Invisible Lines showing on Export

Hello,
I have done quite a bit of research before posting this however if I missed an article about it feel free to link me. I have designed artwork that uses lots of colors and lines. Everything was pretty much designed with lines and shapes and then I used live paint to paint in certain sections. The artwork looks perfect when exported as a GIF and it appears fine in Illustrator. The problem happens when I export the document as a PDF. When I export it as a PDF, tiny white lines show up where I have invisible lines in Illustrator. These invisible lines were put there in the first place so I could have set regions for the live paint without them showing. I'm not sure why they are showing up when I export.
I have tried multiple PDF settings and also tried flattening the layers and attempting to use Transparency Flattener Presets and export it as a PDF 1.3 but it is still greyed out in the export options when I try.
I've attached a screenshot of the PDF after it has been exported to see the lines. You will notice black lines and thicker white lines (like the one at the top), these are intentional. the ones that are undesired is the thin one near the bottom whre you can see theres a break point in color and then multiple ones going up. Deleting these with live paint selection, expanding the art, using direct selection tool to delete all ruin the art flow or do not work.

How it looks in illustrator:
Thanks!

They appear at any zoom.
The last one is how it appears in Illustrator.
These are going to be printed for cover art and more material but as of now I need a nice PDF to send out so it can be zoomed in.
Interesting enough, I just checked on another computer using Adobe Acrobat Reader, and to your point they do not show up. So it appears they are only showing up when I view the PDF on my Mac using Preview. I also viewed it in Safari and Chrome and they showed up there as well.

  • Invisible lines showing and Disappearing in InDesign when Printed

This problem does not happen in Adobe CS4 products and I recently switched to Adobe CS6 indesign and photoshop. I keep running to many problems (well its more than when I worked with CS4 products).
I'm asking this because clients keep sending me horrible 72 dpi rasterized files. How do I deal with it if the program deals with this differently?
I know this has been asked before I think but what if the files are coming from the client's side?
The left circle is the original pdf file the client has sent me. The right circle is when I placed the file in Indesign CS6.
Except that the logo is rasterized. The rest is vector.
The left is rasterized, exported from indesign using 100 dpi. Usually my customers send in files that are 72 dpi. And then I have to manually create bleeds on them. The right is an exported pdf.

What are you expecting? The original files you're getting are not suitable for print.
that said, how are you outputting these files?

  • Dotted line is not exported correctly form Indesign to pdf

My dotted lines do not export as exactly round dots but with kind of "erroded" outlines. Has anyone encountered the same problem yet? How can I solve it? I used the "export for high res print preset". Thanx!

With "manually", Bob meant you cannot do it in InDesign (which must make it as good as 'manual', in his opinion ).
Using Acrobat Pro, all you have to do is open the PDF and start the Forms Wizard. It's the top item under the Forms menu. You'll be amazed at how well it does:
All I did was start the wizard and hit "OK"!
(hey! that image was supposed to end up inbetween! jive editor showing a tantrum, again.)

  • REALLY Mysterious Gray Lines on Every Export (pictures)

I'm working on a video that contains a white background, and the client's background is also pure white. Every export I give him has a gray vertical line showing on the left and right borders of the video. We've narrowed down every possible cause, and it comes back to me.
Here's a picture blown up 1600% of the gray line:
I moved the video over a couple pixels:
It exists with every export that I do. .MOV, MPG2, etc. The gray bar won't go away. I tried scaling it up and re-rendering, but the gray bar still exists.
    Any ideas?
I'm also on CS4 (the forum there wouldn't let me post). I'd really appreciate any experience you can offer with this.

Everything was exported from AE as .AVI uncompressed, the sequence is 1080p, 29.97, and I've tried almost every export format, typically at 12Mbps.
I found out that the issue only exists on a 1080 export, but the same format in 720 (exact same settings besides size) does not have the gray lines. With other videos, the color (not pure white) distracts from these lines, but with a pure white background, the lines exist as like a half gradient on the left and right sides... but not the top and bottom.
I understand how crazy it sounds, but it exists with every single 1080 render I've done. Could this be a CS4 issue, and I should just upgrade?
    Thanks for your consideration.

  • Boundary lines show in PDF

I hope this is the right place to post this. If not, would someone tell me the best forum on which to post it?
Some of my finished PDFs have boundary lines showing around--or sometimes even within--text boxes filled with color. The files were created in InDesign CS4 (same problem happened with CS3, however), and I've tried making PDFs all three ways (using the utility within ID, using Acrobat Pro 9, or using Distiller 9). I can eliminate the lines around the text box by using the "create outlines" command, but nothing I do in ID takes away any lines that appear within the text box.
I have also tried using different PDF creation settings (X1-a, standard, high quality, etc.). "Standard" and "Smallest file size" take away the lines.
Any suggestions and/or explanations would be much appreciated!

