"invalid content in journal" - please help!
I was trying to install a USB wi-fi dongle. While doing this, I got spinning wheel and eventually I restarted from power button as couldn't even force quit.
Then Mac wouldn't start up.
I ran disk repair from install disk. It said all was OK, but when I ran verify disk is said "invalid content in journal". Ran repair again, said it was OK, but verify gave same response.
I tried adding code in Terminal as per another post on here
/System/Library/Filesystems/hfs.fs/hfs.util -N /dev/IDENTIFIER
but got message about no such disk.
Any ideas? I now can't start my laptop!
I'm running 10.6.4 on a 2009 MacBook Pro 13in.
Please help!

My Iomega Prestige external hard drive has just developed a problem—the exact same problem addressed in a 2008 thread in these discussion boards. I can no longer mount the HD on my desktop. I have run Repair Disk in Disk Utility. The following error shows up in red: "Invalid content in journal." There's a bunch of additional gobbledy-gook, but Disk Utility then tells me that "The volume Prestige was repaired successfully." Alas, not so. I still cannot mount the disk, and when I run Verify Disk in Disk Utility, the same error appears. Endless cycle, pain in the butt.
As I said, this exact same problem was addressed in a 2008 thread (I hope that link works), and a solution was proposed using Terminal and the instructions posted here. Well, that was six years ago, and I cannot get that solution to work now. I have a two-year old MacBook Pro with an Intel processor, and I have Mac OS 10.8.5.
Can somebody please help me out? Please?!Do you have access to another computer to see if the drive will mount there?
I obviously don't know what is on the drive, but reformatting the drive might help. -

No one here can help you, & Apple can't/won't help you. Fact is, there is no way to get that iPhone officially unlocked. Only Softbank can authorize the official unlocking of your phone, but they won't. Softbank does not offer official unlocking for any iPhone.

i got my friend to help not sure if your having the same problem but i had to download stuffit expander from the app store to expand the zip files that you initially download you should be able to open them and enter serial number from there
don't know if that helps theres no where that tells you how to do that so its extremely frustrating..

When i check the reports of the technical content, i can only see the the Techcnical name of the Info Package.
Even if i choose display as " Key & Text " still unable to see the Ipak descreption in the report.
I have checked old 3.X statistics, i think, its the same issue there aswell.

I have applied the SAP Note 1088038 and tried loading 0tctprcsvar_text.
When i have checked in PSA, i can see the descreption of the Ipak.
But, if i maintain the master data and see that, the long descreption is blank.
Its not getting populated.

Content VANISHED! Please Help...
So, I have....er, rather HAD SEVERAL GIGS of music and audiobook content on my iPod to the point of the iPod being nearly full.
After the recent IOS updated, now it seems that 80% of the content on my iPod has vanished--No all content has vanished--just randomly, most of it.
***? Anyone else experience this?
How do I get my content back?
I typically load content (mp3) onto the iPod by dragging the files from Finder straight into the iPod in iTunes rather than copying them to iTunes Library then copying them once more onto the iPod.
Using iTunes/MacBook Pro.

Unfortunately, I do not have my content in my iTunes Library. However, I did back-up the ipod to the Cloud prior to updating IOS.
Now, the reason I do not add the content to my iTunes Library BEFORE adding it to my iPod is because adding content to my iTunes Library seems to create another copy of the content. For example, let's say I have a .mp3 file in a folder on my hard drive. When I drag that .mp3 into iTunes Library, it seems to create a copy of the file in the iTunes Library. So, then I am consuming twice the space on my hard drive.
For this reason, I have been just dragging the content from the folder on my hard drive straight into the iPod as it shows up in iTunes.
Am I mistaken in my belief that adding the content to iTunes creates a second content content file in the iTunes Library?
Back to my original problem, if I can't figure out how to restore my iPod from the Cloud back-up, it sounds like I am screwed and must re-add the content to my iPod--several gigs--all over again. Now, if iTunes does NOT create a copy of the content such that I have one file in the MP3 folder on my hard drive and yet another file in my iTunes Library folder, then I will re-add the content to my iTunes Library first before adding it to the iPod.

Problem expanding contents of directories, PLEASE HELP
This problem is not just ITUNES specific, it seems to happen throughout the OS...whenever there is a directory with subcontents, for instance, in my podcast area of itunes...i will see a grey arrow next to the podcast, and by clicking that arrow, the individual podcasts will expand down and be visible. So, lets say i click on the arrow and expand the directory, if i just click on the arrow again to collapse it again, it wont do anything. The only way i can get it to collapse is to click somewhere else to highlight something else and then go back and click on the arrow ...then and ONLY then will it collapse, but not before i click somewhere else.
This problem also seems to happen in the finder. Is there somekind of system preference setting to modify this or something, because it is extremely frustrating as i work with many podcasts and having this trouble with something as simple as expanding and collapsing directories is maddening. Any feedback or help would be so very much appreciated.

