Invisible Shield, iDiddy, or Martin Fields Protectors?

Hi all,
I just got my 5G iPod and am looking for a protector that is easy to put on and won't leave any residue if or when removed. Any recommendations? I've been considering the Invisible Shield, iDiddy, or Martin Fields Protectors.
Thanks,
Ed

    Hi all,
Do any of you have any preference for shields for the iPod? Looking for something easy to put on that won't leave any residue if removed.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi Ed,
I was kind of skeptical about putting on the invisible shield, but after reading others advice, I SLOWLY with much patience applied the invisible shield on my black 5g ipod.
I put it on immediately after removing the factory plastic protection, so my hands never touched the ipod itself.
It is very tough, and I have no fear of any damage to it without a case. There is a very slight texture to it, but it is nearly invisible. Also, the screen is not affected at all by it. It also adds a bit of a 'grip' to it so it doesnt really slide around if I leave it on slick surfaces.
I put mine on perfectly the first try, but I wonder how removal will be if necessary. (lifetime replacement is nice)
I think the key for this product is 'slow & deliberate'.
Sorry for rambling, hope this helps.

  • How to avoid water damage when installing invisible shield

Just wondering what you have to do to avoid water damage when installing Zagg invisible shield? What precautions should I take so that I do not damage the iPhone when installing Zagg Invisible shield?
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

    Hi BGmail,
I would stay away from invisible shield by zagg or similar products. I tried it, waste of £15, could have got myself a dock stand for my phone for that ****!! The problem with IS(invisible shield) is that the screen protector has a rubber feel which makes it annoying when swiping your finger on it + it's not scratch proof at all!! Mine scratched 2 days after the installation so badly that I had to remove it. The back it's hard to apply, does not cover everything you'd like to, also a dust trap that could get between tha film and the phone causing it to scratch, some people reporting the film going yellow after a while(on white iPhones).
What I think of IS: A poor american product heavily/aggressive advertised!! Mine is off, using a hard clear plastic shell and a good screen protector, might look bulky but it's safe, only using the shell while at work, the iPhone is pretty tough, don't forget.
    Your choice... Good luck !!

  • Martin Fields V Invisible Shield

Just wondering what you guys think is better out of the two film protectors.
Also, anybody found them in the UK, or from US with free shipping?
    *nathan

I have to say i was disappointed with invisible shield because... i never got it and was charged for it and the crap explanation i was giving is because i chose free shipping so unless they get the item back they cannot refund my money so the package is somewhere out there i cant use it cos i dont have and yet i'm paying for it because they supposedly shipped it. On the flipped side i just installed the martin fields and its great it blends verywell and is protects properly but make sure your carefull when applying because my first attempt trapped dust particles but my second was fine. One minor complaint and im nitpicking is that the shield is glossy hence easily smudges not scratches just smudges which is easily wiped off. In summary for my marin field is an A star product, invisible shield no no because i never tested one. PS i used free shipping for both and i live in the UK. hope this helps

  • Anyone ever used decalgirl shield and martins field?

Anyone ever bought any protective shields from these companies? I would love to hear your experiences on the product. Even if you have a nano and not a video Id still like to hear it. How do they compare to invisible shield?

Hi! I bought a skin and the screen armor for my iPod from DecalGirl. The screen armor has no scratches so far so I don't know if it's doing it's job or not but I MUST say that IT IS NOT CLEAR. There are various tiny bubbles that I can't out and once you take it off you have to put in a new one, they're not reusable AT ALL in my experience. It looks speckled and it's not clear like it should be so I don't recommend the screen armor from Decalgirl but the skins are okay. I bought an invisibile shield but don't plan on using it after finding out that I had to use soapy water to apply it, and plus it apparently leaves a sticky residue behind. I hope this helps! I may end up using the invisible shield but only after I get over the fact that there's water involved. xD

I have a decalgirl shield, it was pretty cheap of ebay and does the job brilliantly. Was quick and easy to apply but i'd say it will need replcing every 12 months or so.

