My type tool curser has suddenly gone away, very dim or not showing up at all - any ideas?

I believe there is an intermittent issue with the cursor which may happen in any version at any zoom level.

After installing SL, tried to install iwork '08 but the type won't show up in any of the iwork programs. It is a black font, so I'm not sure why it is invisible. Any ideas?

You need to have the latest version of Pages08. It is 3.0.3.

TBird users replying to my Mail sometimes have "invisible" type

I've recently been hearing from co-workers who use Thunderbird that when replying to my mail they'll sometimes be unable to see what they're typing. There's text there, and I can read the mail when they send it to me, but they can't see as they're composing the message. Someone has found that what's actually happening is that their text color has for some reason been formatted white. If they select everything and format it back to black, they're fine.
My question is whether anyone has a guess about what in a Mac Mail–generated message would be causing this wonkiness in T'bird.
Related to this is Mail's convention of sectioning off forwarded or "inherited" text blocks in round-cornered ruled boxes, with the little "x" in the corner to make it easy to delete the entire text within. That convenience hasn't been worth the other awkwardnesses that have come with this feature, and I'd dearly love to know how not to have to work with it. I also wonder if this high-end mark-up may be part of what's giving the trouble to my friends using open source mail apps.

I'm replying to my own post mainly to change the subject line so "Thunderbird" comes up in a search (rather than TBird) . . .
But I also wanted to say that in addition to the "white type" problem some Thunderbird users are having when replying to my mail, one person's app actually crashes when she tries opening any attachment I've sent.
I'd be most grateful to see a reply or two, even if it's confirmation that this problem has been seen before by others.

F-28 - A/c type : DZ

Dear Sap freinds,
T code F-28 can we have the type field blank instead of deafulting to "DZ".
i removed the type DZ and gone to system <- User Profile <- set Data
in that time DZ is disappeared but when i posting incoming payment again it asking account type.
how can i permanently block account type DZ.
give me some advice experters

bascially when client going to post f-28 they dont want to see type DZ type but they want to go values under type DZ they want invisible type DZ. there is any option we have to hide type DZ.

Invisible cursor in illustrator 5.5 after OSX Mavericks update

Hi there,
I realised, that after update to OSX Mavericks (10.9) there is almost invisible type cursor (as you hit T and try to edit text) in my Illustrator CS 5.5. Have you experienced this problem too? Well, it is not invisible, but like 10% black on white backgroud. As you can see on attached picture, cursor actually IS there, but from the front, you can't see it... Configuration is: MBA 13" mid-2013 (i7, 8GB RAM, HD 5000, OSX Mavericks), Adobe Creative Suit Standard for Students CS 5.5.

There have been atleast 3 posts in recent days about hard to see cursors, and atleast one of those posts mentioned new iMac. So i think you hti it on the hose that this is related to Mavericks.
You can system preferences >> accesibility >> Display
One tick mark should do it as it gets big really fast.
I hope to see a mac OS update in the near future, or that someone else finds a solution.
How do you like Mavericks otherwse, any good features?

Type Layer bug on OS 10.4.11???

I suddenly can't set type in Photoshop CS3. Type tool produces no results. It just creates an odd-looking small square on the screen, and the type curser fails to appear. Is this a bug, or is this related to a setting that I'm unaware of? This began occurring since I updated from v10.0 to v10.0.1. If this is a bug, it's very major. Thanks in advance for your comments.

sounds like your font size is too big if that's not the problem trash your prefs.

Your “invisible” type may be the result of a recent update to 10.6.4. Did you just update via Software Update in the Apple menu? That has caused a variety of problems, including not seeing the type. The remedy is to update with the Combo update available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048
Also, be sure that you have the latest version of Pages.
Try this and let us know if any problems persist.

How to get autocorrect to remember words and stop correcting them?

Curse words. I'm trying to type curse words. In every other piece of technology with spell check, you can get it to remember a word after spelling it so many times or denying a correction. This way you only get the annoying correction to duck once.
But my surface keeps doing it which is really frustrating. Is there a way to correct this?
If not, please do it right away because this is kind of stupid. Especially if it treats all corrections the same way. I don't need to have my name corrected 1 million times.

