Introduce yourself!

I thought this would be a good thread for everyone to come in and tell a little about yourself, especially as the forum is just getting started. My name is Michael Andrew, but I go by Michael The Maven. I have been a Canon shooter for almost 10 years now and I LOVE Canon gear.  I started off primarily as a portrait and wedding photorgapher, after a few years of working as a videographer in the wedding industry in Alabama. For the past 5 years, I have run a free online photography school for beginning Canon shooters and have have produced several Canon training videos, many clips of which can be seen on Youtube. I am intimiately familiar with the following Canon gear: Canon Rebel XSiCanon Rebel T1iCanon Rebel T2iCanon Rebel T3iCanon Rebel T4iCanon 40DCanon 50DCanon 60DCanon 5DCanon 7DCanon 5DiiCanon 5Diii Canon Speedlite 430, 580 Ex, ExiiCanon Speedlite 600 I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing my knowledge with you if I can help! Michael

Greetings everyone,                                      My name is Tim Reilly and I am not a professional photographer. Actually...I am a pretty simple guy who LOVES to take pictures. I am a guy who had a desire to take good photos of my kids while they were growing up. I simply showed up to their school plays, games, field trips, etc with my camera.  I started 10 years ago with my oldest daughter and am still going strong with my youngest son...now a junior in high school. I started this little hobby as a personal need to get some good shots of my kids and it has evolved into me being the  "official/unofficial" school photographer. I started shooting with the Sony f828. I was able to get adequate shots but something was missing. When I took the plunge and got serious about quality I upgraded to Canon. Previously  I have shot with the 30D then the 50D and I have settled into the 1D mark IV. I shoot primarily with the 70-200mm L series and the 16-35mm wide angle zoom lens..L series as well. I recently purchased the 40mm pancake lens and have been happy with the performance so far. If there is 1 thing I can add to this forum it is to say that there is an unlimited source of events to photograph right under your nose...that would be at your local high schools. I have been most fortunate in my little corner of the world. I have photographed 2 state football championships as well as many state championship runs that fell short. I have had opportunities to shoot everything from weddings...not a big fan...to funerals...also not a big fan. State championships to school plays, dances, assemblys and everything inbetween. I edit 99% with Adobe lightroom4. I am a guy who loves to take pictures and I am getting better every day. I am excited to be a part of this forum with hopes of learning something from you and hopes that I may have something you can use.

  • Introduce yourself to the community!

    Hey all,
This thread can be used to introduce yourself to the community. Just say hello or maybe even add a little bit about yourself. Whatever you feel comfortable with I'll start it off I'm Yannick, I joined Telstra in July, but have been lurking around for quite a while now. I'm the community manager here at CrowdSupport so should you have any suggestion or need anything, don't hesitate to give me a shout!
So that’s a bit about me and I am looking forward to seeing you all in the forums soon!

    Hi Everybody!
I'll start the introduction ball rolling with an introduction of myself: my Earth name is Dylan, and this the first time I've ever used the word "introduction" so many times in a sentence. I have been sent here from my home planet to help you use these forums in the most efficient and effective way possible. I am well versed in a number of languages including English, and some others that I can assure you aren't made up. I have been working at Telstra for nearly four years now, helping customers via phones, email and live chat before a year ago joining our Social Media team and talking to you via Twitter, Facebook and Whirlpool where I have learnt all sorts of new acronyms.
My job here will be to moderate the forums, review flagged posts, and occasionally to step in and join the conversation every now and then when it is needed. I'll do my best to help in any way that I can. But that's boring* so let's talk about me.
I love a good game, and spend most of my spare time attached to my PS3 playing NBA 2K11, and have been playing the GTAs ever since the very first overhead view one. I'm still plugging away with an iPhone 3GS that is starting to get a bit long in the tooth, but is still probably the best mobile phone I've ever used. I have been a Port Adelaide since before I can remember (or at least I'm told that). I look forward to seeing you on the forums, although if I have to delete something you've said then I obviously won't be looking quite as forward to that. I really thought you were above that <shakes head>.
    See ya round!
    -Dylan
*Not a guarantee that the next bit will be less boring.

