"Invitation declined"

Okay, so I have iChat 6 and I am having troubles with video chatting.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
The problem is, whenever I go to videochat on AIM, it shoes my preview for maybe about ten seconds, goes into "starting video chat with:" then after about another 3 seconds, is says that "so and so" has declined your invitation, when in fact my contact says that they have accepted.
I've tried everything, from changing the server, to re-doing my AIM account.
Some days it will be okay and then it just stops. It never comes with an error message. It just says that the invitation has been declined.
Can anyone help me? I'm starting to go insane because this is the only way I can commincate with my friends who are away for college.

Hi,
In iChat > Preferences > Video Section try the Bandwidth Limit at 500kbps
(if they are PC Buddies you may have to try 200kbps)

  • Ical invitation declined

ical return my invitation declined eventhough they are accepted by invitees

Slide the top of your screen down, then click all.
    They should all be there.

  • Another "can't connect" problem... can anyone help?

My wife and I have been iChating with our daughter, who is in a dorm room, with no problems... until now. We get the "invite declined" screen or "failed to accept." It does not work either with AIM or a .mac account. It works fine within my own home network.
Below is info from the error report.
    Any advice? Thanks.

    Video Conference User Report:

    Ok,
If on your Mac in System Preferences > Network > Airport > TCP/IP tab you see
    your IP as 10.0.1.2
And it says +Using DHCP+ then we can safely assume that the Airport is issuing IP addresses (DHCP)
Now in Applications/Utilities you will find the Airport Admin Utility
This will let you access your Airport's set up screens.
In the Internet tab you will see similar info to the System Preferences but for the Airport to Modem connection.
Sprint does not appear as a Brand of Modem or router in this list http://portforward.com/routers.htm so I presume this is your ISP.
WE will need to the make and model they have given you.
The IP that shows as the "Router" IP in the Airport will be the IP you can use in a web browser but most likely you will need a User ID and Password as well.
This is why we send people tot he Port Forward site as part of the info there is the Default Access info.
If you find yours and use the info in a web browser you then need to find out if the device does UPnP.

  • How do I accept or decline a calendar invitation in iOS8 without sending a response?

This specific scenario is Exchange 2013 and iOS8.
I want to be able to accept/decline/tentative in response to a calendar invitation from my iPhone without sending a response to the inviter.
I do not think Exchange probably has anything to do with it, but that is the set up.
    Thanks!

Decline a call and send it directly to voicemail. Do one of the following:
Press the Sleep/Wake button twice quickly.
Press and hold the center button on your headset for about two seconds. Two low beeps confirm that the call was declined.
Tap Decline (if iPhone is awake when the call comes in).
Respond with a text message instead of answering. Tap Message and choose a reply or tap Custom. To create your own default replies, go to Settings > Phone > Respond with Text, then tap any of the default messages and replace it with your own text.
Remind yourself to return the call. Tap Remind Me and indicate when you want to be reminded.

  • Family share invitation with no accept or decline buttons

I have sent a family share invitation to my husband and the invitation he received has no accept or decline button. Why?

Usually, that would mean that he is not running ios 8 or already belongs to other family.

  • I can't decline or accept Invitations on iCal

I use i cal at work to have an idea about the things my co-workers are doing, to attend meetings, go to events etc. i use my private mac at work.
When there are meetings or events i get invitations for them. this part is normal. however, for some reason i get invitations for events i already declined (or accepted, it doesn't matter what i do); the invitations just keep coming until the date the event is taking place. this is the case with two of my colleagues. I also tried to delete those two calendars – the invitations won't stop. one of the guys uses a mac the other has windows. also: this only started after i upgraded to mavericks.
    any thoughts on that? thanks!

In Finder highlight the drive. Then type Command I (I as in Ivan) you will see a dialog box, at the bottom of the box is the permissions. Change the permissions as needed.
Also how is the EHT formatted? This info will also be in that dialog box. If it's not formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then it probably wasn't set up to be used with OS X and is formatted for use with MS Windows.

  • Declined Invitation.

I have read over this forum numerous times to try and figure this out, but still no luck with the problem. I am trying to video chat over iChat. My girlfriend uses AIM and a Dell laptop. I can connect to the Apple test buddies just fine but whenever I try to talk to my girlfriend it says she declines. I think it might be a problem on her end as I have tweaked everything on my end. Including the bandwidth and port.
I have a friend who goes to the same school who is an IT guy and I asked him for help today as well. Anything you guys can recommend?

Ok, so now I have the error report:

  • How do I resend an invitation to share a calendar after the person initially declined?

I wanted to share a calendar with my wife, and sent her a invitation to share, but then realized I wanted to change the name of calendar beforehand, and asked her to decline the request. After I changed the name and resent the request, iCalendar (on my laptop, and on icloud.com) immediately changes the invite to declined. It would seem that after one decline, the system is thinking the invite is spam or something and is blocking the request from going through.
Is there a way to reset this so that I can send a new request?
    Thanks.

