Could any please explain me the difference between CWIP and Investment Profiles. And please tell me the configuration required for the Investment Profiles.

Have a look in the SAP help in the part project or internal orders to understand how investments are working in SAP. You first need to undersatnad this befre you start
How to set this up is depended of your requerements. There are example profiles / order types in the system available.

Hi Vijay,
If an inv. profile (or other customizing settings) is used somewhere, it must not be deleted in the customizing table, otherwise it cause database inconsistency.
To forbid the user to maintain this field at wbs, you can use the
customizing item
'Define Field Selection for Work Breakdown Structures' to hide\disable the filed. in the following path: Project System -> Structures -> Operative Structures -> Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) -> User Interface Settings.

Hide the Investment profile in WBS - Control Tab

Hi,
Our project has four level of WBS elements. The fourth wbs element would have investment profile attached to it and would be relevant for AuC and settlement.
I request you experts to suggest how should I grey out the Investment Profile in WBS Control Tab, so that no one would by mistake enter a Investment profile, in only top 3 wbs elements.

T Code OPUK- Field selection for WBS elements.
Double click on the field Investment profile (PRPS-IMPRF), position the cursor on level field and click on new value button. Mention the level 1,2 and 3 and select the radio button 'Invis' (Invisible). Save.
With this Investment profile field will not be displayed at level 1-3 but would be visible at level 4.

Investment measure settlement doubles after investment profile change

We changed the indicator "Summary Settlement/Line Item Settlement" in Investment Profile (which was already used for Investment Measures) and "Amount and Percentage" indicator to allow the amount wise capitalization of AuC/Investment Measure on various fixed assets.
Now, while we try to settle the amount through CJ88, the system is settling the values that were already settled in previous periods. As a result the expenses become understated and Asset are over stated. How can we resolve this issue while we have already changed the Investment Profile as mentioned above.?

We are trying to settle March 2014 period therefore we can't carry out any new postings other than settlement.
For your reference, here is the Case:
EAC003 is an expense account and primary cost element
ABA001 is CWIP Account with Statistical Cost Element
The amount posted in March 2014 on account EAC003 is 323,813 which has value type 4 (Actual). When we run the settlement, the system settles the amount 3,053,065 (including 2,729,252 of value type 11: Statistical Actual)

Assets (Investment profile): Transfer value from AuC to Fixed asset

Good afternoon all,
We have implemented Assets across investments profile. The settlement of investment is u201CSummary settlementu201D and we do not have u201CList of Originsu201D.
We have created a project and then a WBS that automatically creates the AuC (asset under construction). Transaction code CJ20N.
Then we have created the purchase order (ME21N) and afterwards we have carried out an entry sheet (ML81N) where we have informed the WBS previously created.
Through CJ88 we have done the settlement of the WBS and we have checked it.
Now we have created the fixed asset and we would like to transfer the value of the AuC to the fixed asset. I am not able and I am a bit lost. I do not how to perform it.
Any idea?

If the asset is an asset under construction belonging to an investment measure, then the transaction code KO88 needs to be used.

Investment profile to AUC?

hi all,
can any one please make me understand me that the difference between summary breakdown and line item settlement?
i came to know with f1 help that summary breakdown is nothing but all line items together will make whole sum and settled to only one AUC. or one cost object or one g/l account
and in line item settlement single single line ltem will seperatly settled to differenr AUCs or orders or gl account......
am i correct..:)
Please guide me in this complex underastanding to me.

Basically, yes.
Summary settlement: AuC and Final asset mapping is 1:1, meaning you will have to settle the total amount to one final asset.
Line item settlement: AuC and final asset mapping is 1:N, meaning you can settle some percentage (or use amounts or equivalent numbers) to one final asset and remaining to another.

Settlement of Investment Order - Auto creation of Sub asset for settlement

Request your help on Investment orders settlement.
We are doing settlement of Investment orders to sub asset numbers, where sub assets are created well in advance.
Our client want system to create sub asset numbers automatically, while doing the settlement of Investment orders itself.
Is it possible ?, If possible, please let me know, what are the settings I need to do to meet this requirement.

