• Confirming method to secure web services through oracle web service manager

Hi All,
I am just wondering about the method to secure web service through oracle web service manager.
I have a unsecure web service "helloworld" which is deployed on JWSDP1.6 toolkit.I want to secure it through oracle web service manager.
Inorder to secure this unsecure web service,I use gateway(web service manager for securing web service using message level security through certificate).
So when client want to access the helloworld service,it contacts the gateway securely and gateway intern connect to original web service after decrypting and verification of the signature.When gateway gets response from the web service,it signs the response message and then encrypt and passs on to the client.
So my question is,is it the right way to secure web service?
As I am getting the following fault exception :

• Invoking Web service from iProc Workflow Notification,OAF Changes?

I have a Requirement to Digitally sign the Requisition before the requisition is finally approved. We have a role in iProcurement, 'Certifying Official' , who would be the final approver. When the 'Certifying Official' receives the notification and clicks the 'Approve' button , we make a call to a web service to get the Digital signature and display a new page with the Requisition information back to the user. The user can choose to either save or cancel the Signature , if they save the signature we will display a confirmation page and comeback to the workflow process .
I was wondering what a better approach would be
1) Cusomize the OA Framework (Extend the controller) notification page and call the web service to digitally sign the Requisition and forward the user to a new page. Based on the user selection, I will have to re-direct to the new page or comeback and execute the workflow.
2) Customize Oracle workflow. If choose the workflow route, I was wondering If i would be able to display new pages based on the user action.
3) Have a link on the Notification page.
Thanks

You can use either of these two options. Even with using option 2 you have to extend the controller to fetch the nextPage from the workflow using appropriate API's. So better use the first option by extending the controller, call the webservice and forward to the required page.

• Error while invoking web service through weblogic 10

While invoking a particular web service from other system it gives following error in instance finder
exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: Read timed out
After that when it is invoked and run without error, we are getting double identical entiries in our database one for failed one and other for successful.
suppose if it is failed 3 times and after that it succeeds then we are getting 4 identical entries in DB (3 failed and 1 success).
Entries updated in DB as per API so we cant change logic.
Can anyone suggest how it can be avoided.?
what is the root cause of this error and how it can be handled?

Which version/platform are you using?
The thing you need to consider here is that the JDev proxy settings do not affect the BPEL server.
So if the BPEL server cannot connect to your webservice, it will not be because of any Jdev setting.
Check the proxy settings on your BPEL server (on 10.1.2 developer install it will be in obsetenv.bat, on 10.1.3 it will be a commandline property of the JVM - see AS Control administration page for the JVM)

• Invoking web service through apex.

Apex 4.1,
I'm trying to bind a simple web service to my apex page. Web service is hosted in a different server. When i try to add the path reference of WSDL file i'm getting the error message. Obviously its expecting a proxy server address to be configured. But we don't have a proxy server to access our web service. Even we were able to bind the same service to an infopath form by directly giving the WSDL file path.
Greatly appreciate if someone can assist me on this.
Thanks

• Error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from Oracle BPEL..

Hi ,
We are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).
For the BPEL process we are following the same steps as given in an AMIS blog : - [http://technology.amis.nl/blog/1607/how-to-call-a-ws-security-secured-web-service-from-oracle-bpel]
but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
&ldquo;Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message&rdquo;
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Saurabh

Hi James,
Thanks for the quick reply.
We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.

• Problems to invoke a secure Web service from Oracle BPM Studio 10.3

Hi all
I'm trying to consume a web service through HTTPS protoloco Oracle BPM Studio v10.3, but I get the following error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.

Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

• How to call a web Service from Oracle Applications?

Hi friends,
I've posted this question on OA Framework forum , but may be it's more appropiated put it here. Sorry for do it again:
It's about how to call a web service from a Form or a .sql (via Request) in Oracle Applications:
Could you please explain here the detailed steps (with code example if it's possible) to invoke a webservice from Oracle Applications?.. how did yo do it...?
I've read differents posts here and the 33097.1 metalink note (by the way, the first recommended link in this note is broken...), but there are lots of theorical concepts and no real examples to see how/from where invoke the WS
I'll have to call one webservice (I suppose the customer will give me the interface implementation)...but I've never did it with Applications so that's why I ask you for all the detailed steps...
I work with Forms 6i, Apps 11.5.10.2 and DB 9.2.0.7.
Thanks a lot.
Jose.

