INVALID SOURCE MODULE

I have worked with OWB for a while, but this is my first exposure to owb 10g, and the 10g database which in the case serves as my source database. I was able to create a target module, and import from my 10g database my target tables. However when I attempted to create my dblink for the source module I receive the following error API4006 (the database link contains invalid info) API2414 (Cannot determine version info for the specified dblink). Please HELP.

Yes my source schema has connect priviledges, actually it has dba priviledges. I also seeded my repository 10g as well. I tried to use the same dblink I setup for my target module and I still receive the error message. I tried deleting the source module and recreating it and got the same result again. I can not understand this error, if I got it for both target and source I would then look to the database install, but I only get this for the source module. I have also tried to create another project and I still get the same error.

    Hi,
If the username is atually on the rows you want to limit (rather than the more usual way where it would be a foreign key to another table holding the employee info) then you can just set up a filter on the table.
There is a system session variable called USER which holds the username of the currently logged in user, so you could set up a filter something like this:
    <business model name>.<logical table name>.<logical column name> = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."USER")
If you actually have the situation where it is the ID of the owner stored on the table rather than the actual user name (seems more likely to me), then you will need to create a new session variable and intialisation block to do the lookup and get the Id for the currently logged in user, then just substitute that variable name in above.
There's a short article that might help on my blog:

  • Problem with Creation of Source module for MS Access

I am having a problem in creating a source module connected with an "MS Access" file in OWB 9i using the heterogeneous services. I have created a DSN to an access file (.mdb) and created the HS in Oracle (modified the tsnames.ora and listener.ora files with required details). Created a Database link using this service and it's working fine in SQL PLUS, but I am unable to create a Source module in OWB 9i using this db link, since OWB 9i need a schema name for db link. In MS access it's not possible to have a schema.
Please help me in solving the above issue.
    Thanks in advance
    Jagan

What version of OWB and Oracle database are you using? If it is an OWB version 9.0.4 or higher, I presume you are trying to create a non Oracle source module under the Oracle Database node - is this the case? If yes, you should not do that, but create your MS Access module under Databases->Other->Other node (as I understand you are not using ODBC). Let me know if my assumptions are correct.

  • Changing a source module to a new database?

Hi there, looking for help from the users here! I'm on OWB 10.2 This should be a simple one, but I'm having a hard time!
The short summary of my question, is how do I change my mappings in my target db to pull from a new source module / database?
    Here's the longer description:
In design center I have 2 different locations ("loc x prod_old" and "loc y prod_new"). I currently have a source module callled "m_src" that currently uses "loc x prod_old". So all views, etc, in "m_src" are currently being pulled from "loc x prod_old".
Now I want to change the "m_src" modeule from "loc x prod_old" to "loc x prod_new", and then I want to make sure all of my mappings in my "m_tgt" module which have objects in "m_src" get pulled from the "loc x prod_new".
On "m_src" module I change data location to "loc x prod_new" and also change metadata location to "loc x prod_new". Then I configure "m_src" and make sure the dropdowns point to "loc x prod_new" as well. Save. So far so good. In "m_src" I can now verify by selecting a view and looking at the "data" for the view.
I can also now select a mapping in my "m_tgt" module and when I generate the code I can see that it will use "loc y prod_new" instead of "loc x prod_old", which is correct.
When I go to control center, and run the mapping, the mapping is still using the "loc x prod_old", which is not what I want. It seems that I have to re-deploy each mapping. When I go to the db and look at the mapping using toad I can see the mapping still points to the "loc x prod_old". Only when I re-deploy the mapping does it use "loc x prod_new."
Surely there must be a way that I can change my location or my source module and get my mappings to use the new location, without having to re-deploy each and every mapping. How can I best do this?
    Thanks!

I guess I should have waited another day before posting (unfortunately time is critical now). I figured this out and am closing the thread.
design center > location > edit it, pointing to new db
design center > go verify the data on a view
control center > target module > connector > drop / replace
in a sql tool you can now verify your dblink points to the new db

  • How to change the source module version

    Hi All,
In the OWB i created a source module and during those steps i clicked on version 10.1, but during deployment in the deployment managaer when i tried to register the location, its giving me an error as "Source verison 10.1 is not matching with the target version 10.2", can any one please help me or Advice me as to how to change the "source module version"?
    Thanks

    Hi
what i understood is that the source module is associate with the location and you have provided the 10.1 which you need to change.
so you can change that under location.

  • Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running

    Hello All,
After I configured subscriptions with many monitors, error alerts appear at SCOM(scom 2012 r2) console in active alert page.
I googled it and found some topics at TechNet but I could not figure it out. Alert description is shown below
Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running: Alert subscription data source module was unable to find alerts that match the subscription because of database errors.
    The following error(s) were encountered:
Exception Message: The incoming request has too many parameters. The server supports a maximum of 2100 parameters. Reduce the number of parameters and resend the request.

