"Invalid number" - This is a _serious_ issue! Do something!

Oracle support team,
since no one has answered my question, I wonder if something has been unclear or if Oracle is just hiding. I had some correspondence on the Microsoft newsgroups and still am of the opinion that this is serious bug in the Oracle ODBC driver, which doesn't fully conform to the ODBC specs.
We're not talking about some little glitch here, but rather about a bug that prevents the functionality of a whole, commonly used, datatype on many international versions of Oracle. Searching through the logs, this problem has become apparent more than once, and should long have been fixed.
The problem mentioned here renders ODBC and therefore interaction with most, if not all, programs based on Microsoft Windows unusable when using an international version of Oracle. I just can't understand why you are not interested to do something about this.
Please do not ask me to ask tech support. I am certainly not going to pay $100 just to beg Oracle to fix a bug.
Regards
Markus

you want to see a major odbc bug...and nobody can answer to me..........i'm waiting since 4 days......
i appreciate an answer
how pass french characters or extended characters to a stored procedure by odbc
error: ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated
une chaine entre apostrophhes ne se termine pas correctement
oracle Retrieving extended characters thru ODBC
PL/SQL procedure parameters
hi, i hope you can help to me.
I have a problem with french and german characters.
i have a little stored procedure than return what i'm passing to him.
see these example: (the second one work fine on plsql)
first exemple:
1) i created a new odbc dsn
2) i'm going into sqlserver migration tab to choose
Enable Exac Syntax.
3) i'm open Winsql (this is a odbc tools)
http://www.indus-soft.com/winsql/
4) i'm write
exec ksp_test 0,'HiLLO ORACLE'
i receive this error:
Error: ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated
(State:S1000, Native Code: 6DC)
I trying to changed too the NLS_LANG in the registry
like FRENCH_CANADA.WE8ISO8859P1
French_France.WE8ISO8859P1
but without any success..
i got the same problem with
oracle 9 database with utf8 characters set.
oracle 8.1.7 with iso8859p1 characters set.
i trying all latest odbc driver from oracle website.
second exemple:
SQL> variable mytest refcursor;
SQL> exec ksp_test (0,'HiLLO ORACLE',:MYTEST);
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> PRINT MYTEST;
Your Database Value
HiLLO ORACLE
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE KSP_PLSQLRSETPKG
AS
TYPE RCT1 IS REF CURSOR;
END;
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE KSP_TEST (
PATCH INT DEFAULT 0,
PONC VARCHAR2,
RC1 IN OUT KSP_PLSQLRSETPkg.RCT1
AS
BEGIN
OPEN RC1 FOR
SELECT PONC "Your Database Value" FROM DUAL;
FROM DUAL;
RETURN ;
END;
i'm trying also different nls setting but no good result.
AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII
AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
FRENCH_CANADA.WE8DEC
FRENCH_CANADA.UTF8
FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252
FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8DEC
FRENCH_FRANCE.UTF8
FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252
is working well on sqlplus but not by odbc..
also..
i'm declare a variable and
i set
v_variable := 'id'
and the procedure return the good syntax...
i think is a odbc driver problem....
the driver don't want to accept a extended characters set by a parameters coming from the procedure.
can you confirm to me ..this is a major bug for the driver..
my procedure is very basic to make a little test.
did you try my procedure to be sure you have the same problem?
i try with a oracle instance utf8,WE8MSWIN1252 and
i got always the same problem.
if i write insert into test values ('di');
everything is fine...but when i call the procedure...
the procedure don't want to accept any german..french or any extended characters...
i need to confirm to me is a bug from the oracle odbc driver or if is possible to help me to find a way to pass theses characters to a stored procedure from odbc driver..
our application is working by odbc driver.
thank you very much.
i'm pretty sure is a bug in the driver ...the bug is coming only when i select "ENABLE EXEC SYNTAX" IN THE DSN (SQLSERVER MIGRATION SECTION) ... i try with Shema Database and Owner and Empty and i got
always the same problem
exec KSP_TEST 0,'TiEST'
------------------------>>>>>>>NOT WORKING.
BUT IF I WRITE
CALL KSP_TEST (0,'TiEST')
------------------------->>>>IS WORKING
if i select enable exec or i unselect enable exec...
the CALL KSP_TEST...... is always working properly.
BETWEEN THESE SYNTAX THE NLS_LANG IS NEVER CHANGED....
IS WORKING.....THE NLS_LANG IS GOOD.......because i make a little modification in procedure to be sure the INSERT IS inside the database CORRECTLY.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE KSP_TEST
PATCH INT,
PONC VARCHAR2
AS
v_test varchar2(100);
BEGIN
v_test := 'test';
INSERT INTO YYY VALUES (PONC);
END;