Roger, I am running Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.11), and was syncing iCal perfectly fine with MobileMe for years. When incident ocurred, I restored all calendars. But as you mentioned when using Leopard, the automatic sync feature deleted all restored calendars. I had the same exact issue - even using Tiger.
John, iCal won't even open any more without locking up entire computer. So, I'm unable to add new events.
Arelunde, none of my calendars were listed in the left pane to check or uncheck the boxes. They all just disappeared, everything was blank. That was when I could still open it...
Ultimately ended up at the Genius Bar, and Apple no longer supports this iBook G4. The Genius tried to help me anyway, but couldn't do anything to salvage iCal for local use only (without syncing), because the program locked up the computer when trying to open it. All lost accounts in Mail have to be added back in manually. No explanation for disappearance of accounts (I use a few Comcast email addresses), or total deletion of Sent Folder contents. I do not intend on upgrading this computer again to Leopard. I have been told the OS upgrade is not all that compatible, nor worth the effort. So it is time for a new computer.
Lesson learned is that the computer is no longer a local-use-only type of device with selective syncing, which is how I was using it as such (and completely content with) in the past. Apparently, syncing has become automatic if you use anything on the Apple servers. Unless, I'm missing something, everything you have will sync now, whether or not you want it to.
But, my thanks and gratitude for all of your replies. I guess nearly 8 years of use is a good run for this one!

I am deploying our Portal application and portlets in a clustered environment. We have three machines and following weblogic servers are started in each machine:
Machine1 - Admin Server
Machine2 - Portal1, Portlet1
Machine3 - Portal2, Portlet2
Portlets are deployed on portlet servers (portlet 1 and portlet 2). When I deployed the Portal application I intentionally registered portlet producer pointing to 127.0.0.1:8889, thinking that it will work for both portals since the portlet server is in same machine as well..
So my assumption is :
Portal1 will always load portlet from Portlet1 server and
Portal2 will always load portlet from Portlet2 server
but I am getting following error now... don;t have a clue what to do.. This is very urgent, I am working over the weekend over this.. any help would be highly appreciated..

I have a portal server, that consumes the remote portlet which is deployed on a cluster environment (Server1 and Server2). When i register my remote portlet, sometimes the registration handle holds info about server1 and sometimes it is server2. When the registration handle holds info about Server1, my application is working fine in the portal. Whereas when the registration handle holds the info about Server2. It throws the exception as:
Invalid handle "C:10.10.0.42:-a3eb70c:130d71f8067:-7ff9".[[
oracle.portlet.server.containerimpl.ContainerObjectNotFoundException: Object named "registration" could not be found in the persistent store.

Creating eLearning Content Using Flash - Please Help
I am tasked with creating eLearning training using Flash. I know how to create flash movies, tweens, etc. I am also pretty well versed with Dreamweaver, HTML, etc.
But how do you create the fixed header and a footer with navigation and the navigation between 30 to 40 "pages" or "movies"? I am assuming there is some automated method to create navigation...
We want a fixed header, fixed navigation in a footer, movie content in the center, and the ability to automatically move from "page" to page and also allow the student to click Next and Previous buttons to move from page to page.
I would greatly appreciate a link to a tutorial or any advice on getting started.

Check in help under the Tutorial section for "Add motion
tweens"
Basically you need to import your images, convert them to
instances like
movie clips or graphics symbols then motion tween them to get
them move
and use color effect Alpha to get them to fade in.
Check the help first and tell me how far can you get from
there, whatever
problem you face, post back, will help you go ahead with it.

Can't stream content from PC - please help!
Is there a techy person out there who can help me please?
We have a Sony BluRay/Home theatre system, a desktop PC and a couple of laptops connected our home network, run on a BT homehub (v 2 I think - the curved black one - not the latest one on the adverts).
Until recently all was fine and we were able to stream movies etc from the PC to the TV via the home theatre system. Then about a week ago a BT engineer came out (about the 6th guy to try to solve our speed/connection dropping problems; BT are on "last chance" before we cancel, but don't get me started on that!!) Anyway all worked fine till this latest guy came and tweaked whatever he tweaked, and now the PC doesn't show up on the network. We've tried restarting the PC, resetting the hub and various bits in the home theatre system's set-up, but nothing works. We're no experts (clearly!) but we're not complete technophobes either and we don't know what else to try. Any ideas??? thanksTry this first.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings below for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Test if this resolves the problem.
