Inventory Database files

Hi everyone,
I just came onboard a new job that has not been using ZENworks to its full advantage. They are currently only using it for remote control/view. Currently I am trying to setup their inventory database, but they do not have any of their original discs. I was wondering if anybody had the file p1mssqlinvdb.zip??? It is located on the ZENworks 6.5 Companion 2 CD\database\mssql directory , if at all possible could someone send me that file or let me know where I can get it??
Thanks in advance!!

  • Probable BUG found in Sybase Inventory database

    Hi All,
    (Sure is quiet around here - must be because ZDM 7 is so stable...)
    So I have been having inventory database issues. Random but inevitable
    database failures - eg "assertion failed 201425" (and other numbers that I
    cannot locate at the moment), "mgmtdbs.db is not a valid database file" on
    starting the sybase database. Etc.
    Long troubleshooting story short: it appears that the sybase.nlm application
    cannot handle nss volumes that are large. In my case it fails if I try to
    run it on a 3.6TB or 5TB volume, but succeeds if I run it on small volumes -
    20GB to 65GB. Also the database was running fine on a 1.8TB volume - the
    problems began when I virtualized the server (on ESX 3.5u4) and moved the
    volume from direct-attached scsi storage to network-attached CoRAID (AoE)
    storage AND expanded the volume to 3.6TB.
    To test my theory I ran the database on two other servers and 3 other
    volumes. In all cases success came when the hosting volume was small -
    didn't matter if the host volume was direct attached or on a physical server
    as opposed to a virtual server.
    So if you are having inventory database problems, try moving the database to
    volume that is small - I suspect the magic breaking point is 2TB which just
    happens to be the maximum size of an NSS partition...and wasn't that also
    the max size of an NSS volume sometime in the past? Maybe the sysbase
    engineers were working in such an environment when they wrote the
    nlm...after all it has been 4 years since it was last modified (I am running
    v8.00.03, Nov 30 2005) and even longer since it was originally written.
    Anyways, the reason it fails is not so important. There is a workaround and
    a long term solution as well - move to ZCM 10.whatever-is-good ;-)

    Isn't it funny how once unfathomable disk sizes are now not that unusual?
    My guess is you are correct and if an SR was created on the issue Novell
    would likey raise the matter to Sybase for investigation.
    (Clearly this sounds as if its a bug and would be refunded.)
    But I think it's unlikely that it would be fixed even if verified since the
    NLM is already so old.
    While you have simple work-arounds, It is possible that the Windows and
    Linux versions of Sybase that come with ZDM don't have this issue.

  • Delete Inventory Database

    This probably sounds stupid, but I'm looking for a way to just dump the
    current ZEN7 Inventory Database and start it from scratch.
    There's so much garbage workstation information in there, and I'm not at
    all interested in querying the results, then filtering, purging, etc.
    I want to blow it away, then start it from scratch. Is there a quick TID
    on how to do this? Or am I manually deleting objects and then reinstalling
    the Inventory portion of ZENworks?
    Thanks for any help,
    Brian

    Just to follow-up, I had to install the ZEN 7.0 SP1 R2 anyway so I renamed
    the old ZENworks folder that held all the ZEN database files. It let me
    rename with no issues.
    I kept the same settings and told it to install to the same volume as it
    did before, so it simply created a new "Zenworks" folder and added all the
    database files in there.
    I went to run a report and it only contained like 4 workstations and all
    the other ones were gone so that seemed to do the trick just fine. It's
    been building perfectly and everything is looking great. Thanks again for
    your help.

  • Appleworks takes 1.5 minutes to save database file

    Why does my database file take so long to save information? I have added small thumbnail images to my art inventory and since then it takes what seems like an eternity to save. Is there any way i can speed it up?

    You've probably answered your own question when you said:
    I have added small thumbnail images to my art inventory
    Images, even thumbnails, take up a lot of room. If the images are anything except PICT, they'll increase the file size even more.
    Even so, a minute still seems long, so there might be a couple of other factors at work. Databases, especially those with multimedia fields, are more prone to corruption than any other AppleWorks file type. It is worth have multiple backups of your database at all times to fall back on if needed. Second, it could be a simple as a full Recent Items folder. See Dale Gillard's user tip,
    AppleWorks slow? Spinning ball appears?, should help.

  • C1 Inventory Database object

    I've been trying to install ZDM services on a OES2 server and have been having all sorts of trouble. After numerous reinstalls, I've decided to install the parts one at a time until I found what wasn't working, and it ends up being the Inventory Database. I have performed a new install of the Inventory Database only, it creates the object in ConsoleOne, I can configure the properties of it, but when I try to do the Tools->Zen Inventory-> Configure DB, I keep getting a message saying that it is unable to connect, check database properties and make sure that it is running.
    The only property that I have changed is changing the server name from DNS address to IP address, nothing else. I've checked the services on the server and novell-zdm-sybase is running, but I'm not seeing any log files in /var/log/novell/zenworks, only the logs from installation. Any ideas at where I should be looking next? Thanks!