  • Introduction message should be in a "Introduce yourself" forum

To get this forum off the ground properly, could some Mod perhaps create a new Forum where people can introduce themselves (although I hate forums like that personally, because new members are bound to ask forum-specific questions)?
Then move the Introduction thread to that forum?
Guess this is the 'new-ness' where everything needs to be sorted out first.

    Well,
I think the intent was more to spark some conversation, to give folks a chance to post and experiment a little bit, but your point is well taken.  In time,  discussion in the product sessions will be more about the product.
The welcome section, will be a welcome center with a number of floated messages to help users find their way around, and beyond that, I think it would be interesting to have some "getting to know you" kind of threads for new members to post to.  Sort of like a giant register, but with more than just people's user id's signed in it.
Let's let this stand a bit in the product forums, and once we start to build some proper content, we can splice these together and move them to the welcome area.

  • Need help with almost completed plugin engine project

    Hi all,
For a while now I have been working on a plugin engine. After a few iterations, the engine is similar to the Eclipse engine, in that plugins use extension points and extensions to allow contributions. Unlike the eclipse engine I have added the ability for plugins to fire events through the engine and other plugins can add listeners, all through the plugin.xml manifest. Dependencies are mostly handled automatically at plugin load time (when extensions get resolved to extension points, and listeners get resolved to events). For the case where a plugin needs to use classes from another plugin, dependencies are also allowed to be declared. Like the eclipse engine, activation of plugins occurs the first time a class is used within the plugin's classpath, OR a plugin can be activated after it is loaded.
What I need help with is testing, working on examples to provide with the engine project, and feedback/suggestions before we release the M1 build. I am asking for those that are interested in this type of work to volunteer to help where applicable and possible. I want to provide a solid plugin engine to the java community, one that is easy to use, works well, and is pretty effecient in terms of resource usage and performance.
Of particular interest to me right at the moment is dealing with multiple versions. As I see it, the engine will be used within an application and as such plugins would be distributed with a specific application version. The plugin version itself is more of a notification as to what version a plugin is, although I imagine it will help when updating at runtime as well.
Just a few other details of the engine. It handles (or will soon) dynamic load, unload and reload of plugins at runtime. Plugins can be distributed in an archive file format, we call .par (Plugin ARchive), with additional plugin filename extensions configurable at runtime. The plugins can be developed and deployed in an expanded directory format as they are in Eclipse as well, or in the archive format. In the archive format they do not need to be unzipped when deployed, and they can contain embeded jar/zip libraries. The engine handles finding and creating classes directly out of the .par file at runtime.
Multiple locations to find plugins are configurable before the engine starts, and even after it starts more could be added to allow additional locations to find plugins. URLs are supported, and soon the HTTP protocol will be supported so that plugins can be downloaded and installed at runtime.
The project can be found at www.sourceforge.net/projects/genpluginengine. If you would like to get involved and help out, please sign up on the dev mail list and send an email to introduce yourself to the rest of the members on the list.
I'll also add that I am working on a Swing UI Framework built entirely from plugins. It provides a ready-to-launce UI application that developers can simply add their plugins to, extending various extension points of the framework to have menu items, toolbar buttons, status bar access, help and preferences dialog additions, file i/o choosers, tons of open-source components ready to use (or extend to add on to), and like Eclipse, hopefully... draggable window frames that can be dropped on any other frame to form a tabbed frame of windows. Some of this is a ways off, some is getting there now. Presently you can add menu items that do allow plugin activation when first clicked, so plugins can be loaded but not activated until needed. The Preference dialog works but is not completed, and a plugin that adds a plugin control panel to view all loaded plugins, activate them, load/unload/reload, view extension points, extensions, dependencies, etc is partially completed. The point is, to allow a ready to run UI framework in Swing with an easy path for developers to quickly build applications with. If you are interested in this, when you join the mail list and introduce yourself, indicate that you are interested in this as well, as we need help with plugin development for it and would appreciate more help here too.
    Look forward to some replies.

Might I suggest setting up a project at a known project-site? I've seen your progress and questions posted here from time to time, but one of the drawbacks is that you have to fill each post with the entirity of your vision to explain what you're doing. That's a lot of text to read - and most folks will skip right over it.
On the other hand, a well-crafted, good-looking project web-site, with appropriate links and docs and vision statements, diagrams, etc. will have more likelyhood of attracting volunteers. java.net and sourceforge.net are likely spots to set up shop. In addition, you get CVS and bug-tracking systems, which can be quite valuable in such a large-scale project where there are lots of pieces.

