Inventory Roll-up ZfD 3.2 Sp1

I will try not to make this wordy, but I am including details so
responedents don't just throw out have you tried this.
I have walked into a situation were the client has created DBs on each
leaf server. Prior to the server being a leaf w/DB it was a stand alone
w/DB. My trouble is that all the workstaions in the leaf are not
populated in the root. I have verified the last register time of each
imported workstation object. I have also verified that it has an .STR
file. I have verified my my roll-up policy. I made sure that the
roll-up ocurrs at night. The ramdom tick box is unchecked. I saw a TID
somewhere about it causing. The ENTMERGEDB directory fills up daily
with scan records. The intermediates ENTPUSHDB directory gets zip files
from all leafs. All my log state that roll-up is succesful to
intermediate and the intermediate updated the root. If I compare my
imported workstaion objects with the local DB it is correct. When I go
to the root and run a report for just a particular site the numbers
don't match. According to what I am seeing I am missing about 40% of my
workstations in the root DB. Last week I updated the root and
intermediate with SP3. They are local.
Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone have the exact sequence on how the
leaf updates the root? Why isn't there a utility that allows me to
connect to a leaf or intermediate DB and do a send data now.
Oh all the logs in the sys:\pulblic\zenworks\wminv\ whatever\whatever (I
am at home and can't remeber the rest of the path) show no time out
erros or connection errors.

Frank,
Thanks for the info. I believe that I hase soled the issue. AS I
suppected, the Root DB is only updated when there is a change to the
Leaf. Because the client started off the Leaf as a Stand Alone server,
all workstations need to be rebooted to force a scan for delta info.
The change is then made in the Leaf and forwarded to the Root. I have
checked the "Scan Status" on the workstations not found in the Root and
found that they all are scan dates prior to the server change. Now I
just need everyone to reboot their workstations.
For all of those who may look at this thread, unless it is absolutely
necessary, do not create local DBs. It only makes troubleshooting that
much more difficult. If the server abends hard also you need to
re-install the local DB.

  • OPM Inventory Roll Forward Report

    Hello All:
My Plant controller is asking for an Inventory Roll Forward report in OPM 11.5.10
At the high level, this is what he is asking for :
For the quarters under examination, obtain and test or perform an overall "rollforward" of inventory units (i.e., beginning inventory plus production plus returns less sales and plus or minus inventory adjustments equals ending
    inventory).
I am planning to build a custom report using information based in ic_tran_pnd and ic_tran_cmp tables.
I wanted to know, Is there a "standard" Report in OPM that is available to give this information or anything close enough that I can use a starting point to build the above Report?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
*"Daily Transaction Detail Report"* in OPM inventory responsibility can be the basis on which you can build on the "running stock balance report". Of course, inclusion of ic_perd_bal would make sense for the opening balance.
Rather, you can even build "Projected Stock Balance report", in case you have procurement plans (PR/PO) –-- inflow and projected requirements --- outflow, is in place.
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgraded from ZFD3.2 SP3 - ZFD 6.5 SP1, can't store inventory

I've recently upgraded my test server from ZFD 3.2 SP3 running on Netware
OES (NW 6.5.3 w/eDir 8.7.3.5). Everything appears to be working except
inventory. When it goes to store the .STR file, it give the following
error - Storer: started storing ....
Error in parsing xxxx.str due to other exception.
Storer: Full scan will be initiated.
We have tried it from a XP SP1 workstation running Novell Client 4.90 SP2
and from a workstion with both Novell Client 4.90 SP2 and the ZFD Mgmt
Agent. Both give the same results.
Have recreated the workstation inventory policy and deleted all workstation
objects. Newly imported workstations still give the error.
Inventory is not getting stored in the database. Any ideas?

  • Intallation is being rolled back post deploying the SP1

Trying to deploy SP1 across all win 7 systems. It's being successfully installed when PCs are not in domain but for Domain joined system it's being rolled back post initial installation and reboot. Please help me do get rid of this issue.

