Intro Movie at slower frame rate when uploaded

The intro movie I created for my photography site plays too
slow when uploaded, thus making the music finish long before the
animation is done; needless to say, this makes for a very tacky
intro!
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

The frame rate is always set to the "prefered" frame rate.
The actual frame rate depends on the server, the speed and the size
of the swf file. The best you can do is to fully optomise the
images before you import them into flash.
As you are into photography I can understand the need for
good quality images thefore it is a case of what do you prefer?
Good images or good speed!

  • Slow motion 50% export H.264 MOV (at half frame rate)

    Hi,
I'm using a QuickTime MOV file (H.264, 1080p/59.94fps, 15 seconds) and have set slow motion to 50% (= 30 seconds).
Can anyone confirm that when I export this clip to 29.97fps I won't lose frames?
I have Compressor and think I found nearly all required settings except:
    - Key frames - shall I use automatic or 24 or what? (How can I find out what the original key frame value was?)
    - Frame reordering - shall I uncheck this option? (What does it mean? It's not in the manual.)
    Many thanks!

If you want to make absolutely sure you won't lose frames, you should manually set a project to 29.97fps, import your 60/59.94fps and conform the video (Retime menu > Conform Speed [the retime menu is the 2nd one from the left over the effects browser area/under the inspector area]). FCPX will automatically frame for frame adjust the video to fit to the slower frame rate.
Key frames (video compression, not animation):  a key frame is a complete image -- 100% pixels in use. Every frame between the key frames are only the parts of the image that change from the last frame (like Cel animation). Setting Automatic allows the software to make the best choices of when and where to create a complete frame. Otherwise, you can experiment with different values (up to All, which is pretty much no compression) to see what kinds of results you get and the overall quality (use very short pieces, like 5 -10 seconds.)  High motion areas in video are always going to be the most challenging with respect to compression (particularly bitrate), so... it's worth figuring out what settings you like that will give the best results (and 5-10second clips don't take that long to render.) I generally use Automatic and adjust the bitrates to give the best overall results (which occasionally requires testing segments.)
Frame reordering:  allows applications to "decompress" video frames in a different order than they are played, thereby allowing those apps that understand it a way to work faster. Larry Jordan suggests that this setting always be set for H.264 video (although I don't if I'm uploading to YouTube -- I try not to give YouTube any excuses for recompressing my video, so I try to have it already optimized before uploading... so far, it seems to be working.)

  • Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?

Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?
I have a file created by digitizing an 8mm film at a rate of 24 fps. I would like to create a downloaded movie at a frame rate of 15 fps.  The Export using Quicktime option seems to provide that capability but the resulting file has the same duration as the original 24 fps file.  How can I get the exported movie to be slowed down?

    joegez,
There is a feature you can use to slow down the video. In the project, move the mouse pointer over the clip, then click the gear icon. That brings up the Inspector. Click the Clip tab. Then you will see a feature there called Speed. Move the slider to the left to slow down the clip. Or you can enter a percentage in the box on the right.
Hope this solves the problem for you.

  • Changing animation frame rate when rendering in photoshop does not change the length of the video?

I made a walk cycle animation in Photoshop CS6 and want to render it into a quicktime format. I'd like it to be 12 fps, but when I rendered it at 12 fps the video seemed to be missing frames, and the video was 3 seconds long. I have 98 frames to my animation; doing the math, at 12 fps it should be 8 seconds long. Not 3.
I was confused and for curiosity's sake I rendered the video at 6 fps, trying to really slow it down. The video ended up being STILL 3 seconds long and only maybe 20 frames. I was missing literally 70 frames. I'm so upset with this rendering thing, I could chuck my computer at the wall.
Does anybody know of a solution to this?
edit: If it means anything, I've tried rendering it straight from the frame view and the timeline view. Each time I render it I have the timeline frame rate match the rendering frame rate as well.

Photoshop CS6 and CC support two types of animation Frame animations and a Video Timeline
Changing the frame rate should not change the length of a video timeline. It should just change the number of frames that are rendered.  To change the length of a video you need to change the length of the video timeline.  If you increase the length of the timeline and there is audio I'm quite sure there will be a problem with it,  The Video part will most likely be better then the sound. The required number of extra frames can be generated however the video may look like slow motion. If you decrease the length the motion will speed up.  The length of a video is normally done be editing video clips which are trimmed and stitched together to get the desired duration. Not normally done by altering the duration of a clip.
The duration a of Frame animation is the sum of the times each frame is displayed.  In a frame animation the length of time a frame is displayed can be varied it not a normal motion picture video.  To have a smooth frame animation you need a sufficient number of frames that are different from each other to show smooth motion.  You can use Photoshop Frame animation tween feature to have Photoshop manufacture frames to help with a smoothing the animation.   Once you have a frame animation the length with the motion you want you can have Photoshop convert it to a video timeline and render a normal motion picture video.  It will not have audio but you can add audio to it.