  • Upgrading to 7.3.1

    Hi
Do you have to back up your songs when upgrading to newer version of itunes, i have never installed a newer since 7.0?
Any help would be great. Thanks

No, you should not need to. That said, you should definitely keep a backup of your iTunes library. When you make changes to your computer (installing new software), that is a time of slightly higher risk of something going wrong, so right now (before you upgrade) would be as good a time as any to introduce yourself to the Backup To Disc option in the File menu in iTunes.

  • Spotlight/Gaming Sweetie Bianca made her MSI Brand Ambassador debut

(MSI eSport News Report)2014 MSI continuedto popularizing the global professional Electronic Sport (eSport) and made every effort to supporting the worldwide selected eSport gamers and eSport teams. Last year MSI sponsored a popular female eSport player Jane Bianca N. Yao, also known as Mski. Biancake, as our first ever homegrown brand ambassador in Philippines. Bianca is now only 16 years old, a student from the university in Manila. Now let’s find out more about her in our exclusive interview!
Hello Bianca! Congratulations to you on becoming the MSI Philippines brand ambassador! Kindly introduce yourself to our global users.
Greetings, everyone! I'm Bianca. I am currently a college student taking up Mass Communication. I am a scholar and an incoming sophomore. I used to be a competitive DotA player but decided to quit after MineskiTV recruited me as a shoutcaster for the coverage of Mineski’s events and an anchor in MineskiEsports News Weekly.
    Link to http://www.youtube.com/user/MineskiTV for MineskiEsportsWeekly.
How does it feel to be MSI Philippinesbrand ambassador?
I am really grateful that MSI Philippines picked me as their brand ambassador because at the end of the day, I just see myself as a regular player like everybody else. I feel so blessed to be given this kind of opportunity because to be honest, I never expected this. That is why I always do my best to prove MSI and to MSI followers that they picked the right person to represent their brand and remind myself that I have to stay as the same Bianca Yao that they liked when they picked me. A gamer, a responsible student, a girl who loves eSport and loves MSI. I will forever be thankful to MSI for the trust that they have given me especially during the time that I was just starting as a shoutcaster.
MSI has a full range of gaming products, what is your favoriteproduct and functionso far and why? What elsedo you want to try in thefuture and why?
I have unboxed and tried many MSI products but for me, the one that stands out the most is my MSI GT60 gaming notebook! Back then I had doubts in using a laptop for gaming because here in the Philippines, we usually use desktop computers to play. However, after my first MSI GT60 experience, all those doubts vanished because it was the best gaming experience that I had as a gamer. The fact that I can carry MSI GT60 around in school and photo shoots while being able to play during break time is really something else. Before, I usually go to cyber café to play but now that I have MSI GT60, I can still play at home whenever I’m too busy to go to café and truth to tell, MSI GT60 actually performs better than any other computers I tried in any café. It’s hard for me to pick one feature because I love almost every feature in MSI GT60,but I guess if I were to choose one, my personal favorite is the Turbo Boost feature because when I activate it on my MSI GT60, I get over 80 FPS (Frame per Second) in DotA2 at max settings and this way I am able to play The Queen of Pain which is my favorite hero very smoothly, and myMSI GT60remains cool even while I’m playing it for a long period of time.In terms of the new products surprise me. I just unboxed the MSI GS70 Stealth and it was awesome, it is the thinnest and lightest 17" gaming notebook that I have ever seen so far. I’m sure MSI has more surprises in store for us in the future. I can’t wait!
    eSport team Mineski-DOTA shoutcasterMski. Biancake.
“Support me so I can carry you!”
As a female DotAplayer, what is your favoriteeSport role and why?
Originally, I played the support role because that’s where everyone starts as it’s a role that requires less mechanics but I wanted a bigger role and eventually, I played carry for HappyFeet-Chix. I was a tri-lane carry back then and used heroes like Slardar that help initiates fights. What I love about playing this role is that it requires a lot of guts and timing because you know that your initiation will decide whether your team will lose or win in a team fight. As the saying goes, “Support me so I can carry you!”
What is your favorite eSport team and why?
I’m pretty biased but of course, I love Mineski-DOTA and MSI-EvoGT. These are two of the most popular teams in the Philippines. I love Mineski-DOTA because they are the ones that started it all. If it wasn’t for them, the eSport scene here in the Philippines wouldn’t be like this.I love MSI-EvoGT because I personally know the players and meet and talk to them a lot during photo shoots and meetings and I love how passionate they are towards gaming. Whenever I’m around MSI-EvoGT, I feel so lucky that I’m surrounded by so many players who gamers look up to in their respective communities and share the same passion as I do towards eSport. We can talk nonstop about games and tournaments. In terms of International teams, I like The Alliance. Because they’re doing it! I love how they won against Na’Vi last TI3 (3rd The International DotA 2 Championships). I watched their last game against them via Livestream and I can’t believe what and how it happened but they won.
As a shoutcaster forMineski-DOTA, what do you do to get ready for anupcoming big event?
I play DotA and watch a lot of DotA vods(video-on-demand) so that I can be updated with the META and new terms of course. My Mineski family has always been supportive of me, they always guide and help me in shoutcasting especially Tryke and Lon because they are the first professional shoutcasters in Philippines.
Top: Bianca in campus with classmate.
Bottom: Bianca performs on stage; has her make-up and photo shoot.
“I keep in my mind that there is a real world outside the gaming scene that I should prepare for.”
As we know, you are a gamer, a shoutcaster, a model and a singer, and you are now still a student! Tell us how do you deal with all thesedifferent characters?
If you really love what you are doing, you have to be disciplined and you have to know your priorities. I tell myself that I should set my priorities. I make sure that I don't have school work left behind before playing DotA. I keep in my mind that there is a real world outside the gaming scene that I should prepare for.MSI has always been there for me and that helped me a lot, especially with my MSI GT60 which helped me in my studies and playing. Gaming is my way out of stress.
    What is your expectationfor 2014?
I hope I can go somewhere out of the country because that’s something that I’ve never done in my life and of course to pass all my subjects. I hope that one of our top Pinoy teams get to the international because that would be awesome to watch.
All your fans are looking forward to see you again soon in the upcoming public activities! Tell us your plan for 2014?
Fans can always catch me in MineskiEsportsWeekly; it’s a show that features news and current events about eSport which is aired every Friday. You can also see me in MPGL DotA 2 that happens every 4th weekend of the month in MI Shaw. Lastly, in the upcoming MSI events for gaming that I can’t tell yet.
    :o
Finally, is there anything you want to say?
First and foremost, I would like to thank MSI Philippines for giving me this opportunity. To Ms. Marian, I love you so much! Thank you for all the advice and support and for always being patient with me. To my family,my friends and my Mineski familyout there! Too many to mention! Thank you for the patience in teaching me how to be a good shoutcaster and also to be a better person. Thank you for guiding me with what I'm doing and being good to me, always giving me pieces of advice, guiding me not just in gaming but in life in general. Thanks to all my fans, I wouldn’t call fans because I see you all as my fellow gamers. To all gamers and players out there, choose MSI!To my number 1 fanmy mother, thank you so much for your support, effort and guide! Thank you for waking me up whenever I have an event. It feels so great that you’re always more excited than me whenever I get projects. Thank you for being so supportive. I know that you’re the one who viewed my videos the most. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Thanks everyone!