    Hello Tech Olive,
What do you mean of the sentence ‘for Domain joined system it's being rolled back post initial installation and reboot’? the domain-joined systems keep roll back to install the Windows 7 service package 1?
How do you deploy the Windows 7 service package 1?
Do you receive any error messages in the domain-joined Windows 7?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Check if we can install the Service Package manually.
    2. As you mentioned that only domain-joined computer can't normally install the Windows 7 service package 1. I think it is related to domain setting. Please confirm with the domain administrator to check if there are group policy or setting to block the
    installation

I am getting a similar error, although I have Netware 6.5 SP7 and ZFD 7.0 SP1 - this started after upgrading to SP7 and SP1...
Were you ever able to find a fix?

  • Inventory problems

When workstations register and try to do an inventory these are the
    error
    messages they get.
Scanner(Warning) : 027: Unable to read the sequence number from the
    Workstation Object.
Scanner(Warning) : 021: Unable to access the Custom Scan file.
Inventory is setup as a system startup event in the worstation policy,
    I
have it set to the proper and only invantory database and the sql
    database
    is running.
What else should I be looking for?

Mind if I chime in here. I've been working a similar problem and had
    the
luxury of a Novell ZEN support guy on site for a couple of days.
First, check that the settings in the zenwsimport.ncf are set as
    below:
    Load Java
    envset
    zenAWSClassPath=sys:java\njclv2\lib\jndi.jar;sys:j ava\njclv2\lib\njclv2.jar;
    sys:java\lib\zenWSDel.jar;sys:java\lib\zenCommon.j ar;sys:java\lib\zenWS.jar;
    sys:java\lib\autoWSManagement.jar
    java -classpath
    $zenAWSClassPath;$CLASSPATH -jszenWSImp
    -Dlogfile=vol1:zenworks\zenwsimp.log
    -Dlogfilelevel=3 -Dloglevel=3 -ns
    com.novell.application.zenworks.autowsmanagement.w simport.ImportWorkstations
    "TREENAME" "INVENTORYSERVERNAME.OU.OU.O"
Also, you can do verbose logging on the server. this is set in
    tracerfilter.properties under sys:\public\zenworks\wminv\properties.
    Set
    them as below:
    ;*default*=BRIEF
*default*=DEBUG5 - This sets verbos logging
Then you can also set the number and size of logs in
    tracerfiles.properties.
    Ihave mine set as follows:
    sloader= 200; 3
    zenworksinvservice= 1000;50 (50 logs 1Mb in size)
This lead to me finding several workstations with a WMI problem. A
    search
in the relevant log gave me the following error:
"Could not process .STR_filename due to a non-Integer insertion for
    CIM_class_name.attribute_name"
A search on that in the KB pointed me to the Zenworks 3.2
    documentation as
    follws:
The ZfD 3.2 SP1 Inventory server deletes the .STR files and triggers a
    full
scan. The following message is displayed: "Could not process
    ..STR_filename
    due to a non-Integer insertion for CIM_class_name.attribute_name"
Explanation: You might encounter this error for any attribute of a
    CIM
    class such as CIM.Processor.Family.
Possible Cause: The .STR file is for a Windows 98 (and not Windows 98
    SE)
workstation, which has the default version of WMI installed. The
    default
version of WMI is not compatible with ZfD 3.2 SP1.
Action: You can update to correct WMI version by downloading
    Microsoft's
Windows Management Instrumentation - Core Software Installation from
    Microsoft WMI Web site.
    Hope this helps some.

  • Old Inventory

I have a machine that was removed from the network almost 2 months ago. It
was not removed from the inventory database automatically, so I tried to do
it using the "Inventory Removal" process... editing the text file and then
running "StartSer RemoveInventory" with no luck. The workstation inventory
has been removed around 15 times, but it is still there.
I have the inventory sync setup and it works correctly. Other workstations
are removed successfully, but not this one.
Anyone have any pointers short of reinstalling the Inventory database? I
really DON'T want to do that.
    Thanks,
    Pat.

