  • Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit.

This is the second time this has happen.
My system consists of the following:
    PC running Windows 7 w/64bit
When I try to open a .pdf Iget a pop-up within 10 seconds say Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit.
I paid the $39.00 from tech support to get this fixed in Aug. 2011 and now it's back.
I have gone through all the Adobe hoops and nothing has worked.

    Hi,
Do you have any 3rd party plugin installed for Adobe Reader? If not, close all running instances of Adobe Reader and delete the entire folder at: C:\program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\plug_ins.
Now goto Control Panel > Programs and Features. Locate the entry for Adobe Reader X and chose to repair the installation.
If you do have a 3rd party plugin installed, try uninstalling them and see if the issue is related to the same. If it works, do let me know which plugins were causing the issue so that I can have a look.
    Hopefully, this should fix things.
    Thanks

  • Reader X - RIKLA application approved, after signing plugin, still "Invalid plugin detected..."

    Hi,
My company submitted a RIKLA application and it has been approved.  I've taken the received certificate file and combined with the keypair file I generated, have executed SignPlugin.exe and it successfully signs my plugin.  However, I still get the "Invalid plugin detected." error after about 3 seconds in Adobe Reader X.  I have no other plugins being loaded.
I'ved used the BasicPlugin project file as a basis for my plugin's project file and tweaked it for a Release build.  I've tested the plugin, and all logic is functional. (Though I have to hurry and click my plugin menu items/toolbar buttons as Reader quits within 3 seconds as mentioned above.)
    My AcroDspOptions.rsp file looks like:
    /D ACRO_SDK_LEVEL=0x000A0000
    /D PDMETADATA_HFT=1
    /D PLUGIN=1
    /D READER_PLUGIN
    /I "."
    /I "Headers\API"
    /I "Headers\SDK"
    /D _CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE
    The paths are all correct.
If you need to see what my project file looks like or any further details, let me know.
I'm trying to get this plugin out the door and this is the last thing stopping me.
    Thanks, Isaac

Since this involves the RIKLA, you should address this to your RIKLA
    support contact.

Sounds like something has been added into the Reader folder. I would recommend uninstalling, running http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, removing any left over parts of the Reader folder (this might have been the problem), reboot, and reinstall. Hopefully that solves the problem. For future question about Reader, you should consider asking in the Reader forum, this is not it.

  • Invalid Plugin

For some reason adobe isnt working anymore, system restore isnt changing the problem either. Currently I have adobe reader 8.0 and when I try to use it the pdf comes up for a second and then it tells me "Invalid plugin Adobe will now quit" and right after that it says ("The instruction at "0x2d830cbc" the memory at "0x00000008" the memory could not be read.)
I've tried using the fixes for error 1714 ( that is the error# that pops up sometimes) but I am missing some files that are prhibiting me from re-installing or un- installing or even upgrading to adobe reader 8.1. The following files are either lost or missing; 1) AcrolEHelper.dll 2) AcroRead.msi and access is denied to AcroPDF.dll. My problem is I am somewhat computer illiterate and do not know or am afraid to do technical fixes unless I have detailed instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Unfortunately, everything there, including VDKHome, is standard.
What I would do at this point is something called "divide and
    conquer".
Make a folder on your desktop, and drag HALF of your plug-ins into it.
Start Reader. Did you get an error?
If so, put everything back and try the other half.
If not, put back HALF of those you removed.
Repeat this until you find the culprit.
If this sounds confusing, do something simpler instead. Remove
plug-ins one by one (putting them into a separate folder on your
desktop) until you can start without the error. Then, the LAST thing
you removed was the problem, and you can try putting everything else
back. Please let us know what you find.

  • Invalid plugin detected

I get a message saying invalid plugin detected. Adobe will terminate in a pop up box. under the box I get the first page of the document but can only terminate the program. This is on 8.1 of the Adobe Reader. How can I download a 7.X version or is there someother way to determine which plug is invalid and what I need to do to get around the problem?

  • Invalid plugin on install

I installed firstly acrobat standard 8.3 on my new windows 7 64bit laptop then installed acrobat reader X on it.
The programs run when I open them but after 1 or 2 seconds come up with a dialoque with the measage Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will close.
On my windows 7 32bit both programs work fine together.
I did not add any plugins.
    Any Ideas?

    Found the answer.
Unknowingly had a plugin from Babylon, deleted it and works fine now.
    Path followed was C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\plug_ins
Obviously the path will be a bit different depending on OS etc.

