Introduce a keyboard with built in numeric keypad option on the W500 Lenovo!!

Ok, so this is not so much of a question as suggestion to Lenovo and call for any who think its a good idea to ad your support in appealing to Lenovo to offer it.
There are a number of competitors out there who make 15.x inch laptops and provide a numeric keypad on the keyboard. I do a lot of entering of numbers (and I suspect do a significant proportion of other potential W500 buyers) and not having a numeric keypad is a real limitation. Separate USB keypads don't really fix the problem because they don't offer the convenience and ergonomics of having it on the keyboard. Given the fact that it is aimed at true power users who can justify its cost, it should also offer the option of the keypad. I know this would mean a redesign but I believe there is enough room there (there may need to be some resizing of the current keys to fit it in but for those who crunch a lot of number its would be worth it. Given that many of the competitors who offer less capable machines can successfully fit the numeric keypad on a 15 inch machine then Lenovo should be able to do it without stuffing up the integrity/userbility if the current keyboard.
Anyone agree?

The laptops my employer provides (probook 6550b & elitebook 8560's) have numeric keypads. What I dislike about the keyboards with them is how off-center the keyboard, track pad and touch pad are. Haveing the keybpard centered is much better for true mobile work. A number pad sounds nice, and If I were an accountant, CPA or someone that works with numbers a great deal, it coul dbe a desireable feature. (or get an external number pad if that important.) Overll, I like the placement of lenovo's keyboard and other keys much better than what HP has done.

  • Multiclip Bug with MacBook Pro Numeric Keypad?

I'm having the issues with FCP 5.1.4 using a MacBook Pro with both Targus and a Adesso numeric keypads. Although the Targus is not listed as such, the Adesso is advertised as being OSX compatible. But regardless of which numeric keypad I use, regardless of which keyboard layout I use, regardless of which modifiers I use or map, I am completely unable to make cuts using modifier keys with either of the numeric keypads listed. Blue markers show up, but then the cuts are not made. I can switch video angles without modifier keys. I simply cannot cut to a video angle with a modifier key. HOWEVER...if I map the unmodified numeric keypad 1 and 2 to cut to a video angle, then ALL modifier keys (Shift, Opt, Ctl, and Cmd) will also now do the same.
The numeric keypads work in other apps, and seem to even work within the alphanumeric fields in FCP. It's the modifier keys that simply won't work correctly with multiclip editing.
This is a 2 camera project project that was shot WITHOUT matching timecode and was subclipped to keep everything in sync. Playback is fine in multiclip mode, and the multiclip buttons in the timeline button bar do work without problems. In fact this may be the only way I'll get this project done, which is a real pain.
Thanks for any and all help.

The only two options is to force quit out of the application, but this will NOT correct the problem when you restart iPhoto. I was only able to regain access to the top left library window when I unplugged the external display. This allowed me to regain control by shifting the iPhoto Library window back to the Macbook Pro screen. Once again I've never had these issues until upgrading to 10.10.2. My workspace set up has been the same since 2011.
That was bit drastic, to exit Full Screen Mode this way.
The green button is the new way to use iPhoto in Full Screen mode in 10.10.2.  To exit FullScreen Mode, either use the escape button, or "Exit Full Screen ^⌘F" from the View menu.  The main application menu will appear, when you move the cursor to the upper border of the screen.
If you Force Quit, iPhoto will stay in Full Screen Mode, when you restart it.

  • Numeric Keypad option on Wireless Keyboard

I use the faux Numeric Keypad setup on my MacBook Pro (fn key + select keys on the right side of the keyboard) to enter music in Sibelius. I'd like to do the same with my BTW Aluminum Keyboard - but the equivalent key strokes don't engage the "numeric pad" setup. Is there any way to do this or is it just not an option?

  • Keyboard with built in flash memory?

There is no forum for keyboards. So I thought this forum seemed the next best thing.
Anyway if you look down the side of an apple keyboard. you'll notice that there is a lot of space wasted (all be it, rather thin long, and triangle shaped). Now combined with the fact that a lot of wired keyboards stay on the desk, almost permanently (eg plugged into the apple cinema display, see the link, hehe), why not build in lots of flash memory, to use it as a desktop harddrive. It would be perfect for laptops that you "dock" when you get home. And basically it would contain all the stuff you don't need with you at all times "on the road", such as movies or even backups.
Ok so were probably still a long way off from being able to build enough storage space for backups, but the idea is there.
I'm not really a fan of the big bulky harddrives that sit on your desktop (i do like the time capsules which sit out the way, nice and wireless like)
but even if there were just lots of sd card slots on the inside of the long foot thing, we could fit 13 cards and hence a total of 416GB (13 x 32GB). Now all that would be needed would be a way of combining them into one virtual drive.
Wow that would be an expensive keyboard lol:
    £28 - keyboard
    £50 - 32GB SDHC memory x 13
    = £678
    Anyway theres my idea.
Please shoot it down or whatever. Tis just an idea. (Maybe for the future ...)