  • Accounts being created for internet fraud.

    Dear Skype Users!
The group of people using English and German languages for the creation of internet-sending-money fraud has been discovered working actively in Skype accounts. The signs of these people are constantly being renovated profiles of US Army generals and oficers, sometimes civil high-positioned representatives. They can be easily recognized with USA national flag as profile picture wallpaper, pictures in military uniforms of different army departments taken from oficial US authorities websites, slogans which use the name of God like "In God We Trust". However countries of origin for profiles are different or changing. The cheating procedure is going on as follows. They approach user's contact lists as pending request for the new users to be instructed how to move in Skype. When accepted they try to make out as much as possible about the treated person, distinguish age category and income level. Normally they choose young girls, housewives and elder women. After a couple of days they call without video, speak English with West Indian or American accent and choose the tactic according to target's age. Sometimes  they offer the girl to marry himself, sometimes to receive a parcel with inheritage or a treasure. The marks how to discover the cheating offer is the amount of money value written first in numbers and immediatelly after in written letters in brackets like this: 1 000 000 $ (one million US dollars).  Main point is the "client" should send out relatively small portion of money afterwards for flight to her future fiancee, for delivery of the parcel, bank deposit via special post and so on.
So, the moment  such offer appears you should know what happens. I applied to Skype admin to help for elimination of these cheating schemes from the system. But without help of users who should block these people with "abuse" sign it will never be successful.
    With respect and good wishes,
    Elena

