IOGear Bluetooth Mouse won't pair

Hello!
I bought an iogear bluetooth mouse and am trying to use it with my Powerbook 1.67 dual layer.
What happens is I set up device, choose mouse, and "Bluetooth Mouse" shows up in the list. I choose that. Next the setup assistant tells me it will try an empty passcode and of course fails.
The setup assistant never asks me for a pin code, and then tells me to make sure I set the proper code on my mouse
Anyone have any clue how I can get SUA to let me enter "1234" as my pin code?
Steve

I figured it out. I had to pair as "other device" not a "mouse" and then on the discovery screen I clicked "passkey options" and chose "use a specific passkey" which then on the following page prompted me, to which I entered "1234"

  • Bluetooth mouse won't pair after recent os updates

    Hi there,
Since I installed the two updates for snow leopard yesterday my bluetooth mouse will not pair.
I go to setup bluetooth device & when i press the button to make it discoverable it appears right
away so I click contnue & after a short while get the error message 'The pairing attempt was
unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OSX & bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported'.
On the initial discovery screen the messages 'searching for devices - one found' then 'updating 1
device name' appear. Have just tried pairing it on another windows system & it works fine!
    Any advice appreciated.

If using a 3rd party mouse, check with its manufacturer to determine if they have compatible drivers.
If using Apple's mouse, post in the Mouse Bluetooth forum area.

  • Bluetooth mouse won't pair automatically?

Anyone know how to get a blutooth mouse to automatically pair at boot time?
Currently I have to manually remove and add the device using the BT tool in System at every boot.
Mouse is a Logitech 270. OS X is up to date at 10.4.8. Bluetooth driver is the standard Apple driver. Didn't work with 10.4.6 & 10.4.7 either.....
Bluetooth is a neat technology, if it only worked as specified!
Occaisionally the mouse pairs automatically at boot for no apparent reason, sometimes turning BT off then on again works. Mostly it doesn't (work).
    Batteries are fresh.
Bluetooth driver says mouse is present but not connected. So it's not a device discovery problem, but a pairing problem.
I've tried powering up the mouse before booting, after booting, resetting the mouse before & after. Nothing seems to work. Help!

Have you tried adding it as a Favorite via System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices > select the device > click "Add to Favorites" ?
For the BT Mighty Mouse clicking it once then giving it a couple of seconds also has fixed similar non-pairing problems.

Apple Bluetooth keyboard won't pair with new iPad mini

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either.  Is my ipad defective?  Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0?  Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4.  Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0.  Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

  • Bluetooth mouse won't reconnect when switched on

I have a 2.4GHz Mac Min (last model before being replaced by the model without DVD drive) and a Mac USB keyboard.  I wanted to use a Bluetooth mouse as I don't like the trailing lead with a USB mouse, but I wanted a conventional three button type mouse as I need that for my RISC OS emulator program, so I bought a Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse.  I set it up in Bluetooth preferences with no problem and set it as a favourite.  It then worked very well and was comfortable, smooth and accurate.  The problem comes after I have turned it off, either when I am not going to be using the computer for a period of time, or at night, obviously to save batteries.  When I switch the mouse back on, the computer and mouse simply will not reconnect.  The only way I can get the mouse to reconnect is to plug in a USB mouse, delete the original device pairing, and set-up a new device again; or power the computer off and restart it.  Sometimes restarting the computer doesn't work as a dialogue box will open over the password screen saying it can't find any mouse, then it finds it and shows the correct Mac Address of the mouse but even clicking any of the buttons on the mouse it still won't actually control the mouse pointer!
I have another Bluetooth mouse, a Microsoft 5000, which I use with my MacBook Pro so I tried that with the Mac Mini and once paired it works fine, *including* after being turned off, reconnecting within a second of being turned back on.  So I asumed it was something to do with the Logitech mouse rather than the Mac Mini, and contacted Logitech.  As it was a new mouse they suggested it was faulty and I have been sent a new one.  However this one is the same and in one respect actually worse.  Once paired it works fine just like the original, but once it has been switched off, again it will not reconnect when switch on.  But with this one, even closing down the computer and restarting it won't connect the mouse.  The only way with this one is to delete the pairing and set-up a new pairing again.  That means whenever the computer or mouse are turned off, you have to connect a USB mouse so that you can get back in, delete the pairing and set-up a new pairing again, which is unacceptable.
However, if I boot the Mac Mini into Windows XP using bootcamp the Logitech mouse works as you would expect in all ways *including* reconnecting immediately after being turned on, if it has been turned off.  Also I tried this mouse with a 2006 iBook G4 1.42GHz OS X 10.4.11 and again it functions correctly including reconnecting immediately it is switched back on.  So these last two tests appear to show a fault with the Bluetooth firmware in Mac OS X on the new Mac Mini not a fault with the Logitech mice.  After all, it is using the same Bluetooth and aerial whether in Mac OS X or Windows but it will only reconnect when in Windows.  As a final test I set the MacBook Pro up for Windows 7 using bootcamp and again the mouse will not reconnect in Mac OS X on the MacBook Pro but it reconnects fine in Windows 7 on the same hardware.
Is there an answer to this problem?  Do you agree it is a firmware/software fault?  Does Apple know about it and are they going to do anything to correct the problem?  Thanks.  Roy

