Invoking Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 4 asks for Camera Raw Plug-in 7.0
I have just downloaded and installed Adobe Lightroom 4.0. When I try to invoke "Photo / Edit in Photoshop CS 5.1" I get the warning "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 7.0 for full compatibility. Please update the camera raw plug-in using the update tool available in the Photoshop help menu". However, the update function in Photoshop CS5.1 says that there are no updates available and searching adobe.com I can find no references to Camera Raw plug-in 7.0. What is one to do? Thanks.
No, the warning is not the issue. As I've said, "supported cameras" are not the problem.
I do initial processing on my images, then using Lightroom CMD E push them to Photoshop for further editing. The message says "7.0 may be required for full compatibility" should I ignore that warning and click "Open Anyway" because there really aren't any compatibility issues?
LR 4 Develop module is much different than LR 3, just as CS5 version of ACR is different than what I've seen in the CS6 beta. My assumption is there would be compatibility issues - as the warning says - when using LR4's develop engine then passing it on to CS5. I don't use ACR in Photoshop since I use Lightroom, I use Photoshop for detailed image editing in conjunction with the Nik Software selective tool run as a window within Photoshop.
So how about a clear answer: Just click "Open Anyway" and everything will work great? When I first work on an image in LR4, then further edit it in Photoshop CS5 with ACR 6.7 installed, Save and Close the image in Photoshop sending it back to Lightroom it will all work just like yesterday when I did all that in Lightroom 3 without any error messages?

CS5 won't open NEF files from D600, despite updating camera raw plug in. How do I fix this?
The D600 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and later - not CS5 unfortunately.

Can't open dng file in Photoshop cs5 from Lightroom 5.6
Hello, I've searched around and can't find the answer to my question.
Technical details:
OS X v10.8.5
Photoshop CS5 (ver12.1) Camera Raw ver 6.7.1.340
Lightroom ver 5.6 (Camera Raw ver8.6)
Camera: Nikon D600
Minimum camera raw version to support D600 Raw is ver 7.3 and Lightroom ver 4.3
I know that my version of PS doesn't support my Nikon D600 raw files so I've used the Adobe DNG converter and converted a raw file so I can process in PS. I can open the DNG file directly in PS and get the ACR screen to perform my edits. However, what I really want to do is open the DNG file in PS from LR.
While in LR, if I select Edit in -> Adobe Photoshop CS5, I get the notification from LR that "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera raw plug-in version 8.6 for full compatibility". I would have expected that regardless of whether I opened the (same) dng file from PS or LR (and edit in PS), that once in PS. the ACR screen in PS would be presented. Can anyone explain to me why this is the case and if this is normal or expected behaviour? Thanks
Also:
Adobe DNG converter preferences = Use Camera Raw 6.6 and later
Lightroom preferences = File Handling -> Use Camera Raw 6.6 and later
Thank you in advance,
MarkAs Station_two mentioned, you're using a version of LR that is not compatible with the older version of PS CS5. I don't know it LR has the ability to save DNGs to work in older versions of PS. If not, you will need a DNG converter to save them to the version of Camera Raw that PS CS5 can handle or upgrade PS.

Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 and can't update Camera Raw plug-ins
Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 (Win7 64-bit). It says, the model not supported by Camera Raw. Tried updating Camera Raw plug-ins for d800 but keep getting error message: Update failed, Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Re-install the latest application manager but still the same error message. How to fix?

Still Looking for Camera Raw Plug-In for CS4
I have Adobe CS4, and, after extensive searching, cannot find the correct version of the Camera Raw plug-in for my Mac (OS 10.6.8). I just did successfully download and install the DNG converter 8.1 for Macs. Today I downloaded version 5.4 for mac then it told me to quit before proceeding with the installation, that there was a newer version available. Adobe states my camera's minimum requirement for Camera Raw is version 5.4.

Can anyone guide me to the right one? Camera Raw only been a dream until now. I finally have a great DSLR that supports raw, I've been playing around with it in iPhoto, but it's now time for me to take this to the next level.
Thanks very much.Ask such specific questions on the Camera RAW or Photoshop forums and include info about your camera. If it's a newer model, this may ber perfectly normal and the files may require you to upgrade to CS5.1 so you can use the latest versions of Camera RAW or use the standalone DNG converter...