    They are running, and all of the services that I have installed are also running, but I still get the error. I have noticed that when I have a clean install with only OES2 and ZDM everything works, but I also want to have GWMobile on the same server and that is usually where I run in to trouble. The only changes that I've made is the apache listen.conf file to different ports so that GWMobile works on the server, but after installing ZDM I get a "cannot contact relay server" from the localhost when I try to access the login page, but that is another issue. It seems like I can either install GWM or ZDM on the server it is fine, but they don't seem to get along together. Any ideas for something else to check would be great. Thanks!

  • Sync Inventory Database

    I'm running ZFD32 SP3 on a 51SP7 server. To sync the inventory database
    with the nds one I ran startser ndslookupfordb which ran fine and created
    a lok file. When I ran the dbdelete command and looked at the log, I found
    that there were about 10 entries that resembled the following...
    1020: workstation <WS object name> not deleted because it is corrupted in
    the database...wsid=0.
    Any ideas on how to remove these corrupted workstation objects from the
    database would be greatly appreciated.

  • Unable to connect to inventory database ??

    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this post. I have a problem with ZFD3.2 inventory
    that
    is driving me crazy ... I have a Inventory system set up at one of our
    customers with Netware 6 servers ZFD3.2 and an inventory database on Oracle. All systems are working. I see that the storer is updating
    files
    in the database. Now I want to do an Inventory query from ConsolOne. I
    go
    to a workstation of the customer and start ConsoleOne. I do tools-
    configureDB and get an error message saying "Unable to connect to the
    inventory database - Check if database is up and running". Next I take
    my
    own laptop and do the same thing. It works, I see "succesfully
    connected
    to the database". OK, so I copy the ConsoleOne from my laptop to the customer's computer. Same error... So there must be something on my
    laptop
    that's not on the customers computer. But what ?? What am I missing
    here ?
    regards, Ren

    Hi Kai,
    Sorry for the delayed answer. My cable internet provider decided he
    had
    provided enough internet and my connection was gone for two days...
    I have tried to run it from the server but this made no difference. It
    seems
    to be related to the workstation you run ConsoleOne on. I've always
    thought
    that it was only depended on the snapins, but it seems that there's
    more to
    it..... I've tried windows2000 and windows XP prof with clients 4.83,
    4.83
    SP1, and 4.83 sp2.
    When I run the consoleone copy on my laptop (winxp prof with cl 4.83)
    it
    works fine, but when I copy the consoleone directory to another
    workstation
    I get an error.
    regards, Ren

    Hi,
    while generating a crystal report can we edit database files in field explorer (at middle can we edit database fields)
    Regards,
    Mahendra

    Wrong forum to post the question, try to post the question in crystal reports community.
    Its not possible to edit the database fields while creating the reports, its only used to call the rows of values in it. Can you explain me in detail what are you actually looking for .

  • SQL and database file

    Hello.(sorry for my english)
    I have a legacy system , ported to opencobol that uses Berkeley DB. I can successfully open the database files using java both in windows and linux. However i want to create a web front end for the application.
    Data is stored using strange cobol structures (most numbers are stored as text or 4 bits per digit) and other fancy stuff.. so custom parsers should be written. (dont rember BDB classes name for that)
    I have been reading the documentation of Berkeley DB 12 hours totaly today but couldnt find answers to some questions...
    Is it possible to attach the database to dbsql.exe (sqlite) server ?? I tried to do "attach "..pathtofile" as NULL ,but i get multiple databases specified and not supported and other stupid messages....
    I think that what i tried propably doesnt make sense as collumns arent specified and nothing is in order this thing to work ..It is a simple Key value database.
    So i am a little stucked here.
    The only solution i can think is to synchronize with a relational Database. But i dont have triggers or nothing that helps....
    Note that i want one way synchronization. The "other way" will have very limited tasks.
    It seems to me that checking every x minutes if something changed using a cursor is a demanding task. So i am wondering.. Is there a way to track changes???
    Thank you :)

    Hello,
    I am not sure I completely understand your question. If you are asking about importing
    and exporting data from a Berkeley DB database into an Oracle DB Table in Berkeley DB
    releases prior to 5.*, then this can be done with the Oracle OCI interface. If I am
    misunderstanding the question, please let me know.

  • Finding whole mapping from database file - filesystems - logical volume manager - logical partitions

    Hello,
    Trying to make reverse engeneering of database files and their physical carriers on logical partitions ( fdisk ).
    And not able to make whole path from filesystem down to partitions with intermediate logical volumes.
    1. select from dba_data_files ...
    2. df -k
    to get the listing of filesystems
    3. vgdisplay
    4. lvdisplay
    5. cat /proc/partitions
    6. fdisk /dev/sda -l
       fdisk /dev/sdb -l
    Problem I have is that not able to determine which partitions are consisten in logical volumes. And then which logical volumens are consisted in filesystem.
    Thank you for hint or direction.