Hiya,
Go to IMG --> Controlling --> IO --> Actual Postings --> Settlement --> Automatic Generation of Settlement Rules.
There is no SAP Standard created for settlements to sub-assets, so you'll need to create one using option 4 there "User-Defined Strategies for Automatic Generation ...".
Once this is done, get an ABAP Developer to code the settlement rule by creating a custom project in that same transaction. The rule will be similar to the SAP Standard ones created in option 1 of the same node.
Once this is done, create strategy sequences for this, and assign to Order Type(s).
If your users can maintain a basic investment profile when creating the Order Master Data, the developer can be directed to pick that data (aka fields) for the creation of the subasset number.

I searched the Forum and got some input.., but in that I have a clarification.
Please see my doubt and the forum input.
Internal Order as Investment Measure:
Can you explain me Step 10. Settle the amounts to Main Asset from AuC(Prcg type: Full) - KO88 once again.
How we can give the Receiver Main Asset master in KO88. In KO88 we can only provide the Internal Order. But that Internal Order is already settled to AuC in Step 8.
Please guide me.

Are you doing any settlement using the AUC asset ?
Normal practice is to Create an Auc Asset and settle cost to Auc. Once the asset is ready for use, finally settle the Auc to final asset.
This can be done in two ways like - line item settlement / investment measure.
Below are steps in two scenarios :
Internal Order as Investment Measure:
1. Define the AuC Asset Class (with investment measure) - OAOA
2. Define the Asset Class u2013 for Main Asset - OAOA
3. Define Investment Profile - OITA
a. Assign the AuC Asset Class (Step-1) in the investment profile
4. Assign Investment Profile to Model Order - OITA
5. Define Order Type (Investment) - KOT2
a. Settlement Profile - OKO7
b. Maintain Allocation Structures - OKO6
c. Planning Profile - OKOS
d. Budget Profile - OKOB
6. Create an Internal Order - KO01
a. With the Investment Profile (Step-2)
b. AuC automatically created by the system using Asset Class given in the Investment Profile
7. Post the amounts to IO - FB01
8. Settle the amounts to AuC from IO (Prcg type: Automatic) - KO88
9. Create the Main Asset - AS01
10. Settle the amounts to Main Asset from AuC(Prcg type: Full) - KO88
AuC using Line Item Settlement:
1. Define the AuC Asset Class (with Line Item Settlement) - OAOA
2. Define the Asset Class u2013 for Main Asset - OAOA
3. Define Order Type (Overhead) - KOT2
4. Create an AuC-Asset (using Step-1 Asset Class) - AS01
5. Create an Internal Order - KO01
a. Assign the AuC u2013 Asset in Settlement Rule in IO
6. Post the amounts to IO - FB01
7. Settle the amounts to AuC from IO - KO88
8. Create Main Asset (using Step-2 Asset Class) - AS01
9. Assign the Main Asset in IO (Step-5) - KO02
10. Settlement AuC u2013 Line Item List - AIAB
11. Settlement AuC - Receiver - AIBU

Your message is not very clear - while you have mentioned at what stage are you getting the above-mentioned error message, you haven't mentioned exactly what you were trying to do. The fact that you are getting this error is a straight-forward indication that you are attempting to do something that SAP does expect.
However, answering your query about how to use KO88, you have to settle the AuC to a FA (fixed asset, with asset class other than AuC ), as that will close the open AuC, transfer the value from the AuC to the FA and from this point onwards, all transactions will happen to this FA. Your statement "in KO88, we can only provide the Internal Order" is incorrect.

Project as an Investment measure - Unable to settle

Hi,
Request help on the below situation.
1.We have created a project as an Investment project using tcode CJ20N and a WBS element in the project also.
The WBS element when released, creates an AUC automatically.
However the AUC created does not have any depreciation areas active in it because, in our system, the asset class 4001 ( AUC for Investment Profile) has all the depreciation areas deactivated in it.
2.Because of this, we end up in the error as below, while attempting to settle the WBS element.
No depreciation areas have been defined for asset 40000-0
Message no. AA025"
3. Hence we attempted to activate the depreciation areas for the asset class 4001 to be in line with the asset class 4000 (AUC asset class)
4. But after doing this we were not able to even release the WBS elements which were created after this config change. The attempt to release ended in update termination error as below.
" Express document "Update was terminated" received from author "Hemamalini S""
5. We conclude that if the depn areas are deactivated, we are not able to settle the WBS and if the depn areas are activated we are not able to release the WBS.

