Invalid column name in my trigger -- why do I get this error?

Question

I have a table called ConfNums_Exec which contains a column named ReportType (varchar(50)).  Here is the trigger I am trying to create but get  the error that ReportType is an invalid column.  What am I doing wrong?
create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
if ReportType <> 'Exec'
Begin
   rollback tran
   raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
End
return

create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
declare @ReportType varchar(50)
select @ReportType=ReportType from inserted
if @ReportType <> 'Exec'
Begin
rollback tran
raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
End
return
PLEEEEEEEASE! Don't post such bad examples. A trigger fires once per statement, and a trigger must be able to multiple-row operations. Since you hang out a bit in these forums, you should know this by now. Here is a good version of the trigger:
create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM inserted WHERE ReportType <> 'Exec')
Begin
rollback tran
raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
End
return
An even better solution would be a CHECK constraint:
ALTER TABLE dbo.ins_ExecConfNums
ADD CONSTRAINT dbo.ConfNums_Exec_ck (CHECK ReportType = 'Exec')