    Thanks

As I understand, this issue occurs and remains after I configure a subscription with too many rules and/or monitors( i.e al available rule and/or monitor of a management pack).
After I had deleted those subscription with many rule/monitor, this issue was resolved.
    Any idea?

Hi,    We recently started getting these errors a couple times a day.   There are 12 of them in total.     We also have exactly 12 subscriptions.   Does this indicate some db issue causing all of these
    to fail?

  • Received response from host (router IP address) with invalid source port 32784

I replaced my old wireless router with a Cisco Linksys E4200, running firmware version 1.0.02 build 13  May 24, 2011.  About once a minute the router sends an unsolicited DNS message to the IPV4 multicast address 01:00:5e:00:00:fb with a destination IP address of 224.0.0.251.  The unsolicited message is a DNS response with source port 32784, transaction ID 0, flags 0x8400 (standard query response, no error), questions 0, answer RRs 2, authority RRs 0 and additional RRs 1.  The two answers both relate to the router itself: one has Name Cisco18738.local, type A (host address), class 1 (IN), cache flush true, time to live 1 minute, data length 4, and the address of the router.  The other is the reverse of the same address.  The additional record is for Cisco18738.local, type NSEC, class IN, cache flush true, time to live 1 minute, data length 5, next domain name Cisco18738.local, RR type A (host address).
When my desktop computer receives these messages it logs an error, for example: "Jun 23 07:39:22 sauterws02 avahi-daemon[1067]: Received response from host 10.146.9.1 with invalid source port 32784 on interface 'eth0.0'"  The 10.146.9.1 is the router's IP address.  I also see these messages on the wireless link from my laptop.
I suppose the E4200 is generating these DNS messages in a misguided attempt to make sure there is no old information about its name.  Is there a way to turn them off?  If not, is there a way to report this to Cisco as a bug?

    2. From the internet draft: "Multicast DNS implementations MUST
silently ignore any Multicast DNS Responses they receive where the
source UDP port is not 5353." Your avahi-daemon does not comply with this draft.
Thank you for the reference.  For the sake of others who may read this thread, the current draft of multicast DNS is at http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-cheshire-dnsext-multicastdns-14.txt.
Here is the whole paragraph from which you quoted, from section 6 (Responding): "The source UDP port in all Multicast DNS Responses MUST be 5353 (the well-known port assigned to mDNS). Multicast DNS implementations MUST silently ignore any Multicast DNS Responses they receive where the source UDP port is not 5353."
Thus, it appears that there are two errors here: the Cisco E4200 is not using 5353 as the source port, and the logger is not silently ignoring it.
The message appears to be an announcement rather than an actual response to a query.  In section 8.3 (Announcing) I found this paragraph: "A Multicast DNS Responder MUST NOT send announcements in the absence of information that its network connectivity may have changed in some relevant way. In particular, a Multicast DNS Responder MUST NOT send regular periodic announcements as a matter of course."  Thus, it appears that there are three errors here.

  • Can I map the cvs files in a source module tables?

I want to populate the tables of a source module, so can I make mappings between external table of the target module and a table of a source module?

Sounds like you can - why don't you just try?!
I envision two different mappings, one that produces the CSV and on that reads it, so I see no problem in building this. Put them after eachother in a process flow.

  • Create Data Source Module using OMB

I am not seeing how to create Data Source modules using OMB. I am assuming there is a property of OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE that I am overlooking. If anyone can provide assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    craig

    Hi,
Yes, there is a OMBCREATE command for creating Oracle Modules. And as per the Scripting ref Guide ( Page 4-157 owb 9i scripting guide) -
OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE 'src_module' SET PROPERTIES (DESCRIPTION, BUSINESS_NAME) VALUES ('this is an Oracle module', 'source module') This will create an Oracle module named "src_module", its description is "this is an Oracle module", and business name is "source module".

  • How to OMBEXPORT source modules ?

How can I OMBEXPORT source modules ? I cannot find a corresponding objectTypeValue in the scripting reference document.
    Emiel Odijk

    Emiel,
The (known) issue is that we do not support Oracle source modules in this release. You would have to export the entire project, which includes the source modules. If your database source is not lower than Oracle 8.1.7, then I would recommend you capture your source into a target module. Going forward, the distinction is going to disappear anyway.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Source Module issue

    Greetings,
I am in the process of migrating from Forms6i client/server to Forms10g. I am now at the stage where I am compiling the forms on the OAS server. There is a form called default.fmb which is the source for all the forms that need to be compiled. Some of the forms compile correctly whereas some do not. I have determined that the source module for some of the forms is DEFAULT while others are default. The file on the OAS is default.fmb which means the forms that have a source module of DEFAULT will not compile.
How do I change the source module from DEFAULT to default?
    Regards,
    Bill Chadbourne

    Not really.
the jDAPI is a Java-API which can be used to modify any source-setting you can also set via the Forms-Builder. When you install the devloper-suite, the JDAPI is also installed. As fas as i remember there is also a little sample java-program shipped. If not, search the forum, there are some examples.
