Invites - accepting / sending from iCal

Hey all,
I just got my new iphone two nights ago, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. It's great for toys and fun and stuff, but I really wanted it as a work tool and expected that it would just create a seamless environment between my mac and my iphone.... sadly this doesn't seem to be the case.
All of that said, I fully expect that perhaps there's just some things I need to learn rather than suggesting from the outset that it lacks functionality.
Anyway, the first of my big issues is that I can't seem to work out how to send or accept invitations from the calendar.... can anyone help?

Thanks.... your answer hurts... but thanks...
I guess I can't believe that something so basic isn't part of this phone.... (I guess I also can't believe i've got to go to microsoft for the solution!)
but seriously, thanks.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

  • Invite Email not being sent from iCal from a Google Apps calendar

    Hello,
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.5, iCal 4.0.4, and am attempting to do the following from a Google Apps calendar I have setup in iCal. Please note that it's not gmail, it's Google Apps. If that makes a difference. That being said...
I am trying to create a meeting invite from iCal. I am able to create the invite and add attendees with no problem. When I hit send (from iCal), the invitees do not receive an email notification of the event, but it does appear their calendar (both in iCal and via Google Calendar on the web). I need an email to be sent to the invitees that they have been invited to a meeting, not just to have it appear on their calendars.
When I create the meeting invite via Google Calendar on the Web the invitees do receive an email notification (as specified in their calendar preferences). The issue only happens when the meeting invite is created in iCal.
When an invitee accepts or declines a meeting via iCal I receive an acceptance or declining email. Just not when the meeting invite is sent.
Also, I am able to create a meeting on one of the "On My Computer" calendars in iCal, invite people, and a meeting invitation is sent as expected.
And again, the invitees have notification of meeting invites turned on in their calendar settings (as is shown by the fact that when the invite is sent out via Google Calendar on the Web they receive an email with the invite).
Thanks! Any assistance would be awesome.
    Aaron

That was actually my post on the Google forums
Here is what I have found so far (and hopefully some of my assumptions are correct, because we're making the full switch to Google Apps this weekend and I am assuming it will work after this). This is long, but I'm trying to be thorough. Also note that I have updated to 10.6.6 since the time I first posted my last message.
We are currently piloting Google Apps, so our primary domain (which I will refer to from now on as domain.com) still points to our old exchange servers. Mail is currently being delivered to our Google Apps pilot accounts the following way:
    1. User sends an email to [email protected]. This email is delivered to our old Exchange servers.
    2. Once the email is received on our old Exchange servers it gets forwarded to our Google Apps test domain (gtest.domain.com).
This seems to be an important piece of the puzzle as our primary domain (domain.com) shows up on the Google Apps for Admin dashboard as improperly setup (which is correct, because we're currently piloting)
So, in iCal I have my Google Apps account setup (I'm one of the pilot users) the following way. I added the Account as Google calendar in iCal, but once the account shows up it shows up as a CalDAV account.
    Under the account information tab:
    CalDAV
    Description: [email protected]
    User name: [email protected]
    Password: my password
Under the server settings tab (*NOTE: these were entered in automatically when I setup the calendar as a Google calendar)
    Server address: www.google.com
Server path: the path to my calendar.
    Use SSL is checked
Use Kerberos v5 is NOT checked
So, during my testing I was sending meeting invites from people who were in the Google Apps pilot to other people who were in the Google Apps pilot. When I was doing that, no invitations were getting sent.
I created a new email account on our exchange server ([email protected]) but did NOT set it up to be a part of the Google Apps pilot (this means that emails were not being forwarded from [email protected] to [email protected]). Doing this successfully delivered all invites, cancellations, and meeting updates from iCal!
From what I can tell there must be something going on (probably my own fault) when a calendar invite is sent from my Google Apps account, through our old Exchange system, and then back to our Google Account. My assumption is it has something to do with the fact that our MX records for domain.com currently point to our old exchange servers, and the MX records for gtest.domain.com point to the Google Apps servers. It may also have something to do with the SPF record which only allows emails from domain.com to be sent from our Exchange servers.
Those are just guesses though as I am not very knowledgeable in that area.
I hope this helps and I would love to hear about anyone else working on this issue.

