Invalid media. Cannot create file" popup when generating

Okay, the background. I'm currently using RoboHelp HTML 11.0.3.268, with the latest updates as I write this, having updated from RoboHelp HTML 9. (I know that people will ask, and I understand, so I'm stating as much information up front to ensure that nobody has any questions of their own.) My main RoboHelp project is broken down into eight separate subprojects, with an output of CHM and WebHelp HTML files. In addition, my supervisor had an issue with viewing the new RoboHelp 11-generated HTML files in Google Chrome, so I found and added the RH11 files recommended by RoboHelp Help (WebHelp issues in RoboHelp versions 10 and 11). Immediately after doing this, though, I cannot generate WebHelp files. As soon as I select between any of the WebHelp Settings menu, a popup appears that reads "Invalid media. Cannot create file", followed with the directory path of the project's main .htm page.  Short of reinstalling RoboHelp HTML, what options do I have to be able to generate a valid set of WebHelp files?

Here's the RH 11.0.3 files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B97LY22mEkjqemJobkRmRmg2RFU/view?usp=sharing Add the files to the template_stock folder.
The Chrome freezing up should be solved in RoboHelp 10/11. On RoboHelp 9, no amount of fixes will make Chrome work locally. If your manager tries the 11 WebHelp it should work fine.
Kind regards,
Willam

  • "Cannot Open File" error when generating CHM

    Hello,
We have a small help file that we have in our source control
(StarTeam), and it's built on a daily basis. It hasn't been updated
in quite a while, so it was a surprise that it suddenly generated
the following error during the weekend build:
    Cannot open the file
    "b:\Document\HelpFile\!SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\!chm_tmp_folder_0\HelpFile.hhc".
The CHM is normally built by running RH 7 via a command line
in StarTeam. I tested it today by running it manually and received
the same error. When I click "OK" on the error message, it
continues building and finishes with the normal "view/close"
    message.
Anyone have an idea as to what may have caused this issue?
The immediate puzzle is to what changed that would have caused this
error, as we haven't updated this help file in several months (so
there shouldn't be any changes within the help file).
And to pre-empt the usual first response, we have a copy of
RH 7 on the build machine itself, so it shouldn't be a "running
    over a network" issue. ;*)

Quick update: I had the chance today to check out the files
and build them locally on my machine with my copy of RH7.
It appears to build normally for me, and I'm not getting the
error message being generated on the build machine.
This leads me to think something on the machine has changed,
but I'm still at a loss as to what it might possibly be.

  • IMovie error - cannot create file when I attempt to share

I am using MAC OS X 10.9.5, iMovie 10.0.5.  I have successfully create many movies by using Share to file - of long and short sizes. This particular time I made couple of minor edits to my movie which had previous shared to file with no problem, and when I went to Share to File I get an error message. The Share fails with the error "cannot create file".
I have plenty of disk space.
All other applications are closed, just imovie running.
The destination is the mac internal hard drive.
I deleted imovie and re-installed it.
    I deleted the Render Files.
    No luck.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
    Super frustrated.
    Thanks.

you can download it from here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10057115&vid=11116557&mode=inf o
My only backup is version 8.2 and will not open my itunes library - is there a workaround for this?
    maybe. you could try this:
to downgrade to a previous iTunes version, you could try this user tip that seemed to have worked for some:
    +1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.
    good luck !

  • Cannot create file when trying to download

Have an early 2006 iMac 17 inch with Intel chip running OSX 10-47 using Safari
Quite suddenly, when I try to download anything (widgets, any applications etc) I now get the error message "Cannot create file" and am unable to download.
Safari used to work fine but now won't let me download anything!

It still sounds like you are trying to download to a
folder with insufficient permissions to allow you to
    create files.
Try creating a new folder on your Desktop, say
Downloads for example, and change the Safari
preferences so that this is the download location.
Now when you try to download, does it still fail?
If it does fail, try using Safari in another user
    account.
This will help us to know whether your problem is
local to your account or system wide. If you don't
have another account you can use System Preferences
    -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to
    remove it if needed)
OK I followed the suggestion and created a new folder for downloads in my own home directory as suggested and lo and behold, I can now download again!
    Thanks!
However, how did I suddenly lose permission to download to my desktop?

  • Error when Share to File "The share operation 'File' has failed. Cannot create file."

Upgraded to Mavericks and the new iMovie. Imported a video from iPhone 5 to edit, and then tried to Share File.
Error every time, it says that "The share operation 'File' has failed. Cannot create file." It does not give any error number that would help figuring out the problem.
Late 2011 MacBookPro with 8 GB and over 150 GB free on HD.
Imported several other videos from various sources, and always the same result when trying to Share to File.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retina; iMovie version 10.0.3. I'm not sure why either. It was working fine until one day it quit exporting to file at all.

  • Why do I get "Cannot create file" message in my download manager when I attempt to install Firefox?

