Interview with David Vincenzetti, CEO of Hacking Team

Interview with Business InsiderNot as much in depth as I'd hoped it would be, but worth a look. I like how he skirts the question on if they disclose zero-day info to the vendors. "BI: As I understand it, finding hackable software flawsis core to your business, do you ever disclose any of the security vulnerabilities you find to vendors?DV: Zero day vulnerabilities are not core to Hacking Team’s business. The core is providing a system to law enforcement that allows surveillance in the digital space.Essential to that is a process of continuous updates to the software to assure that it can be operated securely. Zero day exploits are only one way in which clients may choose to deploy Hacking Team software."

SEOUL: Samsung Electronics is bringing forward the launch of a key premium smartphone model, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters, as the South Korean tech giant seeks to revive sales after a sluggish second quarter.The world's top smartphone maker will launch a new version of its Galaxy Note phablet in mid-August, the person said, declining to be identified due to the sensitivity of the matter. Previous versions, such as the Note 3 and 4, typically launched in September.A Samsung spokeswoman declined to comment.The mid-August launch will likely put the new Note smartphone model on the market ahead of arch-rival Apple's next iPhones. The US company is preparing for its largest initial production run for new phones so far by the end of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week...Read More

    Hi Stephanie
    Well the engineers came and checked the line and could not see any issue with it.
    The replacement hub that I had used to narrow down the issue was then rebooted and wouldn't sync so they tried their test hub and that worked. I was asked to put my origonal hub back on, the one I had removed some weeks ago as part of trying to diagnose this fault, and that worked so before leaving I was told that they would:
    - Send out a replacement hub just in case.
    - Recommend a lift a shift or rebuild of software to Wholesale. Though they did state that Wholesale might not do this as they could find no fault.
    About an hour later the hub rebooted and I had 5.2Mb sync rate, 4.5Mb throughput and a SN margin of 18/6. This is as fast as it as the line has ever been. I'm not sure what was done at the exchange as I didn't get an update.
    Sadly later that night whilst wtching something on Vision the video stream stalled and I got the same issues again in that the SN margin went down to this time 18/4.0 with lots of errors/loss of input/signal. This morning the sync speed is down to about 4.2Mb and throughput 1.94Mb and the SN margin is 18/9.
    So no further forward really.
    So either I've got 2 faulty hubs..unlikely though I suppose possible
    The DSLAM was not lift and shifted or the software rebuilt as no fault could be found.
    If the lift and shift or rebuild hasn't been done then can this be progressed?
    The only other thing is that my line is permanently in fast mode due to previous attempts by BT to resolve isssue with my Vision service when it was in  Interleave mode. I suppose this could also be contributing to the issues?
    I really do need this sorting and as I say I have another ADSL service in to the house and that is rock solid and sync's at over 5-6Mb.

    The repetitive replies to these questions were funny as well.
    What part of the Arch Linux development is the most active?
    Thomas Bächler: Definitely the package update monkeys.
    Allan McRae: Packaging.
    Aaron Griffin: Packaging is by far the most active part, followed closely by Pacman development.
    Ionut Biru: Hmmm. Packaging, packaging and packaging.
    Ronald van Haren: I suppose that is the packaging part.
    Pierre Schmitz: Definitely packaging.
    Dan McGee:  What part of Arch Linux is most active: packaging.
    Hugo Doria:  Someone mentioned "packaging" already?
    Where is development primarily focused for the Arch Linux team (the installation, pacman, etc)?
    All: Packaging.
    How I imagined this:
    OSNews: So again, in the development of Arch Linux, what is the most important aspect?
    All: Packaging, do we have to say more?

    Hi,
    Sincerely appreciate your help.  Running Windows 7 on a  Dell XPS420.  System has been very stable for years.  Before purchasing the Epson r2000, I owned an r1800 which was an excellent printer but after seven years started to exhibit paper feed problems.  The r1800 worked with all applications and I was well satisfied with the saturation, contrast, etc. printing mostly 8x10 and 11x17 prints.
    Thank you for the information about the # of installs for PS E11, will try uninstall/reinstall this morning.
    Will let you know how things go.

    Hello
    My name is Shawn, I am a high school student in junior year and we are doing a project where reach out to a individual who's profession is the field of work that we are most interested in. I myself am very interested in software engineering and would hope
    someone wouldn't mind if I were to ask them a couple of questions about their job as a software engineer. I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Thank you

On the side, Jason maintains his own IT consulting firm, has a family, and manages to make the most of Vermont (proof: when I called, he told me he had been up in the mountains over the weekend).
    When we found out thatJason, the SpiceHead who's in charge of theVermont SpiceCorps, worked for a power distributioncompany, we had to learn more. How many surge protectors does he use? If the systems go down, does the power go down? How do you update the power grid? Does he have any Internet of Things smart sensors lying around? And what does IT's energy bill look like when you're the ones in charge of the power?For a full audio recording and podcast of our interview with Jason, see...

  • Arch Linux newsletter: Featuring an interview with Judd Vinet.