  • Is this a low memory issue, or something worse?

    I'm currently running Logic 9.1.6 on a new imac 27" with 16GB RAM. Just about all my libraries are running from a 4TB RAID system. It's not ideal for my purposes ( certainly compared to my "normal" studio setup), but I was delghted with just how much this computer can handle with that amount of memory onboard. However, there is a fly in the ointment, which I hope someone may explain.
    Generally, I'm running a very large orchestral/"filmscore" template. Most of this is being hosted by Kontakt, with a few other bits and pieces thrown in: softsynths, Omnispher, Stylus,etc. But chiefly, it's all orchestral. When currently fully loaded, the Konatakt memory server is showing around 5.5 GB RAM used, which is pretty fantastic considering how much orchestral stuff is loaded up. I'm also working, on average, with around three instances of Altiverb, with groups of Kontakt instruments sent to whatever reverb is appropriate. The output has a simple, single Waves L2 on it. But, and here's the BIG but, despite the fact that I'm well within the RAM limit of my 16 GB. Logic, combined with the OS, is totalling around 13.5 BG of RAM which seems excessive,correct me if I'm incorrect on that. Worse, sometimes Logic starts to behave very oddly, particularly in terms of its GUI. Sometimes, if I choose to load up a couple more instruments, and then begin scrolling around the GUI seems to "collapse" in on itself and tracks start to "merge and dissolve", like the OS is having serious trouble in redrawing the graphics of Logic. Sometimes, also if I launch a Kontakt instance in this condition, the slots appear empty. In fact, I've evn had them actually unload entire 16 slots of instruments from Kontakt, I presume in an effort for Logic or the sytem to conserve RAM, which I find puzzling.
    If left to continue, I usually end up with what I would describe as a damaged song. At that point even clicking on the mouse once send this brilliant white flash all over the screen, each time I click. Eventually, Logic will "collapse" and crash, and I know then that further attempts to relaunch this song will result in the same metling graphics and crashing, ultimately rendering the song unusable. In the past I've resorted to exporting all the data as a MIDI file and had to import to a fresh template, which has proved hit and miss.
    I'm assuming this is a memory related issue, yet I see that even with a fully loaded song such as this, I still have around 3.5 GB RAM spare. More than enough of a cushion to avoid such weird issues as I describe. Or no?!
    Can anyone throw some light on this, please? Is it a RAM/redraw/ graphics issue, due to pushing the memory limits, or something more sinister?
    Thanks.

    OK, I thought you might be interested to read these results. I switched to 64 and rebooted the computer. Now, with the exact same song, the memory used is appromately 9.5 GB, instead of 13.6 GB! an impressive difference.
    I haven't yet used this in anger, so I don't know what will happen regarding third parties. I did note, however, that upon launching Logic for the first time in 64 bit, the AU validation concerned itself with 30 potential problem plugins, as opposed to the full extent of them, which is considerably more. No bad results came back from the scan, although this doesn't mena I'll not experience issues.
    When you said the experience was not great for 32 bit plugins in 64 bit, what exactly did you mean? Crashes? Plugins simply not workng at all?
    Tomorrow I'll get to work like this and see what happens. I have to say I'm encouraged.
    Now if only I could switch to Lion and all my plugins were 64 bit..........