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on a 1.6 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac. I uninstalled Firefox 3.6 from my according to directions on the Mozilla website. • LV 8.2.1 reinstallation error 1301: Cannot create file

    Hi,
I was forced to uninstall LV 8.2.1 and reinstall it. When I'm reinstalling LV 8.2.1 I get an error message
Error 1301. Cannot create file ". A directory with the same name already exists. Cancel the install and try installing to a different location.
    (Abort, Retry, Ignore).
This error is somehow related to the fact that after uninstalling LV 8.2.1 LabVIEW 8.2 installation directory still remains with some stuff in the user.lib and other folders. I'm always using OpenG packages and I didn't uninstall them so that may be the reason. I also used DataAct class browser with LabVIEW.
The problem is that I cannot uninstall my OpenG packages before I can get my LabVIEW installed again as VI Package Manager reposinsible for installing OpenG packages doesn't work without installed version of LabVIEW. And I cannot get my LabVIEW correctly installed because of this error. I can press ignore and the installation procedes but I don't know whet it didn't do because of the error.
I guess this error is a bug in LV 8.2.1 isntaller so would some of NI application engineers help, please.
    For now I press Ignore.

You will get this error if the installer is trying to install a file that has the same name as a folder at that location. For example lets say the installer has a file called "sample" that should go in LabVIEW\examples folder. Now lets say there was a folder called "LabVIEW\examples\sample". Windows wont let you copy that "sample" file in the same location that contains a "sample" folder. The failure is not an error in the installer.
The problem with the 8.2.1 installer is that it is not telling you what file this failure occurred on. It is trying to, but the string is not formatted correctly and it just says "cannot create file ." The actual file name should be where the "." is.
You can usually tell what file it failed on from the text above the progress bar where it says what file is being copied. The best way to see what failed was to get an installation log file.

  • Download error message - "Cannot Create File"

Recently I developed a problem and am unable to download anything (files, software, etc) from any website. I begin a download, the download manager comes up and it shows an error message "Cannot Create File." I am using the default manager that is incorporated in OS X 10.3.9.
I never had a problem until a week or so ago when I downloaded a software demo. I decided to get the full software package and trashed the demo files per the company's instructions. I got the error message when I tried to download the full program and now get the message no matter what I attempt to download. Might I have trashed a file I wasn't supposed to trash?
I tried installing 10.3.9 again on my main drive but still have the problem. If I use an external hard drive with spare copy of 10.3.9 and make that my start up drive, I can download files successfully.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot create file "/Applications/ " Permission denied.

When installing new software Iget the following error message: "Cannot create file "/Applications/ ". Permission denied. I have used disk utilities to try to repair my permissions with no sucsess. I have also tried reinstaling the software. Any advise is appreciated.
I am using Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and Safari 8.0.4

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

  • "Cannot create file" error in Safari

I've created a new user (my wife), and when attempting to download a new Widget in Safari, I'm getting a "Cannot create file" message in the Downloads window. When I log back in as myself, no problem, so I'm guessing the issue has to do with the new user. I also notice that Safari is still trying to use my old keychain, despite switching my wifes to the default. I've tried fixing permissions, etc, but no joy. Suggestions?

Nemmine. I had Safari set to save downloads to the Desktop, not realizing it was still trying to access my desktop, not my wifes. Browsed to the new desktop, problem solved.

  • Nothing will download..."cannot create file"

so my hard drive crashed on my macbook so i had to get it replaced and im trying to download everything i had before...and i've tried download 2 different things and neither of them will download. when it comes to the little box where the programs should download, it starts to download a little then it says "cannot create file" or something...does anyone know why this is happening? and what i can i do so programs download?
    thanks!

    Hi Gwendolyn -
Are you downloading with Safari? If so, try 'resetting safari' (in the Safari pull-down menu). Also try moving your download folder (or location) to a different place on your drive (Safari/Preferences/General). You could also try creating a new user and seeing if this works.
Run Disc Utility as well to repair permissions on your drive. Can't hurt.

  • Dashboard,cannot create file

when I try to download widgets, the download window appears and looks like it doing what it's supposed to, but then it says it cannot create file. does anybody have any idea what the problem is. this also happens when i do software updates or any downloads.

Not sure, I'm fixin to check. This is my friends computer and I've been trying to debug it. It seems that she has a hacker with a personal vendetta against her. There is a duplicate hard drive that's taking up almost 30+ GB, I have trashed over 60,000 files including a pic of what the guy supposedly looks like. The thing is, is that I cannot delete or trash the duplicate drive as a whole, It's only working one by one so far. the drive is listed as mylocal, and it's where my computer should be in the finder column to the right, plus there is a network listed in the same column that has the eject icon beside it, but anytime I try to eject it sends me back to mylocal. If anybody can answer this, it would be greatly appreciated and more than the points you get awarded for helping, I think you will get alot of good computer karma out of it. thanks