Forgot to mention. Running ZfD 6.5 SP1. Server is NW 6.5 SP3.

  • Recommended JVM Version for ZfS 6.5 SP1 on NetWare 6 SP5 w/NCS

Quick question - what is the recommended version of the NetWare JVM to use
    with ZfS 6.5 SP1? I'm running NW6SP5, ZfS65 with SP1 applied, and Tomcat
3.3. Right now I'm using JVM 1.4.2_6 and just wanted to verify there are no
known issues with JVM 1.4.2_6 playing well with ZfS 6.5 SP1. Running on on

for HA inventory services. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Ron,
Thanks for the general advice. That's what I thought, but sometimes we
all need a sanity check. Especially when you see java thread death
messages when the distributor starts up :-) Not due to the JVM.

  • Inventory Control of new houses (construction and sale)

    Colleagues,
Need  information about controlling inventory of new homes, the business process is from the construction and sale, but using the traditional solution of SAP ECC 6.0, not  EC&O
    Thanks

it sounds like you have a slow database server, or one that is sending the
data over a WAN link. When you deleted the database, it had to recover all
the information in the STR files. Normally, delta scans are done every day
or so to see if anyting has changed, and then a full scan every five days.
I would bump this up to 20 since usually there very few workstations that
    will need a full scan.
For you boss, I would suggest that you nicely inform him that the inventory
pulled by ZfD is at least 80% accurate but never 100%. If you have a
workstation that is not being scanned, registered, imported, etc.. you are
likely to miss it. How do you account for the WS Removal policy which will
pull out inventory when the machine is not registered for "x" days. If
anything, use the ZfD inventory as a backup for internal components only.

  • SP1 fixes what isn't broken?

Nice job Novell! I was working with ZfD 3.2 perfectly fine... without
problems. One day, I decided I would like to upgrade to ZfD 3.2 SP1
    to
see if the imaging boot cd perhaps had some new and improved network drivers (it didn't), and, lo and behold, my remote control no longer works! Any time I log into a workstation and do something such as
    launch
Outlook Express or open the Control Panel, the remote agent freezes.
    Re-
opening the workstation renders only a blank gray screen, or no
    response
    at all.
Fantastic! I will be re-installing the original ZfD 3.2 files this
    afternoon after everyone goes home.

I found the problem. For some reason a graphics file called
    hook16.dll
was causing the freeze-ups. I deleted the file from all my computers,
    and
    it works fine.
As for client-side installs, I haven't had the time to run that
    install on
the 477 computers I am responsible for. Running the client-side
    install
did not fix the problem when I tested it on an individual workstation.

  • Minimal Information not there

Hello, I've been trying out Workstation Inventory in our test lan and
I just about have it going. The only problem I'm having right now is
Minimal Information is not showing up in Workstation Object. I am
interested in the inventory of course but the main thing I'm shooting
for right now is to touch the workstations once so I can use WUOL
Viewing WS object properties, ZenWorks inventory tab:
    Minimal information shows NO information
Click More information reveals scan was successful with fully
    populated w/ Hardware, Software etc..
    Scan Status reports nothing (bad)
    C:\Winnt\Temp\Zenerrors.log reveals:ZENWorks 5 Inventory Status Log
    File.

Ganesh thanks for replying and the pertinent link. You are correct
sir, I finally realized that -608 was a NDS errorcode. So a followed a trail
of TIDs 10013712 and 10054738 that implied that I may have missing
attributes in the schema, when I checked the Workstation Class in the ConsoleOne
Schema manager I did have some Zen:Inv attributes missing. Those TID's
recommended further that I try extending the schema manually, which I
did and got a Time not synchronized error, which suggested the schema had
future time stamps which I verified I had with DSBrowse. The CTS's
were thirty years in the future. So then another TID 10068425 suggested I
declare a new schema epoch which I did per TID 10066252 which fixed
the timestamps. (We had declared a new epoch a while back to fix a
future time problem so this was no shocker, but we had never declared a new
    schema epoch)
I reinstalled Zfd3.2, and zfd 3.2 SP1 and recieved no schema update
errors in the log file, which I had been having a problem with, but was
thinking the errors were "normal" if zfd had been installed once and the schema
had been already extended. Anyhoo, after installation, I checked the
schema and it had indeed been extended.
After that Minimal Info was inserted into the NDS Workstation Objects
and all is golden. Well, except for the WUOL feature which works, but only
if the ACPI WOL setting is set to Power On (Its apparently Stay Off by fault...) so now I need to figure out a way to change the WOL
setting for 400 systems. This BIOS (Intel board) has two WOL settings one
which is on by default, but is apparently ignored if shutdown by an ACPI OS,
and then the one in the ACPI section which is off by default. Doh!
    Thanks again.

