Inverse / reverse pen pressure settings?

There have been a topic about this basic setting back in 2009.
Is it still imposibble to achive a setting with wacom pen tablet to draw at full brush size with minimum pressure, and to make precise, small size brush strokes with harder pressure?!
If it is still imposibble in a leadership software, the drawer has to push the pen all the way down in 95% of the work process, and lighter for the rest 5%... It should be reversable on the brush panel!

Just had a look round.  I found the thread from 2009 where Chris Cox said it was on their to-do list, but AFAIK that has not been actioned yet.  I also had a look at the table properties, and Wacom forums, but nothing their either.
So all in all, it's yet another feature that Lazy Nezumi Pro has managed to add to pen tablets.  Guillaume (the man behind LNP) is a one man tour de force who never stops improving his product, and you get all those updates for ever once you buy the plugin.
A little story...
I was working on Christmas day — my wife was on duty at the hospital and there are few things I like more than messing with Photoshop — but ran into difficulty with LNP because its panel was off my screen.  Nothing I tried could fix it, so out of desperation I used the chat feature on the LNP site, and surprise surprise, Guillaume was also working on Christmas day.  He spent the next 15 minutes helping me fix, before, no doubt, going back to adding yet more value to LNP.
In case anyone ever has this happen to a multi screen Windows 7 system (these criteria were all instrumental to the cause). Go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lazy Nezumi\Lazy nezumi Pro\MainWindow
And change the value for point to @Point(0 0)
It will have a minus value if you have the problem.

  • Reverse Pen Pressure Effect.

the default makes perfect sense, but i'd like an option to reverse pen pressure per effect. for example for opacity, i would like no pressure to = full opacity and lot's of pressure to = no opacity, etc. that particular setting plus size pressure control would produce a thin dark brush stroke to a transparent large brush stroke. it would simply be awesome! ... and useful.

I think Gabriel's comment was missing a question mark. It seems to me he was more asking a question than making a statement that it should be easy.
As for me, I will continue to *guess* what's easy and what isn't because I think it's fun! And regardless of whether it's easy or not, this is a feature request forum for both easy requests and hard requests. Adobe should be thankful there are so many people willing to spare their valued time to submit feature requests at all! It's all about making a better product.
That said, feature requests like this this particular request *should* be relatively easy. If it's not, it probably has more to do with a weak foundation. Surely, it has to be easier than creating an entirely new tool!

  • Photoshop Pen Pressure Issues

I'm not actually sure that this is the correct place to post this. I don't have a question per se, as I've fixed the problem, but I would like to address an issue with Photoshop and my pen tablet and hopefully help others who might have the same problems. I recently built a new computer and, upon installing my Wacom Bamboo and Photoshop, found myself unable to use the pen pressure settings in Photoshop, which had previously worked just fine on my old machine. I tried everything I could find on the web to fix the problem: reinstalling the tablet drivers, installing old driver versions, turning on and off various settings, nothing worked, when finally I stumbled across a post by someone who offhandedly mentioned that they started Photoshop with their pen, instead of their mouse, and that their pressure settings worked just fine. I was kinda skeptical that such a trivial-seeming thing could be the fix, but I tried it, and lo and behold, it worked! If anyone here knows why I'd be interested in knowing, just for the sake of curiosity, but I hope this simple fix can save some time and frustration for other users.

Photoshop CC 2014 changes stylus use to use Microsoft system API's, with these API's you need to have Windows Ink enabled. These API's give better stroke results and improve the out of the box experience for users using Windows tablet/convertible devices. If you want to go back to the old WinTab implementation of previous versions do the following:
Create a file that contains instructions to revert to the WinTab functionality.
Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
    Type in the following lines:
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\.
To turn off the gestalt's functionality, delete the PSUSerConfig.txt file. Or, move it to a different folder if it doesn't contain any other commands, or change the lines so they read:
    # Use Win8 native tablet support
    UseSystemStylus 1

  • Wacom pen pressure sensitivity with PS elements 9

I was just using the free trial with CS6 and was able to get  it to ignore the pen pressure sensitivity, so that it was the same size no matter how hard i pressed down. In elements I'm having a hard time in getting it to ignore the pressure sensitivity. I have the pen settings in the wacom software on the softer side so you dont have to press down hard to get the full size of the brush in photoshop, but when I go to test it out in PS it doesnt ignore the pressure.
Im using it on windows 7.
    Any ideas?

With the Brush Tool selected in pse 9 did you look at the settings for the graphics tablet?
It's a small arrow as in the screenshot below to reveal the popup menu to set the pressure options.
Since you posted in the full photoshop forum you might post over in the photoshop elements forum if the above doesn't work:

  • Pen Pressure not working in Photoshop CS5.1

    Hello,
I've looked at a lot of questions and answers concerning pen pressure in this forum, and I've tried a lot of things to fix this problem. I have a Genius MousePen 6x8 and use Photoshop CS5.1. It's been a while since I used my tablet, but it used to work before. I rebooted my computer a while ago, so I installed the new driver from the Genius website. The tablet is working fine, even the pen pressure, but for some reason it just won't work in Photoshop. I've tried to fix it by resetting the Photoshop settings by using the Ctrl+Shift+Alt, I've reset the brush tool, I've played around with the brush options and nothing has worked.
Here is the image of the pen pressure working:
And here is the image of the settings for the brush and the pen pressure not working:
    Thank you for your time!

