  • Short of dismantling and recreating a page how do i find out whats causing [Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]

    Hi,
i received an indesign file to include in a folio that had links to the creators desktop where they had the assets for the web content overlay. When i try to update the folio i get the error message:
    "Content generation error.
[Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]"
    Which is fair enough.
The problem is, i have gone through and changed all URLs that I can see, but there is one somewhere, that I just can't find.
Is there a way to get a list of all web content overlays in a particular file? otherwise i will need to recreate the whole page again, and it has some pretty complex interactions which i rather wouldn't do.
I also cannot ask the original doc creator to just change the links as i'm sure he'll have the same issues as me, at not being able to track down the erroneous link.
The problem I have with DPS is that its not very transparent. you'll have to click on everything, and into every group to see what actions are on it, which can be extremely time consuming and frustrating when complex interactions are included.
thanks in advance for any assistance

I’ve found watching the process helpful to narrow down the page.
Working off a duplicate of the file, delete one layer at a time until you figure out what layer the problem is on.
From there it’s a bit easier to narrow down.

  • Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay. Help?

I am doing a french tranlation to an existing folio app that someone else created.
There is one page in my folio that is comprised of garbage and a trash can. You touch the garbage and drag it into the trash, and things change, etc.
I have an index.html file and a bunch of other images.
I can't even successfully add the article to my folio, I get this warning: Content Generator Error. Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay.
Can you walk me through how to get this to work?
Attached is a screen shot of my file structure...

When you specify the .html file, all the content in that folder is uploaded automatically. Here's an article about Web Content overlays:

  • Dynamic URL for HTTP receiver adapter

    Hi all,
when the XI send the http request to the target system, the format maybe like this:
header + body the body is including: Prolog, payload and Epilog
here is about the target system have a 'input' parameter(maybe string type)
is it possible to pass the 'head + body' these value(or maybe the whole http request message) into input
i mean is it possible to set the dynamic URL for http receiver adapter like this:
    http://host:port/path?input=<the header and body>
i have searched the blog Dynamic Configuration of Some Communication Channel Parameters using Message Mapping
    Link:[/people/william.li/blog/2006/04/18/dynamic-configuration-of-some-communication-channel-parameters-using-message-mapping]
and the similar threads in the forum
    please give me some advice
    thanks in advance

When a HTTP server requests the whole message as URL parameters, then I assume that the server also requests an HTTP GET, which is not supported by XI.
    Could you check this?

  • Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay, ERROR!!!!!!

    Hello All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this error, I was working on my indesign file and was testing it out locally, then I went on to upload my file and I got prompt to install a new version of the Folio panel which I did, now every time I try to upload my file I get this "ERROR: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay", I've searched around and have not come up with an answer. Not sure if its a bug on the new update or what. I tried some troubleshooting which this is what i did. I copied my first page of my document onto a different file and tried to upload one page and then i got the error but then I deleted the images and just left one text box and it uploaded my file without any issues, strange huh. Any ideas????

I was having the same problem with both hyperlinks and buttons in one particular file -- "Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay." It seems to only be a problem in files where I had a link or button previously, and then deleted the object. When I create a new object and create a link or button, it's as though the old link is still lingering somewhere in the file! However, none of the old links is listed in the hyperlinks panel before I create a new one.
This occurred while I was teaching a DPS class, using the Adobe courseware (sight unseen by any proofreader, I believe). In one of the exercise files, the steps for the student to create hyperlinks and buttons had already been done, so I deleted the hyperlinks. (I think I deleted the text frames that contained them, but I'm not sure.) I never had a problem with it UNTIL I downloaded the Overlay Creator/Folio Builder dated June 19 (v21, I think).
In the same file, I also had problems with a NAVTO link, . I don't think there were any NAVTO links in any earlier version of the file, at least none that I ever created or deleted.
I've coded HTML since the days when the only available tool was Notepad, so I'm sure that I used correct URLs (and none redirected). Even the URLs in the deleted objects were correct; I only deleted them so the exercise could be done again.