  • U150 Numeric Keypad - Where is the Enter Key

If you enable the numeric keypad on the U150 keyboard, which key is the Enter key?  I need this for InDesign and other applications, where the Numeric Keypad Enter key has special meaning.

I see now that it's context dependent. However, when entering text for a search string in the browser, Swiftkey shows a "Send" key instead of "Enter/Return". When I have an Enter/Return key there, I can just press it and the browser starts my desired search immediately. With the "Send" key, I press it and nothing happens other than a space character appearing immediately after the search string! If I press it twice, the browser will finally start my search.
This is just the wrong context for Swiftkey to have a "Send" key in place of the "Enter/Return" key. In fact, I'd rather have it be an "Enter/Return" key all the time, that has always worked for me in all contexts. So I'm about ready to throw Swiftkey out of the boat, although I've happily used Swiftkey on Android for a couple of years...On Android Swiftkey, the "Enter/Return" key never changes to a "Send" key, so I think that this is just broken on iOS 8. I really don't like it when keys on a keyboard change depending on context, anyways, that just a badly designed user interface.
If they don't fix it soon I'll be dumping Swiftkey until they do fix it. I really did like Swiftkey on Android, but on the iPad not so much. Maybe I can find another keyboard, other than the Apple keyboard, that works well on the iPad. Bums me out, I was looking forward to being able to use Swiftkey on iOS 8 like I could on Android.

  • TS1381 the enter key on my numeric keypad brings up the Start menu in Windows 7

The enter key on my wired iMAC numeric keypad is not working correctly - it brings up the Start menu in Windows 7.  I am running Windows 7 through Parallels.  Any ideas how to switch it back?

I figured this out on my own.  I had clicked a key in DoubleClick that was causing this.  I unchecked it and now my enter key works normally.

  • IPhoto: unable to send with built-in email share option

i've only been able to send and share photos from iphoto using the external Mail app. (going into iphotos general prefences and changing it to Mail.) However, at times i want to use some of the snazy built in stationary options iphoto has to send pix to friends and family.
when "share photos using iPhoto" is selected, iPhoto always gives me an offline error message. i've tweeked the settings and made sure everything matches that of the Mail app, but it still doesnt work.
    anyone have similar issues? resolutions?
    OS 10.8
    iPhoto 11 v. 9.3.2

Mail has more (and many think better) stationary templates than iPhoto. In iPhoto go to the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts and delete the account and re-enter it and try again

  • Does apple have a wireless keyboard with numeric keypad

Does any one know if apple has a wireless keyboard with a numeric keypad if not they should make one

    Hello:
Apple stopped making wireless keyboards with numeric pads some time ago.  If you want an Apple KB with a numeric pad, you need to get a USB one:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB110LL/B?n=keyboards&fnode=MTY1NDA1Mg&s=topSe llers
if not they should make one
That is a matter of opinion.  I never use (or want to use) a numeric keypad and LIKE the smaller Bluetooth KB footprint.

  • Numeric Keypad USB Keyboard

    Hello,
As my Alias says it, I am new to Mac. I purchased an external keyboard which has a numeric keypad. The MacBook and the external keyboard have the French Canadian layout.
When I use the numeric keypad, the comma/period key defaults to comma. To get a period (i.e. decimal point) I have to use Shift+[,] or [CapsLock]+[,]. Is it possible to set the default action to a period and the alternate action to comma?
    Thank you

    Thank you for the tip.
And unfortunately you were right. I tried many keyboard configurations and none would give me the period without loosing the french Canadian keyboard layout. Another funny thing is that the caculator will accept either the comma or the the period as the decimal separator. In Spotlight only the period is valid as a decimal separator.
Maybe this should be a feauture request for an upcoming keyboard driver update.

  • Lost numerical keypad function

During the middle of a long photo editing session the num lock light went out and the numeric keypad ceased to function. Pushing num lock didn't change anything. Removed all other USB devices, tried all the USB ports, restarted, reinstalled OS. Nothing worked. Replaced keyboard with new one and repeated all of the above. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

    Are "mouse keys" on?
    Try this:
System Preferences - Universal Access - "Mouse" tab - mouse keys: off
    worked for me.