Your tablet driver isn't reporting pressure correctly.
The knockoff tablet drivers usually need to be revised for each new version of Photoshop (and we have no idea why).
Contact your tablet maker to see if they have updated drivers to fix their bugs.

  • How do I change the pen pressure in Adobe Elements 11?

I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 in the hopes that I could finally start to draw and color lineart, but I don't know if it's an old and/or atypical version or what, cause I've tried like four or five different tutorials on how to change the pen pressure so that the thickness of the line you draw depends on how hard you push the pen. In all of these tutorials however, I only get as far as to the third or fourth step before they tell me to click an option I don't have. Now I hope that I just haven't found the right tutorial yet or pen pressure can't be modated in Elements 11??

In the pse 11 editor in Expert mode with the Brush Tool selected, click on Tool Options
and then click on Tablet Settings and select, for example, Size

  • Disable tablet pen pressure for eraser tool in PSE 10?

Hi, I recently bought PSE 10.
I have an Intuos 3 Wacom tablet and whenever I switch to the Eraser tool, in the brush preview icon (top left corner) I see this ~ type of a shape with narrow-pointy edges, indicating that the size-pen-pressure feature is on.
This is always true, even when I switch off all the per-pressure options via the Brush tool.
Can anyone hint how to control or at-least disable the pen-pressure feature while in the Eraser tool?
    Thank you.

One way would be to use the Basic Brushes which are not set for any pressure functions by default.
Or if you need a special brush you could save the brush without any pressure settings with the brush tool selected
and those settings should carry over for the eraser tool.
Also, you can set the mode to clear with the brush tool and that will act like the eraser tool set on the brush mode.

  • CS3 + Wacom Intuos tablet: pen pressure not recognized in CS3

Photoshop won't recognize my tablet for Pen Pressure sensitivity. Under the Brush settings it has the yellow triangle that says "Pen Pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet." I've installed the latest driver for Windows 7, and the tablet works in programs like Corel Painter and Sketchbook with no pressure problems, so it's definitely Photoshop. What do I do?

I did. I have installed the latest driver for Windows 7.

  • "pen pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet" in WINDOWS 8.1

    old problem but different system
"control by pen pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet"
I have a problem with it. There is problem when i using my Intuos pro or Cintiq 22 and my version of photoshop is CC.
Can somebody help me with this? hope for some simple solution ; )

If I recall correctly I solved this problem by things I found on the internet. However this is for Windows 7 and it has been a long time ago...
Don't know if it is still appropriate but here goes:
    Windows Prof:
Run “gpedit.msc” (click start, in the box closest to the button type “gpedit.msc” without quotes)
Click User Configuration, then drop down Administrative Templates, then drop down Windows Components, then drop down Tablet PC. Finally click “Cursors”
Now double-click Turn off pen feedback. Click the radio button “enable” and click ok.
    Windows Home:
    circle1
    Press the windows key
type "pen and touch" and press enter
In the window that appears, left-click the entry "Press and hold" and click "settings".
Uncheck "Enable press and hold for right-clicking".
Click OK on both windows to close them
    circle2
    Press the windows key
type "computer management" and press enter
In the window that opens, Double click "Services and Applications" in the centre column
Double click "Services" in the centre column
Scroll down and double click "Tablet PC Input Service"
Find the "Startup type:" dropdown box and change it to "Disabled".
Click OK, then close the Computer Management window
    Restart your PC
After your PC loads up again, one of two things should happen: either your tablet works happily and circle-free, or it doesn't work at all. If it doesn't work at all, you now need to download and install the proper driver for it (to replace the Microsoft one that you just disabled). If you use a wacom, you can find the driver for your tablet here.

  • Random Pen Pressure in PS CS4

Hi, I have a intuos3 with updated drivers. The pen pressure works fine with other programs(illustrator, flash, wacom settings program, etc). But in Photoshop, the pressure recognition is random. Half of the time it works fine, but other times it does not. If I make 10 lines, about 4 of them will not recongnize pen pressure. When it doesn't recognize pen pressure, it will just make a line as if I'm pressing down full strenght all the way. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Chris, I have the latest drivers for my Wacom and I have played with all the setting for the Pen/Tablet in Control Panel. Still no luck. And the pressure sensitivity works fine in other programs. It's only in Photoshop that this ransom pressure recognition problem exists. Any other ways I can fix it?

  • Pen pressure wont work with Elements 13

I am incredibly frustrated right now. I finally decided to upgrade my elements 8 to 13 because it was on sale. My Huion 580 tablet pen pressure functions work great with Photoshop Elements 8, so I assumed that I would not have a problem with Photoshop Elements 13. I have tried everything including playing with my tablet settings and brush settings in the program. Nothing will make the pressure sensitivity on the brush work! I know it is not a problem with the tablet because it still works just fine on my elements 8. The upgrade is useless to me unless I can get the pen to work. Any suggestions?
    thanks in advance

Which operating system are you using?
Does the tablet maker have any updated drivers?