Try to ad the the depreciation area's to the asset under construction:
Set first the default valuesfor the depreciation area: TC OAYZ
With the transaction AFBN - New Depreciation Area you can ad the depreciation area to the AUC class
First test this this transaction code is working for all the assets

Line items for Capital investment project report

Hi guys,
any idea how may I report on the line items for CIP similar to the info I get via t-code CJIC but for multiple WBS elements with investment profile. Is it possible that I may find needed info based on the status of the line item?

Hi,
without Investment Profile you can not create AUC or main asset through Project.
its just only oneor two settings - only creation of Investment profile and its assignkent to project profile.
still if you dont want to go with this - then
Maintaiin settlement rule manually to FXA. in this FI person will create C- WIP ( AUC) by normal transaction (AS01). and will maintain in settlement rule- respective WBSE.

Migration Values on assets as investment measure

Hi Gurus,
I have a problem about AS92 for asset as investment measure. I have created a WBS in PS module with an investment profile and, when a have realised the WBS elements, the system has created assets as investment measure.
I tried to migrate values on these assets by the transaction AS92, but the system returned this message: "AY123 - Asset 599800000000 0 is a capital investment measure - not an old asset".
How can I do to migrate values on these assets without recording values on WBS element?

I read the note that I have indicated. If I understand it is not possible to use transaction AS92 to migrate values for this type of assets.

Legacy AuC - Investment Measure

Dear Experts
One of our SAP client is getting merged into another SAP client effective 1st April 2011.
I'am not sure regarding the takeover of AuC which are not completely capitalised.
I've read several threads and it has been suggested to use TType 900 for prior year data in AS92.
I've tried that but system doesnt allow this Ttype in case of AuC created as Investment Measure under asset class 4001.
Error msg-
Trans. type 900 allowed only for assets u. const. Please correct.

Our Investment profile is created with 'Summary Settlement'.
Please suggest how to go ahead in such case.

Hi,
If you are sure that the AuC has to be linked ot and Invesmtnet measure, then create the Invetment order or the WBS, post the openning balance of the AuC by using a cost element crated for this exercise, maintain the allocation structure by defining that the settlement has to be executed with the primary cost element and settle the order.

Investment measure for network activity?

I can manually create AuC and settle from network activity to the AuC, but is there an option for the investment profile? Basically network is also an order, while for Internal orders we can have IM profile...

I still could not raise an AuC against a network activity. As you have suggested the AuC was only available against the WBS.
Please let advise how can I get an AuC against a network activity.

These are the steps to be followed:
1. Create a asset class for CWIP (Auc) - OAOA: In this select Investment Measure under Status of AuC.
2. Define Investment Profile (OITA) - Give AuC Asset class as invest measure asset class.
3. Create Internal Order Type for Investments: Normally standard 0650 order type will take care of the requirement. We need not to create anything.
4. Create Asset (AS01) under normal asset class i.e., buildings or vehicles etc... (You cannot create under AuC Asset Class)
5. Create Internal Order (KO01): Give Object class as investment and under Investments tab give investment profile created in step 2.
Go to settlement profile tab and give category as FXA and settlement receiver the asset no. and give 100%.
6. Change asset master to incorporate the internal order number under Origin Tab. Give no. in Investment order field.
7. Release the Internal Order (KO02)
8. Post the transactions through different T.Codes by referring Internal Order as account assignment.
9. Go to Internal Order through KO02 and complete TECO under control data.
10. Go to T.Code KO88 (internal order settlement) and settle the order.

Capital Investment Order PM06

What is teh significance of assigning the invetment order to investment profile, my client just want the capital order as a seperate order type and want to settle the cost to WBS element, in this case if I didnt do the assignment for PM06 to invetsment profile what will be the impact??? also is that we need seperate allocation structure other than what we have it for maintennace order which is tied up with settlement profile "40" teh standard one, let me know we can use the same profile "40" and allocation structure for settling the wbs element? any help guys.
Note: We dont have FICO consultant as the person we have is end user who has been trained on FICO which the person as no clue on anything what I talk about.

Investment profile is used to create AuCs automatically when the Order is released. AuCs are Asset Under Construction which are created so that periodic settlement can be done to this as long as the Capital job is on and then finally settled to the Asset once the project is over.
Investment profiles are created using Asset classes and you must have the necessary Asset classes in place. Ask your FI team member to create Asset classes & Investment profiles using the Asset classes or you create the same.