Edit in Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 3.2 doesn't open file in Photoshop
Hi,
I've just made a complete fresh install of Lightroom 3.2 and Photoshop CS5 extended on my new iMac (OS 10.6.4, x64)
Now I'm trying to edit raw-files in Photoshop CS5.
Normally a popup should appear to ask in which format the photo should be opened in PS.
But no popup is shown, Photoshop starts immediately, but without actually opening the photo.
If I configure Photoshop as secondary editor this problem does not appear, and everyting works fine.
But in that case I miss the option for a secondary editor like for example DxO...
What to do?
Regards,
MennoMenno,
I can't help you with your primary problem, as I'm not a CS5 user.
But regarding your second concern with having CS5 as a secondary editor and therefore not having the option for additonal external editors:
You can have as many external editors as you like, e.g. CS5 as one, DXO as one, Nik Viveza as one and so on. All you have to do is create different External Editor Presets in Preferences for each desired external editor.

Image garbled when exporting to Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 3
I posted this in the Lightroom forum, but I am cross-posting it here in case anyone has run into something similar...
I purchased a new 2011 Sandy Bridge MacBook Pro. I loaded Lightroom 3.3 and CS5 Photoshop onto it. Unfortunately, whenever I export a picture from Lightroom into Photoshop for editing (using CMD-E), the image is completely garbled in Photoshop. It's particularly confusing, because the layer preview looks correct in Photoshop, but the actual image in the editing window is completely illegible. I've attached screenshots to illustrate. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
KentI'm having the same problem and I have a brand new (4 day old) MacBook Pro too. My images look like this...
It only works when I change the LR3 preferences to edit in CS5 as sRGB and not ProPhoto RGB. However, I want to use ProPhoto RGB as my workspace in CS5 so I need to figure out what the problem is... -
Launching Photoshop CC from dock asks for serial number [was:what is this?]
What is this? I just want to use photoshop on my laptop using the same license I use for my desktop. Please help
Hi.
photoshop CC
Laptop = OSX 10.8.5
Desktop = OSX 10.8.5
Launching photoshop from dock. It asks for serial number. I enter serial number copied directly form my account with adobe.
Error says "This serial number is not valid for Adobe Photoshop CC."
I'm confused as to why Photoshop worked before on my laptop but now it does not. Did something expire? Do I need a separate serial number for a different computer (ie. my laptop). I don't understand.
Thanks. -
I just got a Nikon D600, took some photos this weekend, now CS5 wont open the raw files. I have downloaded all the updates, even deleted CS5, and re installed - still wont open the files

CS5 and Lightroom 4-different camera raw versions
Lightroom 4 has a camer raw version 7 and my CS5 has 6.7? Trying to figure out the easiest way to get them both to be 6.6 which appears to be the latest versions and I have no idea how I got the versions I have. When converting from lightroom to CS5 the photo don't look the same and I assume this is the reason why. So, what do I need to delete to get these versions the same?
The ACR 6.7 is a beta which should be superceeded by the final relase soon. In terms of LR4 yes it's based on ACR 7 from the upcoming Photoshop CS6 (whose beta is out) but there is no way to back LR4's version down...
When opening from LR4 into Photoshop CS5 you should select the option to Render in Lightroom. That will have LR4 correctly render the image into Photoshop. -
Problem going from Lightroom 3 to Camera Raw 4.1
I edit in LR3 then export to the original folder. When I open the edited photo in Camera Raw it is completely different. Not only is it different but it looks terrible. I'm making sure that when I export it from Lightroom that I have the correct version of Camera Raw chosen so I'm not sure what the issue is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Lightroom 3 is using the equivalent of ACR 6.x so ACR 4.1 cannot use the develop settings from that version of LR.
Lightroom 1 is fully compatible with PS CS3 ACR 4.x -
Export to HDR/Panorama asks for Camera RAW 7?
When exporting multiple images to CS5, get this:-
No update to 7 apparent. In the past, versions of Lightroom and Camera Raw have been synchronised. It is likely when LR4 is released they will be again. Until then, realize you are working on a beta of the Next version of Lightroom with the current version of PS/ACR.

Where is the Camera raw plug-in?
I just installed photoshop elements and I require the Camera raw plug-in; However, I have been looking for the dowload for two days now. Can someone point me to a link where I can download Camera raw for Elements 11?
Thanks in advance.A Camera Raw plugin should install when you installed photoshop elements 11.
(i believe version 7.1)
Look under Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw (windows) or Adobe Photoshop elements Editor>About Plug-In>Camera Raw (mac)
in the pse 11 editor to see the present version of camera raw installed.
(click on the words Camera Raw)
What operating system are you using?
Are you having trouble opening camera raw files from a certain camera in pse 11?
(what camera is it?)
Have you gone to Help>Updates from within the photoshop elements 11 editor to see if camera raw 7.4 is available and installed it?
