Invisible shield and iphone dock

Hi. Can someone pls help me? I was thinking of buying an invisible shield for my new iphone 3G to keep it looking great. However, I am a bit worried that if I fit a shield to it, it will not fit in the dock. Does anybody have an invisible shield on their iphone and can you tell me if it can still fit in the dock?

I put the full body invisible shield on mine. I did drop it from the back of a parked car onto the street. I was sure that there would be damage, but there is not even a dent to the shield.
I really recommend it, but take time with the installation if you are worried about perfection. The bubbles NEVER seem to work their way out if you do not get them out during installation. It is better to remove it immediately and reapply if there are too many bubbles.
I do, however, highly recommend it, especially compared to some other screen protectors which seem to come off over time, and are hard to apply correctly. The invisible shield can be slid around while still wet, which is great if you have huge, fumbling, sausage fingers like me.

  • Invisible Shield and 3G dock?

Does anyone know if a 3G iPhone with an Invisible Shield will fit in an Apple iPhone 3G Dock?

I've had them on a few devices over the years and have managed to achieve a pretty good finish. Just set aside an hour to do it as you need patience to get the back and corners to go well as it is best to leave them for a bit to allow them to get "sticky" before fixing them.

  • Water under the screen while applying the invisible shield

I was applying the full body invisible shield and since it was difficult to apply the back(as suggested by every one) I did it one night switched the phone off all the time and the next morning it was fine and i loved it as it was looking good and on top of it it was protecting the back side of the phone.
The next night i applied the front side(supposed to be the easy side and child's play) and to my annoyance when I switched the phone back on in the morning there was water(? solution for applying the screen protector)under the screen. The screen looks awful
The ringer volume plays up now and switching on the phone is a bit cumbersome as it plays (sometimes in one go sometimes I have to use the home button and the power button together).
My phone is new ,bought on the 2nd of April 2010 and what do I do now? will apple warranty cover this?

Apple will not cover any moisture damage to the iPhone.
You can see if the moisture sensors are tripped or not. If they are then you are out of luck on warranty, no questions asked. Here is Apple's support document of inspecting the moisture sensors...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3302
If the sensors are not tripped, Apple would probably not cover the iPhone under warranty if there is visible signs of water (or liquid) behind the screen. If the button problems are not that bad, then you could switch the iPhone off and place in a bag of dry rice. It might help draw out some of liquid from the screen.
Personally I would stay away from anything that requires liquid to install. If done wrong it can kill the phone, which may be the case here. You can still make an appointment at an Apple store to look into an out of warranty replacement, which would get you a refurbished iPhone for a flat rate. The other option would be to check to see if there are any local third party repair centers. They may be cheaper than the out of warranty replacement, but at the same time could be more.

  • The Zagg Invisible Shield~Recommended or Not?

Just curious how many people use the invisible shield and if you would recommend it or not for the Iphone 4? I have never used one on my 3G. Only used silicone cases for protection. Just wondering if others liked it an if it's hard to install having to use the spray etc? I fear getting this liquid solution in the speaker etc. Thanks in advance!

I also recommend it for the back only, the texture of the material takes away from the whole touch screen experience. ZAGG makes some awesome skins for the back of the iPhone and you can even load your own pic up to their website and create your own custom skin. I just got my skin last week and the picture quality is awesome! If you sign up for Zagg's iPad giveaway you'll also get a 50% off coupon you can use to get the skin for around $10 instead of over $20.

  • Does a shop in the UK fit invisible shields?

I just got the zagg full body shield and dont wanna fit it myself when the iphoen comes is there a shop that does it for a small fee? in the UK

I would not worry about the water damage. Even too much spray won't hurt it. They have included the squeegee so that you get no air-bubbles. Here is some advice, have a cleaning cloth next to you, as you gently use the squeegee to remove the air bubbless and some extra water, run it along the side and as some water comes out quickly use the cleaning cloth do wipe out the water. As you get near the home button as you squeeze out, put the cloth over the home button so that as you squeeze out the water will to to the cloth. Same for the ear speaker.
Just don't spray the solution onto the device itself.
I have used bodyguardz for my device before (same type as invisible shield), and I have never damaged my device at all.

