Introduction and downloading Safari

OK folks, I give up .... I'm lost. I don't know how to even get started with Safari. How and where do I download this software? I have found loads of information about Safari, 'What's new?', 'Importing exporting bookmarks' etc., but I just can't find out where to download it. I thought I'd found it once, the page was titled 'Safari Support' in big letters and on the right was the word 'Installation'. "Ah, found it at last" I thought, but when I clicked on it I found myself reading about installing Tiger. "What! Where did that come from?"
I went to the Download page and typed 'Safari' in the search box, but anything but Safari popped up in search results. So please, help me out here folks, I usually have problems understanding computers and web sites, embarrass me and show me what an idiot I've been and show me how it's been staring me in the face. How do I get started with this programme? How do I install this programme?

Ah, drat, can't have it then eh! Well, actually, it looks like it might not solve the problem I've got anyway because I've just seen a posting asking why Safari hasn't got 128 encryption. I'm having problems joining PayPal because I can't see their Joining page and it might be the encryption rate, or the cookies need deleting. I've got the most up-to-date Internet Explorer. I know they've stopped upgrading and supporting that now. Anyway, thanks for the Icab suggestion.

  • How can I get rid of my messed up browser look and download Safari original look again in simple terms please.

    I loved Safari and was using it getting to know it...then messed it up now the only thing that shows when I open it is some bookmarks.. I cannot acccess the safari icon logo...or drop down boxes to change anything...and I cannot open more than one page at a time. I like Safari as when it first was downloaded so I removed it. I reinstalled from the web but the new one shows up the same as the old one I removed.
    How can I get the old gone for good so I can have the original Safari download windows 7 64 bit...thank you... yakay

  • NetApp Manageability (NM) SDK 5.4 - Introduction and Download Information

    The NetApp Manageability SDK provides resources to develop applications that monitor and manage NetApp storage systems. SDK Help provides information about core APIs, which provide infrastructure to invoke Data ONTAP® APIs, OnCommand Unified Manager [DataFabric Manager] APIs . The NetApp Manageability SDK 5.4 supports API Bindings for both Data ONTAP® APIs and OnCommand® Unified Manager APIs. The API Bindings libraries contain interfaces to establish a connection with either the Data ONTAP server or the Unified Manager [DataFabric Manager] server. By using these libraries, you can create applications to access and manage clustered Data ONTAP or OnCommand Unified Manager. NetApp Manageability SDK 5.4 API Bindings includes the following new feature:API Bindings for Data ONTAP 8.2.3 and 8.3.1 NetApp Manageability SDK 5.4 API Bindings are available free of cost to customers and partners. You must accept the End User License Agreement at the time of downloading the NetApp Manageability SDK 5.4 API Bindings. Download Information: NMSDK is available free-of-charge through the NetApp Support site. To access NMSDK, partners and customers need to sign-up for it. Create a NetApp Support Site login, if you do not have one.
    http://mysupport.netapp.com Download NMSDK package. You can find the zip file at the following location on the NetApp Support Site:

    Since the Perl bindings to the XML API is mapped in the OntapClusterAPI.pm library file, this is one correction you can make yourself.   In OntapClusterAPI.pm, each entity - APIs, Types, etc. - is described as a hash.  The "service-processor-info" type is defined on line 67693 of the SDK 5.4 version.  In the "fields" key, I added an appropriate entry to define "ipmi-version" as follows: 'service-processor-info' => {   'category' => 'service-processor',
       'fields' => {
          'device-revision' => {
             'type' => 'string',
             'flags' => 4,
             'scope' => [],
          'firmware-version' => {
             'type' => 'string',
             'flags' => 4,
             'scope' => [],
          },## more fields here - skipped for brevity    },}, Add an entry in the 'fields' key as:       'ipmi-version' => {
             'type' => 'string',
             'flags' => 4,
             'scope' => [],
          }, And now the API call will work because the Perl binding will understand everything coming back from the ZAPI call... C:\work\test>ipmi.pl
    $VAR1 = {
          'attributes' => {
                'service-processor-info' => {
                      'firmware-version' => '1.4.1P3',
                      'type' => 'sp',
                      'ip-address' => {
                            'ip-address' => [
                                        'XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX'
                      'part-num' => 'Not Applicable',
                      'device-revision' => 'Not Applicable',
                      'is-ip-configured' => 'true',
                      'is-autoupdate-enabled' => 'true',
                      'ipmi-version' => '2.0',
                      'status' => 'online',
                      'node' => 'xxxxxxxxx',
                      'mac-address' => '00:11:22:33:44:55',
                      'serial-num' => 'Not Applicable'
     Yes, you may notice, I eschew the PowerShell toolkit in favor of Perl even though I typically use a Windows scripting box.  The Perl API bindings are way more expressive and convenient than is the PowerShell toolkit, espeically when accessing Advanced or Diagnositic level ZAPIs. Hope this helps you! Bob

