Invisible path showing

Hi
Trying to make a shadow in a hole (dont laugh) (hehe)
I do the following, create compund path and use fx to make a drop shadow:
then I mask the image:
Blue line is selected with drop shadow object and I make a mask. But the result is looking like this:
Additional info - the mask does not have a stroke or fill - I am using CS5
Also the "fake outline" differs with diffferent magnification.
Bad news- it also outputs to web that way.
I suspect this has to do with pdf-compatability somehow? - since I have experienced pdf to emphasize very thin lines or small objects.

I got the same result as the OP
and I simply select the mask with the direct select tool and added a stroke of 2 points that eliminated the lines
I cannot find a cause for this nor any other remedy.
But thus is what you get with the added stroke to the mask.
You can also copy the circle and apply and paste in front and then use that as the clipping mask
which gives you interesting options.

Invisible Layers Showing Up When Publishing

I'm using Captivate 5 and the layers that I have made invisible are showing up when I publish the file. Does anyone know how to correct this? I make the layers invisible by clicking the eye icon on the layer. The red X shows up, but the layer is still visible when the file is published. The layer is not visible when I preview the slide, however. I don't see any options or preferences to adjust this.

This is a common misunderstanding: setting a layer to invisible on the Timeline is only meant for editing reasons, not to hide the object. One example: if several objects are in the same place and you want to edit the one that is down in the stack order, hide those above. It has however no result when publishing. So your 'issue' is expected behavior. If you want to hide objects, you have to set them to invisible in the Properties panel, uncheck the option 'Visible' in the upper part.

OM evaluation path showing chief position and subordinates

Hi experts, is there any standard OM evaluation path showing the reporting structure in Org chart like this?

if there is no standard evaluation path, do I need to create extra relationship like S A002 Chief to every position??
What else solution would you suggest??

Your drawing (and last message) indicates a relationship between O and "Chief" and between "Chief" and S (Position). As others have mentioned, this is not SAP standard - and to me it doesn't make sense either. The chief position (A12 relationship) and the regular positions (A003 relationship) all belong to the same org.units don't they?
For your need you would actually have to create your own "Chief" object type, make your own relations and your own evaluation paths. I would strongly advise against this. What is the business need for this requirement?
In PPOME you can move the manager (chief) position so it is the first position in the in the Org.Unit. This will give a better visual of the org.sturcture. Also, check the priority field in the relationship, and check the documentation for this.

Page paths show root level when page published as portlet

I use pages that simply work as repositories and which are published to the root page in the same page group as portlets. When these repository pages have sub pages I add a region with a page path for users to navigate within each page hierarchy.
When the pages are published as portlets and placed on the root page of the page group, the page path shows the root page as the first level of the path (root : repospage : reposSubPage1 : reposSubPage11).
This is confusing as it always seems that there is one more level above the top level when in fact reposPage is the top level.
I want to have the underlying repository page as the top level of the path. How do I do this?

The page path always shows the root page of the page group.
You can try building your own page path in a PL/SQL item. The function:
wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('_pageid','a')will return the value of the pageid parameter in the page URL (the second parameter is used by portlets and is ignored when used in a PL/SQL item). You can use this value to find the parent page in the WWSBR_ALL_FOLDERS view. By using a cursor loop (I recommend this over a connect by query against this view), you can walk up the tree to get the entire path. The root page will always have an id of 1.
One caveat - getting the pageid from the wwpro_api_parameters.get_value function may not work in future versions of Portal.
Also, you'll need 9.0.2.6 or later for the WWSBR_ALL_FOLDERS view.

Invisible Lines showing on Export

Hello,
I have done quite a bit of research before posting this however if I missed an article about it feel free to link me. I have designed artwork that uses lots of colors and lines. Everything was pretty much designed with lines and shapes and then I used live paint to paint in certain sections. The artwork looks perfect when exported as a GIF and it appears fine in Illustrator. The problem happens when I export the document as a PDF. When I export it as a PDF, tiny white lines show up where I have invisible lines in Illustrator. These invisible lines were put there in the first place so I could have set regions for the live paint without them showing. I'm not sure why they are showing up when I export.
I have tried multiple PDF settings and also tried flattening the layers and attempting to use Transparency Flattener Presets and export it as a PDF 1.3 but it is still greyed out in the export options when I try.
I've attached a screenshot of the PDF after it has been exported to see the lines. You will notice black lines and thicker white lines (like the one at the top), these are intentional. the ones that are undesired is the thin one near the bottom whre you can see theres a break point in color and then multiple ones going up. Deleting these with live paint selection, expanding the art, using direct selection tool to delete all ruin the art flow or do not work.

They appear at any zoom.
The last one is how it appears in Illustrator.
These are going to be printed for cover art and more material but as of now I need a nice PDF to send out so it can be zoomed in.
Interesting enough, I just checked on another computer using Adobe Acrobat Reader, and to your point they do not show up. So it appears they are only showing up when I view the PDF on my Mac using Preview. I also viewed it in Safari and Chrome and they showed up there as well.

Invisible Items Showing

I'm not sure how or when this happened, but I have 3 alias's [to folders] showing that shouldn't be. They should be hidden. I believe that that are core/UNIX folders. They are: "var", "tmp" and "etc". How can I hide them as they should be? Would simply putting a "." in front of them resolve this or would it lead to problems later? I also have a folder called "OSInstall.mpkg.112bYrsII" showing, this isn't an alias.

They seem to be mostly ".installplan" files within that folder, whatever those are. Some seem to be for printers like "CanonPrinterDrivers.installplan" etc. and others like "mail.installplan", "iCal.installplan", "Safari.installplan" etc. Then there are a few files with the extention ".delete", like iCal.delete", "Additional Fonts.delete" etc. And also within that folder is a folder called "Receipts" that has two files in it: "AdditionalFonts.pkg"and OSInstall.mpkg". These all see to be Apple supplied/system files. Outside of the two in the subfolder the others have blank icons and have no application that can open them.
The is no "Contents" folder or files called "Info.plist" and "version.plist".

Unwanted paths showing after cropping to make a repeat pattern tile.

I'm trying to make a repeat pattern tile (using CS5 on Windows 7), but when I crop the pattern, the expanded paths underneath become visible as on the flowers below.
This is what I did after creating the artwork:
Used the rectangle tool to make a box with fill/stroke directly on top of the artboard..
Select all > Expand (selecting stroke only, not fill)
Deselect the cropping box and grouped the remaining objects.
Reselected the cropping box and grouped all objects
Pathfinder > Crop
I'm guessing it may have something to do with the fact I used a gradient on the flowers but have no idea how to resolve it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
PS. Please excuse me if this explanation is really poorly worded...I've only ever used Illustrator for fashion technical sketches so my knowledge is pretty limited.

Followed your advice above, and hopefully it will work. The only issue is it's a bit time consuming they way I'm doing it, as I'm having to delete the outermost objects first, then delete any objects which are partially inside the rectangle, otherwise I find some of the objects inside the rectangle are deleted too:
At the moment for the objects that are partially inside the box, I'm using the scissors tool to cut the path where it crosses the rectangle. Is there an easier solution to this problem?

Invalid Path Showing Up

I am converting 8.5 reports to 11.5. When I try to run the new report it is asking me for a username and password to an old path. The old path is listed and if I delete the path, then I can view my report.
I have looked in the set datasource locations, and there is not any hardcoded paths in the report or subreports. Is there any other place that a path could be stored? I copied several formulas from my 8.5 report, but I don't see anything related to a path in them either.

1.Reports are based off which database and what is the type of connection that you are using
The reports use a Access/Excel (DAO) connection. The way the program that uses the reports works is there is a job folder with a database called OverDrivePro.mdb in the folder. All of the reports are also stored in this folder. The reports should not have a path and should only be told to open OverdrivePro.mdb.When I run the new report to view it with the 11.5 viewer an Access/Excel (DAO) screen pops up asking for the Database Name, Username, password... The database name is filled in with an old path from an old machine.
meh\Koch MV Library\Jobs\80102\ManufacturingData\OverdrivePro.mdb. If I delete everything in the database name except the OverdrivePro.mdb and hit the Finish button, the report opens up.
2.Are you converting the reports from 8.5 to 11.5 on the same machine with the same environment.
No I had sent the reports to someone else to convert them because I had ran into this same issue when I tried to remake them in 11.5.
3. Are you able to create a brand new report on the desired database.
Yes, I have other 11.5 reports that work fine with this database.

Hiding current page only seems to make invisible or shows view of master page?

I have a button that is as follows:-
runs a few validation checks blah blah then ......

So on click it goes to page 3 - that's fine, but it only seems to set the current page to invisible, as it leaves behind a blank page/master page to view?
I have tried to include
xfa.layout.relayout();
but this has no effect.
If i place a similiar button hiding Page1 outside Page1 then there is no problem, it hides and is taken right out of the form as i am hoping with the button sitting inside page1.

Rick, thanks for thinking of that setting; however, we've already left "Fade Out on the Last Slide" de-selected, so that's not the issue.
It seems that on the last slide, the "rest of project" objects endure only for the number of seconds of that slide; for example, if a slide's duration is set to 3 seconds, the "rest of project" objects fade away after 3 seconds; however, nothing else on the page fades away; that is, the images and captions set to "rest of slide" continue to display.

Imported web app image file path shows no picture

I am trying to import a file path into the image (type) field of a web app, but the image does not appear on page. If I go into the web app item, do nothing but click 'update', the image will appear on page.
I have tried importing using Auto-Detect, Comma delimited (CSV), and Tab delimited with the same result. I have exported the .CSV from Numbers (app), and tried copy/paste into TextEdit for Tab delimited. Text is UTF-8.
Is there some trick to getting the import of a file path to work? Do I need to escape the "/" in the file path (ie. /_assets/images/<filename> to \/_assets/images/<filename> )?

As I am still testing this web app, I uploaded an image through dreamweaver, then went to the web app, clicked the 'select image' link next to the Image field, and continued to fill in the other info.
Once that was done -- so I had one example web app item in the spreadsheet -- I exported the template, filled it in with additional data, and imported in the various ways described. I am only using the one image. http://mainedreamvacation.businesscatalyst.com/specials
I get this image visible on page, I had to go in and update each web app item. Tedious for testing; impractical otherwise.

Website paths showing root level log in via ssh and not the specific spot?

Hello, I have three sites on 10.5 server. Most of it in house use but when logging in or mounting for example archive.ota.com via terminal it brings you to the root level / of my server. The webfolder is set on my raid array for example /Volumes/website1/archive where I would hope it would bring you as home directory? The specific user set up has that as the home directory but still mounts higher up? Is this a permissions thing? Home directory maybe? Not sure what I am missing. I am rusty on this I admit. Thanks

I was having the same issue with Eclipse. If I launched an xterm and then ran eclipse it worked fine but as a published application, it would die after showing the Eclipse splash screen for a second. Adding the ampersand to the end of the launch command fixed it. Strange.
Thanks for following up your post with the fix. I don't think backgrounding the process from the SGD launcher would have ever occurred to me.

Exporting PDFs to EPS files without masks or invisible paths to release or deal with.

We send files to a CAD department which has issues with masks and paths which can't be seen in Acrobat, nor Illustrator unless in preview mode, and which cause problems when programming.
In other words, is there a function in distiller or acrobat or Illustrator which can provide a file using a plugin or flattener (preset) which gives me a vector file with just the black as seen on screen and no other vectors? Usually the PDF file is vector to begin with.
I've tried opening in Photoshop and get what I need but the file is sooooo big it is not very easy to manage.
We're Mac OS 10.6 based CS4 on the front end with very old cad software at the end. We have to save as AI/EPS 8.

Here is one way,
open the PDF in Illustrator, make a new layer, select the desired path(s) and move them to the new layer (drag the little box from the old layer to the new), delete the old layer(s). Save as .eps

Invisible lines showing and Disappearing in InDesign when Printed

This problem does not happen in Adobe CS4 products and I recently switched to Adobe CS6 indesign and photoshop. I keep running to many problems (well its more than when I worked with CS4 products).
I'm asking this because clients keep sending me horrible 72 dpi rasterized files. How do I deal with it if the program deals with this differently?
I know this has been asked before I think but what if the files are coming from the client's side?
The left circle is the original pdf file the client has sent me. The right circle is when I placed the file in Indesign CS6.
Except that the logo is rasterized. The rest is vector.
The left is rasterized, exported from indesign using 100 dpi. Usually my customers send in files that are 72 dpi. And then I have to manually create bleeds on them. The right is an exported pdf.

What are you expecting? The original files you're getting are not suitable for print.
that said, how are you outputting these files?

Problem Blog Manager in sitebuilder invisible but show when published

I have a Yola website. When in my sitebuilder on a Blog page and want to edit my post in my Blog Manager I cannot see the actual post (text or images) most of the time. Sometimes they appear on start up, but if I come out and go back in it disappears again. So I cannot see the text to know where I can place my cursor to do any editing. NOTE: I CAN see and edit the same blogs with no trouble in Internet Explorer 8 though. Very strange. I have checked and rechecked to make sure I don't have bad code or text copied from Word... I try to always use Notepad for any copy and paste text. ect. Hope you can help. Blessings, Jan.

I am guessing two things:
1. You created the folio and uploaded to id [email protected] Then you shared with [email protected]
What is the Title id mentioned in DPS App builder. If it's [email protected], it will not work.
2. Do you have multiple folios with the same product id.

WPC: dropped iView is invisible and show red ("broken") assigment

we are running NW7 SP14 and checking out WPC features.
Trying to embed PDC iViews in I get an error: the container becomes flat after dropping the iView onto it and no more action for this container will be possible.
Executing "Check assignment" will display the iView link in red state with a paper basket symbol. Pressing the basket symbol the iview will be removed from container an editiinng will be again possible.
The given guid for the iview is valid (e.g. wpc_iview_a1@/guid/308c1ee3-b5c5-2a10-18a9-82766f6fde2d). I am able to launch it in a single window using http://<portalserver>:<serverport>//irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/guid/<guid>
AFAIK all initial config tasks for WPC should have been done.
Is there someone who had this problem before and solved it?

Hi Thorsten,
Is the ice_service user configured to access the PCD with at least end user permissions?
A quick check is to add the super_admin_role to the ice_service user and see if it works. If so then the ice_service needs to be added to a group (e.g. the Everyone group) which is then assigned enduser access to the iViews/areas of the PCD you want to use in the WPC (and the super admin role removed).
