Invalid sim  after updated to 5.1.1

I have updated iphone from ios 4.3 to 5.0.1. After updating ios, the phone doesn't recognize sim and keep saying sim invalid. However there is no problem with sim and phone never been hacked (jailbroken).

I had this problem earlier tonight. I simply took out and put back in my sim card and so far, my phone seems to have gone back to normal.. I just hope it stays this way. If all the solutions you attempt don't fix your phone, try taking it back to the carrier store you purchased it from and see if they can swap it for a brand new one. I read on another thread quite similar to this that that's how someone with the same problem got her issue solved. There's also the option of bringing it to a genius bar in any apple store. Good luck with it. I know it's frustrating.

  • IPhone 5- invalid Sim after 8.1.1 update

Here is my issue... after taking the iOS 8.1.1 update to my iPhone5 periodically displays an "invalid SIM" warning. Not very often, but enough that it is annoying. If I turn my phone off, then back on, my SIM card is good and the phone works fine.
My question to everyone is... Is anyone else having this problem? If so, does anyone know what the fix is?
After waiting on hold for 45 minutes the apple care representative gave me this list of things to try...
If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone
Learn what to do if you see an "Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed" alert on your iPhone.
In some situations, the status bar on your iPhone might display No SIM, even though your iPhone has a SIM card. You might see an alert saying "Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed."
If you see any of the above symptoms on your iPhone, follow these steps:
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Turn airplane mode on and then off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Check for a carrier settings update. Go to Settings > General > About. Install any available update.
Remove the SIM card and make sure that it's a valid SIM that your carrier provided. Also make sure that it's not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
A SIM tray that comes with one iPhone model won't necessarily work with a different iPhone model. When you insert the correct SIM tray, the SIM tray should be flush with the device.
If you have another SIM card, insert it. You can use a SIM card from any phone with the same format as your iPhone SIM card. If your iPhone works with that SIM card, contact the carrier that issued your original SIM card.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you still see the issue, contact Apple support.
I have just gone threw the "Restore the iPhone" step. We shall see if it happens again... Stay tuned!

Also, I forgot to mention. My battery usage seems to have increased since the update.

  • Invalid sim after installing 6.1.4

I Phone 5.. Installed 6.1.4 and now phone says invalid sim. Phone worked fine before installing this update?

The same has happened to me after i updated, also it takes about 10 minutes of jigging around the charger before it starts charging. I'm taking it in to apple this week.

  • "Invalid SIM" since updating to 5.11. Completely legitimate.

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4 purchased through Vodacom in South Africa, there's no carrier locking associated with it. It's not purchased at a corner shop with a hacked unlock or jailbreak, or anything like that. This is a completely legitimately purchased iPhone bought directly through one of the country's largest cellular providers. I moved to the USA early last year, and bought a Simple Mobile SIM card, which I've been using since that time without any issue.
However, after updating to 5.1.1 this morning, the phone gives a "SIM Failure" message, and reads "Invalid SIM" in the top left. I've tried restarting the phone several times, even removing and replacing the SIM card.
Any ideas why this would be happening? Do I need to get a new SIM card through Simple Mobile?
    Any help appreciated.

I have the same problem on my iPad 2.  Really frustrating, at the moment I'm having to hard reset three or four times a day to get my 3G connection back.  I too never had these issues before the software update.  I love Apple but really getting tired of buggy software (OSX Lion seems buggy too).  Is there any word of a software update to address the issue?  Feels like I'm wasting my cellular data contract as I simply can't use mobile data as and when I please (usually a 5 min process of continuous hard resetting to get it working, the first reset does not always work).

  • Wont read sim after update

iphone 4 wont read a sim card after updateing to ios 6 plus

Okay - if the phone was an AT&T one & has an AT&T SIM in it, try reseating the SIM as outlined here.
What message do you see on the iPhone's screen?
You may want to take it to an AT&T store and get the SIM replaced, just in case your current one has issues.

  • Need Urgent Help! iPhone 3Gs won't detect SIM after update to ios 6.1.3

So yesterday me and my sister's phone was working fine. I decided to update both of them, and when I updated, everything was reset to factory settings. Everything is running smoothly, but our phones won't detect the SIM. Either it says "No Service" or "Invalid SIM" when I turn on Airplane Mode. Urgent, please help!