My feeling is that LSI (and many other printers) specify Distiller PDF
as their only legitimate source because it's easier for them to specify
and support one (pretty good, BTW) source. They don't want to have to
test, support, and specify all of the many different PDF sources. If it
was a matter of choosing between Distiller and Indesign, they would
probably choose Indesign, but books are made in many other programs,
some of which have PDF export capability, and Distiller has quite a few
competitors as well (Jaws is the one that I can remember, but there are
quite a few others, some of which are pretty cheesy).

  • Transform Guides Show on Exported Movie

Hello!  I'm working on a short video project using a chroma screen and a talking head.  For some reason, when I relocate the video image and export the file, I am apparently also exporting the guide lines in the final video.  Any ideas on how to hide the guide lines in the final video?  I've turned the transform tool off, but still see the guide lines in the exported file.  I haven't run into this problem before, but I'm under the gun/deadline, and not sure where to turn for help....  Any ideas?  Thanks...

Thanks for your help!  I'm using the latest versions of OSX 10.9 and Final Cut Pro X....
Here is a shot from FCPX showing project setup.  Notice the safe zones are on and the transform tool is on as well.  .
Next you can see safe zones off and transform tool still on...
And lastly, Here is the image with safe zones off and transform tool deselected.  When I export the project as a master file, the white lines where the transform tool had outlined the clip location are also visable in the final QT movie....

  • In Mail, the "From" line shows the wrong name associated with the email id. How do I update it?

In Mail, the "From" line shows the wrong name associated with my email ID. I've looked over preferences and account information but have not found where I can update it.

There isn't an email address associated with the contact name who appears as the "from" in Mail. It used to be a shared email address and I already had updated the contact to list only the phone number in case that was causing the problem.

  • Thin white lines showing around shapes

When I open a logo created in Illustrator in other programs such as acrobat or photoshop there are thin white lines showing around every object! Even on the inside of the surronding lines of an area colored using the live paint bucket (black area surrounden by black lines). I see no lines in Illustrator and there is no "stroke" on these objects (only fill). I have tried to save it to different formats (ai, eps and pdf because I want to keep it vectorized) but it doesn´t help. What can I do?

They don't print. Search the Knowledgebase for "stitching" for an explanation.

  • Choppy playback, when render line showing gray (niether green or red).

    Hello,
Initially the render line shows red and gray in some parts. When I render the movie the red sections do turn green, but the gray portions remain gray. Playback is fine while in the green areas, but stalls and becomes extremely choppy when passing over the gray areas (I've posted a phicture to help make my explaination a little clearer). Does anyone know a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Nadine.

    Vid_2011
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Without further information, there is nothing to fix. See explanation to follow.
The area of the Timeline over which the green line appears tells me that you
    (a) edited original video which presented with no color line and the edit forced the red line which you "rendered" to green.
    (b) Or, you had content that imported originally to present with the red line over the content and you rendered to green.
A video properties and project preset mismatch.
What are the properties of the Timeline over which your "gray" no colored line situation exists? At face value, they could be imported media that imported with no colored line over their contents, and you have not edited yet. Please detail the situation so we know the real situation.
    Just in case recap....
no colored line over Timeline content (only seen on first drag before edit of content) when native format and project preset is set to match the properties of the source media. The program is telling you that you have the best possible preview. So, no rendering is needed or possible. If you edit this type, the indicator line turns red and rendering/edits/rendering thereafter involve only red green changes, no more no colored line.
green line over Timeline...you have the best possible preview, no rendering is needed or possible.
in versions earlier than 11, red line indicates need for Timeline rendering to get the best possible preview. After the Timeline rendering, the red line turns green with all the implications stated above.
In versions 11 and 12, the red Timeline render indicator is no longer and now is an orange line.
Please review and consider and please get back to us with more details as to what is in the tracks below the render indicator lines.
    Thank you.

Please repost this to the appropriate InDesign forum. Your question has nothing to do with the "PDF Language and Specifications" but rather, issues associated with flattening transparency within InDesign and yielding a suboptimal PDF file.

  • Invisible Layers Showing Up When Publishing

I'm using Captivate 5 and the layers that I have made invisible are showing up when I publish the file. Does anyone know how to correct this? I make the layers invisible by clicking the eye icon on the layer. The red X shows up, but the layer is still visible when the file is published. The layer is not visible when I preview the slide, however. I don't see any options or preferences to adjust this.

Hello and welcome on the forum,
This is a common misunderstanding: setting a layer to invisible on the Timeline is only meant for editing reasons, not to hide the object. One example: if several objects are in the same place and you want to edit the one that is down in the stack order, hide those above. It has however no result when publishing. So your 'issue' is expected behavior. If you want to hide objects, you have to set them to invisible in the Properties panel, uncheck the option 'Visible' in the upper part.
I explained the functionalities of the Timeline in a dedicated blog post, if you like to have a look, here is the link:

  • Black lines show up on final print

In CS4 when ever I save to PDF and try to print my document these horizontal black lines show up.  They are most notable around areas with varying transparency.
This happen to anyone else? Any ideas?

Is your print head clean and are you using the right paper? Sounds like it's simply spitting too much ink on the paper and it smears... also reset your printer driver settings, if you used some "Saturation" tweaks. This will increase the amount of ink used and further the issue.