  • Numeric Keypad Problems

I have the USB keyboard which has a numeric keypad with no num-lock key. This morning my number keys and the "." key on that keypad stopped working. The =,/,*,-,and + keys all work properly.
My research on this topic gave a number of suggestions, none of which worked -- including pressing the F6 key, shift-clear, going into the Universal preference pane to see if sticky keys was on. I also repaired permissions and ran all of the routine maintenance scripts. None of this helped.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

OK, then it's not the Keyboard, something is messed up with the OS.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Numeric Keypad Revolt

This started a couple of days ago out of the blue. The numeric keypad cannot input data and often freezes the app forcing me to force quit. Seems to affect all apps, Apple and others. Keyboard Viewer shows the keys being pushed. What I've done: Used another keyboard, repaired privileges, shift started, even archive and re-install 10.4. Apple Hardware Test OK. What am I missing?
    GG

Thanks for this. I had the same problem. I didn't go so far as to re-install the system, but I was running out of plists to trash. Attempting to use the number keys on the numeric keypad (but not the non-numeric keys) would crash the Finder; re-launching the Finder would un-freeze all open programs. Strangely, it happened with two computers at the same time. How that happened I do not know (but I suspect the cat). Now, I wonder, why should this accidental change to a preference that is intended to be assistive, crash the Finder?

  • Micro Innovations USB Numeric Keypad

I recently purchased a USB numeric keypad for my ibook, when I plugged it in, it detected it as an entire keyboard, not just a numeric keypad.. it works... kind of.. it asks me to hit the key to the right of the shift key.. there isnt a shift key on the keypad, therefore, I cant hit it.. it then says it cant identify it, and asks me to select it, so I select that its a standard keyboard...
Now, everytime I plug it in, it appears that my ctrl key is stuck, hitting a key on the keypad solves this, but obviously, if I start my computer with it plugged in, it starts in extensions-off mode.
I have looked around for any kind of info on this, and found nothing. Perhaps someone else here has seen this kind of

I have the same problem ..... not yet of solution. Best regards

  • Desperate of ultranav keyboard with touchpad & num pad.

I am in desperate need of a USB ultranav keyboard with touchpad and numeric pad.
I've checked with lenovo hong kong, but i've been told this accessories was fade out..
    the part number is 31p8950
Where can i get 1 of these on earth, please? or is there any other lenovo service center has one of this in stock?
i really wish to buy one of it.

I see your point. Maybe try apple's feedback portal and point this out. I don't use a numeric pad on the 17" but perhaps they should introduce this on 17" or even 19" machines for users like you. Carrying a keyboard around would suck, if you just wanted to move from one room to another.
However, I've heard there's an ipod touch/iphone app called NumberKey that gives you a numeric pad - any use?

  • Wireless Keyboard with touchpad?

I have been looking for some time for a wireless keyboard with built in mouse control - a touchpad seems the obvious choice - to use with a mac mini in a plasma TV/Hi Fi home theatre set up. There seems to be a gap in the market for this type of device.
I have so far come across 2-3 third party devices that only work with PC but not wirelessly (two USB, one PS2). Sony make a nice looking white cylindrical media PC that has a wireless keyboard with a touchpad. I also see them in some department stores at the point of sale tills.
I know I could get a wireless Mac (mighty) mouse, but when you are sat in a chair or sofa, there are very few surfaces where you can comfortably use a wireless mouse. It just feels odd!
Many people are comfortable using a laptop on their lap and controlling the mouse pointer with a touchpad so it is just like detaching the screen, moving it away 6-8 feet and making it bigger of course! The user interface and experience stays the same.
If Apple got wise and marketed the mini as a media centre, I'm sure they would make the connection and produce another wireless keyboard with built in touchpad. Until then, has anyone come across a suitable solution?

    Hi Bob,
I'll be in the same boat as you soon, aiming to migrate my G4 Mac Mini to the living room soon, and doing the homework now.
Here are the wireless keyboards that I've found appealing for this purpose:
Logitech Playstation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Keyboard, US$47
Some people have said it works well on Mac and PC too, so this seems good. Note: the PRO model is much more expensive!
    http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-Cordless-MediaBoard-Keyboard/dp/B000MFLBBK
    Logitech DiNovo Edge, US$157
Very smart looking, pure Bluetooth tech and nice trackpad/media cursor.
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/192&cl=hk,en
    Logitech DiNovo Mini, US$149
Miniturized version of above, yuo'll be using thumbs to type. Only recently released.
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/3848&cl=us,en?WT.ac =ps
    Adessa WKB-4000US, US$80
Matches your description of a laptop keyboard and trackpad perfectly!
    http://www.amazon.com/Adesso-WIRELESS-SLIMTOUCH-TOUCHPAD-WKB-4000US/dp/B00083Y0Y G/ref=pdbbs5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203675646&sr=8-5
I've tried some of the relatively cheaper mini keyboards that have a trackball on the right and left+right mouse keys on the left. The build quality was abit poor and either the trackball easily lost traction (within afew days!) or the keys started falling off, but I do recall I tried it and it wasn't very good, and I returned it. I'm also abit weary of RF wireless, because I have had some RF mice where the battery died very quickly and the wireless connection was not smooth unless you had the mouse right next to the USB dongle. I tried afew cheap brands, going upto the Kensington wireless mouse, but just gave up on RF stuff since.
If you do go for one of the above, please do let us know how it is with them!