    I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
    By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
    Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

    Hi there
    I’d be happy to help with this messaging error! This will be due to the device storing the number incorrectly. Please do the following to resolve the issue:
    Delete texts from both old number and new
    Delete any call logs including these numbers
    Delete old number from contacts
    Delete new number from contacts
    Restart device
    Send text to the new number directly (do not save as contact)
    Once the text sends successfully, you can then save as a new contact
    I hope this helps!

  • ODSEE to OIM Reconciliation issue - Invalid number of users

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to run an iPlanet User Trusted Recon Task job (Create users in OIM from ODSEE).
    I've added Recon fields for the "Xellerate User" Resource Object in OIM Design Console. I've setup all the reconciliation mappings in the Process Definition - Recon Field Mappings. Added code key/decode for Lookup.iPlanet.Configuration under Lookup Definition and Created Reconciliation Rule.
    When I click the "Create Reconciliation Profile" button under Object Resource -> Object Reconciliation -> Reconciliation fields. I get the following error:

    I get the same error when installing connectors. Installed both the SUN DSE and MS AD Base connector now and see this error several times during installation.
    Installation says is succeeds though.
    Will move on to creating the IT resources now to see if they actually work.

  • How do I get a serial number when I enter the number it says this is an invalid number?????

    How can I get a serial number when I enter the redemption number in caps and lower case letters , I get indication of invalid Number??????

    penteltack,You have purchased Creative Cloud which is active & has no billing issues.
    CC  mostly asks for serial number if:
    1. There is no CC registered to the ID with which you had signed.
    2. There are entries of Adobe in Host files of the computer.
    3. The activation count has increased.

  • My report is generating this error as invalid number

    Hi friends,
    My oracle report is giving me the error as invalid number when am trying to use this code
    select * from table_name where
    to_char(to_date(trunc(:p_date,'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS'))) between start_date and end_date
    my p_date data type is character by the way
    can any one suggest me a solution pls

    To answer this I am going to assume that "start_date" and "end_date" are DATE datatype
    Assuming also the user is actually inputting the entire date format of :p_date as 'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS'
    If that is the case then the following will solve your problem:
    select * from table_name
    where trunc(to_date(:p_date,'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS')) between start_date and end_dateBasically whatever the format the :p_date is coming in as needs to be used in your TO_DATE function.
    If date is '01/31/2011' then format would need to be 'MM/DD/YYYY'
    Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks!
    p.s. Depending on what you doing, you may need to apply
    between TRUNC(start_date) and TRUNC(end_date)

  • Interactive Report and the mysterious invalid number

    Hello,
    I have an application that is ready, or so I thought, to be sent to a client to update an existing application. One page in the application has an interactive report that is based on a table in the parsing schema that is joined to the apex_collections view. The report works without issue in my dev environment as well as in the client's test environment. But when a colleague tested the updated app in a different test environment, the report errors out with an ORA-01722: invalid number error.
    Needless to say I'm now hesitant about the update to production because I can't find the cause of the issue on my colleague's machine and would hate for this to happen in production. In trying to find the issue in on my colleague's machine, I first tried removing all of the columns (save the id) from the report to see if it was being generated there, no change. Then I started removing the joins and when the join to the apex_collections view was removed the error disappeared. The join was written as:
    SELECT *
    FROM table tbl
    JOIN apex_collections col
       ON tbl.id = col.c001
    WHERE col.collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION';I know that the underlying tables for the apex_collections view store columns c001 .. c050 as VARCHAR2(4000) so I was relying on implicit data conversion to apply the join. Perhaps this is where the error is coming from but that would mean that "extra" rows are being returned as all of the c001 values returned in the session (from dev toolbar) are also valid numbers. As I said before, the problem is only occurring in 1 of 3 apex instances so I tested it in a 4th, and again, there was NO problem. I then realized that my query is potentially dangerous if c001 is used to hold something other than a number in the current session, which is NOT the case in any of the instances, but I tried updating the report to the following to see if it would help:
    SELECT *
    FROM table tbl
    JOIN (
       SELECT TO_NUMBER(c001) AS c001
       FROM apex_collections col
       WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
    ) apex_col
       ON apex_col.c001 = tbl.idThat query worked as expected in the dev environment and will be used as the query going forward. However, it failed to fix the problem in the "problem" instance. This seems to be a local issue but I'd like to know for sure. All of the systems are configured as follows:
    1. Dev - Oracle 10g R2 XE - ApEx 3.1.2 - Works
    2. Test1 - Oracle 10g R2 EE - ApEx 3.1.2 - Works
    3. Test2 (colleague) - Oracle 10g R2 XE - ApEx 3.1.2 - Fails
    4. Test3 (my localhost) - Oracle 10g R2 XE - ApEx 3.1.2 - Works

