Invalid file header - pink noise on audio recording

Hi I sometimes get pink noise on a recorded audio region.. when i reload the song Logic alerts me: invalid file header repair? it fixes it, but it *****

LpGroove,
Take a look at the Movie Creation Guide (in your product and also at: http://www.soundblaster.com/products...ationGuide.pdf) chapter 7, and page 7-6 in particular. Make sure your audio source is connected to the correct audio inputs (near the video inputs) and the Creative Mixer settings are correct.

  • SIMPLE QUESTION, BROWNIE POINTS FOR ANSWERERS: changing the file path used for an audio recording

After changing the name of an audio recording in the .band Media folder, the .band file continues to use the previous file name to try to find the audio file. I want to update the file path so that it uses the same file but with the new name. I thought I might be able to change the file path by editing projectData, but it appears to be encoded.
This is a common, crucial feature present in virtually all DAWs. Surely there must be a feasible way to do this in GarageBand?

you can't change the names of GB's assets behind its back
if you want to change the name of the region that GB displays: double click the region within GB to open the track editor, then double click the name of the region (in the track editor) to change its name

  • SE16N Export Local File - Header Line Every 60,000 Records

    Good Day,
After a recent system upgrade to SAP ECC 6.0 Release 701, Level 007 (from Level 004), we received word that exporting to a local file from SE16N now creates a header line after every 60,000 records.  This occurs on both SAP GUI 7.10 Patch 15 and SAP GUI 7.20.
We found notes 1309128 and 1017586, but our service pack level already implements the correction instructions listed. Is there a parameter (either system wide or SAP GUI specific) that needs to be set to disable the header lines? Is there anything else that we can check?
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide!

    Hi,
    Sure it is unusual.
have you checked whether the "header" was not repeated in the internal table itself?
    Best regards,
    Guillaume

  • Os X Mountain Lion and Logic Pro, Garageband Audio Recording Driver Update

HI just purchased the os x mountain lion upgrade....and ever since my recording software like logic pro and even garageband audion recording is given me a problem .....ive been getting loud static noise during audio recording.....is there an update that will fix these issues...need to know

  • Audio Files space usage:  noise versus silence

Continuing on from my recent Disk Usage thoughts:
I've noticed that we arm a Logic track connected to a microphone, and begin recording the microphone from the very start of the song, even if the singer doesn't actually start singing until, say, bar 8.
So in the Audio Region, we see a flatline waveform for the first 8 bars before they start singing.
Turning my thoughts to disk space usage:
I've just read the section in the manual that says 1 minute of monophonic audio recorded at 16-bit dynamic resolution and 44.1 kHz frequency consumes 5 Mb of hard disk space.
Does 8 bars of silence use the same amount of disk space as 8 bars of singing? (I assume so - silence would be represented by, at 16-bit dynamic resolution, 16 digital zeros, whereas a sample of noise would 16 ones and zeros)
Moving on - let's assume that a singer has just sang on a track and I have an Audio Region that shows the first 16 bars as being silent. If I'm correct, using the scissors tool and removing the first 16 bars of the Audio Region does not affect the underlying audio file (my understanding: Audio Regions are simply pointers to an underlying file).
So how would I remove silence from the start of an underlying audio file? Do something in the Sampler (double clicking the Audio Region brings up something I think is called the Sampler)?

Does 8 bars of silence use the same amount of disk space as 8 bars of singing?
    Yes, in this case.
Audio Regions are simply pointers to an underlying file).
    Yes.
So how would I remove silence from the start of an underlying audio file?
Adjust the region to your liking, go to audio window, select unused, delete (just removes files or regions from session)
Then select the file and hit optimize or select the file's used regions and create new, then delete old later.
This is safer than optimizing the file, but ore steps.