Yes, I do notice that connection can be lost sometimes and regaining it can be difficult. I have even had to go to the point of finding an old USB mouse to get it going again. I usually try turning off the switch on the mouse and then back on. Then I click it about 5 times or so, usually it picks it up again. Same thing with keyboard. Not sure if that helps at all. Good luck.

  • Bluetooth mouse won't work in windows

I have a microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse 5000 that works well in mac osx but when I go to windows 7 in bootcamp it reports that the bluetooth hid device driver is not working and the mouse won't work.
I can get it to detect the mouse and try to load the driver but then it says that the driver installation did not work.
In device manager the bluetooth hid device has a warning icon next to it and it says that the device is not working.
When I try to use my magic mouse in windows the same error happens and it says that the hid bluetooth device driver is not working.
Both mice work fine in mac osx and the microsoft mouse was working ok in windows until last week.
Since then, my son installed a couple of games in the windows side and the mouse started acting up the following day.
Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi!
I suffered this problem time and time again, I kept on pairing/un-pairing/re-pairing etc. and then for no reason at all it suddenly worked. What happened I do not know. Be patient. First off use a wired keyboard and wireless mouse and if that works stay with it for a while. Then try both wireless. I found my mouse was more temperamental than the keyboard. You may have to try wireless keyboard and wired mouse (USB into the computer direct).
Good luck let me know how it goes.

    Hi,
    just bought Targus bluetooth mouse:

However, my computer is not able to recognize it. When I try to connect it to the different computers, it works without problems so the problem must be on the side of my pc.

Any advice will be highly appreciated,
    Thank you,

    hi Fredecumber,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
Can you try to follow this article on how to pair a bluetooth device on Windows 8.
Also, when you try to pair the Targus bluetooth mouse to your Ideapad Yoga 13, do you get any error messages? Does it even see the mouse on the bluetooth device list?
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers

  • Bluetooth Mouse Won't Track

I changed the battery on my Bluetooth Mouse yesterday and now it won't track. It will still click, so the batteries are good and the connection is good.
    Any ideas?

    Hi !
I got exatly the same problem today : I changed Apple Mouse battery and then tracking had gone (only clicking was still OK).
I did reset PRAM and so on ... adding the mouse as a bluetooth device was always OK but still no tracking only click !
I put batteries away and left my Apple Mouse for a while on my desk ...
4 hours later, I put batteries back and was decided to update bluetooth firmware I had just downloaded ... I ran update software : it left two patches under Utilities folder to be launched.
I was decided to try it so I launched the bluetooth "configure new device" procedure one more : This time it worked !! The tracking was back !!
I think I will not use the patches just installed... that's enough !!
Hope my story can help someone !

  • Bluetooth Mouse cannot be paired with win7 on Bootcamp, MacBook Air... Please Help

I had installed Windows7 by Bootcamp on MacAir (OS 10.7.5) several weeks ago. In order to use external mouse and save USB port, I bought a Bluetooth mouse from Logitech. It is successfully done pairing with MacOS and working well, and it is definitely pariing with other Windows 7 PC as well.
But... when I tried to make pairing under Windows 7 under Bootcamp of my MacAir, it failed.
I tried it by Control Panel -> add device. The device name was successfully searched and shown on screen, and I selected it and press "next" to make pairing.... but I couldn't see the successful message and didn't work. The screen was not changed from "connecting....." message and did not go further....
Please help me. Someone said that I should upgrade or change the Bluetooth driver of Bootcamp, but I cannot find out how I do that.

I found the solution in another posting. Bluetooth setup data brought over by migration assistant is incompatible with the new Bluetooth chipset in the latest Air.  This fix worked for me:
    Go to:
    Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences
    delete (the old migrated files)
    com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile
    stop Bluetooth and logout.
    Login and restart Bluetooth.
You my need to delete any devices and re-pair.

  • Bluetooth mouse won't wake from sleep mode

as title says, yesterday all of a sudden magic mouse just stopped working.  It wouldn't connect after waking up from sleep.  It would work only if I restart the computer.  Then if I put my MBP to sleep and wake up, bluetooth mouse will not work again...  So frustrating.  Please help.

