Invalid win32 application

I got an error message while installing Ovi suite that came with my new E5.
I've tried to install from phone's memory card, and from my harddisk, both ended with the same error message : invalid win32 application.
I am using Win 7 Home Premium, Intel Quad Core, 4 GB Ram, 600 Gb Harddisk. Using Norton Internet Security 2011.
Can anybody help ? Thanks.
Ntonx

Try installing it from this link instead, it's likely to be newer than the version supplied on the phone:

    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

If I try to install the same JRE release it gives me an application error.
Could the files on the site be corrupt maybe? https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewFilteredProducts-SingleVariationTypeFilter

That gives me a not found error. Are you trying to download through here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
If that still won't work, then your downloads must be getting corrupt for some reason or another. Try downloading through another machine.

    hi Meemus!
"cannot delete JETDC24.tmp it is being used by another person or program"
i'd like you to download fresh definitions and run virus and spyware scans immediately. if your security software providers offer them, run online scans too. (they can sometimes pick up an infection in cases where the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
a file with that name in your TEMP folder is consistent with having a W32.pinfi infection:
    W32.Pinfi
(hexadecimal numbers include the letters A through F.)
... and the initial error message you reported looks suspiciously like one associated with a PrettyPark infection:
MS: You Are Unable to Start a Program with an .exe File Extension
so i think it might be prudent to try to get the malware possibilities off the table.

  • Itunes.exe not valid win32 application

i cannot install the new itunes update. because after i download the update my computer says that this is not a valid win32 application. how do i get rid of this and install the new update. i have tried all of the suggestions that are on the support site and still cannot get it to work.

This is a tricky error message...sigh...Let's try something first, besides the typical troubleshooting stuff.
Try setting up another User account thru XP with Full Admin Priveleges and see if iTunes and Quicktime will download and install on this account. Try saving the install to your hard drive and runnig it from there instead of running it over the 'Net.
Try completely removing Quicktime and iTunes on your current account. You may want to try Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to remove any remnants. Find out about that here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
I would also download a free program called CCleaner. http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000-2144_4-10315544.html
You can read about what it does from this page as well. It can help clear up some invalid Registry issues.

Thanks for the reply, i did have a look at the link and did not help. Just also worth mentioning is that on the system drive for a 64 bit you will find the following folders.
    C:\Program Files (x86)
    and
    C:\Program Files
i have also seen a mention about a folder containing a space " " in the folder name can cause this but it only relates to the folder as defined for a virtual directory ie C:\myWeps\app 1  where "app 1" has a space. The recommendation is that you should not have any spaces. ie
    E:\usr\sap\TXP\TRX02\exe\WebServer   as defined for TREX.
I have this installed also on a 32 bit with no issue.
Anyone else with some tips are well come

It suggests the installer is getting damaged during the download.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"
