Invetory of all my physical servers

Hi,
I need to make an inventory of all my physical servers (NT, 2003, 2008) and would like to get the number of CPUs, Disk space used and memory per server.
We have many VMs and would like to exclude them if possible.
Does anyone have a script or freeware that could do the job?
Thank you

Hi
something similar:
http://www.toadworld.com/platforms/sql-server/b/weblog/archive/2014/05/21/powershell-os-inventory-and-disk-info-consolidated-excel-file-email.aspx
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
This only gives you the drive size though... I need the CPUs and RAM as well.
Thanks

  • Using VCM to compare hardware metrics on physical servers

    Hi,
I have a large physical server estate (mix of Win, RHEL and Solaris) which all have had the latest VCM agent installed.
What I want to do with VCM is to select one physical machine and make it a baseline, then compare other physical servers to that baseline. Physical servers will be grouped into clusters (per application) and then into tiers (e.g. Test). I want to be able to check compliance of a clustered application against a single baseline physical server, then other application clusters within a tier, then tiers against other tiers.
Can anyone give me a started for 10 on creating a compliance template from an existing physical machine?
Note: I'm interested in hardware only at this point (driver metrics, BIOS etc) - OS comparison will come down the line.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Cheers.
    Jeremy.

If you want to keep the data from the baseline machine(s), even if the machines themselves change, or are removed, later, you should create VCM Snapshots for them.
These are managed under Administration\Machines Manager\VCM Snapshots. The Help for this node provides more detail about this feature. Basically, you first need to collect all the data you will be interested in including in the baseline, and then create a Snapshot to make a static copy of the data in the VCM database that will act like another machine entry.
To compare machines to a baseline machine, or to a baseline VCM Snapshot, use the Compare Machines action from Compliance\Machine Group Compliance\Templates node. Again, the Help provides a lot more information about this feature.

Jailbreaking violates the Apple warranty and licensing agreement and voids ALL support from Apple.  No one on here can help you as doing so is a violation of the Terms of Use of these Communities.  If you send the iPad to Apple they will just send it back to you as they are not permitted to work on a machine that has been jailbroken.

  • SPNego  - SETSPN with alias for two separate physical servers

    Hi All
We have a scenario where the client has a production server and a backup production server, and a single alias pointing to both (meaning - when the main production server fails, the requests are routed to the backup production server). We need to configure SPNego for these servers.
Lets say the alias name is pralias.company.com
and the main production host name is prod1.company.com
and the backup production host name is backprod.company.com
If I have to setspn to the production servers, can I use just one service user for all these three servers? My SETSPN commands would be:
    SETSPN -A HTTP/pralias.company.com scv-j2e-user
    SETSPN -A HTTP/prod1.company.com scv-j2e-user
    SETSPN -A HTTP/backprod.company.com scv-j2e-user
In the above commands, I have the same service user for all three domain names. Would this work? Or would I need to have 3 separate service users?
    Thanks

That's a common scenario, e.g., to connect to a load-balancer, but also to be able to connect to the individual servers (in case you're investigating if a problem is server-specific).
See Note 1387370, which confirms that single service user can be used for multiple server names (or aliases).

  • Time sync monitor for all windows member servers

How to monitor time sync issue on all the member servers and domain controllers.  Can we monitor through scom 2007 r2.  Specially we need an alert when all the member servers are not in time sync.
    B John

There is no monitor for exactly your ask.
The AD management pack includes a Time Service Health monitor for DCs that makes sure the time service is running:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0c921fa7-45ed-4bee-8f53-c92c750f6cbf/scom-module-for-monitoring-time-sync-issues?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
Here is my "domain time tip:"
Select your preferred time server from this list
    http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/NTP/. For example 'tick.usno.navy.mil'.
Then run these commands on your PDC emulator of the domain:
    W32tm /config /syncfromflags:manual /manualpeerlist:"<DNS-name-of-time-server>"
    W32tm /config /reliable:yes
    W32tm /config /update
    W32tm /resync
    Net stop w32time
    Net start w32time
If you execute these commands, AD defaults will cause all your member servers to discover the domain time standard and update to it.
    Good luck,

  • Offsite Backup for Physical Servers & Workstations

Hi Spiceheads,Need some help with a solution design.OVERVIEW
We have a client with a Head Office in one country and multiple branches+remote laptop users across the globe (approx 500 such devices that are remote). The HO is virtualized & has a good backup system along with replication to their secondary DR site.
    NEED
The client needs to be able to backup all the PHYSICAL server and workstations (laptops & desktops) across all these branch offices to the HO backup storage repository and it will then be replicated to the DR site by their existing solution at the HO. The backup needs to support bare-metal as well as folder level backups.CONNECTIVITY
Most branches are hooked up to HO via site to site vpn. Some smaller branches & remote users have users using software vpn clients on their laptops. How can these machines be backed up to HO....