I've done some more experimentation and found a workaround. I had Sleep and the Screensaver both set to Never, and by activating the Screensaver the wake up issue has gone away. This doesn't change the fact that there is an issue with my ATV sleeping when it shouldn't and failing to wake up, but having the screensaver active stops it sleeping in the first place I guess.
It's slightly annoying because I like to have music playing with the description and album art running, and this disappears when the screensaver comes on, but it is better than unplugging the thing every time I use it. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update, because it only appeared in the last one.

  • Optical Bluetooth Mouse will not Pair in Snow Leopard 10.6.1 on MBP5,5

I have this mouse, with full batteries, just now tested and working on Windows XP with another laptop, and with an older MacBook Pro running 10.5. I can see this device in the Bluetooth set-up, and when I click Continue, the window shows a connection established, then another connection, and then an error that the device could not be paired. I tried every type of Password Options, including setting as 0000 and 1234. I have no other Bluetooth devices to test with either.
IOGEAR - GME225B - Bluetooth Optical Mini Mouse
I followed the instructions from other posts, but still cannot pair the mouse.
    -Deleted Macintosh HD>library>preferences>com.apple.bluetooth.plist
-Reset PRAM with Command-Option-P-R keys at boot
-Installed Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Snow Leopard
Nothing works, but I know for sure that this mouse does work, and that it has worked on previous versions of OSX and other MacBooks.

I have the same issue. Same mouse. Its definitely snow leopard. I have 2 macbooks that use that mouse that were upgraded to snow leopard from leopard. On one of them I had deleted the mouse and encoutered the same errors trying to add it - it worked on my other machine. But then as a test (bad idea) I deleted it off the other machine and was also unable to recreate the connection thereby narrowing the issue to snow leopard. I have tried pretty much everything for hours. Deleting pllist file, smc reset, nvram etc... I think I have to wipe off the machine and install leopard again and start from there

  • Apple BT keyboard & mouse won't pair with PlayStation 3.

I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse (mouse is the older single-button BT model). Neither one will pair with the PS3, with new BT keyboard/mouse support via 1.6 firmware update. When I go to register BT mouse/keyboard it sees them fine, sees their BT names, but then gets an error when trying to pair, on each device.
Normally I wouldn't post this in an Apple forum, but since they are Apple devices and they pair just fine with Windows PCs, I'm wondering if there's some way I need to force pairing mode or something to get this to work.
Any ideas offhand how to fix this?
Anyone with a PlayStation 3 gets this working with Apple keyboard/mouse, please post how you did it. I don't want to buy a separate BT keyboard and mouse kit for the PS3 when I already have these in great condition, seeing little use.

Sorry I missed this and didn't respond. If you can afford both, keep both. Even at this early stage, my preference overall, especially for the long term, is by quite some bit, the PS3 and it's games, many now and lots more in the coming year. Also, I think Blu-ray will eventually "win" the HD movie format battle, meaning some studios besides Sony Pictures may drop Blu-ray exclusive releases and release on both formats, and Universal will step off HD DVD exclusive releases and release on both formats, but Blu-ray eventually be the only format on which you can get everything. But for the short-term future you will have more game variety for your 360, so you might want to wait and save for the PS3, or trade at a later date if you can still get good value out of the trade.
Since this reply is ex post facto, it seems like the PS3 blew out the European and Australian launches. Quite a bit different than console's initial reception here in the States.

  • Bluetooth mouse suddenly quit pairing

Is anybody else finding problems with bluetooth devices? My Logitech mouse gave up.
Changed the batteries.  Tried and retried pairing.  Now using old wired mouse and I
    hate it.

Since my original post, I got my mouse working again by deleting it and then re-pairing.  But the connection is lost when my MacBook Pro is either restarted or cold booted.  Further, the mouse is no longer discovered.  Took your advice and turned off everything Bluetooth.  Still no discovery.  So just for yucks I took the Mac where there was no electrical interference.  Still no discovery.  Then tried my (Apple) Bluetooth keyboard, which was working fine a short time ago.  It too is not discovered.  At this point I have no connectivity to Mac whatsoever.  It is clear that when the machine is restarted, the connections get lost.  It's not a mouse, iPhone, iPad, or Apple Keyboard problem.  Something has changed in the OS and really wish that Apple would fix it.

Ha, they dont even want to let me download lion with this new machine I just bought less than a month ago.
Not sure I undertstand that.  You machine came with lion didn't it?
This is not an isolated problem however, I've read alot of other people with this same situation going on, so I think I'm going to try putting snow-leopard on this thing and see if I can narrow it down to an oversight/bug w/os x 10.7.2.
Ok, I'm confused.  Did you intend to say you are going to try to put lion 10.7.0, or 10.7.1?  The reason I ask is that if yours is a new machine that came with lion, then from what I read you cannot install a version of the OS earlier than what was originally installed on your machine.  Check some of the hits on this google search.