  • Slow Frame Rates on Macbook Air

I play online games on my macbook air, and it always seems to have slower frame rates than my windows laptop (like 5-10 vs 20-30).  I'm guessing battery preservation, but does anyone know how to unlock this?

Yes SP, I play second life which has 3d graphics rendering.  I usually use mid-range graphics settings, and depending on where i am i use my macbook air or windows acer laptop.  I would expect the macbook air to be at least as fast (it is a newer machine as well as a mac!) but even winding down some of the more resource heavy settings i almost never get over 10 frames per second.  On the windows laptop, however, i am flying along at 25-30fps without any messing around. My screen resolution is 1440x900 - default i think on the macbook air?

  • Final cut pro slow frame rate

So whenever I import P2 files into an event I seen to have a slower frame rate during playback. the footage is good because it plays normally in the import media window but it will at a slower frame rate once imported. the video format is 720p 24 frames.

Where do you keep your projects and events? What are your system specs?

  • Posterize Time VS Preseve Frame Rate When nested

    Hello Every one.
When Nesting  Two Compositions with different Frame Rates, I heard Posterize Time, Is a old Effect that many people use it.  But It can cause Lots of problems.
So, Is It better Inside Composition Settings- Advanced:  To Check Preserve frame rate when nested or in render queue ?
    Thank You.

If you have to preserve the frame rate, I would just choose to preserve the frame rate. However, there are many times when you don't even need to preserve the frame rate. So, if you don't actually need to preserve it, don't.

Ah well, yes...    the variables/options are:
lighting - this is the most commonly overlooked, and often the easiest to fix;  use/buy more/better lighting!
lensing - be sure you select a good quality lens (a good lens is more expensive but passes light better), and that the aperture is open as far as possible (unless you have depth of field issues)
exposure duration - as long as possible relative to framerate desired or to prevent blurring if motion involved
use of gain - this should be a last resort as "noise" increases with gain... but slight use of gain can be helpful under marginal lighting conditions

  • K7N2 DELTA2 + 6600GT veyr slow frame rates...

    Hi!
I just bought a Gigabyte 6600GT (I upgrade from a fx5700 Ultra) and I`m using it with a MSI K7N2 Delta 2 and I getting slow frame rates using old games like Formula 1 2002.  The extrange thing is that I use to play that game at full 60 fps with the old 5700 with fsaa4x (I saw similar sysconfigs in my friends pcs with relatively good speed)... Also I upgrade my PSU to an nspire 450w true power.  I used a lot of combination of nforce/forceware drivers with fresh installs but nothing.  The only speed up that I got is in benchmarks, for example Aquamark3 before (5700U): 29230, Aquamark After (6600GT) 45000, 3dmark03 before: 3200, after: 7800, pcmark05 after: 2100, before: 2992.  I`ll try a modded bios that I found here at the forums.
    Any suggestions???

  • Playback drops frame rate when context menu opens

    Hello,
I was wondering why is frame rate of the video drops when I open the context menu, the playback seems to go down as much as 5fps, and it goes back to normal when the context menu is closed.
    Thanks in advance.

lghtanddrk, if you send me a link to your AVCHD MTS file, I can trying exporting it as a MOV file and see if I get the same issue. For me QT seems to be slowing no matter what HD file I give it.
What camera did you use to shoot your footage and how big is the AVCHD file? What's the data rate of your MP4/H.264 file? Again, if it's possible to get some of your MP4 footage, I can check if I have problems playing it.
I have two partions on my machine: one is WinXP SP2 without the updates and QT7.3.1 (for Avid XPress Pro) and the other has WinXP SP3 with all the updates and QT7.6.4 (I think that's the latest one). So, I can try on both to see if there are issues.
When you export as DV AVI, are you exporting as a SD (720x480?). I know that HD is square pixels and SD is non-square. The HD is 16x9 and the SD is 4:3. You could try and export your AVI as 720x540 square pixels or 720x480 non-square i.e. NTSC (CCIR 601) or try exporting as 854x480 square pixels to give your original 16x9 widescreen at SD resolution. I haven't looked at this stuff for a while, so, I'm kind of guessing here!

  • Preserve frame rate when loading one swf into another

Is there a way to preserve the frame rate of a swf when
loading it into another swf that plays at a higher frame rate. I'm
loading some flash ads that mostly run at around 12-15 frames a
second into a portfolio site that runs at around 40 frames per
second. All my ads play too fast. The link is:
    www.dg8tal.com/portfolioidea.html
    Thanks!

