Inverting sections of a document

I am still a rookie with Pages '08. I need to produce a document that is divided into quarters . Each quarter has different self contained info. The problem is I need to invert? the quarters such that the tops of the mini docs with meet in the centre. (sorry, hard to explain). In other words, I need to invert the left top and bottom quarters one turn to the right, and the right top and bottom quarters one turn to the left . The heads of each section will essentially meet in the centre. The document will be folded later and thus the need for this alignment. Is there a way to do this with pages '08 or will I have to resort to scissors and tape ?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Is the content text? How about using text boxes? Text boxes & other objects can be rotated &/or flipped using the metrics inspector.

Page Setup, including page orientation, is done in the File menu. The setting applies to the whole document. As Peter says, you can rotate the contents of a page (not including the text layer of a word processing document).
As an alternative, you could use Numbers, where Sheets are empty canvases onto which you may place images, charts, tables and text boxes, and where page orientation may be set for individual Sheets. The main tradeoff is that you lose many of the built-in word processing and page layout features of Pages.

How to move sections from one document to another?

In Pages 08 I could merge two documents by simply moving the sections from one document to the other one. By activating the thumbnail-view you could drag and drop sections. In Pages 5.2.2 that doesn't work. Any suggestions? Copy and paste doesn't work, because the layout is broken afterwards.

You only recourse in Pages v5 (any release) is copy/paste between documents, and its layout consequences; follow Peter's advice, or use a non-Apple word processing solution that allows you to get work done effectively. Apple put dumbnation into Pages v5.

How to best take sections from one document to merge with another Indesign document

I am looking for most efficient way to take a section from one document to merge with a section from another document? We have a book that needs updating, taking a section from one document to merge into another. We have typically copied and paste each page, but there are 20+ pages involved. Does anyone have a better way?

Open both documents.
With source document active, In pages panel, select pages that are to be copied to the destination document
Right Click (or use panel menu) and select Move Pages ...
Double check that correct page range is noted
Select destination document
select where in document pages should appear (beginning, end, after or before page X)

Upload of Sections in Word Document into SAP SE38 editor

I was wondering if we can build a ABAP tool which would read different sections within the 'Technical Specification Document' word document and
- Create ABAP program in SE38
- pull content from various sections of Word document under the respective event in SE38
e.g program could pick up the content written under section '1.1- Input Selection' and have it replicated in ABAP editor before 'Initialization' Event.....
To make this happen, i am currently struggling to read the content from Word Document. Would apprecaite if you can help /share some light on this subject.

First of all I am wondering who places all the code in techinical documenation. For me it should be just a summary of all things done in the program, so it actually should be created after the report is ready, not before.
Secondly generating the code from some input stream is highly risky. Word or other applications don't have syntax checker for ABAP, right? So how do you know this coding doesn't dump once loaded to the report.
Next, dynamic report generation is of course possible with at least two ways, one would be using [generate subroutine pool|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPGENERATE_SHORTREF.htm] but it would require whole program to be self-written not just part of it. Another way with [READ REPORT|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPREAD_REPORT_SHORTREF.htm] and then insert your part using [INSERT REPORT|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPINSERT_REPORT_SHORTREF.htm] but this is also not a convenient way of changing the report unless you do this deliberately and totally aware of the consequences.
As for reading Word you can use OLE or [Desktop Office Integration|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e9/0be7b9408e11d1893b0000e8323c4f/frameset.htm]. For the latter you might look at package SOFFICEINTEGRATION .
To sum up, although technically possible there is no quarantee you will have the code proper in your document so inserting it in some program might be disaster in consequences.

When I copy a section of a document or email and copy within the text where does my Mac store it.

I have a mac desktop and I am using OS X Yosemite
When I highlight in Blue a section of the document I want or email I tap and get a window that allows me to COPY that highlighted section but can't find where it is saved so I can retrieve it.My friend told me his goes to CLIPBOARD which I don't have.

The Clipboard is hidden by default.

Usually when you copy something you can immediately paste it by performing the same action as before, and choosing paste.
Alternatively you can use the keyboard shortcuts, command + c to copy and command + v to paste.

Why does Pages delete sections of a document?

While writing a document, Pages will suddenly delete a section of the document. Anyone else experience this?

Pages doesn't delete anything. It is probably something you are doing that triggers this behaviour. Which device do you use Pages on? In this forum we mainly try to help those having computers. There is a forum for those using Pages on iPads too.

