Invalidating the MDX Cache

Dear all,
We are observing that even if we delete entries in the query cache, queries coming from BOBJ don't fire the corresponding SQL in the BW DB. We want to investigate now the content of the MDX cache, but so far we were not able to find a TX or similiar to manipulate (invalidate, current content, etc).
Any ideas ?
Kind regards, Philipp

Hi Philipp,
Can you share some information on the transaction you used for validating/invalidating the MDX Cache?
It will be very helpful. I couldn't find any info on this.
Thanks in advance.

  • Invalidating the PRT cache

I uploaded an iView (it includes an applet), but when I made change to this applet and uploaded it's iView (refreshed and compiled) to portal, I got old version of applet. I found this in Tips and Tricks:
    Invalidating the PRT cache
If you want to clean the PRT cache, please open a browser to the server and go to the following pages:
    1) In order to clean the cache in the memory – http://:/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/prtmode/_release
    2) In order to clean the PRT cache in the Database – http://:/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.prt.cache.DestroyCacheTableComponent
.. but when I reached this links (I tried this on two portals) I got mainly iView not found exception.
How to deal with it? Where can I download this iViews?
    Or is there another possibility?

    Hi Josef,
the PRT cache can be released by going to
System Administration -> Support -> Portal Content Directory -> Pcd Administration.
In addition, there is a http cache in the underlying J2EEEngine. I don't know if applets are cached there, but here's the way to delete the http cache:
open Visual Administrator -> server -> services -> http
Clicking the trash can icon releases the http cache. This has to be done for every cluster node.
And there is, of course, your browser cache...

If the termination type was RABAX_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination in the system BGP in transaction ST22.
If the termination type was ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination on the application server PEKAX531_BGP_01 in transaction SM21.
If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server PEKAX531_BGP_01 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.
If you do not yet have a user ID, contact your system administrator.

  • MDX cache location in BI

    Experts--
How can i administer the MDX cache which is used for BI broadcasting in a normal BI system.?
rsrt/rsrcache can be used  for OLAP cache...would like to know similiar for MDX cache...
    Best Regards,
    Vikash

BI 7/0 has new distribution types are Fill Precalculation Store, Precalculate Value Set, Fill OLAP Cache, and Fill MDX Cache. These distribution types allow the BEx Broadcaster to replace the functions of the Reporting Agent. (Old Reporting Agent scenarios still run in SAP NetWeaver 2004s. However, the Reporting Agent will not be developed any further and is removed from the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Data Warehousing Workbench. You can now only reach the Reporting Agent using transaction code REPORTING_AGENT.) The Fill Precalculation Store distribution type allows you to precalculate Web templates, and the Precalculate Value Set option you to fill pre-calculated value set variables with values for characteristic values. The pre-calculated value sets are then available as variable values in BEx queries. With the Fill OLAP Cache, and Fill MDX Cache distribution types, you can warm up the OLAP and MDX cache with BEx queries.
You can check with tcode The new T-code RSRD_ADMIN which allows Administrators easy access to three key sources of information:
    Global broadcast settings
    Schedules of broadcast settings
    Broadcast logs
You can also check with tcode SDMO with text search for required functionality.

  • Oracle 9i - Invalid or Stale Connection found in the Connection cache

    Hi all,
    I did the following steps:
    1. Deployed my application in Jboss and started the jboss and my application.
    2. Re-started my database when the application is alive and running.
    3. Tried to login to the application.
    4. I got the following exception:
    NO MORE DATA TO READ
    5. Then i set the Oracle Data Source property DB_VALIDATE_CONNECTION=true via my application.
    6. But still i get the following exception when i log in first time to the application. But not in subsequent attempts. I am able to login to the application except for the first time.
“java.sql.SQLException: Invalid or Stale Connection found in the Connection Cache”.
Please let me know why this exception occurs.
    Thanks!!

  • Upgrading JWS applications installed in the system cache (enterprise)

    Hello,
On request from several customers, I've looked into the best way to install a web start application for all users on a computer. These customers have users sharing computers, and the IT department doesn't want to be inconvenienced with installing applications on every user profile on every computer. The following articles provides a thorough explanation into how this can be done.
    http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/javaws.html
    http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html
By specifying the system deployment.config and deployment.properties files and performing the following installation command as an administrator, the application is made available for all current and new users with shared icons on the desktop and the start menu. This works actually very nicely.
    javaws -system -import https://server/app.jnlp
However, I'm running into different problems when trying to upgrade the application. The application uses an online shortcut (but can be run in offline) and the update check is set to background.
If an ordinary (non-administrator) user start the application when a new version is available on the server, web start downloads the new version in the background, but into the user's personal cache! When restarting the application, the old shared version still starts. Web start does not download the new version, presumably because it found the new files in the personal cache.
Another approach I tested was to use offline icons and manually performing a new system installation/import. This downloads the new version into the shared system cache, but leaves all shortcuts invalid. Now the only solution to start the application is to run it from Java Control Panel. It's not even possible to recreate the shortcuts.
I'm wondering if I'm doing anything wrong or if there exists some best practices for enterprise installations that I'm not aware of. I'm suspecting that these problems are due to limitations or bugs with JWS, but I thought to check with the community before reporting it officially to Oracle.
The customers are using client computers with Windows flavours.
I've been testing on Windows 7 64 bit using the 32 bit JRE 1.6.0_u23.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. If you are handling enterprise installations in altogether different manner, don't hesitate to respond.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Were you able to solve your problem?
Actually, I'm planning to install the application for all users in a system and I'm on the investigation process.
In fact, these are my concerns:
    - What is going to happen if a user with limited permissions tries to install a javaws application and it has been enable to be installed on system cache?
    - Where the deployment files need to be located? In the web server (where jnlp is located)?
    - Could system cache installation be performed automatically (when jnlp file is launched) or it would be performed by a system administrator?
If you could share some information on how you installed a javaws application for all users, I would really appreciate it.