  • The error "invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit"

I have gotten the RIKLA from Adobe. And I use the example code BasicPlugin(you can download it from Adobe wetsite) as my plug_in, then, I made the api file according to the steps in document in the "Creating an Adobe Reader Plug_in" section of the "Developping Plug_ins and Applications". As last,I copy the api file to plug_ins folder, open Adobe Reader 8. I saw under the Tool memu there is a new menu named Acrobat sdk so that I think the api file is loaded successfully by Acrobat reader. But an error appears, it is "invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit". Can someone tell me why?Thank you.

    I followed your instructions
"You can find these in the "plug-ins" folder. [C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins]"
I finally found my culprit, I deleted one file folder at a time, then restored them from my Recycle Bin.
I finally found my culprit, in the folder “Babylon” the file “BabylonRPI" was the main culprit.
I deleted the whole Babylon file folder, and havent had the error "invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit" ever since.
Thank you very much kid, you kept it simple, I am not a Techie either.

  • Adobe Reader Plug-in shows error 'Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit.'

I followed all the steps provided in the development guide. Still it shows this error. Please provide any help!

    No Luck
We received the 'RIKLA-DigCert.rc' file along with 'T&C of Adobe' file. I followed the following steps as provided by Adobe's Developer's guide:
After receiving the digital certificate, enable the plug-in for Adobe Reader, by performing the following tasks:
1.Make a copy of dummy.rc and put it in your project directory.
2.Open your plug-in project in Visual Studio. Make sure you are in Resource View.
Adobe Acrobat SDK Creating an Adobe Reader Plug-In
Developing Plug-ins and Applications Creating resource files on the UNIX platform 248
3.Open dummy.rc from your project directory. Copy the API_ENCRYPTED_DIGEST data segment (a dummy encrypted digest) to the resource portion of your plug-in.
4.Open the digital certificate file returned to you by Adobe. Copy the API_DIGITAL_CERTIFICATE data segment (your digital certificate) to the resource portion of your plug-in.
5.Rebuild your plug-in. The plug-in will be created with the correct API_DIGITAL_CERTIFICATE data segment and a dummy API_ENCRYPTED_DIGEST data segment, which will be replaced with real data in the next steps.
But the problem is, when I open ''RIKLA-DigCert.rc' file, I got only '
API_DIGITAL_CERTIFICATE' inside but no'API_ENCRYPTED_DIGEST' as shown in Step-3. How do I get that? Also, we have already created Acrobat Plugin file which has got our project resource file (.rc). How do I use the same plugin for Adobe Reader as well? Is there any step missing? please provide any help as this is stopping our progress even after getting the License. Thanks in advance!

  • Invalid Plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit.

    Hi,
I have a valid Reader Integration key. The problem is that the above message appears regardless what I am doing.
Can anyone from adobe answers what the message means?
Under the preferences I unchecked "Use only certified plugins".
I have integrated a window in the plugin. While the messagebox is displayed, I can send a message to my window and therefore I see that the plugIn is loaded.
    I hope someone can help.
    Regards
    Manfred

Certified plugins are NOT the same as reader plugins.   Certified plugins only come from Adobe and exist for both Reader and Acrobat.  Reader plugins work in Reader, while standard plugins do not.
I would check that you are properly adding the key to the plugin - that's usally what the message means.

  • CRM 2011: Updating the reocrd in plugin after invalid plugin execution exception

    HI All,
I am updating the record which triggering a plugin. on a webexception I am trying to update the same record in catch block, but not successful. If I use ExecuteMultipleRequest with continueonError = true, then program stucks and crash with timeout exception.

  • Adobe Reader plugins development

shoIs it possible to develop and use plugin for Adobe Reader XI without any registration (RIKLA)?
I have tried to build and test BasicPlugin from SDK samples. It works but shows  message "invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit" after 3-4 second.
    From documentation:
There are three types of plug-ins:
1.Regular plug-ins. The samples in the SDK are of this type.
2.Reader-enabled plug-ins. These are plug-ins that are developed with permission from Adobe and that require special processing to load under Adobe Reader.
    3.Certified plug-ins. See “Certified Plug-ins”
So I thought that I can create and use Regular plug-ins for Adobe Reader.
Also option "Use only certified plug-ins" is not set.

"Regular" means for Acrobat. You have to get a special license (or permission) from Adobe to develop Reader plugins.

  • Adobe Reader 8.1 plugin error

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader 8.1 and have even run the patch for 8.1.2 and yet ever time I try to either open Adobe reader or a pdf file, I get an error message saying "Invalid plugin detected, Adobe reader needs to close" and I am unable to read any files at all.
I have Windows Vista and have recently installed Vista Service Pack 1, but the problem occurred both before and after Vista Service Pack 1 was installed. I've searched the forums and knowledgebase and have tried all the possible solutions that have been offered, but so-far nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do in order to resolve the problem? At this point Adobe Reader is completely unusable.
Thank you in advance for your help.