  • Why am I getting the flag Invalid URL for web content overlay when making scrolling panel in Indesig

Why am I getting the flag 'Invalid URL for web content overlay" when making scrolling panel in Indesign? Iam making additions to existing articles but the problem is new. The articles were originally made using CS and now I am on CC, which I have just uninstalled and re installed, no difference, can anyone help please? Steve

Hi Bob, thankyou very much for coming back on this. The flag is coming up towards the end of the preview process on desk top. I have made dozens if not hundreds on my two published apps on the app store, but have not done an update for nearly a year, in which time I have needed a refresher, and as usual went to Lynda. In this case I have followed to the letter your DPS course, which is great, and I found the process of making the scrolling panels somewhat easier than when I started 2-3years ago. Initially I was mystified that the flag talked about url and web content, but just put it down to something I had missed in recent improvements in CC.
I tried over and over, but always got the same result. I thought at one point it might be because the content of my slide was copy and photo, so for a test I deleted the photo. Same result, and many of my existing slides are copy and picture.
I also uninstalled Indesign CC and reinstalled in case of corrupted content, I also copied to IDML and relaunch, same problem. I am sure I have made the scrolling content as instructed, The one thing I havn't done is trash my preferences, if you think that would be a good Idea could you please direct me to some content at Lynda on how to do it in CC. Many thanks, Steve

  • MP4 Video throwing error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay

Converted a 15 second flv video to the following using Handbrake:
    mp4
    H.264 codec
"Placed" mp4 file into my article
Set Autoplay= On and 0.125s delay
Try to preview via InDesign a get the error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay
Try to update my article via Folio Builder and I get the same error.

It seems that you "placed" your video into the frame selected as Web Content in Folio Overlays Panel.
    Delete that frame.
Place (in the normal InDesign way, not"place") your mp4 file onto the page.
Adjust the size of the frame to your video measurements.
Look at the Folio Overlays Panel. Your placed file should appear ther as Video Overlay.
Set your options and you are done.

  • Invalid URL for file reference

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with a webdynpro application running from Portal 6 SP14. The application contains a link to a file sitting on a client machine. Whenever this file does not actually reside on the server machine, it generates this error:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Invalid URL=S:\SCA_IT\SCM Data\Projects SCM\Plant Maint\Portals Request- Sweden.doc
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.serverimpl.core.url.AbstractURLGenerator.checkURL(AbstractURLGenerator.java:566)
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.url.core.URLGeneratorInternal.checkURL(URLGeneratorInternal.java:303)
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.uielib.standard.impl.LinkToURL.getReference(LinkToURL.java:206)
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientimpl.html.uielib.standard.uradapter.LinkToURLAdapter.getReference(LinkToURLAdapter.java:235)
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientimpl.html.renderer.uielements.ie6.LinkRenderer.render(LinkRenderer.java:45)
This file actually exists on my client machine, but it generates the error anyway. It does not happen with applications running on Portal 6 SP9. The new one seems to validate if the file exists on the server or not, and if not generates this error. Is there any way for me to validate this URL, or to allow the URL to point to the client machine instead of the server machine? Any help would be appreciated.
    Joanna

Some additional data I forgot to add:
I have tried to catch an invalid url in the code, but because there isn't an actual syntax error in the URL, it allows it through, and it seems to pass on the validation to the portal and that's where the error is generated.
    try
                   File doc = new File(docPath);
                   URL docURL = doc.toURL();
                   wdContext.currentContextElement().setValidURL(docURL.toString());
              catch(Exception e)
                   wdContext.currentContextElement().setValidURL("");
I have also tried setting the URL with the original docpath, but with the same result.

  • Invalid URL for Facebook only

    Hi there,
Since last night, every time i try to connect to www.facebook.com on my macbook the message "invalid URL" comes up and i can't reach my profile.
I thought it may have something to do with my internet provider but it works fine on my ipad...
I have tried with firefox, chrome and safari and all 3 come up with the same invalid message except that the reference starting with #9.54e0fc ends differently...
Any ideas on how i can fix that?
    Thanks in advance !

my friend has recommend me to flush dns following this
How to Flush DNS in Mac OS X
If you are an Internet or web developer or do a fair amount of administrator tasks on your Mac, then the requirement to flush DNS cache will arise. Depending on what version of the OS is installed on your computer (Leopard vs Tiger), there will be a slightly different command to flush DNS.
Step 1 – If Mozilla Firefox is installed on your computer, exit the application if it is open.
Step 2 – Open the terminal on your computer.
Step 3 – On a computer running Lion (Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, or 10.7) enter the following command followed by pressing the “return” key:
    dscacheutil –flushcache
Step 4 – In Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, enter the following command followed by pressing the “return” key:
    lookupd –flushcache
But everythime i reach step 4, it asks me for my password and my keyboard freezes so i cant type anything...lemme know if it works !

