience is a virtue in this.
When someone who registers with Pearson VUE who has previously tested with Prometric one of 3 things happens (sometimes because of the form):
    - They register saying they have not tested with Oracle Before:
---- They then get a New Oracle Testing Id and take exams and wonder why certifications do not occur as they expect .. and eventually they get a merge. Thankyou for increasing the exam costs.
    - They register with Pearson VUE, say they've tested before, enter their old Prometric Id, wait for the email saying all is sorted and they are abl to register and take exams.
---- This is fairly seamless with a 3 or 4 day delay.
    - The say they've tested before but do not enter an Oracle Testing Id.
---- My understanding is registration occurs and the're Oracle Testing Id. typically is updated with the correct old Pearson VUE automatically. But I cant be sure of this. I think some people say this has happened. If this happens they are find, if it doesn't they are stuffed.
The pearson VUE history will only ever show exams taken with Pearson VUE. It does not know about Certifications, only exams.
Oracle Certview system will show exams taken with Prometric and Pearson VUE. It is derived from the Oracle Certification Database which was initialized from Prometric history. Certview knows about exams and Certifications.
Access to Certview is obtained by your Oracle SSO being account linked with your Oracle Testing Id though a Certview Profile. Certview Profiles are updated via the Pearson VUE website updating the your account which has your oracle Testing Id.
These systems are not real time linked and their are delays while batch updates occur.
Having a single Oracle Testing Id. makes all this go well. Having 2 means chaos results.

  • Merging Prometric and Pearson VUE data in CertView?

Background: I passed one exam (SQL) for my OCA under Prometric last month, signed up for Pearson VUE last week, and passed the second exam (Fundamentals I) just today through Pearson. I should thus qualify for OCA.
I attempted to sign up for CertView using my Pearson ID (OCxxxxxx), but it was not accepted. On my third try, I switched to my Prometric ID (PRxxxxxx), and signing up was successful. I can now see my SQL exam there, but my "Oracle Certification Program ID" is the Prometric code, not OCxxxxxx, and there is no sign of the Fundamentals test.
So my question is: will this magically resolve itself if I wait the 7-10 days promised for Pearson data to migrate over, or do I need to pester somebody to manually merge the two accounts together?
    Cheers,
    -j.

    jpatokal wrote:
Huh? As I already said, I entered my Prometric code when signing up for Pearson. I suspect as mentioned before you did not use the form correctly .... but I have an extremely strong suspicion that the dialogue sequence makes this very easy to happen.
I would hope that Oracle/Pearson VUE take that on board and takes steps to correct and find ways of reducing this happen as it is costly to correct when it does.
If Pearson goes ahead and assigns me a new ID anyway, I have no choice but to use that ID, now do I?You have a choice of not scheduling an exam until that is resolved. That may be unacceptably painful choice for some people in some circumstances. But it is probably less pain than resolving the situation later.
And you telling me to be "grateful" about Oracle's grandmotherly kindness in permitting me to waste hours groveling to support and twiddle my fingers for weeks on end while they pass the buck before they fix their own mistakes is pretty darn rich.Duplicate Oracle Testing Id's (or Prometric Id's) as they used to be have been a problem for some time [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2008/09/]. There was a real push to get people to get this resolved before moving to Pearson VUE [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=312#1] (My Account - I discovered that I have duplicate Prometric records. How can I get these merged?). While your case has arisen accidenly there appears to be some indications from the OCP Team is appeared to them people were recklessly obtaining mulitple Testing Id's and then complaining about not receiving a certificate. In fact I am almost certain I recall a comment that exams taken under different Id's was the single biggest cause of missing certficates. I suspect many people were simply losing there original Prometric Registrations, and rather than recovering them simply taking creating a new registration and taking an exam on a new Id and then effectively having go through the merge process with support effort needed by Oracle and Prometric. One could understand considering if a charge would reduce this group. I suspect others unwittingly acquired a duplicate Prometric Id. by for instance an online exam.
With the recent issue of Certview it may arguably be easier for people to realise there is an issue here, especially if Oracle changed procedures urging people registering with Person VUe who have exisiting exams to check their Oracle Testing Id is consistent. However this would not have been possilbe for you.
Please remember the Certification forum Moderator, who also happens to be the Certification Programme Manager, may take your comments in a different light, though over the course of a few months I do believe they genuinely do try to help people (and yes I think they tear their hair out sometimes at their own systems!).

  • Movement to Pearson VUE and certview from Prometric and Certmanager

This isnt so much a question as a comment ....
But I'm sometimes happy to award points.
(FYI I normally answers questions on {forum:id=459} ... and I might not revist here for a bit )
Oracle are (have?) moving to using the Pearson VUE testing vendor and using Certview rather than Cert manager as the certification reporting database:

  • Decrepencies between beta end date and Pearson VUE Booking range.