    Dear Skype users,
Here is typical application from a frauder/scammer collected from communication after he/she sends a pending request for contact:
[20:23:38] *** Gen Scot Robinson would like to add you on Skype
Enter a message to introduce yourself.
    Dear trusted friend,
Season Greetings and Good Tidings to you and your Family. With due respect to you and your entire family over there, I hope it’s well with you and your family.
My names are General David Anderson a United States Army General presently serves here in Syria as the current Commander, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Commander, U.S. Forces Syria.
I am in desperate need of your assistance, I have summed up courage to contact you as my Brother, Sister and a friend, I am seeking your assistance to move the sum of (USD$ 22.7 Million) Twenty Two Million Seven Hundred Thousand United States Dollars to you as far as you will assured me that my share will be safe in your care until I complete my service here in Syria. This is no stolen money and there is no danger involved.
Some money in various currencies was discovered in barrel at a farm house in the current Syrian Civil War as a result of clashes between President Bashar al-Assad's government and rebel forces who want him out or step down [Link to BBC news article - 404 error - redacted by Moderator] and it was agreed by staff Sgt. Kenneth Buff, General David Miller, and I that some part of this money be shared among us before informing anyone about the discovery, this was quite illegal thing to do but I tell you what, no compensation will make it up for the risk we have taken our lives in this hell whole of which my colleague was killed by a road side bomb last week.
The above figure was given me as my share to cancel this kind of money became a problem for me, so with the help of a British contact working here and his office enjoys some immunity I was able to move the money to a security company in the United States as a diplomatic consignment. They are waiting for me to provide the name of the end receiver who they will deliver the parcel to, as a soldier I can not present myself as the direct owner of this funds it against our code of conduct we are not allowed to do business and the US Government is planting a close watch on all military personnel that is why I need you to help me receive this funds.
The moment I get a response from you. that you are willing to help me I will forward all the details of the security company in the United States to you, so that you can contact them for immediate release, I want you to tell me how much you will accept for helping me to receive this funds.
One more passionate appeal please do not discuss this issue with anyone, and please if you don't like this mail please destroy this message as any leakage of this information will be too bad for us soldiers here in Syria, this is the other reasons I will mention later has prompted me to reach you for help, I honestly want this matter to be resolved immediately please get back asap, my only way to communicate is by email: [e-mail removed for privacy and security]
I am willing to give you 30% out of the total funds. What is your own opinion?
My private email: [e-mail removed for privacy and security]
    Yours in service,
    Gen Scott Robinson

  • Rendering issues? Audio is not in sync with video

im very very new to after effects and im jumped straight into the deep end of things, i downloaded a rendered template with a audio file to go with... when i render it in AVI it also seems like the video is way to slow for the audio and doesn't match up! I have no idea what to do or try or what im looking for, so any help would be massively appreciated! thank you so much for your time

Other than what Mylenium suggests, there isn't a whole lot else we can do.  It is a very unwise thing to jump into using AE without introducing yourself to the basics, because the application contains too many ways to foil the uninitiated.  Furthermore, since you don't know the arcane AE lingo, there are also translation issues to deal with.
Almost NO ONE successfully learns AE intuitively.  Those who are successful have last names that begin with the letters "ein" and end with "stein".  Almost EVERYONE has to start with the basics.  Here is a very good introduction to the basics.
Fight the temptation to jump right into AE.  You do so at your peril.

  • Trying to add a contact

I did NOT mean to give a kudo -- Skype sucks when it comes to customer service!
I'm trying to talk to a live HUMAN BEING because your posted "answers" are useless!!  I'm trying to add a contact that doesn't show up in the Skype directory, though she swears she is in it.  Then the "directions" after typing her Skype address  "In the top right corner of the window, click Add to Contacts and enter some text to introduce yourself. This is important to let your friend know that you’re adding them as your Skype contact. When you’re done, just click Send."  Well, folks it AIN'T showing anything there!  I have looked all over the site and can't find anything like that.  THAT is why I need to speak with a live, breathing, human being!
Post transferred to create its own new thread.
    Subject/title amended accordingly.