    Hello Wadhah,
    Before start the discussion let me explain I am newcommer to Oracle Linux. My genetic with dba experience of Oracle is from IBM UNIX ( AIX 6.1 ) and Oracle 11gr2.
    First task is to get the complete picture of one database on Oracle Linux for future maintenance tasks and make database more flexible and
    preparing for more intense work:
    -adding datafiles,
    -optimize/replace archive redolog files on separated filesystem from ORACLE_BASE
    - separating auditing log files from $ORACLE_BASE to own filesystem
    - separating diag directory on separated file system ( logging, tracing )
    - adding/enlarging TEMP ts
    - adding/enlarging undo
    - enlarging redo for higher transaction rate ( to reduce number of switched per time perceived in alert_SID.log )
    - adding online redo and control files mirrors
    So in this context try to inspect content of the disk space from the highest logical level in V$, DBA views down to fdisk partitions.
    The idea was to go in these steps:
    1. select paths of present online redo groups, datafiles, controlfiles, temp, undo
       from V$, dba views
    2. For the paths got from the step 1
       locate filesystems and for those filesystems inspect which are on logical volumens and which are directly on partitions.
    3. For all used logical volumes locate the logical partitions and their disks /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, ...

  • How to query a database file on my hard drive?

    Hi,
    I have a filer called "server.dbs" on my hard drive. It is a database file. I use a simple program that allows you to view databases, and it loads up and I can traverse the database and see all the entries as any standard database.
    So I figured that Java's ability to handle SQL would allow me to make a standard SQL statement querying the database, and be able to get the results. The software stores servers in SID fields, and the value is the port the server runs on. I want to make a simple query to select a server by SID, and print the port in which that server is running on.
    So is there any way to, via my java application, load a database from a file (rather than a url) which has no authentication required, and simply make my queries directly to that file? If so, how?
    Thanks!
    -Josh

    Normal database access is via JDBC.
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html
    To use that JDBC driver is needed to access the database. Databases in wide usage all have one. It isn't clear from your posting that you have a common database though.

    Hi K Nani,
    From your error message
    ora_01122:database file 8 failed cerification check
    ora_01110:datafile 8:d:\oracle\sid\sapdata1\sr3_5\sr3.data5'
    ora_01251:unknown file header version read for file number 8
    Looks like Data file is corrupted.
    You may refer SAP note 696141 - Composite SAP Note: ORA-01122
    10. ORA-01251: Unknown File Header Version read for file number <file_id>
    Reason: The file header cannot be correctly read.
    Solution: If you use Oracle 9.2 on WINDOWS and if you already installed the database with Oracle 7.2 or lower, see Note 636466.
               Otherwise: Restore/recovery
    Only solution here is restore the database from backup.
    Alternate solution If it is a non-production system.
    If the file is corrupted, then take the datafile offline and open the database.
    Hope this helps
    Regards,
    Deepak Kori

  • [SOLVED] database file for multilib does not exist

    Hey guys I ran into a problem today when I tried to install the proper packages I needed to use my wifi card. However when I tried to install it it gives me the error "database file for multilib does not exist" I can t seem to find out why I even tried chrooting into it and installing it that way with no luck. The package I tried to install was "pacman -S wireless_tools netcfg" thanks for the help guys you've been great.

    Ok so the whole output is as follows:
    Warning: database file for 'multilib' does not exist
    Error: failed to prepare transaction (could not find database)
    And my Pacman.conf is blank
    pacman.conf and Pacman.conf (with capital 'P') are two different files. Double-check this.
    Are you running a 64-bit system?
    Your /etc/pacman.conf should look like this: https://projects.archlinux.org/pacman.g … an.conf.in but with some repositories configured: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … positories

  • How to use database file within jar archive

    Hi. I'm quite new in Java programming, and I'm wondering if what I did makes sense or not.
    In my applet I'm using a MS Access Database file, which is contained in the same Jar Archive like the Applet class file. I tried and tried to use this Database file directly but it wouldn't work. Than I read in some other forum that it is not possible to use the database file directly within the archive. First question: Is that true?
    Than I desided to extract the DB file in the init() method of my applet to the default temporary foulder. When the program is closed I use the destroy() method to delete it again. Everything works well now. But is this the typical way this is done?
    Thanks for help!

    Hi,
    here is the code which extracts the database file out of the jar archive (the same archive in which the class file is):
    //get the user temporary folder
    File TempFolder = new File(System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir"));
    //create (empty) db file
    efile = new File(TempFolder, "steelSections.mdb");
    // if database file is not yet extracted
    if (!efile.exists()) {
    //get an input stream for the database file
    InputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(
    "FaST/db/steelSections.mdb"));
    //create an output stream for the db file on the file system
    OutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(efile));
    //-Buffer to copy the data
    byte[] buffer = new byte[2048]; //buffer to copy the binary
    for (;;) {
    int nBytes = in.read(buffer); //read data
    if (nBytes <= 0)
    break; //no more data to read
    out.write(buffer, 0, nBytes); //write data
    out.flush(); //close out and in streams
    out.close();
    in.close();
    If you have the db file in an other jar archive file you need a referenze to the entry in the other jar archive. I'm not sure how to get this, but I'm sure you fill find a solution by searching in this forum...
    Good luck!
