Inventory collection fails
I have an agent running on SPARC Solaris 10 that errors off trying to collect inventory (agent 10.2.0.5). It returns the following error:
Oracle Software collection problem(s): Problem encountered when collecting central inventory: Failed to collect OUI inventory: null
If I look in the emagentfetchlet.trc file, it gives a warnings:
track.OracleInventory collectInventory.856 - Check emd.properties for OUI classpath entries.
track.OracleInventory createLiveSnapshotComponent.350 - ECM: Problem encountered when collection central inventory: oracle.sysman.comm.ecm.trk.GettingComponentException: Failed to collect OUI inventory: null
I checked my classpath information and it's all valid.
Any ideas?
The agent is running but when I refresh the host configuration, I get the following error:
Error displaying host configuration - java.lang.NullPointerException Check to see that the Management Agent is running and try refreshing the host by clicking on the Refresh button. If the host configuration does not display, click Help for more information about refreshing host configuration.

LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 Inventory collection failing for switches
I have 6 switches that inventory is failing for. They do run the 12.2(33)SXI3 software but I have the CSCtb16925-1.0 patch installed. I've tried to increase the SNMP timeout for the devices but they still fail.
Ideas?
Chris JasztrabYou did not properly increase the SNMP timeout. Go to RME > Devices > Device Management > RME Devices, and edit the attributes of the device in question. Perform an inline edit. Click on the device name, then change the existing SNMP timeout value to 10. Then save your changes, and apply them on the previous screen. Then inventory collection should work.

LMS 3.1 Inventory Collection fails
I have the same problem as the following post:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/176673?tstart=0&viewcondensed
Also, LMS fails inventory collection every time. I click on the "failed" link from LMS Portal, but the page never comes up detailing why it has failed. This is after I fixed an issue with group policy overwriting the "Logon as batch" setting for casuser. Everything appeared to be up and running normally again, when I noticed the next day that inventory polling/collection is failing. pdshow attatched.
The following error message continues to show up in the rme_ctm.log file:

Inventory collection fails on VSS and 6509 switches
We have approximately 12 devices that are listed as "Inventory Never Collected". When trying to run the collection manually we get errors as shown in the attached log files.
We are running RME 4.3.1 under LMS3.2.
The devices are running IOS versions:
12.2(18)SXF7
Can anyone assist?
JonThe last error I saw was a timeout issue, and that is a known issue that can be solved by increasing the timeout. With the higher timeout, clear out the IC_Server.log, then run a new inventory collection job and post the new log. You may also need to do a sniffer trace filtering on all SNMP traffic to the device while performing the inventory collection. This should indicate to what value the timeout needs to be set.

Inventory collection fails on LMS4.0 with ASA5510
Hello,
We have added the ASA5510 and 5505 manually to LMS4.0.
After doing an inventory discovery the result is it fails...so we can't continue doing anything with it in LMS.
Has anybody of you been able to add the ASA to LMS4.0??
If yes any advise you can give me?
I suppose it shoulf not be any different from LMS3.2
I used another test ASA with a blank config with an IP-address on the inside interface, nameif command and a snmp-server community ro string.
snmp-server enable is also there. ASA is running 8.2
LMS can ping the device and we can SSH to it (also enabled)
PLEASE help me....

I have attached a more detailed output from the IC_Server.log file for the Inventory Collection job of the device.
The error at first glance appears to be related to EnergyWise, so I even tried creating an SNMP view that excludes the EnergyWise MIB with the following configuration:
snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB iso included
snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB ciscoEnergywiseMIB excluded
snmp-server community L1ghty3@rSnmp$ view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB RO
snmp-server group ADMIN v3 auth read EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB
But that didn't seem to fix it, the Inventory Collection still fails. (Perhaps this configuration is incorrect?).
Has anyone experienced any issues like this? I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, and have trawled through the support forums but couldn't find anything.Hi,
First of all very nice research with logs
You are hitting the below bug , which will be fixed in LMS 4.2.However an official Patch will be release in the mid of october so you can conatct cisco to get the Patch for the same in October.

Inventory Collection Failure with LMS 3.2
Hi,
I've been running LMS 3.2 with RME 4.3.1.
Inventory Collection fails while trying to collect data from 7825I Media Convergence Servers running Call Manager 6.1.
It fails with the following error:
RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device.
I have tried deleting and adding the device again, but with no effect.
The Call Manager server has ip 192.168.5.5, here it is the IC_Server.log attached.
Looking at the log, I see there is some kind of database error, but I don't know how can be avoided.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
VelinI have removed the Call Managers from RME, and then re-added them again.
After that I started a inventory collection job but it failed again with the same error. I've tried some times with the inventory job but it fials every time.
I read about the bug you've mentioned and it is advised to patch the RME. Since i'm running the latest version, what can i do? -
Prime failed inventory collection
Hi
I am having problems too numerous to mention on prime.
But i need to get it to try an inventory collection as they last one was nearly a month ago.
However when i try and get it to do this it fails
I am on my menu/default dashboards/device status
then under collection summary i go to Schedule and shedule and immediate collection
It always fails ... why is that ?
Any ideas at all on this gratefully accepted
SteveHi Steve,
Check the status of "pdshow" command
make sure all the necessary services are running..
Try to restart the LMS services (net stop crmdmgtd && net start crmdmgtd ) / /etc/init.d/dmgts stop && /etc/init.d/dmgd start)
If above does not help share the status of "pdshow" and IC_server.log
Thanks-
Afroz

RME 4.3, Inventory Collection doesn't work for 6500
I have a issue with Inventory collection for 6500 devices running IOS 12.2.33 SXI1, fails with a message, "device collection failed"
From IC_Server log i could see SNMP Request timeout exception, so increased SNMP timeout to 10 under device attributes for the device but still it fails.
attacehd is the extract from IC_Server log.
Could anybody help me on this? ThanksYou have not increased the timeout properly. You need to go to RME > Devices > Device Management > RME Devices, and edit the attributes for the required device. Select the device from the list in the left-hand pane to pre-populate the current attributes. Then increase the SNMP timeout to 10, and save the changes. On the previous screen, you will need to APPLY those changes before the 10 second timeout will take effect.

LMS 4.1 W2k8 R2
I recently installed 17 stacks of 3560V2 switches at a site and added them to LMS4.1. What I have found is that data collection is failing for all but the top switch in the stack. In other workds, in some cabinets I may have 4 switches connected back to a 6500 core. Data collection succeeds for only the switch connected to the core. UT info is not collected for the switches that fail data collection.
If I go to the device status dashboard I see that I have data collection succeeding for 56 devices and failing for 96 devices. For the devices that fail some are listed as unreachable and others as never-reachable. In either case, the following is suggested as a resolution:
Verify the following :
1. Device is reachable using ping.
2. Verify that DCR is configured with correct credentials for the device.
These devices are reachable. Inventory collection is succeeding. If I test reachability in device center I get successes across the board - even for SSH, though no username is specified in DCR so I can't see how that works.
The 17 stacks I just installed are configured as clusters in those cabinets that have more than 1 switch. However, they are not managed as clusters by LMS. They all have IP addresses. I just use clustering to facilitate bouncing around a stack from a telnet command line.
I deleted one of these switches and re-added. Now ping, HTTP, SSHv1 & v2 succeed in device center - but everything else fails. When I run a credential verification job on this switch it reports SNMP read and write success, telnet & enable success, and SSH "no value to test". The credential verification results are as I would expect.
I am at a loss at this point. How do I troubleshoot the data collection issue?