    Dan,
    I'm always suspicious of problems that disappear without knowing why - usually they reappear the very moment that an end-user starts using the app :D
    You didn't show how you are populating the collection in your original posting, so I'm not clear on exactly what the data would show. What I was thinking was, knowing that collections are all varchar2's, that something like TO_CHAR() had been used in the SQL statement that created the collection.
    I don't think that trimming the data would have any effect. If the problem does happen again, I would suggest creating a report based on the collection (basically doing a data dump onto a page) and then see exactly what is in there. If any number contains a comma (or other characters such as currency symbols), then you have to use a number format string to get back to the actual raw number.

  • Error Message - ORA-01722 Invalid Number

    Hello:
    I have the following situation. When I create an organization, a record is inserted into the following table, AGREEMENTS, and populates four fields.
    I have an update form which selects the organization from the AGREEMENTS table so the user can populate the rest of the table. In addition, on this form, there is a drop-down box which allows the user to select the name of a legal document along with the version of the document in which the user needs to select. This select list is created via an LOV joining three tables. The item name for this select list is :P6_DOCUMENT.
    The code for the LOV is:
    SELECT S.DOC_NAME||' - '|| O.VERSION_NO AS DOC, O.ORG_DOC_CURR_KEY
    FROM SUPPORTING_DOCS S,
         ORG_DOC_CURR_VER O,
         AGREEMENTS H
    WHERE
        S.DOC_TYPE = 'HISA'
    AND S.SUPPORTING_DOC_KEY = O.SUPPORTING_DOC_KEY
    AND H.ORG_KEY_LE = O.ORG_KEY
    AND O.ORG_KEY=:P6_ORG_KEY_LEWhen the user completes the form, the SUBMIT process is a PL/SQL block consisting of an UPDATE statement to update the AGREEMENTS table based on the selected organization and an INSERT statement to insert a record into the AGREEMENTS_DOC table to store the value stored in :P7_DOCUMENT.
    Ok, now here is where my problem starts.
    When I first bring up the form and I select the organization I want to update, I click the Search button to find the organization and I receive the following error message: ORA-01722 Invalid Number.
    At this point all I'm doing is a basic search. There is no insert/update or anything going on. I'm not understanding why I would be receiving this error message.
    The search is based on the database column ORG_KEY_LE whose datatype is NUMBER.
    In my application, the item assigned to ORG_KEY_LE is P6_ORG_KEY_LE.
    I have a PL/SQL block process created (On Load-Before Header) in the Page Rendering area of my page definition. The PL/SQL code that is written is:
    BEGIN
    IF :P6_SEARCH_ORG != '0' THEN
    :P6_ORG_KEY_LE := :P6_SEARCH_ORG;
    END IF;
    END;I then have an Item created, :P6_SEARCH_ORG, which is a Select List. In the LOV portion of the page for this item, I have the following:
    select ORG_KEY_LE display_value, ORG_KEY_LE return_value
    from AGREEMENTS
    order by 1The reason for using this table is because this table contains the newly created organization which needs to be updated with the remaining columns of data.
    I then have a Search button in the Button area which has the following settings:
    Button Position: Region Template Position #CHANGE#.
    Condition Type: Value of Item in Express 1 is NULL.
    Expression 1: :P6_ORG_KEY_LE.