Beta's are often extended, sometimes last minute, and Pearson VUE bookable dates can differ from the oracle beta exam website due to update delays.
For one or more betas there however currently seems to be a problem discrepency:
    Refs:
    Service Request Number: 497386-622210023 &  497386-622796279

Last minute extensions to beta are quite normal; late websites updates are quite normal.
They always wait until the very last minute to extend because people hold off to the end of the beta to schedule their exams to maximize study time.  I know that *I* do it.  If they extend too early, people will simply wait that much longer to take the exam.  Since the reason they extend is because enough people haven't taken the exam, it's a vicious cycle.
A few weeks ago I took 1Z0-432 -- Oracle Real Application Clusters 12c Essentials.  I'd gotten caught up in other projects and really wasn't ready for it, but I had a voucher for the beta.  I waited until three days before the end before scheduling to see if there would be a last-minute extension.  Scheduled (and took) the exam the second to last day before the end... and then they extended it by three weeks the next day.  *sigh*  I could have used that study time.

  • Pearson Vue and Second Shots

You may know that MicroSoft is having a Second Shot offer from Jan 5 - May 2015. I paid for an exam covered by this program on Jan 5. I failed it on Jan 12, not by a lot but enough to fail. My Second Shot is not showing up in microsoft.com\learning like
it should. Some of the people at Pearson Vue don't even know what  a Second Shot is.
Any suggestions folks? Is there someone at MS that I report this to?

  • Java Certification Exams and Their Move to Pearson VUE

You may be aware that Oracle recently migrated all Sun-branded certification exams from Prometric to Pearson VUE. Here are answers to some frequently-asked questions that we've been getting recently: http://bit.ly/ORC-0596

I have the same issue, I purchased 3 exam packs from Prometric, when the new year started I was ok let's get to work, tired to schedule my first test, 70-247 I could not schedule no more, PearsonVue informed me that these vouchers are invalid for 3 tests
only for one, I went back and forth between Prometric, PearsonVue & Microsoft, Microsoft decided to take over case, but it has been since the end of the year and now we are in Feb. 2015 issue is still not resolved is it soooo hard to look at past records
and just issue single vouchers for the tests I purchased, do not know I will call them again this week, if it is not resolved I guess I will try Social Media or just cave in and ask for a refund, in which I do not want to I have worked hard studied hard, but
calling and going back and forth without no resolution is just a total was of time, I am not made of money at all.........

  • Differenece between Pearson and Prometric

    Hi All,
I want to appear in the eaxm 1z0-141, I want to ask a few questions here
1:- Is there any difference between the two testing centers other than the increase in price, and lesser availability of exam dates? (*Because with prometric i have given my first two exams and there was no issue with the dates and Pearson dose not have any availability till next 2 months, and here i basically want to know that the exam questions will also change, as i have already prepared for the exam, and has spent some money on practice exams too :-))
2:- Is it actually benificial to go for the certifications, since i am working as Oracle Technical Consultant from last three months and had been preparing for this exam before that, so now i have already done enough that's why i feel i should attempt it. But other than this the certifications like Oracle E-biz certifications need a lot of money and in return what i feel is a very little diffrence between an experience certified or non-certified E-biz Functional Consultants.
    Waiting for your replies...

Not really, and some / many testing centers may offer exams for both Prometric and Pearson VUE.
The security at a Pearson VUE center will now be higher than than required when Oracle exams were offered by Prometric; and you now find the sign in and authentication process more strict than previously.
The availability of exams is testing center dependent, and if one does not offer a exam for the next 2 months consider if there is another nearby that does. A testing center may be unable to offer exams for 2 months because of the individual circumstances, holidays, refurbishment or because they do not have latest security standard equipment required by Pearson VUE. It is more likely this is the reason rather than they have all slots booked up. It may be worth asking the Center themselves and asking from themselves why the exam is not available for 2 months.

  • Interval between sound and image!

    Hello all!
I didn't see that question on the FAQs or in the most recent topics...
On burnt DVDs via iDVD 5.0.1, I surprisingly notice a half-a-second interval between sound and image (the latter earlier), approaching the end of a long movie (45 minutes), should the movie be captured from the camera as a single clip, or should it be split into several clips in iMovie.
As if the sound encoding would result in a longer sound tape as the video tape, the movie perfectly begins and the interval progressively installs...
Any explanation or idea or tip to fix that?

they may have been in a 12-bit format!
12-bit seems to be the industry "standard" for camcorders. Both of mine came set to 12-bit. I learned about switching to 16-bit with my first one, because I read the manual. I wanted the best audio.

