Inventory windows 95/98 workstation

We 've juste install ZFD 4.01 and we would like to inventory our windows
95/98 workstation, but it don't work.
How to do this with ZFD 4.01 ?

umm... you've asked this in the zen3x inventory forum, but if you're
talking about w98 not w98SE, then I guess that this is the right place.
The ONLY way this can be done is if you install ZfD3.2 and upgrade to
ZfD4.x from there

  • Windows 8.1 workstation issues

    Hi
I have a new Windows 8.1 workstation connecting to OES 2 SP1 servers using Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows 8 (IR5). A couple of questions:
    1. It appears that the client masks local administrator accounts at login. How are people dealing with single sign-on for administrators that want to have local admin rights and also admin rights on the server they are connecting to?
    2. The client appears to connect to the server (logging in as Admin) but in windows explorer all mapped drives indicate that they are "disconnected" with red "x" but when you click on the drive you have access to the folders & files on the server.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks,

It appears that this trick no longer works.
Maybe a future update to the client will address it but I wouldn't hold
    my breath.
    From the SP3 'Known Issues'
4.6 Mapped Drive Icon Doesn’t Update on Re-Authentication
When you detach from a mapped Novell drive, the mapped drive icon displayed
in Windows Explorer changes to a red X to indicate that the mapped drive is
no longer accessible. If you use the Red N icon to re-authenticate to the
Novell tree (and you selected the Check to always map this drive letter when
you start Windows option when you originally mapped the drive), the mapped
drive icon does not update to show that the drive is accessible again.
However, as you can see, it just gives up from the get go right now.

  • Inventory doesn't remove workstation

    Hi,
I have zenworks 4.0.1 with Sybase, but now I have a lot of workstations
that now they aren't in the NDS, and I want to remove them. I know that
we can't remove these workstations manually, but I try to follow the
steps that I've seen in the knowledge database, but I can't. I think that
I'm doing something wrong. Could anybody guide me?
    Thanks

Ok, you are right, but I have the same problem. I open
    \\Nwzen\DATOS\ZENworks\Inv\server\WmInv\properties \InventoryRemoval.propet
    ies and I write FilePath=DATOS:ZENworks/Inv/server/WmInv/properties/
then I write on the Server Console startser NDSLookupForDB and then it
    writes:
    startser NDSLookupForDB
    InvEnv.NCF
    Loading module JAVA.NLM [Not Multiple]
    InvEnvSet
After that, it switchs to ZENworks Workstaion Import windows, and I check
that there is a file in
    \\Nwzen\DATOS\ZENworks\Inv\server\WmInv\properties called
DeleteWSList.txt which is empty (0 Kb)
    What am I making wrong?

  • Inventory scan slows the workstation down

    Hi,
we use zfd 4 since more than 3 years. (server 5.1SP8 with ZFD 4IR7)
The inventory runs fine before we have begun to install all the Windows
    XP patches.
We tried many netware client and zfd client versions. But the
ntscan32.exe needs now more than 10 minutes to scan our workstations
(new hardware DELL Latitude D-Series). During this time you cannot work
with this workstations, even it is a full or differential scan.
We play a little with the inventory policies, but nothing helps. Policy
is configured to run on system start with software and hardware scan.
    Any ideas?

no, but we found the problem:
We have about 48 application objects with XP patches and every
application has its own dependencies. It seems that the checking of
these dependencies simultaneously to the inventory scan causes the slow
downs. After we have deleted the associations to the workstation
    objects everything looks like before.
Now we think the NAL has some problems to work with complex
    dependencies.