    To troubleshoot this problem, I created two pages, one page to do the UPDATE and the second page to do the INSERT.
    The SEARCH functionality in both pages are identical.
    When I run my UPDATE page, which only involves updating the missing fields, the process works. I have my search box, I'm able to search for the organization, make my updates, and I'm good.
    When I run my INSERT page, which involves inserting the record with the assigned document, I receive the error message after I click the SEARCH button. In order to INSERT the record into this table, I first need to SELECT the organization that was UPDATED in the AGREEMENTS table (using the UPDATE page described in above paragraph). When I select the organization, the user can then assign the appropriate legal document to the organization and insert the record into the AGREEMENTS_DOC table.
    Can someone help me with this error message? I'm not sure why I am able to perform my SEARCH on a page with the UPDATE statement, not able to perform the SEARCH on the page with my INSERT statement, and not be able to perform the SEARCH on the page that combines the UPDATE and INSERT statements.
    I did some more troubleshooting and I do believe my SUBMIT process which contains the INSERT statement is the issue. I created a fourth page which doesn't have a SUBMIT process. I brought up the form, searched for my organization and the information for that organization appeared. The problem is definately with my UPDATE/INSERT process.
    The PL/SQL block for the Submit process is the following:
    BEGIN
    update
        MDD.HISA_AGREEMENTS
         set
           LAST_UPDATED_BY=V('APP_USER'),
           APPROVER_SALUTATION=:P6_APPROVER_SALUTATION,
           APPROVER_FIRST_NAME=:P6_APPROVER_FIRST_NAME,
           APPROVER_MIDDLE_INITIAL=:P6_APPROVER_MIDDLE_INITIAL,
           APPROVER_LAST_NAME=:P6_APPROVER_LAST_NAME,
           APPROVER_NAME_SUFFIX=:P6_APPROVER_NAME_SUFFIX,
           APPROVER_EMAIL_ADDR=:P6_APPROVER_EMAIL_ADDR,
           SPONSOR_EMAIL_ADDR=:P6_SPONSOR_EMAIL_ADDR,
           APPROVER_TITLE=:P6_APPROVER_TITLE
    where
          ORG_KEY_LE=:P6_ORG_KEY_LE
    INSERT INTO
        HISA_AGREEMENT_DOCS
          (HISA_AGREEMENT_DOC_KEY,
           ORG_KEY_LE,
           APPLICATION_KEY,
           STATUS,
           STATUS_DATE,
           CREATED_BY,
           ORG_DOC_CURR_KEY)
    VALUES
          (HISA_AGREEMENT_DOC_KEY_SEQ.NEXTVAL,
           :P6_ORG_KEY_LE,
           :P6_APPLICATION_KEY,
           'C',
           SYSDATE,
           V('APP_USER'),
           :P6_DOCUMENT)
    END;There is something wrong with the above statement and I do not understand what it could be. Can someone help?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    I believe you are on to something.
    The select list for item :P6_DOCUMENT appears when I first bring up the form. When I select my organization and receive the error message, I clicked on the Session in the Developer's bar. The value in item/field :P6_DOCUMENT shows %null%.
    This is the path in which my user would like to accomplish her task:
    1. Select an organization
    2. Display the information for that organization from the AGREEMENTS table
    3. Enter the data for the remaining fields in the AGREEMENTS table
    4. Select the document (:P6_DOCUMENT) from the drop-down.
    5. Click Submit
    6. Update the AGREEMENTS table with data entered in #3.
    7. Insert a record into the AGREEMENTS_DOC table with the selection from #4.
    Somehow I need the :P6_DOCUMENT field not to show the %null% during the SEARCH functionality. I think that is causing the problem.
    How do I fix this?