  • Pearson Vue and CLD

    Idle thoughts
I wonder why NI doesn't try to partner with Pearson Vue for the CLD itself, thus eliminating the need to find and travel to a proctor? I guess it would require that the Pearson Vue location have a reasonably good computer, running a clean, latest copy of LabVIEW, but other than that I don't see what other issues there would be. Pearson Vue has a pretty good reputation about maintaining testing integrity.
    Jim Haas

I'm right there with you. I let mine lapse because I was not using LabVIEW. Now I am both rusty and un-documented (so to speak) but may soon need to look for LabVIEW work.
I easily passed the CLAD and am starting to practice for the CLD again, but keeping it would have been far easier.
As for testing at PV. I think it could be done and it would make sense, but it would take more effort on the part of PV and NI than it might be worth.
    Good luck with your test.

  • 2 Testing IDs from Pearson Vue

Hi all, I'm new to this community, though I've been searching the forum in case of doubts. I read a similar problem here but it was not of much help.
Here, I have a few problems regarding my certifications. Just FYI, I'm from INDIA and appeared for my examinations at NIIT (an authorised Vue testing centre). NIIT is a IT training institute.
    1. I took my 1z0-007 (SQL) exam and 1z0-042 (Oracle 10g:Adminstaration Workshop I) from NIIT, Cannought Place and was given a testing ID: AB1234567 (not actual) and then due to a server problem at this centre since a few days I had to take the 1z0-043 (Oracle 10g:Adminstaration Workshop II) at a different NIIT centre (at South Extension) and was given another testing ID: XY0011223 (not actual). Now I've verified the exam on certview.oracle.com with the second testing ID and now I'm unable to see the details of the first two exams on pearsonvue.com. How can I verify my SQL and OCA exams on certview.oracle.com to link them with my pearsonvue account?
    2. My full name is Sree Subhash K as i wanted it to be on my certificates. The name appears correctly on my SQL and OCA score reports and pearsonvue account. My OCP score Report has my name as Sree S K. Perhaps, this might be the reason for a different testing ID, and to add to my doubts, OCP(which is now on my pearsonvue account with full name) shows the name as Sree S K. Please advise how do i get the name rectified?
All the help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sree

SreePearson VUE should be able to merge your Oracle Testing Id's.
    See: http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact/
From what you've said with regards to the names you may prefer that AB1234567 is you're preferred choice for survival; however if this is the case you might have certview issues to resolve on survival.
( XY0011223 survival might help you have less certview issues, but their is more chance of you being stuck with a name issue).
Basically Pearson VUE will need to do the merge; if there certview registration problems certview support at oracle will hopefully help. But be aware you certview profile is managed from updates from your Pearson VUE profile.
I think its too late at night for me to (try) to explain more fully.

However on positive side I myself could have booked an LPIC exam at one of 4 Testing Centres offering Pearson Vue in Kolkata so there should be little problem in getting a Oracle Certification Exam booked with Pearson Vue in Kolkata when they become available.

  • Certification from Pearsons VUE

    Hi,
I passed exam C_TAW12_70 on 13th Jan 2011 from a Pearsons VUE center at Beaverton, Oregon. I just got a printed score sheet and nothing else.
Is it true that the certificate is sent directly to the home address by SAP? (This is what I was told by Pearsons VUE customer care).
    Thanks!

  • BI 7.0 Certification from Pearson Vue

    Hello BW gurus,
I have learned BW3.5 and planning to appear for   BI7.0 Certification Exam , I believe  this  will add  weight to my Resume . Can any one explain  your  view about Pearson Vue . I heard that Certification exam is conducted by Pearson Vue .
1)Is this Computer based testing provider recently implemented or is it conducting  BW Certification Exams from the past few years, is it necessary to appear only through Pearson Vue?
    2) Is the exam from pearson vue  more experience based and are based on scenarios rather than just bookish knowledge ?
3)I am also practicing some scenarios on my system, still is there any difficulty in appearing for BI7.0 from Pearson Vue ,
Your expert advise for the above questions will help me a lot in achieving my goal .
    Thank you .

    Dear sandya p
    1) it is not necessary to go through only pearsonvue, you can also got hrough exams through
    SIEMENS
    SAP LABS
    and also many centers
2)the certification of SAP is a mixture based on both scenairo based which can be applied for all projects and also experienced which hels to solve puzzle.
Generally more priority would be given to Scenarios
3)Go through the documentrs and books from SAP like
    TBW10 Datawarehousing concepts
    TBW20 Reporting
TBW42 Adavnced Data warehousing concepts (authorization,Broadcasting, etc)
