Inverted colour on display

Hi all smart people,
Yesterday I took my iBook G4 to Uni and then home again and obviously somewhere along the way I bumped it or did something to it because I went to open it up this morning and the screen is not working properly. The computer works fine except that it seems the screen has been inverted. All the colours have been inverted.
No idea what could be wrong as I have no experience in these things.
Thanks

I am having this same problem, it is not hardware related from what i can tell.
On my Powerbook G4 1.25 Ghz computer, today i came home and the screen had gone inverted (like a negative image filter is on every single item on the screen) -- then. I rebooted, and the startup screen was normal Apple Blue, i could even choose between my 2 usernames on a Login screen.
after logging in, the screen is back to being invterted, so it must be some sort of user preference that got corrupted.
sounds like the same problem soopahero is encountering.
Another factor: when I login remotely (via VNC), i do not see the colors inveterted in my remote window.

• 3000 C200 Monitor issue - Desktop displays inverted colours (like photo negatives)

Hi,
My LCD monitor is displaying EVERYTHING in inverted colours (desktop, websites, photos etc.)  It just started doing this earlier today when I moved the laptop from my desk to the couch.  Can someone tell me how I can fix this, or if there is a utility (for Windows XP) that enables my PC to invert colours (for the whole computer, not just for images).
I have adjusted display properties and checked High Contrast in Accessibility options.  I have also tried PowerStrip and different magnifiers, and I have checked that my video and adapter drivers are up to date.  I believe that this is a problem with the LCD screen and not with my settings.  If it is a physical problem with the monitor then my warranty has run out so I would appreciate it if you can recommend the correct parts to buy to fix this or possibly a tutorial to show me how to open the monitor and fix it myself.
Thanks.

Try downloading one of so called "LiveCD"-s, for example hiren's , or PartedMagic or another program that can use 32-bit colour in non-windows enviroment (Linux is acceptable also as non-windows enviroment ) and check whether the problem persists. If colours are normal, the problem is in drivers or registry tweak, thus haven't hear about such thing ever.
Another (simpliest) way is to take screenshot and e-mail it to someone that owns a normal-colour-displaying comp. If the screenshot is clear (colours are ok), then problem is in your LCD and you'll have to have a pleasant date with service-centre =)

• Inverted Colours after converting images

Hey Guys,
i got a huge Problem. At my Office I have an Intel iMac 7.1. I have to convert .tiff-files into .Jpg and sometimes resize them into low resolution.
I'm using the Automator for it (Finder same Problem).
The converted Images are inverted. Funny thing is: If i put these images onto a Win PC, the files a normal, not inverted.
If I edit the converted images on the iMac again, they will displayed at the iMac normally again. However these files are inverted on a normal PC.
Do you understand me? I need to fix this bug, because i cannot work if there are 1. inverted colours in e.g. resized pictures and 2. i dont know if they have normal colours on a PC or not..
If someone of you could help me, it would be amazing..
While looking at goole, i just found one page where it says that this is an old bug from Mac OSX. But i dont have that prob at my Macbook and I never saw that somewhere..
Sorry for my mistakes, not my foreign language..
Greetz and THANKS

Go here:
Apple icon (top left of screen) double click to System Preferences.
Open up Universal Access (bottom of that pane). Go to display, and make sure the dot next to
"Black on White" is selected, not "White on Black."
The keyboard shortcut is pressing the Apple/Command, Alt/Option, and Control keys all at the same time , along with the number 8 key.

• Inverted colours after unblanking screen.

This doesn't happen all the time but on occasion after the screen unblanks and presents the lock screen i get inverted colours. The system seems to be working ok and a screenshot i got showed the right colours. A reboot fixes this.
Any ideas where this can come from?? It started happening about a month or two ago and i don't see anything in the logs.
Is it the DE (doubt it), Card drivers (suspect it), hardware (hopefully not)??
I am on E17, radeon FOSS.

• How can I check photoshop is giving correct colour screen display ?

Hi,
I photograph a bright red car in raw mode on a digital slr (Canon 20D) set to Adobe rgb 1998  and view it in BreezeBrowser and it looks just as I remember it. I open it into Pshop CS5 extended (which is set to Adobe rgb1998, Europe ISO Coated Fogra27, (as I am UK and this is what a calibration company set our works proofer to)  gray gamma 2.2 dot gain 20% and its become a little desaturated. Sampling it and comparing screens and colours with BreezeBrowser its definitley less red, a bit more orangey red instead. I need to up saturation to return the red, both in RAW converter and also after image opened if not done so beforehand in RAW converter.
Colours just look muted.
What tests can I carry out to find out what is going on ?
Perhaps create a rgb 255 0 0 image in a way not influenced by photoshop and photo the monitor, then open this in photoshop and sample it. However that would be influenced by the exposure of the camera. Maybe I need to create a kodak grey card type image and establish correct exposure for the monitor brightness first. so what would that be as rgb ?
Any other ideas ?
I know though that Pshop is displaying duller. Once upon a time we had Adobe gamma and one would go through the calibration wizard to set up photoshop having already set up the monitor.
What do we have to do after installing CS5 extended or CS4 to ensure Pshops display is correct ?
I have Adobe gamma in the control panel, Is this something we still have to do in CS5, I wonder if its there because I still have Pshop 7 installed which used that wizard.
XP pro is my OS.