  • MDX cache

    HI,
Am working in WEBI where source is SAP Bex query.Since the performance is very slow.
I used Reporting agent (precalculated crystal report queries)  for filling MDX cache but still my webi report is running for long time.
Could any one can explain how to make use of MDX cache in BI
    Regards,
    Kannan

    Hi,
Shame you didn't mention your BObj version...
What notes are relevant to you depends entirely on the MDX expression and many other factors.
    Try this:
    www. service.sap.com/notes
    Application area: BW-BEX-OT-MDX
    Search terms:
    a) performance runtime SAPKW70108
    b) performance runtime SAPKW70109
    c) performance runtime SAPKW70110
--> you will get a list of about 20 corrections, which include notes such as:
    1553927, 1507653 , 1481568 , 1579304 , 1481835 , 1517091 , 1528869 , 1554272 , 1574984 , 1573815
All i have done is checked Note 1142664 - MDX: Composite SAP note about performance improvements

So I think that if can off JVM heap Memory used in the Near-Cache front-tier?
Or can help how to config the  off JVM heap Memory used in the Near-Cache front-tier.
    Thanks.

Only local-scheme and class-scheme can be used in the front-scheme of a near cache.

  • How can I clear the DNS cache?

I haven't been able to connect to my local Library since January.  When I key in the URL, it starts the access routine and then after about 20 minutes, I have to kill it because nothing happens.  I contacted the IT folks at the library and was told that they had made a few changes around the time my problem began so maybe the DNS cache was still pointing at the old info.  He recommended that I enter TERMINAL mode and try to clear the DNS cache, using  "sudo dscacheutil -flushcache" command.   .  I attempted this several times, even changing my applid password, and kept getting invalid responses.

I did try that and after a few trys it finally worked.  It took quite awhile for the window for the library to finally come up, but it did and I am now able to get in and out with no problems with my library access.  Now when I call up my bank, parts of it don't come up and it kicks me out.  Now, I'll have to search for what fixes that - as it has happened before, so I know it's fixable.  Thanks for you help though.

  • Problems configuring the database cache

I am trying to configure the db cache and running into problems with the step of starting the management engine component.
    I get:
Starting the Management Engine Component failed
Reason: Lost connection to cache roma-icache
    Processing failed.
I also get a dialog box that says "Invalid login credentials for cache."
My origin db (8.1.6) is on an HP machine and the cache db is on a sun machine - Solaris 7.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Travis

    Hi,
Agree with Tibor. Database Mail is not supported in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.
Please check out the below link to determine which features are supported by the different editions of SQL Server 2008 R2.

  • Invalid address in cache

At some point on an annoying hotel wifi it intercepted my attempt to go to http://news.bbc.co.uk and replaced it with https:/news.bbc.co.uk , while actually returning the wifi login page.
Unfortunately now that https seems stuck in my sync profile somehow, and it's invalid, the BBC doesn't host their site over SSL.
Is there any way I can clear it out? It's annoying that every time I type in the address it autocompletes it with the https. I've tried deleting it from the auto-populating drop-down bar.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

  • How to invalidate the browser cache?

    Hello,
at the [AFP Wiki Site|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/AFP/SAPPortal-AjaxFramework+Page] I found the document "Ajax Framework Page (AFB) - Features and Benefits", where it says
! There's no need to manually clear the browser cache when it is automatically
    invalidated
Browser cache is automatically invalidated when
The SAP NetWeaver Portal is updated with a new Support Package (SP)
    Content has changed
User's roles are modified (adding/removing all or parts of roles)
Does anbody know how to force this invalidation on client or server side? I mean, how does the client side cache know that the roles of a user changed?

    Hi Björn,
you might know this but just to be sure.
Backend side: HTTP > invalidate via visual admin, Navigation cache to be invalidated via system administration role, PCD cache  to be invalidated via system administration role
Client side: to force the browser to pull the new content with IE > CtrlF5, FF > CtrlShift+R. The new HTTP content is pulled even if the server HTTP cache stores old content. In case of F5 the old content from the server HTPS cache will be pulled.
    See you next week!
    Best regards,
    Alex