  • Where do you get the invisible shield for 5G ipod?

where do you get it? do they even make it for the black 5G 60GB ipod? also any idea if there's gonna be the agent 18 clickshield for said ipod? thanks

I've tried several different screen protectors for ipod, psp, and cell phone, and these are absolutely the best in my opinion. they offer great protection with NO degradation to the video/graphics when viewed with it on...

And has anyone used it before, how good is it?
    Thanks.

get a total body skin from www.bestskinsever.com
    they also ship internationally.
they are exactly the same thing as the invisible shield but cheaper and they have
great support if u mess up the application. (ie they will send you a replacement)
i have it on my blackbook and it looks great.

  • Water under the screen while applying the invisible shield

I was applying the full body invisible shield and since it was difficult to apply the back(as suggested by every one) I did it one night switched the phone off all the time and the next morning it was fine and i loved it as it was looking good and on top of it it was protecting the back side of the phone.
The next night i applied the front side(supposed to be the easy side and child's play) and to my annoyance when I switched the phone back on in the morning there was water(? solution for applying the screen protector)under the screen. The screen looks awful
The ringer volume plays up now and switching on the phone is a bit cumbersome as it plays (sometimes in one go sometimes I have to use the home button and the power button together).
My phone is new ,bought on the 2nd of April 2010 and what do I do now? will apple warranty cover this?

Apple will not cover any moisture damage to the iPhone.
You can see if the moisture sensors are tripped or not. If they are then you are out of luck on warranty, no questions asked. Here is Apple's support document of inspecting the moisture sensors...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3302
If the sensors are not tripped, Apple would probably not cover the iPhone under warranty if there is visible signs of water (or liquid) behind the screen. If the button problems are not that bad, then you could switch the iPhone off and place in a bag of dry rice. It might help draw out some of liquid from the screen.
Personally I would stay away from anything that requires liquid to install. If done wrong it can kill the phone, which may be the case here. You can still make an appointment at an Apple store to look into an out of warranty replacement, which would get you a refurbished iPhone for a flat rate. The other option would be to check to see if there are any local third party repair centers. They may be cheaper than the out of warranty replacement, but at the same time could be more.

  • Invisible shield and iphone dock

Hi. Can someone pls help me? I was thinking of buying an invisible shield for my new iphone 3G to keep it looking great. However, I am a bit worried that if I fit a shield to it, it will not fit in the dock. Does anybody have an invisible shield on their iphone and can you tell me if it can still fit in the dock?

I put the full body invisible shield on mine. I did drop it from the back of a parked car onto the street. I was sure that there would be damage, but there is not even a dent to the shield.
I really recommend it, but take time with the installation if you are worried about perfection. The bubbles NEVER seem to work their way out if you do not get them out during installation. It is better to remove it immediately and reapply if there are too many bubbles.
I do, however, highly recommend it, especially compared to some other screen protectors which seem to come off over time, and are hard to apply correctly. The invisible shield can be slid around while still wet, which is great if you have huge, fumbling, sausage fingers like me.

  • Invisible Shield + Colour Screen- Does Anyone Have a Blurred Picture

I was looking to buy an invisible shield for my ipod video and noticed that in my local online store there was a note that said:
"due to a problem with the included screen protector blurring the the screen on colour iPod's and iPod Photo's we do not recommend purchasing the Podshield for use with any iPod's with a colour screen"
Does anyone have this problem or a way to get passed it? The Shield sounds great so I would really like to know any way I can get passed this.
    Thanx
    Ipod Video (30gb)

I bought an invisible shield by direct mail from the manufacturer in the USA and it arrived within 4-5 days. $25 sounds a lot for 2 bits of plastic but from what I've heard about how easy it is for Ipod to scratch up (I wouldn't know myself!), it is worth every penny. As long as you take your time to install it and follow the instructions properly, it provides superb protection and you can bearly notice it once its on. It is a FANTASTIC product and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, it's the finish that Apple should have had on the Ipod from the start !

  • Invisible Shield...to install or not to install.

