Inventor to Acrobat 3D to Photoshop?

I'm able to open Autodesk Inventor files in Acrobat 3D, but can't figure out how to get them from there into Photoshop CS3 Extended. Some hand-holding would be appreciated. I'm not Acrobat literate... just evaluating Acrobat 3D as a possible link between our Engineering and Marketing folk (who want to be able to open Inventor files and manipulate the models to create graphics for brochures and such). Thanks.
Heather

Photoshop CS3 Extended can open U3D (ECMA 1) files that you can export out of the 3D Toolkit that ships with Acrobat 3D.
Please follow the steps below to read an Autodesk Invenor file in 3D Toolkit and export it to U3D:
1) launch 3D Toolkit (a separate executable from Acrobat 3D)
2) drag and drop the Inventor file to 3D Toolkit
3) go to 'File->Save As'
4) choose 'Universal 3D export' from the 'Save as type' list
5) click on Settings to change a few parameters
6) select 'ECMA 1st edition' and change any other parameter you need
7) click OK
8) click Save
The .u3d file you just created can now be opened in Photoshop CS3 Ext.

  • Reinstall and reregister InDesign CS3, Acrobat 9 and Photoshop 7

    I just lost my Dell Latitude Laptop and my office Desktop computers, thanks to Sandy. Now I must reinstall Adobe Indesgin CS3, Acrobat 9 and Photoshop 7; as well as Windows XP and MS Office Pro 2003. What can I do to make the re-registrations of these products go smoothly, i.e. not take a week?

    Not sure what you are trying to say. You need to properly reinstall them. Downloads can be found here for most legacy products:
    Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
    Activations can be reset by calling support. there is no need to re-register. If you did once, all the info is on your Adobe account already.

    You cannot move or copy software between computers. You must reinstall. You will need the serial number. Check your account details on Adobe's site if you registered.

  • Colors in acrobat different from photoshop/indesign

    In Photoshop I use a 'Europe Prepress 3' color setting for my images. In Indesign I use the same color settings. 'Europe Prepress 3' for RGB and Coated FOGRA 39 (ISO 12647-2:2004). The image looks the same in Photoshop as it does when placed in an Indesign document. Then I create the pdf through Indesign. When I open the pdf document in Acrobat the image looks more red than in Photoshop/Indesign. In Acrobat I've also got the exact same color settings in its preferences. Why does the girl's face on the photo look much more red in the pdf file while in Acrobat than when opened in Photoshop or viewed while placed in an Indesign document? When I open the pdf in Photoshop it looks ok again. I've got the exact same color management settings in Acrobat, Photoshop and Indesign. So what's wrong with  Acrobat?

    Ok, I thought using the same color management settings as in Photoshop/Indesign should make it look the same. Is there any point at changing that in Acrobat then?

  • Photoshop PDF resolution and color space difference: Acrobat vs. Photoshop?

    I have received several Photoshop PDFs from different sources. In Acrobat, the document properties indicate the PDF producer as Adobe Photoshop for macintosh -- Image Conversion Plug-in. When checking the image either with PitStop or through Photoshop via Acrobat's Touch up object tool, the image shows as a 100 dpi RGB image. If the PDF is opened directly in Photoshop, Photoshop indicates it is 300 dpi and CMYK.
    Does anyone know why there is this difference? Also what is the Image Conversion Plug-in and how does it work?

    Ah, sorry; in that case possibly the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities-button was hit (thus including the original psd-file) but a low-res-pdf-setting selected.
    In which case the original data would appear to be CMYK and of a higher resolution that the pdf-images.