  • Invalid number error for bind dialog

    Oracle SQL Developer version 1.1.2.25 BUILD MAIN-25.79
    Running under WinXP
    Issue description:
    We get an invalid number error when bind variable filled with an enter in the bind dialog

    It is hard to say what is causing your problem without the specifics (ie query and value entered for the bind variable). Try running the same statement with the value of the bind variable in place of the bind variable (ie instead of running "select * from dual where dummy = :var" with a value of 'x' for :var, run "select * from dual where dummy = 'x'"). If you get the same error, then it is not an issue with the use of bind variables.
    Be aware that currently you cannot define the data type of bind variables (unlike TOAD, etc) and they are all treated as character values. I wouldn't have thought that this would cause you problem unless you are using a bind variable to restrict a numeric column to a specific value and you are entering a non-numeric bind (ie "select * from people where person_id = :id" and using 'xyz' as the value for :id).

  • ORA-01722: invalid number - Error during implicit conversion (10g vls 11g)

    I am facing oracle error for few SELECT queries in 11g which were working fine in 10g environment.
    Oracle Version:
    10g - 10.2.0.5.0
    11g - 11.2.0.3.0
    We are storing numeric values under CHAR or VARCHAR2 column in few tables. This is known design issue & it can't be changed for now.
    I know this will work fine until all the data is numeric in those columns for respective table. Because by some reason, if any row got character value for that column then implicit string to number conversion will fail and this error can occur. But I have verified that there is no data issue.
    But I can see difference in the execution plan! But not able to recognize the reason issue.
    Any other pointers on why the queries are failing in 11g would be of great help..
    Example SQL:
    Note that table structure and data is same in both the environments.

    The problem doesn't appear to be related to the Oracle version, at least not directly. If your query plan does the string to number conversion before eliminating the rows that have non-numeric data, you'll get an error. If the query plan eliminates the rows that have non-numeric data before doing the conversion, the query will succeed. It is entirely possible that you'd get the "bad" plan in 10g or the "good" plan in 11g.
    You can capture the query plans from your 10g database and move them over to the 11g database. Oracle has a nice white paper on upgrading from 10g to 11g that walks you through that process.
    Of course, you really don't want to be dependent on the optimizer picking the "right" plan, you really want to fix the underlying data model issue.

  • 'ORA-01722: Invalid number' error message in BeX

    Hi Gurus,
    We have a new report built on top of a DSO. When I run this report, I get the message  'ORA-01722: invalid number'. On furthur testing, I found that when I move two objects 'Date Changed' & 'Time Changed' [both are 'Z' objects we created] from the 'Rows' to 'Free Characteristics', the report runs as expected. So the issue seems that it is with these two objects. One of them is of type 'DATS' & the other of type 'TIMS'. These two are mapped to respective 'Date' & 'Time' fields in SAP R3.
    SID's exists in the Master Data tables for both these objects. The data for both the fields contains the normal 'Date' & 'Time' values.Running the query using RSRT shows the same error message. The RSRV check on this report says that 'Query execution not possible as the variables contain invalid values'.
    I have seen a couple of other posts in SDN with similar issues but none of them have a solution identified so far. Just wanted to check if anyone who has experienced this issue have been successfully able to resolve it?
    Thanks
    Arvind

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, the 'Date' & 'Time' objects have 0DATE & 0TIME as reference objects.
    I couldn't find any invalid vallues for these date and time fields. If invalid values were present, wouldn't the DSO activation have failed?
    Thanks
    Arvind.

  • ORA-01722: invalid number (Error in Application after upgrade to 3.0)

    Dear All,
    After upgrading to 3.0 I am no longer able to login to my application. The error I am seeing is:
    ORA-01722: invalid number
         Error      Could not process show_hide_memory.show_hide_collection_output procedure !
    Please help me pin-point the issue and fixed it.
    This happens in some applications but in others it doesn't...
    Regards,
    Pawel.