I forgot to say that when I close those two panels, they stay closed until I restart my ADF application when they reopen again, and that's what I wont to prevent.

Starting with version 32.0 of Firefox, 1Password text boxes do not show the typed text.

The 1Password plugin for Firefox prompts users to enter new passwords as they are created. Starting with version 32, however, the text box still appears, but no cursor appears in the text box, and no type is visible as I type. The typed entry is posted to 1Password, but it must be checked to ensure that there were no typos (since the type was not visible as it was entered). Is there a fix for this "invisible type" problem?

I appreciate your response, but 1Password has no new release that might solve the problem -- a problem, to be honest, that I don't think is theirs.
Firefox has become increasingly prone to rendering errors, and this may be just another one. Sites that display properly in Safari and Chrome are a mess in Firefox, and every day brings me closer to switching to another browser.
Whether there's code specific to Firefox that developers, because of Firefox's declining popularity, aren't including or Firefox isn't incorporating the latest standards, I don't know. But I do know that I now need to open other browsers throughout the day because Firefox is no longer the reliable resource it once was.

How do i prevent the user from entering a RETURN/ENTER key into their username?

i am currently trying to make a login system where the
username will obviously enter their username.
I have made my user input box editable and set up variables
to accept the user input and store them into variables, along with
error prevention for blank fields.
However i cannot prevent the user from hitting the
"enter"/"return" key. When i hit "enter" the user input box box
gets larger as the type curser moves onto the next line and when
the username is stored in a variable it is stored as "theuser
RETURN" so when variable is passed to the next frame and is
recalled by another text box to display the username, the user name
has a carriage return.
I want to prevent this, anyone got any suggestions? or know
of any websites i can visit which will explain this to me nicely??

rather attach a behaviour to the field/text-sprite like:

Embedded graphic in a text window

Hello. I am really stumped on this one. I have inherited a project with Headline text windows. Each Headine text window has a bar embedded in it -- something like this "HEADLINE HERE ----------". I need to adjust the color and length of the bar. I can not cut it out or unanchor it it from the text window. I can not move the bar to the left (closer to the type). If I drag the text window out to the right, the bar continues the length of the text window. Help! Thanks.

Turn on your invisibles (Type>Show Hidden) so you can see what's creating the white space—right indent tabs don't show in the Tabs panel. Your screen capture show's that there isn't a regular tab there. It could be a tracked m-space like this:
If you want to control the space replace the white space(s) with a tab like below and drag the tab arrow to flex the space:
Or, simply change the tracking on whatever space is there.

I linked to my Fireworks menus externally. The menu works but
when it is loaded a type curser shows up over the links instead of
an arrow as normal for a button. I assume it's because since the
code is external the html page doesn't see the links. Is there a
way, maybe with javascript to get those links to read in a way that
will make that text curser turn to an arrow?

No. It's because of the way the links are encoded within the
page. And
it's just one of the many reasons why nobody should use these
menus. There
are many much better alternatives - do you want to know more?

When I open Pages and get a blank page, the curser is no longer working. Meaning, I am now unable to type a document as there's no place to begin. Never had this happen before. Interestingly, if I create a text box, I AM able to type, but not without creating the text box first. I'd love to go back to the way it was...you create a blank page, curser comes up, you begin typing. Any ideas? Thanks.

You have started a PAge Layout document instead of the expected Word Processing document. Have a look in the New template chooser and you'll see that there are two types of documents/templates.

Select the text, and open the Appearance palette (Come on guys, text highlight is irrelevant, it happens to objects too says the OP), and see what's listed there. For a simple text object, there should only be a line item "Type", followed by "Characters", and when double-clicked the Characters line item expands to tell you the stroke and fill color. For a basic object, there should be a fill and/or stroke.
What happens sometimes, is that you end up adding extra strokes/fills to objects or text, and the appearance palette is where that will be noted. Especially when you are dealing with groups, and/or picking up a color with the eyedropper, you may inadvertently be adding a fill or stroke on top of something. You can drag those unwanted thingies from the Appearance palette into its own little trash can.

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.