  • Validate Technical Information from Flat File header record

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know the best way to validate data from a flat file where the layout has a header containing the number of records sent and the total amount distributed along the file content.
Please, notice we have a commom layout where the first 3 fields are only used by header record (record type = 00)
    For example:
RECORD TYPE     NUMBER OF RECORDS     TOTAL AMOUNT     COST CENTER     AMOUNT
              00                              3                                  250,00
              01                                                                                1000000             100,00
              01                                                                                2000000             100,00
              01                                                                                1000000               50,00
So, let´s suppose I received the file content above and I have recorded all 4 records in a first DSO. The next step I would like to load to a different DSO the records where RECORD TYPE = 01 (business) data. That´s OK.
The header record where RECORD TYPE = 00 (technical data) has to be uploded to a log DSO validating the total amount (250,00) and number of records (3)  sent in the file. This line will be further exported as a validation information.
Well, any suggestions how to validate the data as described above?
Any information will be fully appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Fabio,
You seem to compare the first record of file or header record with the collated values of rest of the records in the flat file.
Simple way would be to do validation separate and load the file...
create a function module to read a file...
compare the first record with the collated values in the rest of file.
If the file seems to be okay, then loading is your choice...

I am getting this error whenever I try to play its file type on my MacBook Pro,"The document “VN622195.WMA” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized."

The mac has no native way to read .wma files (these are Windows Media Audio files).  Do a search on the internet for playing wma files on a mac.  You will find several links to solution (one is to use flip4mac).

  • Why do I keep losing audio/recorded tracks and SFX in my projects? I have tried: Saving as archive file/searching package contents etc. to no avail. Can anyone help?

Why do I keep losing audio/recorded tracks and SFX in my projects? I have tried: Saving as archive file/searching package contents etc. to no avail. Can anyone help? It keeps telling me 'Audio file not found', and seems to be different tracks in the same project each time too.

I also have this problem using Garageband in a school network situation when students open their project on one station, save it to their network drive, and later open it at a different station.  90% of the time there will be no issue, but sometimes audio files are lost. (Garageband '11, iMacs)
That sounds like it might be a failure of the students to perform a Save As and check Archive Project when they do. This asks GB to pull all the files it needs into the associated .band document rather than point to them externally (and then risk not having them be there).

  • Use field from file header record in detail records

    Hi,
I receive a file with different records type (transmission header, file header, detail records, file footer). The fields in each record type are different. The transmission header tells me who the sender of the file is. I need this information, because I am merging data of various senders into one table.
When processing the files, I need to split each file according to recordtype. (I can not use the same logic for each recordtype). How can I populate an extra column in the detail files with the value from the header record?
What I tried so far is the following:
    - Populate a global variable using a script: This does not seem to work in the context of dataflows.
    - Create a 'join' between header record and detail record. However there are no fields I can join, so Data Services is not happy with that.
    - Store the field value from the header record in a DS (I chose a cache datastore, memory datastore did not work in batch scenario. I feel I can get this to work, but it seems quite an elaborate and expensive solution: First Filter the header record from the file, write the required field to the cache datastore, then read the same file but now filter the detail records, and join this with the datastore.
Is there a better way to do this? I was hoping I could just use a script and read the first line of my file and move the value to a global variable....
It would be great if someone could give me some tips...
    Many thanks,
    Jan.

    Hi Werner,
I am not sure if I understand you correctly.
I have declared $State as a global variable, not as a parameter.
When I check my custom function I do get a warning that a variable is called which is not declared.
I thought I did not have to worry about this as the variable does exist within the job where the function is called.
It looks like I can not set a value to a global variable in a custom function.
Is that correct, or is there something wrong with my syntax?
Really the only reason I call a custom function is to set the global variable, so I could even make my function as simple as this:
    $State = 'NSW';
    Return 0;
    It still doesn't work...
    Any idea why?
    Thanks,
    Jan.

Why is my audio recording that has been burnt to CD-R not playing on other audio equipment - its says no file or cant play.
What is the correct steps for burning the CD. I followed the help guide and done excatly what is said.
    Can someone please help?
    Thnks.

did you burn it as a CD for audio CD players....or as a data disk?  big difference.
Also could be the media type (seen that issue endless times)....... try a diff. CD media.  There are countless burn layers and CD blank media, no player or burner on earth can read or write to them all.
burn another blank CD to make sure it wasn't a bad CD,.......reject ratio on bad CD and DVD is about 5-15% depending on type.
Ive burned enough reject DVD and CD to fill a house