Hi, Gvaleskie, and welcome to the Community,
Please post back with the details of which version of Skype you are using and on which device or computer and its operating system.  Your post reads like you have found the user guides, so we here in the Community will need more information before we can assist.
Skype does not have a call-in customer support facility.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • How to do my video project ?

hello, my name is jerome, I live in France and I'm 17.
I saw on youtube a beautiful video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq3qnzA5_Dg&feature=g-like&context=G1249eALTukgbgAAAA ) and I would like to learn to do the same "video annimation".
I'm a beginner, and I never used any Adobe's software...
Could you tell me please with witch software can I do the same ? (maby a GIF software ?)
Thank you, have a nice day

    Hello Jerome,
Looking at that example, it appears that much of it, might have been done in a program, like Adobe Illustrator, and then assembled in Premiere, or more probably in Adobe After Effects, which is somewhat similar to Premiere, but with some big differences - rather than being a video editing program, it is a "compositing" program, and is very often used to composite images for animation.
Some of what we saw, can be completed in Premiere Elements, but the origination of the art, i.e. the forest of dead trees, the walking man, etc., came from another program.
In the case of both the trees, and the man, they were created with what is called an Alpha Channel, which separates them from the background - remember the opening shot of the trees? We see the clouds and sky between the "trees," so there is Transparency around those trees. Same for the man. Had he been a real human, he would have been shot against a greenscreen, and then the background would be Keyed out. In the case of drawn objects, the background is set up to be Transparent to begin with, so any is held back by the Alpha Channel.
Now, there are ways to easily animate some things in PrElements, such as the clouds passing by in the opening scene with the trees. That could be done by Keyframing the Fixed Effect>Motion>Position (for the clouds), over time. Same for the image of the man, before we see his legs moving - a Still Image of the man could be easily Keyframed on the same Effect>Motion>Position.
However, when we see his legs move, that becomes a bit more difficult, in that it would require many more Still Images, with the legs in different places. In PrE, if given enough Still Images, with the legs in different places, one would just use a Cross-Dissolve Transition between them, but for more fluid movement (not loooking so much like Stop Motion), the Tweening capability in After Effects would be very, very handy.
There is a lot going on in that piece, and I would venture that several different programs were used to create what we saw.
    Here is my "guess" list:
Adoboe Illustrator for creation of the majority of the elements
Adoboe After Effects for compositing those elements and then animating
Adobe Premiere to do the final editing of output from After Effects, to get the final
I would drop the creator an e-mail, introduce yourself, express your interest in doing similar in the future, and ask how that was created. Were it my creation, I would tell you everything, in hopes of helping you get started.
    Good luck,

  • Mouse goes dead when printer powered up

I have a Beige, but recently was given an early G3 iMac, 233mhz processor, 288mb ram.
I successfully installed OS 9.2.2 (starting with an OS 9.1 iMac disk..........the iMac had 8.6 on it) and updated the firmware; removed the hard drive, hooked it up to my Beige and copied some applications onto it.
    Everything works fine, except:
When my Brother printer (USB) is turned on, whether plugged directly into an original USB port or through a powered hub, the mouse icon still shows and moves, but clicking it does nothing.
This does not happen with the Beige. The printer works just fine plugged into the USB card or hub.
I have tried 2 mice and two keyboards; I have removed all the Brother software and extensions from the hard drive and reinstalled from the Brother CD. I have gone to Brother's website and looked for updates....nothing.
    Any ideas?

    Hi James.
Sounds like a hardware problem that could be unique to iMacs. It's probably best to drop in the CRT iMac forums and introduce yourself. Chances of finding a fellow traveller with a similar experience is greater there.