Easiest way (after having to deal with this issue myself), is to go back into the event, remove the invitees completely, and save the event.  Then open the event back up, and add the invitees once more, and save the event.  They'll then receive a brand new invite for the same event, with any changes that you've made.

  • Declining a meeting invitation

I have raised this with several of RIM's partners and see that it keeps appearing in each OS update. When a user declines an eVite on Blackberry mail, his name is permanently removed from the host's list of invitees, and the user no longer receives any updates or rescheduling notices. Lotus Notes, Outlook, Apple, and other email systems allow the user to select an option to stay apprised of any updates or rescheduling notices, so that the user gets another chance to accept an invitation to a rescheduled meeting. This has been a long-standing deficiency in the BB software.  It is one of the main drivers for many users to switch to non-RIM operating systems.  Are there any solutions to this, or at least a viable work-around?  The only one I know is to tentatively accept the meeting and add a comment to the effect that I am really declining but would like to know if you reschedule it to a more convenient time.  Thanks, everyone!

I would LOVE to know the answer to this also. I hate that it declines meetings when I just want to delete them. This should be an option like outlook that allows me to choose whether to send a response.

  • UNABLE TO CONNECT/ OTHER PERSON DECLINED YOUR INVITATION

    PLEASE HELP!!
Im working in Tangiers and desperate to see my partner. I have tried in several hotel broadband wireless networks and I keep getting the unable to connect or the other person has declined your invitation. This is happening with other colleagues also. What can we do??
Both our computers firewalls are off. Is this right?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I, too, have experienced the same problem. I have a master account, as do all of my iChat contacts, and when any of them try to contact me, or vice versa, we are unable to connect via video or sound (only via text chat). They are all able to connect with one other but not with my machine at home. I'm able to successfully connect via video or sound at my office, so it must be how it's set up; I have checked the firewall etc. but am unable to find the correct combination of settings.
Here's a strange one: I am able to connect iChat successfully using video & sound with two machines I have at home which are sharing a broadband connection via an ethernet hub, but none of them can connect with someone outside of the building.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks.
various macs   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   too much to mention, i probably have it all..!

  • Ical declined all my invitations

Hi I could need some help.
iCal somehow declined all my invitations, what results in the fact that I can not see this invitations anymore. (Normal appointments show up)
If I look directly on the server (via Safari) I can see the appointments,
If I create a new user on my mac and configure iCal, I can see the invitations.
My wife (is delegate) can see my invitations on her mac.
I tried to export the calendar from the user where I could see all my invitations, but that did'nt work: in my own profile they dissappear just like the original calendar.
I did removed the Calendar folder from my Library, all iCal preferences and even some sync-prefs form teh Application support folder and cleared the user Caches.
Why can I see the complete calendar with invitations in one (the new) profile and not in the other?
    X.8.5 (latest)
OsX server X.6 caldav working nice and OK for some years now...
    Help is appreciated!

I would do this, but why don't I have the same trouble with a new User I create? Why do I get the same problem if I import the calendar (where I see the invitations) into a calenda (on my mac)?
To me it looks like iCal stores the declines/acceptations in some file???
But I 'll give it a trie and will reset my server...
Eric, thanks by the way for helping!!!

  • Trying to set up family share and the invitation does not show the accept decline option so we can't accept the invitation.  Anyone know how to fix?

invitation to family share does not have the accept or decline option to choose

Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have anymore question.

  • No accept/decline option when sending invite

When I send an invitation, it allows the other person to add it to their calendar but there are no options for them to accept or decline the invitation. Or maybe I just don't know where to find these options.
    Any help is much appreciated

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
That is not a configurable function. Possible it is impacted by carrier requirements, but I wouldn't think so.

  • I cannot accept or decline invitation under Family Share. Why?

I send an invitation and go into my iCloud email and click on view invitation but it does not give me the option to accept or decline. Anyone know why?

    Hi smwbruns,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing (i.e. if you are the one starting a family group, or if you are trying to join a group someone else has created). If you are still having issues either inviting or joining a Family Sharing group, you may find the following article helpful:

  • How do i configure ical to email me when people accept/decline invites

Im running Mac 10.8.2 and im trying to get the calander to email me when someone accepts or declines my invites
My email is configured for smtp and my calander/contacts are managed by the icloud
The only way i know if someone has accepted is to open the event and check the status of the invitees
    Many thanks

If you send an email to a non-existant email address, you would get a Mailor Daemon message from the server.
If you send a vaild and correct email address to the correct person, but they have used up their server quota, the email will not be deivered and you would get a response from the server.
If you sent an email with a vaild email address, but not the correct email address for that person, then that email would get delivered to that email address even though it is not for the correct person and you would not get any notification because it was delivered as instructed.
So, if the email is not delivered then you would get a response email from the server.
There are a variety of reasons for non-delivery:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bounce_message
There is no method of any server knowing or indeed anyone knowing whether you have typed the correct email address for the recipient. That responsibility is down to you. Servers can only know whether it can or cannot be delivered for various reasons.