Not able to edit the words "chapter" and "section" in the document workflow

Hi all,
I would like to point out something that could be a bug. The 2 words "chapter" and "section" are not editable in the document workflow: I can just change the title for each chapter and the title for each section, but I am not able to change the words "chapter" and "section".
The problem is, iBooks Author is using the words "chapter" and "section" (heading 1) to build the TOC: if I am using iBooks Author in English, but I am writing a text in French, I am not able to change "Chapter" into "Chapitre". The only way to go, what I found out, is to close the app, change the OSX Lion system language, log out, re-open iBooks Author and start a new book: opening an English book in the French version of iBooks Author will not change automatically the language in the workflow.
Does anybody has a trick to edit the words "chapter" and "section"?

Thank you, but it's still in english.
I changed to "only number", then wrote the word "chapter" in french or italian or german before the number, then deleted the preview on the iPad and made a new preview, I still have the same result: the word "chapter" is still in the language of the app.
To be clear: I am writing a text using iBooks Author in italian. I have to translate the same text in french, the fastest way would be to rework the italian version (I already have all the multimedia stuff inside). I changed the italian word "Capitolo" (chapter) to the french one "Chapitre" (using the advices of AodhFFXI and K T). And for the first slide of the chapter that's fine.
But if I "close down" the first chapter slide or if I click on the top left botton to go to the chapter TOC, there I still have the word in italian, even if the word has been deleted in the layout:

I have some problems working with Robohelp 6.0 for Word
1. I want to form Microsoft Word document containing cover
page, table of contents, glossary, index etc. I want to
form all of these autogenerated sections with my own Word
template. I.e. I want to form cover page with product
name, company name, production date and other attributes
having their own location and design style. With Robohelp I
can generate only default cover page with document name. The
same with other autogenerated sections. Can I assign
some Word templates to Robohelp for use in autogenerated
sections? Or can I do this with any other manner?
2. As I read in Robohelp's Users Manual I can change some of
page settings manually in resulting document only. These settings
are page numbering style, page headers /footers etc. It is not
convenient. I want to fit these
settings before generation, possibly with templates too. Can
I do this with Robohelp?

I too wanted a custom frontsheet, TOC and index in the
printed documentation. All of these I could do in RH2002 that I
used before MS Word 2003.
When I upgraded to RH6, I could no longer have these custom
parts when generating the printed documentation from word
documents.
But, you can have custom parts in the printed documentation
if you use RH for HtmlHelp.
I've converted all our help projects to HtmlHelp. This is a
reasonably simple procedure. Peter Grainge's web site has some
useful info on do's and don'ts for this.

How to apply different 'headers' to different sections of a document?

I realise that 'headers' may not be the correct term but... is it possible to apply a series of different 'headers' to different sections in a single document?
In the example where a single document consists of three 'chapters' (say, 10-15 pages each) I'd like to have a 'header' that reads: "This is the first part" at the top of all chapter one pages, "This is the second part" at the top of all chapter two pages and "This is the third part" at the top of all chapter three pages (etc).
I thought this might be possible using a series of master pages but have no idea whether that would work or how to go about it so any clues would be most appreciated - am using latest release of ID (CS6) on Windows 7.

Well you don't need different master pages.
You go to the single master page and go to
Type>Text Variables>Define
Click the pre-exisiting Running Header and click "edit"
Select "Running Header Paragraph Style"
Style: <select the style of the chapter heading> (if you don't have styles applied to your chapter headings then you need to apply a style to them so they show up)
Say Ok
On the Master Page - insert a text frame in the desired location.
With the Text Indicatior in the text frame - you can choose Type>Text Variable>Insert and choose the Running Head variable you just created.
That will do it.

Page opens in a particular section of the document on CommandButton click

Now the problem is that the new page to be opened in a particular section of the current page .. say for example the new page should be rendered in the following div section-

your problem is that you are trying to load on client side a part of the page while jsf was maded to work on server side with a back bean, use ajax instead, to work on client side.
Eg: You can use a rendered attibute, you can redisplay a panelgroup with a rendered attibute to a condition, can load a subview on the redisplay

I am trying to change the page number format in a section of my document. I want 2 sections to have 2 different page number formats. How can I do this?

I have 2 sections in my Pages document. I am using Insert Auto Pages in footers to number my pages, but when I try to change the number format for one section it changes the format to the same as my change for the other section. I want auto page number in each section but want each section's page numbers to have different formats. I have managed to get the auto page numbering to begin separately in each section, but just can't get the formats to be different. There must be a way to do this. Anyone know how?

HP Deskjet 3070A: why does it scan only sections of a document?

The printer would only scan sections of an A4 document. I do not semm to have access to ant contyrol panel where I can set the proper scanning area. Why is that? It worked perfectly well a few months ago...

Hi,
The default scan workflow configured to scan 6 x 4 inch picture. Make sure to change the scan settings not to crop the scanned area as following:
1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle or the Show Details button to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
7. Click OK and try scanning again.