  • Icondom vs Invisible shield

    Hi,
I installed the Icondom on my nano and I am 100% satisfied with it,
I showed it to my friend who bought the invisible shield and he couldn,t believe it, the Icondom is less visible, his Invisible shield makes his nano looks blurry. He paid $20.00 for his invisible shield and I paid only $6.00 for my Icondom on e-bay!!!!!

tbh, i was under the impression that invisible shield was a 1 piece "case" type product, having looked deeper it's obviously the same type of "sticker" protection as icondom so the invisible shield doesn't appear to be worth the extra money (which bummed me out cos i ordered one a few days ago for $19.99c/£11.57p) but now this raises another problem, bear with me
when i got the nano, inside the box the nano had a "thick" polythene wraparound, obviously you take that bit off, but underneath that is a screen protector that covers the whole front of the player, now, this seem to be the same type of thing as the icondom/invisible shield, & after a week of being in my pocket this has now started to peel & it's actually torn a little bit, can i expect the same from the other "3rd party" products ? & if so how often would they need replacing ? (tho given the price i reckon i'll order a pack of icondom as backup straight away )
    thanks for any help

  • Invisible shield glue resin

I just put on my invisible shield and i messed up a few times over the screen. i peeled it back and I got this sort of glue resin build up, up to the point in which i stopped peeling it back. also there was a little glue spot on a part of the screen i tried scrapping off and it smeared. the invisible shield now has a glue resin on the inside of it. has anyone else had this problem before? will it go away? it looks pretty bad.

it's not that i need to get the glue off the ipod, i need to get it off the invisible shield because its covering the screen. I suppose it's impossible now that the invisible shield is dried and if i take it off you can't put it back on.PPretty much blew 25 bucks...

  • Invisible shield  oups!

    Hi,
my friend decided to put the Icondom I gave him from the kit I ordered for my nano, the problem is that he removed his Invisible shield and now theres a lot of residue that he cant get rid of, any idea how to remove it, he doesnt want to put the Icondom without cleaning this mess first, any help will be appreciated,
    thanks
    Mike

you might try a little windex
the important thing is to use a NON-ABRASIVE cloth otherwise you will definately get small scratches

  • Invisible Shield for white iphone

I have heard that the invisible shield fluid that comes with the shield turns the white back on the iphone yellow. Does it? I could not find any pictures of a white iphone with the shield on.

iPhone material: acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (some sort of plastic alloy)

iPhone by itself: may discolor, wear, faint over time anyways (that's what acrylonitrile butadiene styrene does anyhoo)
the white iPhone is lose-lose situation over time (much like the white Macbook), unless put in a sleeve or case as often as possible (and cleaned from time to time)
I have made two attempts to put this shield on my while iPhone (the back side) with no success. I also have no discoloration from the attempted applications though. Perhaps because I cleaned it off right away...

  • INVISIBLE SHIELD for the IPhone

Has anyone tried or installed the INVISIBLE SHIELD on their IPhone?
    http://www.invisibleshield.com/cell-phone/apple/iphone.php
It looks to be great for scratch protection but my concern is does it give you more security in handling the IPhone from slipping from your hands. I have come very close to dropping the IPhone more than once because of its very slick surface. Any input would be very much appreciated.

I have it on my iphone and I must say, it's probably the best purchase I have made for my iphone. Prevention against slipping, I would have to say it prevents this very little. I still had an instance where it slipped out of my hand (fell only on my bed thank god). But it is amazing against scratches. I was in FL 2 months ago and I had my gf put my iphone in her purse bc I did not have pockets on my shorts. Not be as casrful as I am, she put the face directly against her credit card and 2 hrs later, I had her credit card #s imprinted on my iphone. I was very upset but after about another hour, the imprints were completely gone and not one single scratch was left on the phone.

So even if I just ask to pay them to replace the lock button they won't because my screens are third-party?
Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

  • 3G and old iPhone docks

I noted that I cannot put the new 3G into my old iPhone dock. Does anyone know why the difference? The phone dimension are very similar! In addition to getting a new phone, I will have to get new docks for the car charger, car stereo and office. Bummer!!!

Jorge is right. I tried to put mine in the old iPhone dock and the only thing keeping it from fitting in is the curved back of the new phone, whereas the old one was flat. The official iPhone 3G dock is available on Apple's online store..but it is 30 bucks....kind of price-y for a dock that should have been free.
    EDIT: Here's the link

I'm going to have to buy it because I can't live without a dock....
