If you have a membership with the apple developer community or know anyone who has and also resides within the united states, please contact.
The purpose is to partake in http://www.atari.com/pongdeveloperchallenge
The initial game design document is fully completed and the ideas expressed in it are more than strong enough to compete for the top prizes.
I'm well versed in different programming languages (c, scheme, js, assembly, python,...) as well as being a proficient sound designer and musician and a skilled graphics and animation manipulator myself. Assistance with the actual development would appreciated but is not really necessary.
Winnings and proceedings arising from participation would distributed most fairly. If you know anyone besides yourself that is able to help out, you would also be rewarded financially from an ensuing victory.

as above, I was re-charged for downloading an app (game) I had already paid for. This was done at the game designer's suggestion to reset the results. Why was a I charged a second time? What can I do to get a refund?
Unlress you changed it in Settings>General>Restrictions, there is a ten minute window for making additional purchases once you entered you password.
Also, could the charge be for an in-app purchase in the free app?
You can try to get a refund by:

What are you doing with software (games) designed to run on Snow Leopard when the Os is Lion?
It is up to the publishers of games to accommodate their software to Lion.
Blizzard, publisher of StarCraft, WarCraft, and Diablo, has posted a statement about that -
Blizzard Support
Although they were able to create patches to allow the use of their (OS 9) games in OS X up through Snow Leopard, apparently from their perspective it is not possible to patch those games for Lion. -

The goal of this contest is to design animated Flash E-Cards.

animators, coders, musicians, etc, to collaborate and create some
interesting artwork.
We have a class based ranking system. First class award
winners are given 2000$ each. Second class award winners are given
1000$ each. Third class award winners are given 100$ each.

Hi Everybody!!!
Someone posted a link in a forum about a contest, similar to the DreamBuildPlay event that used to happen every year around these days. The name of the event is the "Windows Game Developer Contest". It's about
porting an existing App from other platform to the Windows Store. The thing is that I have not been able to find if this is a real thing or just a hoax. I thought about asking, just in case - one can never be too careful with the Internet.
Thanks!!!

Tarh ikHi Rob!!!
Thanks!!! I thought about pasting the link, but, if the link is a hoax as I suspected, I'd be liable for damages to those who followed it - I rather be too careful when it comes to the Internet.
Thanks for your feedback!!! Your link "blogs.windows.com" is the only official URL that I've found!!! I'll proceed to join now!
Thanks again!!

Hello,
Is the following correct for a tetris game?
One thread for painting the game area and one thread for controling the falling rate of the tetraminos.
Generally for games....
One thread for painting the game area and one thread for each component that needs to control the update of its state on its own (for instance one thread for enemy spacecraft movement and one thread for missile movement)
Are there any books related to games design which use Java for sample code?
Thanks in advanceOne thread for painting the game area and one thread
for controling the falling rate of the tetraminos.Java automatically creates and handles the UI thread, but you do need to create a new thread to drop the piece. For that, you should really check out Java.util.Timer and TimerTask
Add a listener to the KeyboardFocusManager, and you should be good
for each component that needs to control the update
of its state on its own (for instance one thread for
enemy spacecraft movement and one thread for missile
movement)I definitely wouldn't do it this way. For games with discreet time steps, you should need one thread.
Even handling 2 players at the same keyboard requires just the UI thread.
In general, having multiple threads only helps in situations where
1. You are waiting for something to happen, or for a certain amount of time to pass
and
2. You have other stuff you'd like to be doing in that timeframe.

Game Design Students need Animators
Hello,
We are a team of game design students in the middle of a five
months flash game project. The team is composed of a
Project chief/game designer/programmer (me), a
game designer/script , a
game/level designer,
two graphists and a
sound designer .
The project started 2 mounths ago and must be finished for
the end of april 2009.
We are actually pretty stuck because of the lack of
2D animators and are ACTIVELY looking for some
here are some pictures of the project :
The
protagonist
Some
ennemies
If you are interested in the project or if you know someone
that should be, please conctact me :

or (messenger) [email protected]
(sorry for my english, I’m french)
ThanksI have this design for a game, but there is a snag in
the implementation that I cannot resolve (that is see
how I would design it).
Summary (And this may have been done before):
People design AI or Robots. By design that is
program. Submit them, and have them compete against
other robots.Definitely done before.
>
Question:
How do I time slice evenly? And how do I control a
robot that may use threads outside of the main thread
alocated to it. That is I would like programmers to
have the ability to program their robots using
threads if they choose, but I need to make even (by
processing time) with folks who don't use threads.
Threads in this case only buys you a convienient
abstraction.A non-trivial task.
You create your own language. That language runs in an interpreter. The interpreter controls timeslices for each player. -
I'm starting 3D Game Design College. Macbook Pro 13" or Macbook Air 13"?i
I Am getting a new laptop for college. I have an iphone and an ipad so I figured why not switch to a mac computer as well. I am torn between the 13" Macbook Pro and the 13" Macbook Air. I am doing 3D Art and Animation/Game Design. Which is the best notebook for me?
Is it a very noticable difference? Will I REALLY notice it? I know that the Pros are more powerful but I just wanted to factor in the SSD in the Air.

ICal sending multiple invites for one event
I have an mixed environment where my Mac users running OSX 10.6.4 sync with our MS Exchange 07 using Mail 4.3 and iCal 4.0.3 . Everything is syncing correctly between the two environments, but we have run in to an annoying snag.
We have multiple users that have Read/Write Access to multiple calendars. Whenever somebody creates an event on one these calendars, even if the user is not an invitee they receive an email notification. The notification is on behalf of the calendar that the event was created for. If the user is an invitee they then receive 2 invites for the same event. This only happens with users who have Read/Write access to these calendars
I have searched high and low and can not find anybody that has the same issue as I do. Any assistance or advice in how to make so that users with Read/Write access only receive notifications to events they are invited to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time!
Cheers,
Nic YoungI think I know what can help. I also support Mac users in a mixed environment, and find that being able to access a Windows machine to test settings for my iCal users is very very helpful. If you do not have one, I could also fix this one by adding the user's account to my one Mac that runs Entourage.
On a PC: set up one of the problem accounts in Outlook, then go to Tools->Options & click on the Delegates tab. Click on a Delegate name (if they all have the same permission level, you can select all), then click the Permissions button. If the delegate have "Editor" permissions, there will be a little checked box that sends the delegate copies of all those meetings. De-select it.
Lemme know if you want Entourage instructions or if that does it for you.
The real question, of course, is why are there so many Exchange functions that iCal can't touch. Grrrr.... -
i have an iPad 2 and the volume icon is in the middle of my screen and when i try to turn the volume down it just goes back up again and it makes it impossible for me to play games or do anything
Have you tried giving it a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple let go and let it reboot and see if htat helps.

Why is my Apple ID still disabled when supposedly it was fixed by Apple ID support over the phone this am over 12 hours ago and they said it ( my Apple ID and password) would be disabled no longer then 8 hours and I still am unable to buy anything in the I tunes store or pay for any apps or games.
We are fellow users here on these forums. Have you tried logging out of your account on your iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logged in and seeing if it then works ?