    Is time again for another interview, this one will feature in the newsletter scheduled for release on December 3, 2007. This time, the interview will be, with the creator and former leader of the Arch Linux Operating System, Judd Vinet. Following the style of the interview with Aaron Griffin, the ones asking the questions will be the community. Please, read below for the guidelines.
    Guidelines: (Please, follow them)
    * You may post as many questions as you want, just try to put them all in a single post.
    * You may post humor questions, but please, try to include serious questions as well.
    * This thread needs to be kept clean, so don't go Off-Topic, or Dusty will have no mercy on us. (Maybe a Taco will make him reconsider)
    * apeiro can ask Judd Vinet any questions he feels he would like to hear answered.
    * phrakture is not banned from asking neither.
    * If you bought Judd Vinet's leather pants, you can't ask for your money back.
    Now, on with the questions.
    Thanks
    Eduardo "kensai" Romero

    I know is hard to make good questions to Judd Vinet, even harder when the community didn't had the same level of interaction they had with Aaron Griffin. As he were more accessible to the users. Judd Vinet is not to blame for this, he just didn't had enough time. So, this post is to ask you guys, to keep posting questions, think hard of any good questions the media would like to ask Judd Vinet because of his retirement as a leader of the Arch Linux OS.
    If not enough questions are asked by the end of this week, I'll have to proceed with another interview and postpone Judd Vinet's interview for the next scheduled newsletter after that, December 17, 2007. So please, cooperation is needed, this is going to be the first interview after his retirement as the leader of Arch. Thanks.

  • Can I do an ichat interview with garageband

    Hey everyone
    I was wondering if I could do an ichat interview with garageband if the other person is on a PC?
    Thanks
    Bevan

    Windows is an operating system, not a software program. And iChat isn't available for Windows, that's why I asked.
    If the other person is using the AOL instant messenger, you can do video and audio chats with them through your iChat and record it to GB. If you are using other software to chat, like Skype, you can only indirectly get it to GB (record it with other software first, then import it.)

  • I'M WITH STUPID! sendmail.cfm hack not working...

    Hi, I'm a lonely, stupid, ignorant person whom is not interested in code or building a sendmail page. I can however, build a frameset in DreamWeaver and up load its page's and content onto the net using filezilla and a webhosting client, I can even build my own btn bar with a get URL content mainframe code...arrrggghh. But then stupid comes back and say's, "use a 2004 mx flash tutorial from the 2004 Flash MX bible, and insert its SWF file from a Flash FLA  from chapter 30" and guess what...It doe's not work! ooohHa! And a little horn apears, as a saintly brow turn's into a not so saintly V shaped furrow. Please, can anyone help, stupid?
    I need to know how to alter the sendmail code, to send email's to [email protected] from the contact page on the http://www.pizzapal.co.uk website.
    function sendComments() {
    var sender:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    var responder:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    responder.onLoad = function(success){
      if (success) {
       _global.serverTime = this.timeDate;
       _root.gotoAndStop("output");
      } else {
       _root.gotoAndStop("error");
    sender.fromEmail = fromEmail_txt.text;
    sender.fromName = fromName_txt.text;
    sender.body = comments_txt.text;
    sender.sendAndLoad("http://[email protected] ", responder, "POST");
    _root.gotoAndStop("wait");
    this._lockroot = true;
    Right? Wrong?  Plus, what file do upload onto my server to accomapy the SWF sendmail.cfm page.
    Many thanks for reading and I hope it was entertaining because actors like me and Joey are important to.
    The sendmail_cfm.swf is attached.

    Please can anyone remove the report abuse icon because I cannot continue with this thread.
    Sabby76
    Thanks Ross
    I accidentally deleted a content folder from the frameset and that meant due to low practical skills in Dreamweaver, I went ahead a deleted the whole site instend of renaming a secondary copy. I then built the frameset up again this evening after going for a walk to cool down, it was one way geetting to know Dreamweaver a little better. The time gave also an oppotunity to think about the sendmail problem and thing's were clearing on the return home, so I sat down a dragged in some new file's from the tutorial C.D and started again, with a copy paste from your email. Thank's once again, it was your advise that truned my attention to the sendmail.cfm, which incidentally, I had over looked on the first attempt's to get the contact's page running. It still doe's not return mail though, so I thought might like to have a look at the script from the sendmail.cfm file... {
    I hope I carried out your advice correctly and notice also the server port, which I have changed from 23 to 21 and the the servers I.D also was scrubbed in favor to my hosting clients. I've sent then a question on this subject, regarding your question on weather or not their server run's cfm, I will inform of their answer and keep trying anyway.

    Subject: I'M WITH STUPID! sendmail.cfm hack not working...
    Your code should look like this:
    function sendComments() {
    var sender:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    var responder:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    var scriptURL:String = "http://www.pizzapal.co.uk/sendmail.cfm";
    responder.onLoad = function(success){
      if (success) {
       _global.serverTime = this.timeDate;
       _root.gotoAndStop("output");
      } else {
       _root.gotoAndStop("error");
    sender.fromEmail = fromEmail_txt.text;
    sender.fromName = fromName_txt.text;
    sender.body = comments_txt.text;
    sender.sendAndLoad(scriptURL, responder, "POST");
    _root.gotoAndStop("wait");
    this._lockroot = true;
    And then, open the sendmail.cfm page in Dreamweaver or another text editor, find the email address the script is sending to (I am assuming this is part of the tutorial in the book as well...) and change it to your mailto:[email protected]
    Upload the SWF, and the CFM and it should work.... assuming your web host server runs coldfusion scripting.

    My i7 rig is with a socket 1156 board, an Asus P7P55D mobo, and an 860 CPU. I know the Corsair DDR3 memory @ its stock 1.65v simply doesn't run at 1600mhz like it says on its box - 1333mhz seems to be its stability wall.
    I upgraded my Q6600 and Asus P5B deluxe rig because so many people said to never consider overclocking on an editing rig. Was that over-cautious advice?