  • Cannot Send Event Invites From iCal

I cannot send invited from iCal.
I am running Lion version 10.8.5.
When I create a new event and try to invite others to the event their name is grayed out with a question mark next to it.
My apple ID uses a gmail email address.
I am using iCloud and syncing to Googlralso using Caldev and I have IOS devices, an  iPhone & iPad and an Android phone
Any ideas anyone or is this a common problem ?

Hello. Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same one. My wife's iCal invitations are showing up in my iCal "Inbox" but are not coming to me via email. I discovered this while troubleshooting the issue just now...and saw that I had 10+ iCal invites for which I never received email notifications.
I never proactively check iCal, so definitely need to resolve this issue, as receiving emailed invitations is the only way they're filed into my iCal. Thanks for any insight!

  • Can't send invites from iCal/iPhone4s

The option to "invite" participants to an iCal event doesn't seem to exist in my options on my iCal for iPhone4s. I've checked the area where you set all the event info, time, repeat, etc...and there's nothing there about invites. Does anyone know why this option isn't available? Thanks

After further investigating, I've now chalked this issue up to the fact that I'm using a Yahoo based calendar that I'm syncing with my iCal on my iphone & macbook. For whatever reason, I can't invite a recipient to a yahoo calendar event, but if I were to create the event on an iCloud based calendar, no problem inviting. However, I had deactivated my iCloud calendars becasue they create duplicate entries on every date in my Iphone...ANNOYING!
Does anyone have any insight into this?
    Thanks

  • Changing ical "accepted:mailto:" in iCal event invitation

Recently I've noticed that iCal has been sending the iCal event invitation with the incorrect "accepted:mailto:" email address. By looking at the raw source of the sent message you can see where the email address goes to when the user accepts the meeting invite.
Is there any way to change this embedded email address? Where is iCal getting this address from?
    Thanks for the help,
    Michel

    Hi Guys,
I was able solve this problem by going into my addressbook, selecting preferences then "Template" and finally adding an extra email field to the template and setting the first email field to "home" and the second one to "work". Then closed the preferences and tested an iCal meeting invite. The reply accept email address now used my home email address.
    Hope this helps.

  • Accept invitation without sending repsonse?

I have my iphone connected to my Exchange account. I want to be able to accept meeting invites without sending a response to the meeting organizer.
    Is that possible?

Actually, the "iCal" invite comes from Exchange. I can add them to my iCal calendar just fine but the reply sent back to the originator of the event does nothing for my status in the Exchange item -- I still show as tentative. All they get is an email that says I'll be attending (or not).
Since most folks I know around here don't really look to see who's attending or not, I'd rather just not send the response.
Your suggestion for disconnecting is interesting though. While that is not an option for me (I'm always connected to one or more servers), I could try going offline while accepting the invite and then delete the message.
    I'll give that a try.
    Thanks!

  • Exchange calendar invitations accepted in IOS remain "new" in iCal

My work calendar and email is based on Exchange. I manage both from a Mac (using Outlook 2011 for Mac) and an iPhone 5 running IOS 7.latest.
It works just fine. If I accept an invitation on any platform is is accepted on all. Then I look at OSX Calender (which I will refer to as iCal) and I still see a mass of invitations (the ones that I accepted on my phone or using Outlook).
I use iCal because I share calendars with the rest of my family using iCloud. So that I can view my work and home calendars in one place, I have also set up iCal to see both iCloud and Exchange calendars.
The iCloud side of the house does what I want it to do. The problem comes with the way iCal deals with calendar invitations from my Exchange account. Here goes:
I receive an Exchange calendar invitation.
I process it (accept/tentative/decline) using Outlook on the Mac or the IOS Calendar on my iPhone.
The invitation on the device I didn't use goes away.
    I open iCal.
The "new" invitation is still there in iCal waiting to be processed, the only way to clear it is to accept/tentative/decline it.
I cannot find any setting to prevent this from happening. iCal seems to ignore changes in status of Exchange invitations.
Any ideas gratefully accepted! Thanks, Charlie