Photoshop Monitor & Profile Image(link)
a big tip - why colors in Photoshop look different in other applications - is:
View> Proof Setup: Monitor RGB
that should duplicate what the other apps are displaying (the RGB numbers are going straight to the monitor with no color adjustment) - Photoshop converts/adjusts source colors to the monitor profile for a so-called 'true-color' display...

• Unusual problem (inverted colours)

Right, so I got a macbook a few weeks ago and everything's been going fine... until today. I'm not quite sure what caused it (perhaps I've had it turned on too long, or because my cat lay on it for a while and pressed some keys...) but all the colours on my screen are inverted. Blue is orange, green is red and so on.
It's not just an appearance change (in the appearance change it still says "blue" eventhough most of it is orange) because everything is inverted. From the icons to the menu, from pictures to the little Apple logo on the top left. I doubt it's a hardware problem as the original Mac OSX loading screen is still blue. From the moment it loads Mac OSC, however, everything turns orange and black and such.
If anyone knows how to invert it back to the normal colors, I'd be most thankful.

why exactly does a mac have the function of inverting colours?
It's for people who have vision problems and have trouble reading black-on-white text. It's part of the Universal Access system preferences (and can be turned on and off there as well as the keyboard shortcut).

• I turned invert colours on my iPad but them I turned it now my iPad is weird??!!

Basically I turned invert colours on my my iPad but I didn't like it so turned it of. But when I swipe to unlock my iPad to type in the password the screen is grey before I turned on invert colours it was translucent (you could see you background faintly through) but it's just pure grey it's the same thing with the shortcut where u swipe your screen what can I do help

Try to reset your device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

• Acrobat Pro 9 colour separations displaying incorrectly

Hi
Running Acrobat Pro 9 on OSX 10.6.4. We have an Indesign pdf which has multiple spot colours in it. When viewing the individual separations in Acrobat Pro 9 it displays them in colour, rather than black. It is also showing the separation below the one that is actually selected. This is only happening on one of our Macs - the other Macs show separations correctly.
We've never come across this before and seem to be unable to find any way to fix it. Perhaps removing preferences would help, but not sure exactly which files to remove?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks

I am having the same issue. I did some testing and deleted the preferences and that put the program back in sync. The issue still remains for me because when I select output preview the default profile is not the chosen profile for sync from bridge and Acrobat be comes un synchronized. I hope the issue is addressed with a workaround or update quickly.

• Can you change background colours on new iOS without having to invert colours?

I suffer from visual migraines and the new colours on this upgrade are seriously affecting me. I can barely look at the phone without becoming ill. The only semi solution i can find at the moment is to invert the colours to make the screen darker, but this also inverts everything else -pictures, apps. Etc. surely there must be a way. I only bought an iphone, which as we all know aren't cheap, because it was user friendly. Now I can barely use it without suffering! It's quite disappointing to think that Apple didn't consider customers like myself when designing this new upgrade!?
Please tell me I haven't wasted a fortune!?!
Also this is the second time I've had to write this because the first time I moved the screen to read what I'd written and it took me back a step as I moved the screen a tiny bit too quick.....another feature that wasn't thought about thoroughly.

I have the same complaint...I've got eye problems and have already adjusted the font size.
Why all the freakin' white...and light grey font.. I still have the iphone 4s and IOS7 looks like crap on the older phone..
I want MORE customization APPLE!....GET IT!  OR I WILL switch to another phone vendor.. and I've used Apple for years.

• Inverted question mark  (¿) displayed insted of euro sign (€)

Hi folks,
when I'm trying to open an existing report (created and built on colleagues machine) in my Report Builder (v 10.1.2.0.2) instead of euro sign (€) is displayed inverted question mark (¿).
When I open this report with other machine, everything is fine. So it looks to me, that something is wrong with my machine - some settings.
I compared Regional and Language settings within Control Panel,in register NLS_LANG (AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252) - on both machines and it is the same.
What can cause this problem?
Many Thanks,
Tomas

Yes I have, I checked character codes on my machines.
I reinstalled Oracle forms and reports (10gR2) and after re-installation it is working fine. I have no idea what causes this problem.
Thanks,
Tomas

• Incase anyone accidently changes colour of display to 256 here's a way back

Ok I just made a dumb mistake, using ARD I accidently changed the display settings on our headless xserve to 256 colour, and suddenly the remote screen went blank. So there was no way I could control it to reset the colours.
But here's my very clever solution incase any other fools do the same
1. Launch System Prefs on the server using ARD
2. control the server and type "displays"
3 press return
4 press tab, press right arrow, press left arrow, press tab, press tab, press down twice then press return.
And all is well again. just thought I'd share cos I thought it was a very creative solution!!! (pats myself on the back)