  • Need help with roaming user profiles, home folder on server - symptoms after Windows reinstall on workstation

Hello. I have deployed roaming user profiles in our home office. We are using Windows Server 2012 on our datacenter computer, which has a partition with all our home directories. All was working beautifully for quite some time.
I re-installed Windows 8.1 Pro on my laptop. I am able to log in to my profile from the new installation.
The problem that has started happening seems to be some sort of permission problem with my home directory, but I am not sure how to go about diagnosing it. I haven't changed anything in the policies or remote profiles.
    The symptoms:
When I try to run an installation program from my documents/downloads/desktop (remote) folders, UAC asks for the administrative credentials as expected, and then I am asked to enter my user credentials. If I do so, I sometimes get a message about duplicate
connections to a share, and the installation program does not execute. "Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or
shared resource and try again." I am confused, because I am entering credentials for the same user name as the one I am logged in with.
To work around, I have to copy the executable to a folder on my workstation hard drive and run it from there.
Another symptom is when I download anything from the internet, chrome will reflect a "Failed - Download error" message with the download. If I re-attempt the same download several times, eventually it will succeed. This appears to be due to my
downloads folder being on the remote computer.
I am looking for any guidance on how to remedy these symptoms. I suspect there must be a setting I have forgotten to change in the local computer, because nothing has changed on the server since it was operating properly.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Standalone inventory possible on individual workstations?

We've been using Zenworks Inveontory for some time, and for remote
    inventory
it does a good job. However, I'm now running into a situation where
    we
need to be able to do "standalone" inventories, i.e. run an inventory
    on a
machine that, for one reason or another, cannot be registered or
    imported
into our Zenworks database, or maybe not even remotely accessed.
I know there are many 3rd party software utilities that will do this -
    you
run a small executible on the workstation from a floppy or removeable
    media,
and it reports the info back to a destination of your choosing. What
    I'm
wondering is if Zenworks has a component that could be used for this
    type of
    functionality.
I did find this in a cool solutions page, but I don't necessarily need
    to
import the info into Zenworks - I just need to run an inventory on a
    "non-connected" machine.
    "Inventory of Non-Connected Machines
Question: Peter H. wrote: We're about to implement ZENworks 3.0 in mycompany, and are looking forward to it.
We have approximately 300 machines which will be imported into our
    ZENworks
database. We also have 50 machines which are placed at our employees'
    homes,
and these machines are not connected to the network.
We have the idea that ZENworks is going to be our system to maintain a
    list
of what equipment our users have, both in the office and at home.
Is it possible to make an inventory of a machine and then import it
    into
    ZENworks?
Answer: This is in ZfD4, which will be releasing very soon. "
Any ideas of using Zen 3.2 to run a "non-connected" inventory?

  • Inventory Scans Slow down Workstation

I'm running ZfD 3.2 and have the inventory policy set to to scan machines
once a day at 'Below Normal' priority. When inventory runs, workstations
bog-down, not due to the inventory scanner process, but because the
workstation's virus scan sofware scans the files as they are opened by
the scanner. The workstation virus scnan software is McAffee VSE 7.1.
Has anyone found a way to disable virus scanning while inventory is
running and re-enable it when the scan is finished? There isn't any
option on the inventory scheduler to run a pre or post execution script.
    Thanks.
    Pete

No, not that I am aware of. What happens if you choose a higher
priority ? Does it change anything ?

  • Inventory Sync deleted ALL workstations!!!

Background: ZFD4 w/ SP1b Inv database (was upgraded from ZFD32)
Our INV database had approximately 2100 workstations inventoried in it, some
of which were workstation objects that had since been deleted so I wanted
them out of the DB. I unloaded and loaded the inventory service, as
mentinoed in teh TID in order for the STABLE.SER file to be updated. I then
setup the sync schedule to run and let it do its thing.
After running, I now have 120 workstations in my inventory DB.
Where did all off my workstation objects go?? Do I now have to wait for the
DB to re-populate as machines are re-inventoried?
    This is quite frustrating!!!

Question would have been why the sync service thinks you have "wrong"
workstations in your DB. To answer that we would have need to look at
the debug file while the sync service runs.
Are you making backups from your database ?
You can just restore the files.