have had what I think is similar issue.... on both ipad and iphone.  Running IOS6.  Have gmail account setup through exchange connector.  IOS receives and accepts invites just fine from external devices....  If i create a new invite on the IOS device and add invitees with external email addresses, once this calendar invite is saved into the diary it doesnt trigger invites to go out to those 3rd parties... but the invite definitely is in the calendar as can also see it on mast google calendar.
If I then go and move the timing of the invite that has been created on the IOS device (by holding down and dragging to new time) this then immediately triggers an invite (new Invitiation, not reschedule) to be sent to the external email addresses...  any further modification to timing of invite then triggers 'reschedule' calendar invites to go out - so expected behaviour.
The issue is that IOS is not triggering the invite to go out to external parties who have been added to a newly created invite - and it only does this when the date/time of the invite is modified.
Spent about 1.5 hrs on phone to apple support yesterday - they have now passed on to 3rd level support....
Are others seeing the same behaviour as above?

  • Event Invite - Select email address to send from

OK...this is close to my issue, but not the solution I'm looking for:
    discussions.apple.com/message/7009550#7009550
Not to mention it's three years old....we should've progressed by now.
So, here's my issue.  Basically I use iCal and Mail for both business and personal applications.  I have a business email address and two personal email addresses associated with my ME card and being used in Mail.  I have a number of calendars set up in iCal, but basically am only interested in dealing with my "Work" and my "Home" calendars.  Is there a way for me to select (or set) which email address I send my invites from depending on which calendar I am using?  i.e.:  if I set up a meeting in my work calendar, I want it to come from my work email.  If I set up a meeting in my Home calendar, I want it to come from one of my personal email addresses.
The closest solution I have found is setting the "send new mail from" field in Mail Preferences to the appropriate email BEFORE sending the invite.  This does work, but is cumbersome, and not something I would readily remember to do every time.  Not to mention that it is 2011....shouldn't the ability to select my send from email address be a basic function of iCal?

Thanks. That answers my question, but doesn't help my situation. Not much sense in having alias emails, other then with my MAC/MobileMe, if I can't use them from my iPhone. I have to wait until I return home to reply if I don't want to send from my main email.

  • Ical will not process meeting responses from Outlook.  I send out meeting notices from Ical to nonOutlook and Outlook users.  The nonOutlook users respond and I see that in my Ical Meeting.  The Outlook users also respond but I do not see theirs

I send out meeting notices from Ical to nonOutlook and Outlook users.  The nonOutlook users respond and I see the green check mark in my Ical Meeting.  The Outlook users also respond but I see a gray "?" as if they didn't respond.  Has anyone had this issue and if so, is there a fix?  I'm currently running OS X 10.10.2    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Steve

No get this:  I received a reply from another Mac user using iCal 4.0.4 showing "event accepeted" in the subject. But my iCal 5.0 will NOT recognize his acceptance.  What is going on?

  • How do i delete the Tuesday 9 graphic from ical invites?

How do you delete the "Tuesday 9" graphic from iCal invites?  Everytime I send an invite from iCal it gets tagged with this Tuesday 9 graphic, which is supremely annoying and very misleading for those you're sending the invite to.  Yes, I understand the signficance of Tuesday 9, but I'm trying to get past the childishness of that and actually have a functional iCal experience!
    Thanks...

This is in the Videos app ? If it is then you can hide it (you can't permanently delete any item from your purchase history) via your computer's iTunes, and it should' then show for redownloading : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
You can also turn off the showing of videos that are in the cloud via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos 'off'

    Sorry for the delay...
I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.
    Thanks for the help, anyway!!

  • TS3276 I receive a pop up from ICal saying the server does not recognize me user name and password.  This started yesterday.  I have no problems with receiving or sending emails through Mail

I receive a pop-up from ICal saying the server does not recognize my user name and password for my me.com email address.  This started yesterday and occurs about every 5 minutes or so.  There are no problems with receiving or sending email through Mail.  I did change me email password several days ago but have no problems sending/receiving since then.

I fixed the problem.  I opened Preferences in ICal and entered my new password.  No more pop-ups
