Invoking DIscoverer Report Using Zoom on Apps Form

HI there
I've seen this on client site but never done it myself. Does anyone have any documentation or guidance on how to set up a form personalization so that the zoom menu option on a form links to a discoverer report, potentially passing parameter values to limit the data? Can forget the parameter side if it's complicated for now as we don't have any full requirements.

Hi,
You can use the Launch a URL or Launch a function builtin to link to a Discoverer report using Forms Personalization.
Look at Metalink Note:420541.1 and the Discoverer Configuration Guide for more details.

Zoom functionality is very simple just follow the bellow steps
• Enter the Form Personalization form. (M) Help > Diagnostics > Custom Code > Personalize.
• Rule Seq: 10
• Description: Create Menu Item
• Trigger Event: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE
• Context: User and set the value to your user name (don't forget to do this for every Rule you define)
• Select the Actions tab
• Actions Seq: 10
• Type: Menu
• Menu Entry: SPECIAL31
• Menu Label: Discoverer Report
• Rule Seq: 30
• Description: Open Discoverer Report
• Trigger Event: SPECIAL31
• Context: User and set the value to your user name
• Actions Seq: 10
• Type: Builtin
• Builtin Type: Launch a Function
• Function Code: XXX---Function name
• Function Name: wil be defaulted from the code
• Save your work and exit all the forms.
Try it out!!!

Hi User,
Create a new shared folder.
Provide access to all the users.
Now, ask the user who created the report in 'My Folders' to save the report in this new shared folder.
And, Delete those reports in 'My Folders'.
Now, as the report is saved in New shared folder you can access - this one.
Else--- Ask the user who created the report in my folder to make sure that it is available to all users. (Permissions - Permission should need to be provided for Administrator group)

Invoking crystal reports using weblogic

          We are invoking crystal reports using it's CGI component
          ie wcscgi.exe.we have placed the exe in cgi-bin directory
          created in public_html directory.During the runtime
          the following error occurs:
          on the weblogic error log :
          "Failed to exec cgi script"
          on the java console(client):
          IOexception or EOFexception is fired along with message
          Bad TSLV record..
          Please suggest if anybody has come accross similiar problem.

I have a question as to, is it possible to call a discoverer report created in discoverer desktop and which is stored in the database., from an Oracle Apps form using the following method
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT(url,target).. and if yes what url needs to be passed.

If you have a 11.5.10 instance with Advanced Supply Chain Planning setup (of a Vision Instance), apply 4103334 PLANNING DETAIL REPORT FOR MSC PATCHSET J
Then look at the function MSCPLDTL_DISC, it makes a call with Parameters Workbook=MSC_PLAN_DET_REP_WB&Parameters=Sheet~1*, of Type SSWA plsql function and HTML call OracleOasis.RunDiscoverer.
The form that launches the Discoverer report is MSCPLDTL.fmb.

Invoking Discoverer Report (Plus) from URL in 10.1.2

Was previosuly able to drill from a URL (embedded URL generated in OFA) to open discoverer 9.0.4 and able to pass username and password (Applications EUL). Since upgrading to 10.1.2 this is now not possible as it will not accept the password?

You are correct in that this has been retired. This is because having the password displayed in a URL is a security violation.
You are correct in saying that a POST operation will do this. These work just fine.

Is is possible to call a Discoverer report directly from a 6i form? How about from a 9i form?
I know calling an Oracle Reports (.rdf) is possible; my focus is on Discoverer.

Deleting Discoverer report from Admin

Hi,
We have exported a discoverer report using Admin from a database D1.
Then imported that report using admin in another database D2.
But i couldn't see the report in the desktop of database D2....don't know why....
Can anybody sugggest a way to delete this report from Admin of database D2 ?

Actually we were not able to see the report in the desktop though we tried in different ways.
So we did the following to delete the report from Admin using command prompt as follows
dis4adm.exe /connect <eulowner>/<eulowner password>@<database> /delete /workbook "<workbook name>"
where "<workbook name>" is either "EUL Data Definition" or "Query Statistics".

Discoverer Report unable to Save As

Hi,
I am unable to save a Discoverer Report using Discoverer Viewer ?
Its giving the following error message.
Please help.
"The application encountered an invalid state.
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying

Hi Ram
Most likely you are on either a non-upgraded or old cumulative patch version of Discoverer. This issue happens a lot on the out-of-the-box Discoverer - 10.1.2.48.18 but goes away when you upgrade to 10.1.2.2. You should also patch up to the most recent cumulative patch, which as of today is CP8.

Discoverer report with parameters and functions

I am new to Discoverer. Is there a way to create a report (with parameters) of one line per customer such that the following data will be displayed for each customer?
Among the parameters is: from_date (month & year) ,to_date
The basic query gives totals for each date (month & year) for every customer.
Among the fields displayed:
1-customer_id,
2-balance until from_date,
3-total activity between from_date and to_date
I have a function to calculate the total balance until from_date, but then I cannot get the total activity on the same line. I tried using another function and I tried using a total calculation but to no success.
Is this possible?

You need to run the report in Viewer first and then see copy the URL from the address line of the browser. Then you open another browser and paste the URL. You may well be prompted for a username and password but hopefully the correct report with the right parameters will then execute.
Assuming this works you then paste the same URL link into Portal and you should be able to get the report to run.

How to call discoverer report with parameters over http link?

I'm using oracle application server 9.0.4 (incl. discoverer).
I have an oracle portal report where I want to call a discoverer report for each line over a http link. It is always the same discoverer report - with each line I want to pass parameters to my discoverer report.
How can I pass parameters to the report? Is there another way rather than using GET parameters?

Are you using OEM 9i or 10g GC?
Statistics gathering is done in a different way depending on which platform you are on. However, when you submit a job to do anything including stats gathering, the job is scheduled by OEM and sent to the agent. So, you can close your "client" because it's not doing anything. The job has been submitted and will run as scheduled.

Launching discoverer reports from portal, limitation..

Hi, I have already discussed this matter via a metalink SR to find that portal cannot launch a discoverer report using discoverer plus, but I have also been referred here by the metalink people so 'product management' can clarify whether the functionality we are seeking is never going to be implemented or if it may be in planning for the near future.
Specifically, the users want to be able to launch the discoverer reports in discoverer plus, through a portal application accessed on their browsers. (instead of discoverer viewer).

Actually there is, we just had to work the metalink guys a bit harder. We found this in the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Configuration

How to order the Discoverer reports through MENU function sequence

I created 20 Discoverer reports functions in the MENU form, there is a sequence column,
but when the 20 Discoverer reports displayed on OSO, they are not ordered by the sequence number, looks like just randomly listed. How can I make the 20 Discoverer Reports ordered by the sequence number when displayed on OSO?