  • BSOD on XP with Zenworks and Symantec Endpoint Protection

After upgrading to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) we are getting Blue Screen after imaging.
We have SEP included in our image and after pushing the image to another computer, we instantly get a BSOD, when trying to boot up the newly imaged machine:
    *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x8A4B0DE8,0xC0000102,0x00000000)
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
For test purpose I have tried doing the imaging job with Ghost 2003. This works perfectly, so I guess it is the combination of SEP and ZfD that is causing the problem. If I exclude SEP from the image, imaging with ZfD works fine. Imaging with Symantec antivirus ver. 10 also works perfect.
Anyone out there running ZfD and SEP 11?
    Environtment:
    Windows XP SP3
    ZfD 7.01 sp1 ir1 running on Netware 6.5
Symantec Enpoint Protection 11.0.3001.2224 (getting the same error with 11.0.2010.25)

There should an updated patch for ZDM7 available withing a few days. (ZDM7
    SP1 IR3A HP1.)
I would strongly suggest testing with the updated files when they are
    released.
The is a much newer Linux Kernal starting with IR3A which could effect your
    problem.
If you are still seeing an issue, I would suggest opening a ticket with
    Novell.
Unless somebody here happened to have a copy of SEP, helping here would be
    tough.
But I have not heard of this issue myself, but anything is possible.

  • Question about Workstation Performance during Scanning

I am looking for information about workstation performace during
    scanning
for inventory. My management wants information on impact before I can
implement the service in our environment. We do have a very wide
    array of
    computers. Anything from Win95 P200 to Win2k/XP P4 3Ghz. Can anyone
    point me
    in the right direction?

    Inventory is minimal.
The first scan takes the most performance. On a p200 we are talking
about 5 minutes with little or no performance hit.
After that, only changes are sent to the server.
I wasn't able to find any doc that talked about performance, but you
can read about inventory in the ZFD documentation.
    Hope that helps.

  • Nalntsrv and winxp sp2

    Hi There
I have intermittent problem with nalntsrv service. Users receive error
message "Problem: Application Launcher NT Service was not found to run
the application as system user." So those applications run as insecure
users will not work. Under task manager, the service is there!
Sometime, reboot helps to make that service runs properly. Sometime,
support staff has to run "nalntsrv install start" to get it running.
Sometime, Novell client has to be reinstalled.
Our servers are running NW6 SP4 and ZfD 3.2 Sp1. Our PCs are running
    WinXP SP2 and Novell client 4.9 SP2.
    Any clue, please?
    Matthias

  • Re: remote control pressing lower case 'e' launches explorer

I have typically seen this kind of behavior when the user has a stuck
    key on
the keyboard, in this instance, it looks like the user has a stuck
    Windows
key. Have them unplug the keyboard and then re-establish your session.

Actually, it's doing it on all machines, we are on ZFD 3.2 sp1. We
    also
have a mix of Win9x/NT/2000. Originally, the keyboard function did
    not
work at all until we upgraded to ZFD sp1. Now it works, but, it seems
like the windows system key is "stuck" in the keyboard buffer or
something. So if you have notepad or wordpad open and you type "e" an
explorer window pops up rather than the "e" actually getting typed. Strange huh? we tried to enable/disable the system key pass through to
    no
    avail.
    Thanks for the quick response