  • Reinstall Windows 8 on workstation with no recovery media and new hard drive.

Hello. I am needing help with a specific request.
We have a workstation what is running Windows 8. The hard drive failed. The machine has no recovery media that was created, however it is orderable through HP.
With that in mind, where are the tools for IT Pros to reinstall Windows 8 from .ISO or USB media, as we could do in Windows 7 and previous versions?
Windows 8 keeps the license key stored in the BIOS from what I read, and one option is using an .ISO for Windows 8 from an MSDN account. The install will scan the BIOS for the key, find it, and will activate Windows 8.
We are Silver Partner. currently we are turning people away or telling them they must have their Factory Recovery Media for us to reinstall Windows 8 after hard drive failures, since we cannot find any .ISO available, and there is no plain Product Key on
    the machine.

    Hi ,
"one option is using an .ISO for Windows 8 from an MSDN account."I am afraid it will not work.
The copy of Windows that the OEM installs on a computer is valid only on that unique computer, so it can only be reinstalled and reactivated from the OEM-provided recovery media on that computer. So
I am afraid an .ISO for Windows 8 from an MSDN account won`t be activated automatically.

1.I agree with britishdhez, the best way to solved this issue is contactting the manufacture for a recovery media.

  • Crystal Reports - Windows 7 (64bit workstation)

I am ashamed to admit I have been searching through these forums for a solid few hours and cant find a complete answer. Can someone please help out?
Im trying to find out specifically what versions of CR are supported on a Windows 7 64bit client. What I have seen so far is
    CR 2008 SP2
    CR CI R2 SP6
Im not sure if it makes a difference if it is:
    CR Professional 2008 or
CR 2008 Visual Advantage - (this looks to include XCelsius a SQL Server Reporting Services like tool (?))
I also couldnt find out if this is current, will others work even though they arent supported, etc. (Many products we have been able to make work with little effort.)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks. LK

    Hi,
Google will be of much help in this instance.  Try typed in "supported platform for Crystal report".
Have a look at the link below, which you will need to be able to access SAP Network Community to access.

  • Help with Access connecting to a Oracle DB on a Windows 7-64bit workstation

    Hello:
    Here's my configuration:
    OS: Windows 7-64bit
    Oracle DBMS: 11g
I am trying to connect to a 11g DB from within Access.
I launched the ODBC Administrator from c:\windows\syswow64 directory as an Administrator (which I undertstand is the 32-bit version). When I tried to set up a new DSN, I encountered two problems:
    1. The TNS Service Name dropdown has a slew of entries with funny characters. However, it did not include my TNS Entry.
    2.  I manually entered my TNSName. It did ask me for the username and password. When I tested the connection, I got an error "ORA-12154"
Any help to resolve the issue will be much appreciated.

    Senthil:
    What should it point to?
Anyway, I re-installed both the 64-bit Oracle DB and the 32-bit client. There are two sets of TNSNames.Ora, Listener.Ora and SQLNet.ora, one for the 64-bit and one for the 32-bit in their respective folders.
I have no problem creating an ODBC DSN for the 64-bit version. The link connects fine to the DB
I have two TNS Listeners defined, one for the 64-bit and one for the 32-bit. While the 64-bit uses Port 1521, I am using Port 1522 for the 32-bit; I also made sure that Listener.ora refers to the same port. But when I use Oracle Net Configuration Assistant to configure Local Net Service Name Configuration to test the Service, it says "TNS:listener does not currently know of the service requested in connect descriptor.
I did check that both the TNS Listener services are running.

    Hi Maurice,
    >>The Group Policy Client Side Extension Folder Redirection was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup
    or user logon.
By default, fast logon optimization feature is enabled, and this event is normal when we apply Folder Redirection policy setting. Here, we can try to logon and logoff twice continuously to see if the folders can be redirected, or we can try to enable the
following policy setting to see if it helps:
