Invisible selections and paths photoshop CS5

Hello, could you help me please ?
My new Photoshop is unusable : selections and paths are invisible until they are not closed or finished.
It seems to be a display problem - though all my softwares and drivers are updated - because when I move my image out then in the screen limits (possible with space bar during a lasso selection), selections and paths already done do appear.
Here the same problem described by somebody else :

  • Unwanted invisible selections and paths-CS5 Photoshop

I have worked successfully to create visible selections and paths in a CS5 Photoshop document.
I however just created a document that I can not see the "dancing ants" on selections (marquee or lasso) and when I click to create points for a path they are invisible. They all however show up when I complete the selection/close the path. This makes it impossible to use selection tools or the pen tool. I cannot figure out what I did in this document to activate such an issue, and when opening a new document selections and paths ARE visible.
Any ideas? I'm a teacher starting in 3 weeks and am sure I will have a student run into this issue.
    Thank you for your help.

I am looking to purchase and download photoshop cs5 education version direct from adobe australia. However i would like to know if once i have downloaded whether i am able to install it on both my computers imac and macbook pro? Or am i limited to the activation code only working once?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, the US EULA allows for 2 installs of the software. I do not know if the Australian EULA is differnt.

  • What do i need to uninstall and reinstall photoshop cs5 extended windows 7 32-bit?

what do i need to uninstall and reinstall photoshop cs5 extended windows 7 32-bit?

Photoshop CS5 Extended suddenly stopped recognizing my NVIDIA 3D card (NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M). No 3D graphics will work in Photoshop. An Adobe online tech worked with me on it for about an hour. We concluded that I would go try to update the NVIDIA driver. The NVIDIA website is frustrating. The boxes to input my card model and system do not work.
Nawang uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop (my question below was about how to do that, but he did it for me and that did not help.)
My card is 3D capable. I used Repousse 3D effect two days ago and it worked fine. Now it is not working, all 3D controls are grayed out.

  • Is there a way to edit the same RAW file in Aperture 3 and then Photoshop CS5?

I recently got Aperture 3.4.5 and its been great for stream-lining my workflow.  But for certain RAW adjustments, like applying a gradient, I want to use Photoshop CS5's RAW editing window.  I don't seem to be able to export the file as a modified CR2 from Aperture to Photoshop CS5.  Is there a way to do this?
And if exporting a modified CR2 from aperture is not possible, what advice can you give me for applying gradients in aperture, or in combinations with photoshop.  Is there a way to open a JPEG or TIFF in the raw editing window by any chance?
Any and all advice welcome.  Cheers!
    -Mike

Is there a way to open a JPEG or TIFF in the raw editing window by any chance?
If you open Bridge and go into the Camera Raw Preferences, you will see a section at the bottom where you can set preferences for TIFF handling. Setting the option to 'Automatically open all supported TIFFs' will result in any TIFF file sent from Aperture to Photoshop via 'Edit with Photoshop CS5' function being launched in ACR and allow you to work on the TIFF file.
You then have to open the image in Photoshop with the 'Open' button in ACR and save the file (making sure you have the TIFF file extension set when saving). I haven't used this in a while, but I think it may try to save as a '.tif' file which would not be seen by Aperture when you complete the save (and have a '.tif' file sitting in the Masters folder that has no connection).
This is still not the RAW file - obviously - but will allow you to use the ACR tools on the TIFF file generated by Aperture and return it with those edits if saved correctly in PS CS5.

  • Problems with the graphic card and adobe photoshop cs5

    hello,
i installed adobe photoshop cs5 for my sisters computer:
    specifications:
    Prozessor: AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T Six-Core Prozessor(3,2GHz, 9MB Cache)
Festplatte: 2x 1 TB SATA II
    Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB DDR3
    Grafikkarten: VGA PCI-Express ATI Radeon™ HD5870 1GB GDDR5 (2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) x 2 (2 von der sorte)
    Sound: 7.1 support
    Netzwerk: Gbit LAN
    Software: Windows® 7 Home Premium,
    Schnittstellen/Anschlüsse: Gehäuse-Front: Mic., Audio, 2xUSB 2.0, Front MCR, 1x Firewire, 1x eSATA Gehäuse-Rückseite: 8x USB 2.0, 2x USB3.0, 2x
    Firewire, 2x eSATA, 2x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x Gbit LAN, 2x SPDIF, 6x Audio
    Besonderheiten: 80 Watt Netzteil
as you can see, absolute new hardware...
now photoshop tells her that her graphic card wouldnt fit the requirements, and allways switches to "software-sides" rendering.
this can't be true, this mashine is running hardchore grafic apps, and has the newest ATI Raedon Gra-Card (2 of them) which even now has a native support for open GL.
the computer has all latest drivers (no newer versions available)
    so what to do?
i can't even tell photoshop manually in the settings to enable open GL...
i defenitally reached the end of my knowledge here.. i tried everything, also changing (as suggested by photoshop) the open GL settings of the graphic card card. no changes ...
    need help with this one..
thank you already for your time and hopefully help

  • NVIDIA Geforce 9400M and Adobe Photoshop/CS5 question

Adobe states that their new software, due to ship April 30, will require a "... qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color, and 256MB of VRAM"
Does the 9400M on the base model iMac and many other models including laptops, offer hardware acceleration to OpenGL?
If I want to buy a new computer to run CS5, do I HAVE to buy the better models that do not have the 9400M? I'm sure the better model (with ATI Radeon HD 4670) would be better, but is it an absolute requirement? Adobe is not sure which models are qualified. I've been making a list of Intel based Macs that surely won't run CS5. A demo version is forthcoming to find out for ourselves. Any hardware geeks or engineers with tech info?

Hi, this is a what I found out: The respective hardware is listed here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/831/cpsid_83117.html
With my white Macbook 4.1 I have no problems to use all features of the regulard Photoshop CS5. Even when running on 2 monitors (I do the actual work on a 23" Apple Display and use the MacBook for my tools)
Even a test with Photoshop Extended CS5 version has worked out but with lousy performance. In case there are people out who like to know, what can be done with OpenGL ... Adobe is great in hiding stuff:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html#updating
Further information can be found here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html
Also a lot information can be found in the 600+ pages Manual. This is also pretty much hidden. You need to activate the onlin help and than click the text in the upper right corner which read something like "Show Help-PDF (38MB)" ... the wording in German is "Hilfe-PDF anzeigen (38MB)
    Or you download it here:
    http://help.adobe.com/enUS/photoshop/cs/using/photoshop_cs5help.pdf
    http://help.adobe.com/deDE/photoshop/cs/using/photoshop_cs5help.pdf
There is, however, a big problem as soon as several applications use OpenGL. In my case it is EyeTV. I can either view live TV or record it. I cannot do both. Neither can I view a recorded Clip in EyeTV. For me as a non-professional it appears, that OpenGL allows a program to do TWO things at a time which can only be done, if the storage (RAM) is separated). Since Photoshop and EyeTV fight for the same spaces only one can be on first. And Photoshop seems to dominate... the normal view of the picture is produced by the regular chip while the bells and whistles a supported by the graphic chip. EyeTV may even freeze.
By the way, there is an option, to stop EyeTV (and probably other programs too) from using OpenGL.
    http://support.elgato.com/index.php?m=knowledgebase&a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=3097
It works i.e. the basics like viewing and recording works but I have decided to use always only one OpenGL-program at a given time.
Last comment - though you did not ask: I have marked under "Finder Information" to open in 32-Bit modus. The program as such works also without this mark but plug-ins like those from NIK-software do not work yet. Their updates are coming:
    http://www.niksoftware.com/support/usa/entry.php?view=faqs/generalanswers.shtml#CS5compatibility
I will post my question on a related issue separately = will an increase of the graphic memory to 512MB guarantee better performance or it it also a question, how OSX 10.6 manages the split various memory chips?

  • Downloading and reinstalling Photoshop CS5 Extended?

I had to uninstall Photoshop CS5 Extended because it was missing files. I have the original installation disk and my serial number but my disk drive on my computer is broken (or the installation disk may be corrupted). Is there a way I can download Photoshop CS5 Extended, install it and then add my serial number? TIA
    Regards

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • Problems with selection marquee in Photoshop CS5.5 on MacBook Pro with Hi-Res Display

A few months ago i bought a 15" MacBook Pro with the hi-res display (not retina display...just the higher res display offered prior to the release of the retina display).
I'm having trouble with Photoshop and selection marquees. In particular, anytime I make a selection while viewing the image at 100% zoom level (so, actual pixels), the "marching ants" selection marquee I draw always shifts over a few pixels after I draw it.
So I'll make a precise rectangular marquee around an object, and it will look right, until I release the button on my mouse. The moment I release the mouse button, the marquee shifts over a few pixels in both directions (vertically and horizontally).
This has never happened on any version of Photoshop or on any Mac I've ever used before (and I've been using Photoshop for a LONG time on LOTS of different Macs), so I can only assume it has something to do with the Hi-Res display. This same version of Photoshop works just fine on my previous MacBook Pro laptop. But after installing it on the new MacBook, immediately - and consistently, every time - it happens.
If I zoom in and use the tool, it doesn't have the problem. It seems to only occur when viewing at 100% (which is usually for me), but it does do it EVERY TIME I use the rectangular marque tool.
It's driving me a little bit batty.
    Anyone else?

An update...I had thought to try changing the Open GL settings, but it didn't seem to make any difference. However, I hadn't realized that you need to restart Photoshop for changes made to the Open GL preferences to take effect, so I wasn't actually changing anything.
Turns out, it's an Open GL drawing issue - and disabling it fixes the problem.
Of course, you also lose all of the other enhancements that come from enabling Open GL drawing.
I'm only leaving this discussion up in case anyone else with the same problem stumbles across the issue.

  • Zoom issue when using selection tool in Photoshop CS5

Hi, i have a macbook pro with a multi touch trackpad. For some reason when i'm using the selection tool and i try zooming in or out using the multi touch track pad nothing happens or sometimes it takes forever for anything to take place. Other times, i have to resort to using the keypad to zoom in or out.
what could be causing this issue as it is really slowing me down

Hi - thanks for your comments. It was happening on all of the selection tools however I have solved the problem by changing the 'Advanced Graphics Processor Setting' to 'Basic' in Photoshop CC.
    Thanks anyway

  • Photoshop Help | 3D rendering and saving (Photoshop CS5 Extended)

I'm aware of the pop-up menus. I don't know that they relate to final, Ray Traced rendering. I think they relate only to Open GL rendering, that is, how the 3D object is displayed in real-time. I think they are more useful as a means to see how the 3D object is built.
The best way to discover what the options do is to try them. I find Points set to "Constant", and Lines set to "Constant", "Flat" and "Bounding Box" will appear in raytraced renderings. There doesn't seem to be an option to anti-alias lines and points, unfortunately.
I also don't know how the CS6 Surface, Lines and Points menus relate to the CS5 Face, Edge or Vertex options.
These menus contain the same items in CS6 as in CS5, plus a few new Surface styles. However, CS6 uses the words Surface, Line and Point instead of their CS5 synonyms Face, Edge and Vertex.
As for the High Quality Threshold option...that applies only to the Ray-Traced render and it is a feature in both CS5 and CS6.
    Yes.
What I'm curious about is what happened to Face, Edge, and Vertex. It appears they have been rearanged and put in the Surface, Lines and Points menus but I'm not sure why and what their functionality is (if any) in terms of the final render.
They were renamed possibly because many users will be newcomers to 3D and unfamiliar with the more mathematical terms. Their functionality doesn't seem to have changed from CS5 to CS6. Try them and see.
And I'm wondering what happened to the Render Settings -- Interactive, Ray-Traced Draft, and Ray Traced Final -- and why they were removed (or tucked away in some hard-to-find location) in CS6.
Ray Traced Draft is no more, Interactive is the interactive OpenGL mode where you arrange the scene and/or paint on the models. Ray Traced Final is now simply Render.
Play around with the software to learn what it does.

  • T410 Graphics Driver and Adobe Photoshop CS5

Adobe suggest that nvidia graphic card use version 197(or higher than that) driver for hardware accelerated graphics.
but the driver for 3100M is 189.55.Is there any solution for that?
When using Photoshop, the Desktop manager always crash now.

if you use the official nvidia driver, but you will lose the sound out on the displayport.
Lenovo's driver always lag the latest driver by one to two generation.