    I believe I have found the source of the problem!
    This is coming from the sample application which was used for the show/hide of regions example.
    The code behind the above procedure is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    PACKAGE show_hide_memory AS
    PROCEDURE show_hide_collection;
    PROCEDURE show_hide_collection_output;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY show_hide_memory AS
    PROCEDURE show_hide_collection AS
    l_arr apex_application_global.vc_arr2;
    l_found boolean := FALSE;
    l_collection_name VARCHAR2(255) := 'SHOW_HIDE_COLLECTION';
    BEGIN
    IF(wwv_flow_collection.collection_exists(p_collection_name => l_collection_name) = FALSE) THEN
    htmldb_collection.create_or_truncate_collection(p_collection_name => l_collection_name);
    END IF;
    l_arr := apex_util.string_to_table(p_string => v('TEMPORARY_ITEM'), p_separator => ']');
    -- If the array member count of l_arr < 3, then the following code will raise an exception
    FOR c1 IN
    (SELECT seq_id
    FROM apex_collections
    WHERE collection_name = l_collection_name
    AND c001 = l_arr(1)
    AND c002 = l_arr(2)
    AND c003 = l_arr(3))
    LOOP
    -- It exists, so delete it
    apex_collection.delete_member(p_collection_name => l_collection_name, p_seq => c1.seq_id);
    l_found := TRUE;
    END LOOP;
    IF l_found = FALSE THEN
    apex_collection.add_member(p_collection_name => l_collection_name, p_c001 => l_arr(1), p_c002 => l_arr(2), p_c003 => l_arr(3));
    END IF;
    COMMIT;
    END show_hide_collection;
    PROCEDURE show_hide_collection_output AS
    BEGIN
    htp.prn('<script type="text/javascript">' || CHR(10));
    htp.prn('<!--' || CHR(10));
    htp.prn('window.onload=function(){' || CHR(10));
    FOR c1 IN
    (SELECT c003
    FROM apex_collections
    WHERE collection_name = 'SHOW_HIDE_COLLECTION'
    AND c001 = wwv_flow.g_flow_id
    AND c002 = wwv_flow.g_flow_step_id)
    LOOP
    htp.prn('htmldb_ToggleWithImage(''' || c1.c003 || 'img'',''' || c1.c003 || 'body'');' || CHR(10));
    END LOOP;
    htp.prn('}' || CHR(10));
    htp.prn('//-->' || CHR(10));
    htp.prn('</script>' || CHR(10));
    END show_hide_collection_output;
    END;
    I guess now I have to find the bug in the above code !

  • Classic ASP - "ORA-01722: invalid number" using OraOLEDB.Oracle driver

    I am working on doing some maintenance updates to a Classic ASP website, and I need to be able to run an insert/update statement for putting values into a lookup table. I am currently running into an "ORA-01722: invalid number" error when trying to use ADO and bind variables for my insert statement.
    Below is an example of a table that I am having problems with:
    CREATE TABLE "MATMGR"."TEST_SWING_TABLE"
    (     "TABLE1_ID" NUMBER(4,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "TABLE2_ID" NUMBER(4,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,

    Here is some snippet code of the basic functionality I am trying to get to work:

    What I have been able to find out so far is that there is some type of issue with numeric values getting translated right when sending two and retrieving from Oracle in ASP. So, does anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve this as I would like to use parameterized SQL to improve application performance?
    I am connecting to a developmental server running Oracle 9.2

    Ok, in my slightly larger example I found out that for what ever reason my named parameters are not being enforced, and so I had to make sure that the parameters were in the same order as they appeared in the SQL. To be on the save side, I did this when they were added as well as when I was assigning values to them.
    Can anyone tell me if this is an Oracle issue or a ASP issue?
