Inventory planning in SEM

Hi Gurus,
I am currently working on Merchanidse and Assortment Planning(MAP), used in Retail industry. I am using NW2004s-BI( BI7) and ECC6. I am doing planning for inventory.
As quite a few of you may be aware, Non-cummulative key figures like stock (e.g. key figure 0CPTOTSTOBU) cannot be used in transactional cubes ( or Real-time info-providers). There is a specific functionality developed to read actual stock ( which is a non-cumulative key figure) from basic info-cube into planning info-cube. This is done using a planning function of type EXIT and uses function modules UPARA_EXIT_COPY_ACTUALS and UPARA_EXIT_INIT_COPY_ACTUALS.
Has anyone done inventory planning in Merchanidse and Assortment Planning (MAP) or SEM-BPS or BW-BPS? Have you seen any how to...document around this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Atul

Hi Raj,
We consider line item detail level planning, the ability to plan at a granular/detailed level for the same set of keys and the addition of a text field 'Detail' greater than 60 characters. See the following example for details.
What planners have today: (SEM-BPS high level planning)
Company code, Cost Center, Cost Element, Version, FY, Period, Amount
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $10,000
What planners would like to have: (Line item detail level planning)
Company code, Cost Center, Cost Element, Version, FY, Period, Amount, Detail
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $2,000, Materials for house on the beach
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $3,000, Direct labour for the next 06 months
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $5,000, Interest and payments in lieu of taxes
The business requirement sees line item detail level planning incorporated to SEM-BPS. As I said, I do not intend to break the barriers between OLTP and OLAP systems, but would like to learn more about how others dealt with this requirement.
Thanks and regards,
Cassio Bastos

  • BI Integerated planning and SEM-BPS ???

    Hi all ,
      I am new to SEM.
    Could you tell me
    1) if there's any difference between Bi integeraed planning and SEM-BPS ?
    2) if so, what are those differences ? & which one is better suited to planning needs ?.
    3) also can we use planning areas developed in bw-bps ???
Friends if you have any documentation  for the practical part of SEM-bps
could you please send it to [email protected]
    thanks in advance

    Hello together,
BI-IP is under contruction and wil be replaced later instead of BW-BPS. For the mean time BW-BPS will exist parallel.
    Further details see here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b87271fb-0701-0010-00bd-b03502b8c011
This is the theorie. In the praxis there are big differences and BI-IP is in a "very eraly stage", you should have at least SP 10, better wait for 12 to able to have at least the most important functionalities in BI-IP.
    e. g. you can not plan on hierarchy nodes (e. g. you dont have standard distribute function to distribute from # in a query). This is available from SP12. And so on....

  • Data in aggregates not updated after planning in SEM-BPS cubes

We are running BW 3.0B SP27 with SEM-BPS. Our database is DB/2. When users modify plan data on planning layouts, the data in the cube and the aggregates can become inconsistent.
For example, when a user runs a report that uses an aggregate, they get one number, but when they add a drilldown that causes the report to bypass the aggregate and hit the cube directly, the number will be different. The only way to fix this is to deactivate and then reactivate the aggregate that has stale data.
We've tried opening an OSS message, but that hasn't been helpful, since we aren't able to reliably reproduce the problem. Sometimes the aggregates are fine, other times the data will be stale.
We roll up aggregates in the SEM cubes at the end of each business day. We include a request ID filter for "most current data" (0S_RQMRC) in all our SEM queries, so the queries should be bringing in data from the latest open request in addition to the data in the relevant aggregate.
What causes this, and how can we fix it without manually reactivating aggregates?
    Thanks,
    Jason

is the request still open. close the request and then probably the aggregates will start..

  • Inventory Status of Bin not correct = Planned after counts (LAGP-IVIVO)

    Dear Warehousers,
We are in an IS-Retail environment, release 470,
We create our inventory count documents with LX16
When completing our counting process with clearing the documents with
LI20 and LI21 the following status issue has occurred.
All the bins of one cleared document display the following status in
LS03n and LS03: L (cleared) but at the same time the yellow triangle
signals that the status is Inventory Planned (LAGP-IVIVO). This status
    also shows at LX25
We have not encountered this issue before. New putaway is possible, but new are counts not, even though there is no document active or planned.
    Has anyone had this issue?