As far as I understand it, there is no option to override the
frame rate designated by the main movie you are loading into. The
SWF file you are loading always inherits the framerate of the SWF
you are loading it into. Here are some suggested work-arounds that
    might help:
    1) Lower the frame rate of the main movie on the website that
    you are loading into.
    2) Expand the timelines of the advertisements just for use in
    your portfolio
    3) Put your menu and thumbnails in one HTML frame that can
then load each item in another HTML frame above it. Since each SWF
would load on its own, the framerate of your main swf would not
matter. You would lose your nice resizing effect though unless you
did some more complicated integration with javascript I imagine.
I would recommend going with option 2, since that will take
the smallest amount of work while preserving your overall design.
However, with the faster framerate, your advertisements would have
difference performance characteristics that you'll need to assess.
I'm trying to think of more options, but these seem to be the
first things that come to mind.

  • ISight + Slow Frame Rate

    Hello,
I have been using my isight daily for several months now, and have not had any problems. Two days ago I started experiancing very low framerates, but for my side of the video. I can see the other person clearly and at a good frame rate, but the other person gets a slide show. When I'm not connected I see everything clearly, but when in the video chat, the little window with me in it is also very slow. What can be done to stop this.
I chat with my girlfriend who has a powerbook with tiger so our set ups are almost identical.
Can you please tell me who is mostlikely causing this and what can be done to fix it.
    Thank you,
    Stanislav Jidkov

Hello rhondageske. Until you get a response from Stanislav Jidkov, here are a couple of other ideas you can consider.
If you have already tried all the relevant suggestions in How to get iChat AV working again without success, both you and your chat buddy whith whom you experience this problem should test with several others to be more certain which system has the problem. Only the system that has trouble connecting with several others will need to do the requisite troubleshooting work.
If you do not have enough available buddies for testing, see this list of Buddy Names for iChat Test for contact info for some users willing to help you test.
If your buddy uses a PC, and if testing shows the problem is with the PC end of the connection, your PC friend may need to tune his system, adjust his video quality and frame rate, or consider the other suggestions for the PC side of the connection in Mac Video Chat with PCs.

  • Drop frame rate when start saving avi file with GigE basler camera

    Hello all,
I use 2 Ace basler GigE cameras at 60 fps to capture animal locomotion. I experience randomly this kind of problem. When I start to record by a start/stop button and save the videos in the hard-disk sometime the frame rate drop to 20-14 fps and a skip 2 or 3 frame. After that the frame rate became stable to 60 fps.
These are the overall settings and spec of the program:
    - I use a producer/consumer loop (I never experienced a filling of the queue even when the drop frame rate occur)
    - I fixed the bandwidth of the Intel 100 GigE card to 500 for each camera
    - size of packet sent = 8000
    - firewall disabled
    - vi execution in highest mode
I observed that the dropping of the frame rate occur when the vi run for a while without interaction with the operator (the operator set others parameters in another computer, so the vi only acquire the videos without saving them)
    I have attached the vi

GRAB 2 CAM SAVE AVI TTL SEND C-P LOOP 0.1.vi ‏151 KB

    Alex,
Does this drop in frame rate occur with both cameras or does it only occur with the "left" or "right" camera acquisition loops.  I think what is happening is that your producer loop is overwriting the images before they get written to the AVI.  In addition there may be some memory conflicts as queues are generally not recommended for IMAQ Images.  Here is an explanation stating that instead of enqueuing an Image Object you are actually enqueuing a memory location to an image.   This means that when you produce a new image it is writing to the same memory location you are trying to read from when you write the frame to AVI.  This forum offers a possible workaround.

  • Mac os x plus quick cams using UVC = slow frame rates...

well i took your advice and picked up a logitech 9000 pro quickcam. this camera is uvc compatible and works out of the box on my macbook running 10.5.2.
the issue i am now having is that the uvc driver is bare bones and doesn't give any way to change the high resolution and low frame rate. the result is that the camera while very sharp gives unacceptable performance approaching 5 fps in any application including quicktime recording.
any ideas on how to resolve this annoyance? the uvc on the mac is unusable for me at this time because i communicate in American Sign Language and need normal smooth video that one gets with the built in i-sight.
    thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I've not located any OSX drivers or software that allow higher framerates with standard UVC cams. There are a couple of options for you though - run bootcamp and run XP when you need to do signing, using the Windows software and drivers that came with your 9000. Or, buy an old Sony video camera, anything with firewire out will do, and are always available on eBay for about what you paid for the 9000.

  • FCP - in/out points of clips move a few frames forward when imported to timeline?

    It's all in the question.
If I have a clip open in the viewer, and I select an in/out point say, ten frames long, when I go to put the clip in the timeline (dragging and dropping), the in/out points move forward about five frames? Because of this, I constantly have to fix the clip segments I move into the timeline.
What could be causing this? The sequence settings match the settings of the clips I'm using (23.98 fps, etc.).

Yes. However, I've used H.264 codec files for many, many other projects without this problem.
If it helps at all, the video is a bit choppier right when it starts to play, and takes a few moments to actually start playing once I click the spacebar.