  • Reducing the Size of an Acrobat PDF in Photoshop - Troubleshooting

    I'm not sure if I am missing something really basic but essentially I have these PDF catalogs which are about 20 - 50MB each.  Some of my customers are not comfortable browsing online so a digital catalog (here) works better for them... The same people generally have bad internet connections so I need to resize these PDF's so they can be downloaded rather quickly.
    Starting with a 20MB PDF, I open all slides within Photoshop.  I batch process the images from 300dpi to 96dpi , and shrink the size from 24 Inches across to 15... All the images are saved in a new folder, opened back in photoshop and a new PDF is created.  Considering both size and dpi has been clipped by a farely large amount, you would think that the new PDF would be smaller... But its not, the 20MB version ends up around 60MB afterward.
    I don't feel like purchasing Acrobat Pro because I know this should work within Photoshop... Am I missing something really simple?
    I searched for tuturials but came back empty handed, so if you know where I can find one.  That my be easier than explaining if I'm way off.
    Thx,
    ~mike

    first make sure to UNcheck "preserve Photoshop editing capabilities" on your packaged PDF
    next JPEG compression image quality
    those should get your Photoshop PDF sizes managable...
    PS: make sure you CONVERTED to sRGB in Photoshop and embeded/tagged the ICC profile in the Saved PDF (so it has the best chance of displaying colors proper)
    here is example of Photoshop's Save As> Photoshop PDF> Output> Color Conversion (to tagged sRGB)

  • Acrobat 5 mit Photoshop 7 - Problem

    Hallo allesamt!
    Christian

  • Can't open Acrobat Pro 9 with Photoshop cs5 open

    For some reason I can't open pdf files or even the Acrobat application while photoshop cs5 is open.  As soon as I shut it down I can open the file no problems.  I'm assuming it has something to do with how much memory photoshop is using, but I've never had this problem before with any previous versions.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

    I've noticed two ways it misfunctions
    1) Photoshop is open
    2) I try to open acrobat by either using the quick launch icon that has always worked in the past, or by opening a pdf file either in a folder or as a link on the web.  It will not open and offers no error message.  It merely 'dings' at me like when you try to click on something in a doc when you've got another window open and u need to press ok or cancel before you can do anything else.
    or
    1) I've already got acrobat open
    2) I open photoshop ok
    3) I go back to acrobat and try to do something like print and the program crashes and shuts down... no error message.
    Opening at the original exe doesn't change anything.  Acrobat works fine when photoshop isn't open.

  • Differing CMYK in Acrobat and Photoshop (same file)

    Hi,
    I posted this in the Acrobat forum and haven't had a response yet. I am also posting here since it is related to both Acrobat and Photoshop, in case someone in the Photoshop forum can respond. Thanks.
    I read different CMYK values for the same PDF file in Acrobat and Photoshop. (Acrobat 9 and Photoshop CS4)
    I  read the colours in Photoshop after opening the file as 16-bit CMYK. I  read the colours for the same PDF file in Acrobat in Output Preview  (Point Sample).
    Amongst the most noticeable is black:
    Photoshop:
    C=75%
    M=68
    Y=67
    K=90
    Acrobat:
    C=0%
    M=0
    Y=0
    K=100
    How can that be? Which one to believe?

    If your assumption is correct, I don't understand why Photoshop would overrule the CMYK colours in the PDF and interpret them differently, especially since when opening the PDF in Photoshop, I select the CMYK 16-bit option.
    Why not? You are merely tagging the objects and force-overriding the color conversion rule based on the original state they were embeded in. Nothing gets ever truly converted in the sense it would in PS. This is merely a way of fixing issues in pre-press and generating the ink plates based thereon and IMO PS is correct in ignoring these device dependent settings and uses its own color management to convert. The way I see it, there is nothing wrong here.

  • Open PDF in Photoshop, manipulate, save as PDF, open in Acrobat...Blurry???

    Hello,
    I have Acrobat Pro and Photoshop CS2.
    I've noticed that if I open a crisp and clean looking PDF in Photoshop, maybe delete some text (with the eraser tool), then save the document as a PDF, when I open it again in Acrobat Pro, it's now pixelated and blurry and looks awful.
    Why does this happen if it went from PDF to PDF, and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?
    Thanks,
    Justin

    Photoshop PDF format is slightly different than Acrobat PDF. Photoshop must rasterize the PDF (which is where you get the blur). In this case, it is not ideal to use Photoshop to edit PDF that was generated by another design app.
    You should delete/alter text in Acrobat Pro - - or go to the original document that generated the PDF file.