    Hi
It sounds like ypou are using continous inventory and this process expects you to count all bins before you count any bins again.
However in LX16 on the front screen there is a that says 'only bins not yet counted' Take this tick off as you are creating the count document and it wil let you count whatever you want when you want.
    I hope that thus helps

  • [Schema Design]: How to reduce inventory snapshot table size

We are planning to store inventory level's periodic snapshot at the end of each day. We have close to 50k different products.
But on a given day only 5-6k products inventory changes.
As I understand if I start inserting just the products which have changed inventory, analysis around semi-additive dimension (Quantity) doesn't work properly.
For better understanding, lets take say the fact table looks like:
    product_id     time_id     quantity
    1                         1             100
    2                         1             130
    3                         1             100
    1                         30           200
So basically, it says product 1,2,3 from time_id 1 to time_id 29 doesn't have any update in quantity. But product_id 1's inventory changes to 200 on time_id 30.
This approach reduces fact table size by approx 90 rows.
My question is, is it a good idea? Would this semi-additive dimension still give the same result (I doubt though)?
If not, then what other approaches I can take?
    Thanks in advance.

Another option is to capture just the net changes (sometimes referred to as a journalized fact table). Then you can create a calculated measure that sums all the changes from the beginning of time up to the current time-slice.
This may seem like an inefficient solution, but there are ways to reduce the problem by limiting the history for which inventory snapshots are available. For example, if the business only needs snapshots for the past 90 days, then you can grab a snapshot
of inventory for all products on day 0, and then capture the net changes for each product for days 1-90. Then you can calculate the snapshot in time by adding the baseline snapshot to the sum of all net changes.

    Hello Support,
We are using SAP CRM 5.0 SP09 with BW 7.0 SP 09.
When creating an opportunity in CRM, the product data ( quantity ,
values) are not appearing in Planning tab( SEM-BPS Layout) .
Kindly let us know what needs to be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and regards,

In your CRM system, check your mapping from CRM to BW are correct.
You can do this in transaction SPRO. Menu path 'SAP Implementation Guide --> Integration with other mySAP components --> SEM --> Change mapping between CRM fields and InfoObjects'. Select planning application 'OPP' and click on 'Mapping table - system entries' on the left.
In here you should see the mapping from the InfoObject to the CRM field (eg. Infoobject 0CRM_EXPREV uses structure CRM_BW_OPPT_H and field name EXP_REVENUE).
In order for the value to be passed to planning you must tick the 'Empty' checkbox on.

    Hi,

  • Planning on Non Cumulative KF

    Hi,
I have to do inventory planning. For that I have to use Inventory Cube (0IC_C3) info cube.
Now I have to use 0valstckval KF for the Plannig Purpose.
When I am creating an Agregation level on 0ic_c03 info cube it is throwing an error specifying that "Info provider contains non-cumulative KF".
So it is not allowing to create me aggregation level.
How can I use this cube for planning.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

    Hi Andrey,
    Thanks for the reply.
I created one cumulative key figure and add that to inventory cube.
Now, 0valstckval is dependent on 0ISSVS_VAL and 0RECVS_VAL.
So in transformation formula I took the diiference Receipt and Issue.
So, It will give me value in cumulative KF which I created right?
But My question is, how can I get correct Opening Stock in that cumulative KF.
As much I know Current Stock = Opening Stock + Receipt - Issue.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

Can someone please tell me the setup steps of reorder point planning and forecast sets..
I hav seen the documentation but am complete lost
    Need ur help!
    Emm

    Hi Emm,
    1. Create an item for which the inventory planning method should be reorder point planning along with that provide the minmum order quantity & maximu ordered quantity and the Source type should be supplier.
    2. Navigate to > planning > forecasts > Sets: to define the Forecast Quantity. ( First Forecast Set, then Forecast Line, then Forecast Items > inside this define the forecast quantity.
    3. Define the safety stock by navigating to Planning > Safety Stocks .
    4. Then submit the reorder point planning with parameters as restock – yes and name of your forecast.