  • Pen pressure issues with CS6

So, I'm having an odd issue with my tablet and its pressure sensitivity with CS6. I've got a Genius MousePen tablet; M508W model. I can use it on my mac computer with photoshop elements; pen pressure works just fine with it. In CS6, when I do the stroke preview for all of my burshes, it shows the tapering-- as well as in the brush settings. When I go to make an actual rush stroke though, it doesn't apply the pressure settings. I've got the most recent drivers for the tablet downloaded, All of the old driver software was uninstalled, I've made sure that the drivers are for my version of windows, I've tried setting the compatability back to windows 7 and using the windows 7 drivers, but STILL nothing. The only reason I'm lead to believe that this is an issue with CS6 is that the tablet works with PS Elements just fine. If anyone could help shed some light on the situation, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am having a similar issue.
Working in CS6 on a Cintiq Companion.
Pressure sensitivity disappears while I'm working.
The only way to get it back is to quit out of Photoshop and relaunch.
The pressure sensitivity works fine in Autodesk Sketchbook.

  • Controlling brush darkness with intuos5 pen pressure?

I just bought a pressure sensitve tablet (wacom intuos5 medium).
I want to set it up so I can practice "charcoal drawing" in photoshop without the mess. Specifically, I want the pressure to control the darkness of the brush tool, from very faint to completely black.
So, in the brushes window, I enabled "other dynamics" and set the flow control to pen pressure. It works but not very well. It's hard to draw a faint line, and faint lines appear to be made up of discrete circles.
I also try linking the opacity to the pen pressure, and set flow to 100%. This work better for faint lines, but I'm unable to draw a completely black line. It seems the opacity maxed out at about 40%. I don't want to apply too much pressure lest I break the tablet.
Is there a better way to set this up?

To avoid the visible circles you may have to reduce the Spacing (and subsequently maybe reduce the overall Flow).
Could you post screenshots of your settings and the resulting strokes (ideally applied tio a Path with »Simulate Pressure« checked, so allow for comparrison)?

  • Toggle pen pressure in flash cc

    Hello,
I feel quite foolish, but I cannot find the "pen pressure" or "pen sensitivity" or any setting enabling use of a tablet in Flash CC. I have scoured forums for the past few hours and noticed a lot of issues with tablets not functioning... but I can't find any settings to alter other than "smoothing." In the preferences in Flash under "Drawing" there are no settings. When you select the brush and the properties window appears, there are no options to select pen pressure or tilt. If I'm not mistaken it used to be right under the timeline. Looked like a stylus with a target underneath it and you simply.... clicked it.
Either I'm dumb or insane, but I wouldn't think this would be an issue. My tablet has all the latest drivers and works fine in other abode software.
I'm at a loss. Help my Obi Wan, or Adobe Admin, or kind stranger. Whoever you are. I'll bake you some digital muffins.
    Muffinface

It appears I am both dumb AND insane. I found a solution. Since I'm working on a laptop, the toolbar is scrunched into a strip. When I move it and expand it the tilt and pen pressure options appear.
    Thanks, me. You are great.

  • Pen-pressure control both opacity\flow AND size?

I distinctly remember very early versions of Photoshop (even well before CS, perhaps) in which I could choose a brush that was very valueable to me and that would allow me to control with Wacom pen pressure both the opacity and the size of the stroke. I vaguely remember it had to do with the air-brush icon
I can no longer find such a brush in photoshop.
In all my attempts to play with the options or brush settings, or choosing the `pressure opacity icon` or the `size opacity icon` and all combinations I tried, I caouldn`t find a brush that will allow me to control both, and I remember and know that once it did exist...
In screenshot 1 I show how when choosing opacity pressure control one gets these wonederful soft, cloudy, fluffy, gradient edges but how  even if the strokes seems to grow a bit thinner is actually the same width between the two parallel red lines.
In screenshot 2 I show how when choosing size pressure control one ges these pointy sharp edges and not the cloudy gradients of the previous example
In screenshot 3 I attemp[t a simulation - An artificial representation of the look and feel of that brush i`m referring to, long lost to me, that has both soft edges and can still be reduced to a thin line at the same time.

Conroy, the point you bring up is important, thank you.
The fade size and flow stroke would give the exact effect I`m looking for, if it could only be truly controled and did not impose a set and limited effect, in the sense that the stroke cannot be either lengthened, dragged,or modified in any way. It`s mere existence indicates that such an effect is still doable within the photoshop visual language.
If only I could find how to be able to get such an effect for actual drawing...
The loss of this ability spells a great handicap in my ability to use Photoshop.
I think that all I needed in ancient versions was to click the airbrush icon and I would have it, but now clicking this icon seems strangely to yield no visible effect, which is also a tell-tail sign by itself, don`t you think?
I wondoer whether other Wacom users are having the same problem and whether they are not too, suffering tremendously from the inexplicable dissapearance of that ability.
I`m currently using a 12WX Cintiq Wacom tablet, always with the latest drivers.