I performed a backup / full reset / erase all / restore. When the phone rebooted, it appeared to be a clean, new iPhone (unnamed, no apps, no wallpaper, etc). I restored my backup and the notification is still there. I tried doing a hard reboot (home+off buttons), still there.  I will attempt one more reset / erase / restore.

  • HT1766 my 3g cannot find my SIM after updating

After updating my iphone 3G to iOS 5, it cannot says there is no SIM casrd installed on the phone.
    What should I do?

I have the same issue on all of my iOS devices since updating to iOS 8 and the latest Airport Utility. My Mac can still see all of the devices on my network and my iOS devices will connect to and use my WiFi network, but the Airport Utility cannot find any of the devices to manage them.  I see this as a common message on the iTunes reviews for the app, so it is not an isolated issue.

  • Invalid Format after updating iOS

I just updated my ATV 2 to the latest version of iOS an now my Plasma says "invalid format" whenever i start the ATV 2. No video, no audio.
Unplugging didn't work exactly. I can see the apple symbol at start-up but then the "invalid format" sign from the TV shows again.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers!

So you disconnected everything and resotred through iTunes? Hmm, I updated mine and it's working fine. Maybe it is the TV? Maybe try calling support or taking it in and have them check.

I upgraded to the latst ISO. everythign seemed fine up until the I pad booted up. It now says no sim installed and everythign I do doesnt work. Took it back to Orange and they tried another sim in it no joy. Tried that sim in a phone it worked, so its the I Pad.
Orange are being very difficult saying its Apples problem as the I pad is now a coupel of days outside its year warrenty.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

You mean your iTunes password does not match what iTunes has on file to what you have on the iPad?
Did you forget the password, or did it randomly stop working for purchasing or updates?
Can you log in to iTunes on the computer?
Changing the password in iTunes doesn't effect what is physically stored in iPad settings.

  • Can not find sim after updating to ios5.1

I just updated my iphone4s to 5.1 using itunes but now iphone says can not find sim card. What the problem?
By the way, my phone is from ATT.

Did you choode to delete them or save them when updating? In the finder go to your Movies folder (or the root of an external drive with projects/events) rt. click on the library icon, show package contents...   do you see your events/projects in there? See this link:

It doesn't ask for a PIN-code and it just says Seeking.... and nothing happens. Has anybody got a fix for this?

    Hi Leon,
Immediately after I completed the restore on my phone, my 3g was still not working. However, the next day I was showing a friend and showed what was happening. To my amazement, the 3g was working again!
If you haven't already, try restoring your phone and see if it works. Good luck,

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU HAVE ISSUE WITH YOUR PHONE 5  SHOWING INVALID SIM ERROR
I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW AND APPARENTLY REBOOT WILL FIX IT TEMPORARILY BUT IT WILL GO BACK TO INVALID SIM AFTER HOURS OR DAY..AFTER TALKING TO APPLE SUPPORT HE WAS VERY CONCERN ABOUT THE ISSUE SO I OPENED A CASE WITH APPLE AND THE REP GAVE ME HIS DIRECT NUMBER..ITS BEEN 2 DAYS SINCE I'VE TALKED TO APPLE AND THE SAME DAY I WENT TO ATT CORPORATE STORE AND THEY REPLACE MY SIM CARD WITH A NEW ONE AND SINCE THEN I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES SO FAR.
HERE IS WHAT I AM THINKING :THE ISSUE MOST LIKELY IS THE SIM CARDS ,THESE SIM CARDS ARE CALLED NANO SIM CARD AND THEY ARE SUPER SMALL AND SOMETIMES THE PHONE CANNOT READ THE THE SIM CARD RIGHT AND THE MESSAGE APPEARS..
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYBODY KNOWS MORE ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
REMEMBER FOR REPLACING YOUR SIM CARD DO NOT GO TO AUTHORIZED RETAILERS UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $25 DOLLARS FOR GETTING A NEW SIM CARD, THE WIRELESS COMPANY'S CORPORATE STORES WILL REPLACE YOUR SIM CARDS AT NO CHARGE..

    Replace the SIM.

  • After update my iphone using itunes it requesting to put  invalid sim

after update my iphone using itunes it requesting to put invali sim

Sounds like your phone was unlocked in an unapproved manor. Updating it locked the phone so now your sim is invalid. You need to figure out what carrier your phone is locked to and se if you can open an account trhough them or see if they can unlock it.