I've been reading up on the invisible shield online and in this forum for about a week, I ordered mine last Tuesday, and I expect it to be in the mail today when I get home.
A couple things from my reading and talking to a friend who saw a black nano with the invisible shield:
Pros: Sleek, shows the ipod the way it was meant to be (sort of)
    Cons:
    A) I'm kind of scared putting a wet piece of plastic on my nano.
    B) Leaves a lot of residue, in case I have to return nano to apple for service (very likely) will be a hassle.
    C) Doesn't look as clean as would like
    D) Can't use ipod for 24hours (yea, it's only a day, but after only having my nano for a week, this thing goes where I go, blasting constantly).
    E) Deliberately putting water on my nano.....kind of freaks me out.
    F) The back piece is a pain in the *** to put on from what i've read, and if I did this I might not put on the back, which kinds of conflicts the original point of buying one in the first place.
I'm currently using ipod socks on my nano and works pretty good. Only problem is that it slips out of the sock in my pocket sometimes. My friend said I should wash my sock and dry it in the dryer, and it will shrink and be a perfect fit.
I'm also kind of interested in a zcover but that has mixed reviews also, or an icondom.
Ultimately I will need to use my nano in an armband at the gym.
So give me some input. Should I use the invisible shield or return it? Should I continue to use the sock until something better comes along?
    Any constructive input appreciated.

I spent a lot of time reading up on nano protectors before finally ordering the invisible shield. I had gotten over the fear of putting water on the nano after hearing about one that survived a washing machine. Follow the instructions on the website and you should be fine. Don't be afraid to readjust it several times when applying it, that did not appear to affect it at all. I did have a few air bubbles under the front piece(I did apply that first) but now after a week all but one has disappeared. The back was a little tricky but it actually came out looking better(no airbubbles at all). I have read about a lot of people leaving the back off because they don't care if that gets scratched. Granted it has only been a week but I have very happy with it so far. According to the site for invisible shield it will not leave residue when removed though I have not tested it myself. Hope this helps!

  • Should I get "The Invisible Shield for PowerBook"?

Hi, has anyone bought the Invisible shield for PowerBooks? I wanted to get one to help protect my PowerBook palm rest area and clicker from pitting/scratches (my other PowerBook started to pit after about a year). Is it as invisible on the PowerBook as it is on an iPod? Would you'll recommend "The Invisible Shield" for PowerBooks? Thanks in advance for any help!

I use the Marware Protection Pack from http://www.marware.com
It has an adhesive wrist area protector that looks really slick and is comfortable to use. It also comes with a screen cloth and a keyboard cover to protect the screen from the keys. All for 20.00.

  • Icondom vs Invisible shield

    Hi,
I installed the Icondom on my nano and I am 100% satisfied with it,
I showed it to my friend who bought the invisible shield and he couldn,t believe it, the Icondom is less visible, his Invisible shield makes his nano looks blurry. He paid $20.00 for his invisible shield and I paid only $6.00 for my Icondom on e-bay!!!!!
    Mike

tbh, i was under the impression that invisible shield was a 1 piece "case" type product, having looked deeper it's obviously the same type of "sticker" protection as icondom so the invisible shield doesn't appear to be worth the extra money (which bummed me out cos i ordered one a few days ago for $19.99c/£11.57p) but now this raises another problem, bear with me
when i got the nano, inside the box the nano had a "thick" polythene wraparound, obviously you take that bit off, but underneath that is a screen protector that covers the whole front of the player, now, this seem to be the same type of thing as the icondom/invisible shield, & after a week of being in my pocket this has now started to peel & it's actually torn a little bit, can i expect the same from the other "3rd party" products ? & if so how often would they need replacing ? (tho given the price i reckon i'll order a pack of icondom as backup straight away )
    thanks for any help

  • Invisible shield/trendy geek shield

    Hi,
I just ordered my 30Gb white video iPod from Apple store. I was wondering if any of you have used Trendy geek shield http://www.trendygeek.com or the invisible shield http://theinvisibleshield.com
I am contemplating which one to get so your experiences will assist me in deciding which one to go for.

There is a good review of the InvisibleShield protector here.
They have reviewed the iPod Nano version of the cover, but it it essentially the same. This should also reassure those of you who are worried about the water — they had no problems.