  • Dynamic URL for SOAP receiver adapter

    Hey!
I've been looking all over the forum for this issue. What I have seen is many good suggestions, but no one seems to have made this work.
I have tried with message mapping and TServerLocation, but when the scenario is executed, Target URL in the communication channel always overrides the suggested URL from the mapping.
Is is possible to do this dynamic configuration? Do I have to use HTTP adapter and create envelope with mapping instead? Anyone in here actually got this dynamic URL working?
    Thanks a bunch!
    regards Ole

    Hello Cengiz Aytemir,
I am stuck with a similar issue that you faced earlier. I've configured the scenario as you have suggested (Both the UDF and the CC settings). I've hard coded the Target URL as http://
I can see the dynamic URL set correctly in the MONI but the request that I am sending is not reaching the web service.

  • Lync converts URL's containing & with %26 creating an invalid URL for use in Chrome.

I have a web app that uses the "&" character in the URL. If this URL is copy/pasted from a browser to Lync during an IM, Lync converts the URL to use %26 instead of & which does not work in Chrome. The link opens an empty page since the
app does not understand what to do with %26. Is there any way to stop Lync from converting the & characters to %26 in the URL?

    Hi Lisa
I don't agree with your answer. The & character is part of the ASCII set and it is not an unsafe character. Actually, it is one of the reserved characters in URIs (see section 2.2 in RFC 3986). Here's the relevant quote from this RFC:
Percent-encoding a reserved character, or decoding a percent-encoded octet that corresponds to a reserved character, will change how the URI is interpreted by most applications.   Thus, characters in the reserved set are protected from normalization
and are therefore safe to be used by scheme-specific and producer-specific algorithms for delimiting data subcomponents within a URI.
The & character is very often used in URLs, as it separates the GET parameters. E.g. if you search "GET parameter" in bing, the URL of the result page looks like this: http://www.bing.com/search?q=GET+parameter&go=Senden
Therefore it is very annoying that Lync does convert all &s to %26, which makes many URLs worthless.
Please check whether this bug is fixed in newer versions of Lync. I would also appreciate if this could be fixed in a bugfix release of Lync 2010, but I don't know whether you still do bugfixes for this version.
    Best regards
    Adrian

  • Invalid Url for Web Content Overlay

I am constantly getting this error when I try to upload a page with a web content overlay -- i even get thi smessage if i try to upload http://google.com.
    sg

This link is likely being redirected, and redirects aren't allowed in Web Content overlays. For example, http://www.google.com will work, but http://google.com won't. Check the URL on a mobile device. A lot of sites get redirected to the mobile version:  http://twitter.com becomes http://mobile.twitter.com.

  • WSDL url for sender and receiver SOAP adapter

    Dear Experts,
I am working on SOAP --> SAP PI --> SAP ECC synchronous scenario. That means I have to create 2 Cc for SOAP i.e. Sender as well as Receiver adapter. I am responsible for creating the Request as well as Response structure in SAP PI. The sender application team is dependent on me to get the WSDL file.
Please provide the suggestions on the below.
    Sender SOAP adapter.
    1. I will create the WSDL from Sender Aggreement. How to get the url and what is the navigation step? Should I provide the    same url to sender application team to call the service.
    Receiver SOAP adapter:
    2. In the receiver SOAP adapter , Should I have to get the web service parameter of the sender application. As mentioned , I am creating the response structure as well. That means I can not import the WSDL from the sender application. How to get target url in the receiver SOAP Cc.
I refered to the forum SOAP SENDER - test in soapui but its not clear.

    Dear Bhaskar,
    For synchronous scenario
                                                                Request
    MS Application (SOAP)<--> SAP-PI <--
    > SAP ECC.
                                                                                    Response
I am creating the Request as well as Response structure in SAP-PI and its agrreement for both
    the ways.
So for the MS appl team, I will give the WSDL url from the sender agreement to make the request to SAP-ECC.
Now for receiving the response from SAP ECC, from where I should find the value to enter in the target url of SOAP
    receiver channel.
1.Should I take the target url value from the MS Application team?
2.How to know whether  the MS Application or SAP ECC is hosting the web service?
    Regards
    Alice
