Invalid URL's are being resolved

I am running a 10.3.4 Weblogic Server. Currently invalid URL's are being resolved by the generic call to the Service.
For instance: If I wanted to call our logging service I would use the following URL:
http://<hostname>:port/LoggingService
If I entered a bad URL like
http://<hostname>:port/BLAH
I would expect to get a HTTP 404 error or some equivalent. Instead the Logging Service is resolving the invalid URL and returning the default page for the Logging Service.
The same problem happens at another level:
http://<hostname>:port/ReportService/ReportService (is proper)
http://<hostname>:port/ReportService/BLAH (should be BAD but is returning the default ReportService.
Any ideas what is causing this?

I am just using the browser to access it. I don't believe there is caching or the URL being changed.
So, when you access just the Web Service it brings up a page with information. I'm not quite sure what to call it but this is what it looks like:

I had to use the code element ot get it to display correctly.
Another somewhat related issue is that we have some EJB's that are referenced like
http://xdabi004:10013/DataService/DataService
and others like
http://xdabi004:10013/RequestService
This is related to the original problem since most of the Services are 2 levels deep (DataService/DataService). Since the LoggingService is only one level deep, URL's like http:/xdabi004:10013/BLAH are getting resolved.

We are having a problem with a 10gAS installation. In general most everything is working, but it looks like in some cases, when we connect to it using a URL that ends without an ending slash ("/"), OAS is redirecting the browser to a different URL with an ending slash. The problem is that the redirect URL is missing the port.
For example, if I point my browser to http://<host>:7777/oiddas (URL with no ending slash), OAS is sending a 301/redirect to http://<host>/oiddas/ (URL with ending slash, but with port missing). From what we can tell, it looks like OAS is trying to redirect the browser to port 80.
The "oiddas" is where we mainly encountered the problem, but there may be others.
I've been researching this problem, but haven't had any success. The only thing that I've found that's close is is to set the "ServerName" in the Apache httpd.conf to the fully-qualifed domain name (apparently, Apache uses this to build the URL for redirect). However, I checked, and "ServerName" is set to the FQDN in our httpd.conf, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
Has anyone else run across this problem before? If so, any suggestions as to how to fix the problem?

Which 10g version? And platform?I'll check tomorrow re. version. This is actually an Ebusiness 11i installation, with the infrastructure running under 10gAS (per Metalink article). Platform is Solaris 9 SPARC.
The problem is that the redirect URL is missing the port.
How did you find that out?When we use IE, if we go to http://<host>:7777/oiddas, we get a "no server or DNS" error, and the address bar shows http://<host>/oiddas.
Similar thing happens with Netscape 7, if we go to http://<host>:7777/oiddas, we get a popup saying "connection refused by <host>" (i.e., not by <host>:7777).
Did you look around in the installActions.log? E.g. for the config tools parameters
# grep apacheport= installActions<datetime of infra install>.logI will pass the above along to the person who did the installation, or check on it myself, but FYI, the Listen and Port directives in the infrastructure Apache httpd.conf is set to 7777. Is a port setting stored somewhere in the configs other than that?

Invalid URL Link in Content Area

Hi,
When I create a URL item which display directly on the Content Area. If I
enter a invalid URL addres, the system will show an error when I view the
folder, which is fine. However, it will disable me to see other item on the
same folder and there is also no way to delete that invalid URL item at all.
The only way is to delete the folder which will in turn delete all the items
under that folder, which, is not acceptable. Is there some form of solution ?

Open Activity monitor in Utilities, go to the CPU tab>All Processes, and note any process that would appear to be related to importing photos, such as iPhoto, and use Force Quit. This may only be a temporary fix, as it may start all over again when you reboot. If that happens, we need to do some more investigating.
Also, close all open Applications, then open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste and hit return, then post the output of this command.
lsof -l +L -R -V | grep /

Trying to Launch my new typestyler 11 or my old 10 version. Used to work great. then it would just shoe the splash screen and menu bar for a second and dissapear. the concolse message is the ATS: Invalid FontObjectID (4).
What does this mean and how do I fix it?

It's an old post, I know, but I've got this one now:

It's in my most important app and causing problems. I worked a lot on this trying to solve it but so far I can't. I'll take any advice you or anyone might have.

I noticed that some of recent updates in skype for mac started to be too clever with links I post in conversations - it tries to fetch the content, parse it and present some small excerpt if it in the conversation. But I mostly message links to closed sites - like Google Docs or internal knowledge base - and they require logging in. So, I know mostly see in my conversations with collegues something like this. How can I disable this behavior? I want to see plain links, I do not need this supersmart parsing.

Well, I want to see IMAGES in the chat (i.e. someone transmits actual image data), but I don't want to see WEB PREVIEWS (previews of web pages, or the picture an image URL points to) in the chat. Data is data, and a link is a link. Data should be displayed, and links should remain links. If someone wants me to see a web page, they should make a screen grab to their local computer, and then send me the picture as an image. Otherwise they should send me a link, which then I can peruse at my own convenience (which usually includes first scrubbing the link of any identifying trailing garbage.)
As a matter of fact, I don't want Microsoft/Skype to PARSE ANYTHING that I transmit.
Just as automatic loading of remote images in HTML e-mail messages constitutes a major security risk and privacy breach, so does this web preview function.
I have absolutely no intention to disclose who I'm conversing with and what we talk about, but if someone sends me a link that hasn't been properly "cleaned up", then the site will know who sent me the link, who received it, what the conversation might have been about etc. and that information is sent without my consent.
I have ZERO tolerance for Microsoft's lack of sensitivity to privacy, and where we users are being stripped naked to prying eyes, all in the guise of some "neat features".
I don't need no "neat features". If you want web links to work the way they are supposed to work on the Mac, then allow for a right-click with a QuickLook option, but display the link in it's full length with all the "garbage" that will be transmitted to the site when the link is clicked upon, no "user friendly URL" version, that makes a link look like it were a harmless, state-free static link, while in fact it's a 900 character long monster with encoded state and personal details. One might think that's part of the PRISM program...