  • Can't download safari

    Hi
    I need to download the latest version of Safari to be able to use Itunes, and am having some trouble downloading it.
    I currently have a MacBook with Mac OSX version 10.5.2, and am running Safari 3.04 on it.
    I have tried to download Safari version 4.04 from the Apple website but there are only links to downloads for users with Tiger, Leopard and Snowleopard.
    I would have thought I could download the version for Tiger as the requirement is Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 and Security Update 2009-002 or later, but it doesn't work.
    I'm not actually sure if I'm currently running Leopard or Tiger but I have Expose and Spaces and I think that's only on Leopard?
    Do I need to get a new operating system installed to be able to download Safari?
    Thanks so much

    HI,
    *"I have tried to download Safari version 4.04 from the Apple website but there are only links to downloads for users with Tiger, Leopard and Snowleopard."*
    You are running Leopard 10.5
    You need to be running 10.5.8 in order to download the current version of Safari.
    Download and install the 10.5.8 Combo Update available here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
    Restart your Mac after the update is installed.
    Then go here and Download Safari for Leopard
    After you have installed Safari, repair disk permissions.
    Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

    Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
    First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
    Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
    When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
    I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

  • Downloaded Safari Update and Now Safari Won't Open

    This past Sunday I was informed that I needed to download an update for Safari. I did this (during a major thunderstorm, but never lost power) and everything seemed to go through properly and worked normally. I restarted my computer when it prompted me to do so. A couple hours later I tried to get on the internet and nothing happened. The icon bounced a couple times and Safari's name popped up at the top of my computer next to the apple icon, but no window opened. I tried to hit open new window and so on....when I got frustrated and quit Safari it told me me that I had like 7 windows open and did I still want to quit. I clicked yes and then another window popped up stating that Safari encountered a problem and needed to close unexpectedly. I reported it to apple like 12 times. When I called apple they expected me to pay for them to fix it, even though his explanation was "This version of Safari is probably not compatible with Tiger". The other issue is that my disc drive went bad a couple years ago and I never fixed it, so I could not re-install the original Safari. Can anyone help me fix my internet without having to pay a computer store??

    HI,
    If the optical disk is broken, then you can't use your install disk to repair the startup disk if necessary.
    Try booting in Safe Mode
    It takes a little longer then a normal boot. Once you are in Safe Mode launch Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities)
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    Click Verify.
    At least this way you will know if there are problems with your startup disk before trying to troubleshoot Safari.
    When you are finished click the Apple Menu / Restart.
    Also I was able to delete my cache and now I can make an attempt to open a new tab, but then it immediately closes and gives me the unexpectedly had to quit message this time with a new number at the end of that KERN blah blah blah one and that number if it helps is 0x0000000c
    If the startup disk is ok, post a crash report.
    If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
    Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

  • Safari won't open certain web pages and download/stream speed slow

    I have recently been experiencing problems with viewing certain websites, content on websites, streaming video, and downloading files. Sometimes the website will load but all the images will be blue question marks. I cannot get anything to load on youtube. Streaming video on Netflix is really slow as well. My bandwidth allowance on my network is 3 mbps (I'm the only user) and I have been getting between 40-300 kbps when downloading things. I have restarted Safari, my computer, and still no change. Any idea on what's going on? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    You're not alone. Others, especially with early MacBooks, have reported slower Safari performance after updating to OS X 10.6.8. and Safari 5.1
    Using any popular search engine with the terms "mac os x 10.6.8 slow internet" will reveal dozens of similar complaints.
    I did too with my mid-2007 MacBook, similar to yours, except I have 4GB RAM (3 GB usable). After a few days of 'spinning beachball' I restored my system to OS X 10.6.7 and internet performance returned to what I remembered.

  • Using Safari 5.1.7, I found a book on a web site that is free and downloadable, but when I click Save As, the Save button is grayed out.

    Today (1/11/13) I found an online book, a .pdf file ( a math book from the Univ. of MI) that is advertised as free and downloadable. However, when in Safari I click on File/Save As, the window that opens has the Save button grayed out. The window opens with "Export as ..., and the name of the pdf file appears in the export window.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Update:  changed the AppleScript to add a one second delay between entering the file name and hitting return in the save dialog. Seems to be working now. I guess hitting save so quickly after the dialog popped up was fubaring things.  Still wonder why...

  • I downloaded lion and now safari doesn't work

    After downloading the mountain lion upgrade my safari would not open.  I updated the software, turned off the computer and restarted.  It still won't work.  It's not an internet problem because I can use firefox.
    Does anybody know how to fix this?

    Where are you opening Safari, from the Dock or from the Applications folder?
    If from the Dock, try opening from the Applications folder.
    If that works, remove the Safari icon in the Dock and Drag Safari from the Applications folder onto the Dock.
    If you had moved Safari out of the Applications folder (even into a subfolder), then move it back to the Applications folder.
    If you did move it or none of the above solves it, reinstall the OS (installing the 10.8.2 combo update may be sufficient, but I'm not sure).