  • Updated: Firewire audio recording on brand new iMac makes weird digital noise

I am running Ableton Live 8 Suite on a 2011 Entry level iMac. i am using an Maudio Firewire 410 with a FireWire 400 to 800 cable. recently when i record audio (say from a guitar) the audio will cut out and be replaced by a wierd low freq digital noise. i uploaded a clip of it. its not just static. it will come in and out as i play.
    http://cl.ly/3f3R2H2z3H3K3F3z1P3d
    Things i have tried:
    -different guitars
    -Maudio FireWire Solo (different interface)
    -uninstalled and reinstalled the driver
    -Different firewire cable
-turned off Bluetooth on computer and Bluetooth devices
    -turned off airport
when i restart the interface or computer it works for about 5-10mins then cuts out again...
but i still get normal audio through it (iTunes, internet, even Ableton)
it seems to be isolted to just audio input. i had multiple tracks playing in Live. my input was working fine but when it punched in to record it morphed to the weird digital noise.
i could record a single channel fine with nothing else playing but recording with multiple channels playing seems to "lock up" the audio though i am only using 25% CPU...
is this something with my iMac or Lion? i changed out interfaces, cables, and drivers....thats the only thing i can think of…
any thoughts from you smart people out there?

ok so i tried a differnet cable and the same thing happened...

  • When recording, strange noises and audio cut offs

When i open garageband and record a basic track (no other programs running), randomly, a scratchy noise that kinda sounds like a distorted, heavy metronome, comes from the left speaker or left headphone.
This noise is not recorded, but comes out very loudly in the monitor.
Also, when recording a basic track, the output audio will completely shut off from the monitor and from everything, but Garageband continues to record and the recording is not affected. This is a huge problem especially if im using a metronome or layering tracks. This does not affect iTunes or anything, JUST GarageBand
please help! should i bring it into a MacGenius?

    Hi ladyshade666-
Does it make this noise if you run the Mac with only the mouse, keyboard and monitor attached?
Are you absolutely sure the sound is coming from within the Mac? I have had a couple of FireWire disks that when connected inject all kinds of noise into my amplified speakers. I turn the drives off when I am in the studio.
Reverse polarity is very dangerous and will cause early demise of power supplies. You may also get yourself electrocuted. It may very well be the noise-causing difference in tour scenario.
I think your first call should be to an electrician.

  • Audio recording--files missing, duplicated, long inserted silence, and more

When we use Captivate 2 to record audio files we find that
when we go into the "edit timing" option, there are extra periods
of time--long blank silences--inserted into the project. We have
also noticed that some clips can get duplicated. We have also had
issues with the files not saving or, saving, but when we re-open
the .cp file there are random slides missing their audio files.
Most of our files are only 4-5 minutes long, but I have been
working on a 25 minute presentation and it has given me no end of
problems when i try to save or publish it. captivate stops
responding and i lose all my audio. any suggestions?

How large is your Captivate file?
I've noticed that on closing Captivate with a 100MB file
there is a significant delay in which Captivate seems to hang. If
you watch the target directory, the .cp file will "disappear" and
then reappear after some time, perhaps a minute or more. I'm
guessing that on my older laptop, Captivate is chugging along
behind the scenes, manipulating temp files or the like.
To cope, I'm using a brute force approach in which I have two
versions of each audio file: a tiny placeholder and the actual
audio file. The files are named the same but stored in folders
named Tiny (10 sec of silence) and Big (the actual audio file). I
use a third folder, named Working, to import audio. From
Captivate's point of view all audio paths point to the Working
    folder.
When I'm editing slide 15, I copy the tiny files for slides
1-14 into the working folder, overwriting the existing files. Then
I update the audio for slides 1-14, using the library's update
tool. As a result, the project size slims back down and saving the
project no longer take so long. At the end, I copy the full files
into the working folder, update, and publish.
As you might imagine audio file naming conventions are
important . You need to be able to see at a glance which audio goes
with which slides. If I use Captivate to record audio, I export the
file so I can store it in Big and then rename a copy of a tiny file
    to match it.
The down side is that the timing on closed captions seems to
be affected by substituting the tiny file for the full slide audio.
So, I wait to set up the timing for closed captions until the end
when I publish using the full files.
Even as I write this I wince. I certainly hope someone else
will suggest a more elegant way. My approach is not at all pretty
I've found it less frustrating than working with a sluggish
Captivate and putting up with the hangs I experienced prior to
    using tiny files.