I've got an application that keeps quitting randomly (25 times today) which yields this message in Console:

I really don't understand the message because I don't know what "FontObjectID (3)" and "low 16 bits are being passed in" mean. However I cleaned up the Font Book and deleted the Font cache to now avail.
Any ideas or help?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Youtube Facebook Google etc, Invalid URL error

For many years now I've been putting up with a CONSTANT lingering problem with my Mac OS. These (on a very regular basis) irritating, "Invalid URL" errors.
The picture that you see below is an example of my problem. This example of a Youtube video giving me an error is from a recent article on www.macrumors.com.
Where the youtube video is supposed to be is just an Error. And as I scrolled down the page, all of the subsequent youtube videos had this same error.
So I went to youtube. After typing in the web address, I get the same error except that it fills the entire screen.
After about 20 minutes (of constant screen refreshes and data dumps within safari) the youtube videos finally loaded as if nothing was wrong (as you can see in the second photo).
Sometimes this problems lasts for 10 seconds. But normally it can take between 10 minutes to an hour to begin working again.
The other two websites that give me this same trouble is Google.com and Facebook.com. But Facebook being the most notorious. Not just because my actual facebook page won't load, but because of all of the news sites that load facebook garbage and coding searching for facebook. When the facebook ip address cannot be resolved, these annoying error pop-ups begin bombarding my screen. One minute facebook will work, and I'm reading down the newfeed, then all of the sudden nothing new will load. When I try to refresh the page, I get an error stating that it cannot load the page. Then I just have to wait.
As you can see from the picture below, Sometimes facebook just gives me an error that states, "Safari cannot open the page Facebook.com because Safari cannot establish a secure connection to the facebook server."
This happens EVERY single day. It's really just a crap-shoot whether or not I will be able to get onto Facebook.
Youtube is a little less often (usually happening about 3 or 4 times per week).
Google got so bad that I finally had to change my search provider to Bing, because Google almost never worked.
Has anyone else experienced these problems on their MAC?
I ask because I have 3 MAC computers. 2 Laptops and a MacPro tower.
And EVERY single one has this same problem.
This wasn't such a big deal; ie something I learned to live with... Up until I bought my wife (and Windows Vista convert) her new Macbook Air. And within an hour of booting that thing up for the first time, her Facebook errored out. And has done it pretty consistantly every day, at least twice, since then.
If anyone else has this problem, how did you fix it????????

Short of dismantling and recreating a page how do i find out whats causing [Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]

Hi,
i received an indesign file to include in a folio that had links to the creators desktop where they had the assets for the web content overlay. When i try to update the folio i get the error message:
"Content generation error.
[Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]"
Which is fair enough.
The problem is, i have gone through and changed all URLs that I can see, but there is one somewhere, that I just can't find.
Is there a way to get a list of all web content overlays in a particular file? otherwise i will need to recreate the whole page again, and it has some pretty complex interactions which i rather wouldn't do.
I also cannot ask the original doc creator to just change the links as i'm sure he'll have the same issues as me, at not being able to track down the erroneous link.
The problem I have with DPS is that its not very transparent. you'll have to click on everything, and into every group to see what actions are on it, which can be extremely time consuming and frustrating when complex interactions are included.

I’ve found watching the process helpful to narrow down the page.
Working off a duplicate of the file, delete one layer at a time until you figure out what layer the problem is on.
From there it’s a bit easier to narrow down.

I created a site column at the root of my site and I have publishing turned on. I selected the Hyperlink with formatting and constraints for publishing.
I went to my subsite and added the column. The request was to have "Open in new tab" for their hyperlinks. I was able to get the column to be added and yesterday we added items without a problem.
The problem arose when, today, a user told me that he could not edit the hyperlink. He has modify / delete permissions on this list.
He would edit the item, in a custom list, and click on the address "click to add a new hyperlink" and then he would get the error below after succesfully putting in the Selected URL (http://www.xxxxxx.com), Open
Link in New Window checkbox, the Display Text, and Tooltip:
"Message from Webpage There was an error in the browser while setting properties into the page HTML, possibly due to invalid URLs or other values. Please try again or use different property values."
We are on IE 9.0.8.1112 x86, Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise Edition x64
The farm is running SharePoint 2010 SP2 Enterprise Edition August 2013 CU Mark 2, 14.0.7106.5002
and I saw in another post, below with someone who had a similar problem and the IISreset fixed it, as did this problem. I wonder if this is resolved in the latest updated CU of SharePoint, the April 2014 CU?

Again, if I update my SharePoint 2010 farm to April 2014 CU is this going to resolve the issue I have?
I don't mind changing the JS file, however I'd like to know / see if there is anything official regarding this instead of my having to change files.

We had the same issue after applying the SP2 & August CU. we open the case with MSFT and get the same resolution as you mentioned.
I blog about this issue and having the office reference.
Later MSFT release the Hotfix for this on December 10, 2013 which i am 100% positive should be part of future CUs.
So if you apply the April CU then you will be fine.