  • How to 'fail-over' CSS11503-AC when ALL 5 Reals Servers (Services) die

    Hi all,
Could anyone out there possibly provide an idea/config, of how it is possible to'fail-over' a CSS11503 set-up in Active/Standby mode with "ASR" enabled when:-
    - ALL your real servers(Services) for a particular VIP 'die'/OR nic is faulty.
    - So NOT just 1 of the real servers, but when ALL 5 are not reachable, I need to 'failover'
My initial thought are to use the "critical reporter" or "critical service" to report back to the 'active' CSS.
Anyone who has done this scenario before , please advise..
    thanks

Thanks very much Syed fo rthis.I was thiking that no-one could answer this query.
After a little tsting, I set the following config in the lab and it works but is different to yours. I cannot seem to configure the servive as "type local". When I input 'type ?; I get options such as nci-direct-return, nci-info-only, proxy-cache, redirect etc...etc..NO 'local'...!!

  • Many Physical Servers

Hi guys... my question is... i have 2 Physical Servers.... which VMWare product can i use to consolidate this...so for example
Server 1 has 8GB RAM, Server 2 has 4GB RAM...... i need to install 2 SAP Instances (2 VM Instances) with 6GB RAM each...
    Regards
       Chris

    > the 8 & 4 GB was just an examples... the real situation is that we have many SAP systems & i need to be able to allocate resources & adjust them when required... since we don't have identical hardware i really need to be able to consolidate them before allocating.... i also want to do this @ OS level (VMWare) & not @ SAP level (by having distributed systems).....
If you change the amount of memory of a machine you have to reflect that in the application, means, if you e. g. increase the memory on VMWare for a SAP system you have to adapt SAP parameter to make use of that memory. Otherwise the OS will see the memory but will not use it.
And of course you can run a number of SAP systems on the same machine, one with 4 GB, another with 8 GB and another one with 16 GB - if you have enough physical memory.

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard - OS licensing for physical servers

    Hi,
With Windows Server 2012 Standard, I can install the OS on up to two virtual machines.
For physical machines, how many physical servers can I install the OS on if I don't use any VMs?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Just to add, each license covers up to two physical processors. If you have more than two physical processors in a server, you need to assign additional licenses for it.

  • SCOM 2007 R2: Move all the SCOM servers Including GW to Cloud Computing : Infrastucture as Service

    Hi All,
My organization is planning to move All the SCOM servers to Cloud Computing : Infrastructure as Service and monitor the agents from Datacenter. I believe this is possible, however I am trying
to understand this is this a Wise decision ?  Below is the infrastructure details.
    SCOM 2007 R2 CU5
    SCOM servers:
    Clustered RMS
Clustered SQL 2008 R2 hosting both OperationsManager and OperationsManagerDW
    1 Reporting server
    2 MS
    6 GW monitoring DMZ agents
OS is WIN 2008 R2 for all the above server
    Number of agent:
    1800+
NO cross platform agent, and network device.
The one big challenge I am seeing is a bandwidth required to monitor 1800+ servers from cloud to datacenter as each agent required 64bit kbps(minimum).
Any advice or your past experience share would be a great help.
    Technology Specialist.
    Satish Phatge.

This is possible, and we have done several deployments in this context.
However, the current version of SCOM you are running, is not supported running in a virtual machine in Windows Azure. You must at least be running 2012 Service Pack 1, but I recommend to go for 2012 R2 - and also WS 2012 R2 as the base OS.
For more information, see this KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2721672/en-us
My best advice when it comes to a scenario like this, is to run a PoC in order to understand the networking requirements and potential challenges.

Can Oracle VM create a virtual machine which have 4 CPUs ?
This is a kind of HPC (High Performance Computing ) .
    Is it possible ?