Hello Jose,
I did using java program to call BPEL web services in 11.5.10.
I pasted below the metalink note for your reference (Note:250964.1)
The idea is first write a java program to call the webservice (in my case it is calling an BPEL web service, so this may not help directly), test it.
Then port the java program as specified in the note, so that you could call your web service through concurrent manager scheduler.
Is this ok?
Thanks
Arun.

How to register and create a Java concurrent program for Oracle Applications
Release 11i
Solution
========
1. Create your Java Concurrent Program (JCP) , using a text editor.
/*===========================================================================+
Concurrent Processing Sample Code

FILENAME
Hello.java

DESCRIPTION
Sample Java concurrent program
About the simplest possible program, just writes a message to the
logfile and output file.

HISTORY
$Log$

+===========================================================================*/
package oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample;
import oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.*;
public class Hello implements JavaConcurrentProgram {
public static final String RCS_ID = "$Header$";
public void runProgram(CpContext ctx) {
ctx.getLogFile().writeln("-- Hello World! --", 0);
ctx.getOutFile().writeln("-- Hello World! --");
ctx.getReqCompletion().setCompletion(ReqCompletion.NORMAL, "");
=======================================
End Sample
=======================================
2. Create a sample directory under $JAVA_TOP:
$ mkdir $JAVA_TOPoracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample
3. Copy Hello.java into $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample:
$ cp $HOME/Hello.java $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample
4. Compile your java program:
javac $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/cp/sample/Hello.java
5. Test at the command line with following syntax:
jre -Ddbcfile=$FND_TOP/secure/your_dbc_file.dbc \
-Drequest.outfile=./outfile \
oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run \
oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample.Hello
6. Register your custom java concurrent program with Oracle Applications.
a. Navigate: Concurrent > Program > Executable
b. Enter details into the form
Executable: JCPHELLO
Shortname: JCPHELLO
Application: Application Object Library
Execution Method: Java Concurrent Program
Execution File Name: Hello (Insert a name that does not contain space or period)
Execution File Path: oracle.apps.fnd.cp.sample
c. Save the details
d. Navigate: Concurrent > Program > Define
e. Enter details into the form
Program Name: JCPHELLO
Program Shortname: JCPHELLO
Application: Application Object Library
Executable: Choose JCPHELLO from LOV
Executable Options :
f. Save the details
7. Add this new concurrent request to your responsibility request group.
a. Navigate > Security > Responsiblity > Request
b. Query System Administrator
c. Add new row and choose TestJava
d. Save the changes.
8. Run your new Hello Java Concurrent Program
Navigate: Request > Run

• SOAP Fault while invoking ISG Service through BPEL

Hi,
I am trying to invoke a EBS R12 pl sql API exposed as a web service through integrated SOA gateway. But i am hitting the same error for different API`s that i have tried with. the error is :
<remoteFault>
<part name="summary">
<summary>Error occured while service was processing.</summary>
</part>
<part name="detail">
<detail>oracle.j2ee.ws.client.jaxws.JRFSOAPFaultException: Client received SOAP Fault from server : Error occured while service was processing.</detail>
</part>
<part name="code">
<code>{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server</code>
</part>
</remoteFault>
I have supplied the r12 credentials through the composite WS Policies and the header details for the API as well. I am also able to call the API through PL/SQL code. Any reason why this error is occuring.

My 2 cents here - are you using ?wsdl for accessing the wsdl? Reason I am asking this is because you get a fault message as you have posted, i.e., The action (ABC#) did not identify an operation, looks like you are hitting the service directly instead of querying for the wsdl. Also, while you are using this wsdl in your PS/BS, for example, maybe in a route action, are you sure you are selecting the operation from the list of operations this wsdl has?