  • Import photos of iphone is not recognize already imported photos

I had Lightroom installed on my Windows notebook, but now i bought a Macbook. So I installed Lightroom 5.3 also on my Macbook. Before I could attach my iphone by usb and then i select to import. I cannot import 2000 photos again and tag them again :-((

gdgmacguy, so basically you introduce yourself to me as someone who is a *****.  I appreciate that as it was so hard to tell by reading your post.  To your point, I always, since my very first iphone, had the photos sync automatically with my pc.  I guess I assumed it was part of the sync process because up until this last update it worked every time.  So now that I know, thanks to your sarcastic wisdom, that it was never a feature the brainiacs at apple thought would be usefull, I have now narrowed down the problem and will continue to try and figure out why prior to the latest itunes update my photos automatically synced with my HP and now, after the update, they don't.  Perhaps, some tweak apple made in the sync process is messing up my HP software that would automatically detect and download the pics.  Considering this last update also prevented me from accessing the itunes store (search the forums because many people have the same problem) I assumed it may have had something to do with this as well.  I figured out the solution to my problem with the itunes store and posted it on line to help people.  And guess what, I did it without having to lower myself to sarcasm too.  Something you may want to work on.  Otherwise, don't bother trying to help people like me when they simply ask a question and describe the problem they are having.  Clearly you don't take the time to try and understand the question.  Point is it sure seemed to me that my pics were syncing before update and not after.  Now it may not be how the iphone is supposed to work and must have been my HP software but the reason it isn't working now sure appears to coincide with the latest update.  Now don't bother responding because I could really care less for your opinion at this point anyway.  Go be a jerk to someone else if it makes you feel better.

  • Mixed resukts with AIM

I am trying to set up video chat with two PC users
One has an AOL account and if he intiates a video chat we connect fine, but if I ask for a video chat then he gets a message "behind different firewalls" and I get a failed to respond message with me as the failure.
The other user can't get a video chat either way with alternate messages of either of us failing to respond.
I have a friend on a Mac and we can talk/view fine.
So can I assume that my setup is OK
Is it all down to the pc users?
I have enabled ports in OSX firewalls and allowed all UDP and TCP in my router.
Aim 5.9 on other PC I believe I can vouch for one but not the other.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks

    Hi David:
You mention that if you initate the conference to the windows user that you get the failed to repond. That is likely a cause of the router or firewall settings on the windows machine, thus not being able to connect.
Check out this sight: http://www.mvldesign.com/videoconferencetutorial.html for some great tips for windows users (it's towards the bottom)
As far as the other user, you need to confirm he has AIM 5.9, not tritan as tritan is not capable of doing video as of yet with iChatAV. AIM 5.9 can be found at: http://www.aim.com/getaim/win/otherwin.adp?aolp=
I'd also recommend having the windows user connect to a Mac user that has a known configuration that works with both. I know mine does, so feel free to contact me at my AIM screen name (same as on here), just introduce yourself via chat first and I'll be happy to help.
    Best of luck!

  • Using a TCP/IP Connection to REQUEST and RECEIVE data from a iDRX Signal Conditioner through a EIS-2B Server

First let me say that I am new to labview, please bear with me.  I want to use Labview to querry a iDRX thermocouple signal conditioner using tcp/ip.  The signal conditioner is wired to a EIS-2B server.  The server is at 198.162.10.53 and port 2000.  The data request command is *10x01\r and the expected data to be returned is 01X01+00064.6 (or whatever the actual temperature is).  The conditioner and server are working and testing correctly using the iDRX supplied software.
My attached vi runs, creates no errors, but returns no data either.  I can find many examples of how to set up a listener, but I need to QUERRY and then RECEIVE the data.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Alyeska!  Welcome to the forums!
I took a quick look at the VI, and I have four quick suggestions for
you that may give us some information about what is happening.
You may be experiencing an error that just isn't detected by the VI -
normally we add an error handling VI at the end of program execution to
report any errors that occurred.  Also, it's helpful to have a way
to exit the while loop so that the program can finish executing if an
error occurs.  Third, you may need to introduce a delay between
the query and the read command to allow the server time to process and
respond to the request.  Lastly, if you already know how long the
return message will be, you should wire this length to the Bytes to
Read input of the TCP Read VI so it knows to return the data once it
receives that number of bytes.  I've attached a modified version
of the VI incorporating these - give this a try, and let us know if you
still see an error, and if so, what error.  Also, if you haven't
taken a look at it already, there are excellent resources for learning
LabVIEW at the LabVIEW Fundamentals page - it's a great way to introduce yourself to LabVIEW and get up to speed quickly.
    Cheers,
