IOS 4.0 causing my iPod touch to freeze during restore and update

I know there have been issues with the new OS and many questions too. I am so frustrated right now so sorry if I am asking a question that has been asked over and over:
I have a 2G iPod touch. The new OS is updated, but when I try to restore and update I get an error (14); the loading bar freezes about a quarter of the way through. On top of this, my iPod is locked on a screen with a usb cable and the itunes logo.
I have tried reinstalling itunes and re-restoring my ipod countless times. help! what do I do?

Im getting this exact problem i have Restored and Updated it 5 times now and left it while i go out for the day and over night but never gets past 1/4 of the loading bar then when i reset my ipod USB cable at Itunes logo and on computer it says that everything (Software, Memory etc.) is N/A so im guessing if this every gets solved im gonna have to start all over again

I've bought my new ipod touch then I Updated to the new version. After that, there was an error showing on iTunes that my ipod touch had to be restored. Then in the middle of the reparing, it apears a message saing it couldnt restore due to error 1611. Please help me! I Have no idea what to do. I have allready reinstaled itunes and all apple aplicantions and it still happens this.
When I connect Itouch to itunes, it says that its on restore mode and happens this error. And all the discriptions of the itouch on iTunes says "N/A".

Wow, and to think I was alone in this! I think this must be a glitch in the Itouch or something, because NO ONE seems to have an answer. I am having the exact same problem as all of you. SOMEONE - PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!

What is the cause of "error 1015" when you're trying to restore and update an iphone 3gs? My iphone is currently in recovery mode and can not get out of it. All the information about my iphone shown on itunes is only marked as- N/A. How can I get my iphone out of recovery mode and get it to recover and update?

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
In other words, either your phone is jailbroken and you are sadly out of luck or you are trying to downgrade iOS.

IOS 5 is causing my 3rd Gen. Ipod touch to freeze, slow down and not load music

On I-tunes I have been adding music but it doesn't work and my ipod is extrememly slow to react when I touch something, like a 3 second delay. It also says that I have 3.5 gb full of "Other" stuff, what is that "other" stuff? Also my games won't open. Can I change the software back or do I need a new I-pod?

Mine was a normal size then when some apps crashed and burned and in the midst of synch and such, got to be 3.5GB and finally 4.1GB.
At that point I tried - or it did I should say - when I moved to another computer.
Using Wifi to sync and restore is slow and terrible. What takes 30 minutes turned into 4 hours and counting.
Using the cloud may someday make sense and WORK better but for me, I have one ID and 3-4 computers (varies) and 4 are authorized. And I just want to stop wasting time on iOS / Cloud / iTunes and be able to use my device and my media if I want.
Twitter integration sounded great, but i use UberTwitter and other apps, and those are not "integrated" and prefer my default browser Opera. Or maybe iCab Mobile. But there is no such thing as "switching" default Twitter or browsers. Yes. TwitterDeck is also nice and each 'twit app has its own features and strengths. Why they can't be primary. Need a new free-browser-from-OS again.
I added one or two apps on iPod that when I then connected to iTunes would cause the iPod to dismount until I deleted them from the iPod.
There are compatiblity issues with apps + iTunes + devices.
Could also contrubute to expanded size of Other.

My iPod Touch (4gen) won't sync and update

I have a 4th generation iPod Touch. Pretty new right?
Either way I tried updating to iOS5.0 and it said I had to delete pretty much everything and restore it to the new OS. I did. Unfortunately after it wiped my touch clean, an error occurred. It says "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored because an unexpected error occurred (1611)" or some jazz like that. I researched it, so I closed everything down, restarted my computer, and switched the USB ports like an Apple tech told someone else to do. I try syncing again, and this time I get error (1601). I have no idea what to do. I tried putting my ipod in to DFU mode, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and I just get booted back to error (1611) or (1601). I've been at it for a few hours and needless to say am very frustrated.
What are these errors 1611 and 1601, and how do I fix them? reinstalling itunes didn't work. Putting my ipod into DFU mode didn't work. And I definitely don't want to buy another ipod because of a software problem with Apple's "update", especially because my 4th gen is still new. I had no problems syncing my ipod with iOS 4 either. So its just the "updated" software.
I'm using a Windows Vista, so its not like its an outdated computer either.

Turned Off iPod Touch 1st Gen During Restore. Did I kill it?

My 1st Generation iPod Touch wasn't being detected by iTunes so I chose the reset option that erases all data. While it was restoring, I thought it froze because the white progress bar under the apple stopped midway and I turned the iPod off. Now when I switch it on, the black screen with the apple logo switches on for about 10-seconds, and then the iPod powers off. My mac doesn't detect it and I've tried holding the home and the sleep key. What else can I do?

My ipod wasn't working so i clicked restore, but now it's frozen and shows the apple icon and the loading bar underneath.
I've unplugged it and tried again numerous times but it still get's stuck in the same spot.

1. Press-hold the Home button (big circle below the screen)and the Sleep/Wake button (on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
2. Continue holding both buttons until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart.
3.You may let go when you see the silver Applelogo.

I have two iPods. One 3rd gen and one 4th gren. My 4th gen has had a LOT of problems with lagging and freezing, etc, so I exchanged it for a new one hoping it would be better than the last, but the problem keeps repeating itself, so I exchanged again. Before I exchanged it I updated my 3rd gen (4.0 software) to the new 5.1 iOS. Soon after the 3rd gen starting lagging and freezing, so I realized that my iPod wasn't the problem, but the software itself ruined my iPod. My new 4th gen that I exchanged also has the same problem again. Does anyone else have the same problem? Help?

Yes. With iOS 5 the iPod lags.Try restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod. That seems to help some other users.

Ipod touch 2G stops during restore

I have a 8gb touch and my daughter a 16gb touch both 2nd gen. We both have IOS4 running with no trouble but today when I synced her ipod to itunes it said there was ios 4.02. So I clicked to upgrade to the newest version. Now her ipod does nothing. I tried to contact support but they are saying I have to pay for help. But this is crazy since it was their upgrade that did it. I had no issues with the ipod before this. I am afraid to do anything with my ipod since hers is stuck in a restore loop it looks like. It has been sitting since last night in the same spot. The apple logo on the screen and a bar showing it is half loaded. Is there anything I can do or is it junk now like all the other people I am reading on this forum that upgraded their 2nd gens?

I have been struggling with this issue since getting a refurbished Touch to replace one that got fed to my washing machine. I could not for the life of me get it to restore on my pc..kept geting error 9. It has something to do with USB ports I guess. After talking to apple support..who were great and trying all the ports on my pc, i downloaded Itunes to my laptop and got it restored firdt try. Saturday morning I try syncing songs...no deal, it froze up my iTunes on my PC. Wouldn't work on laptop either. I go another 2 hour round with support and they send me to local Apple stoer. They check out the touch...give me new one. Get home to update and heres error 9 again, so I get out my laptop and try to restore the touch because it is now in restore mode and it it got stuck on waiting for iPod for like 15 minutes. Now the Touch is stuck on the apple icon with the empty bar screen for going on 2 hours now. Holding the power and home button down for 10 seconds DID NOT work, tried it multiple times. Anyone in the community have any ideas. I, in the time frame involved, have been able to successfully add items to my wifes Nano with no trouble at all from the PC that was giving me the error 9 message all the time.

wait for your ipod to finsh updateing for unplug it and wait for the battery to die. then hold the home button. then plug it in and wait for the apple symble to apper or connect to itunes to apear. should be able to do a recovery mode on it.

iOS 4.2.1 suggests that you may have 2nd generation Touch, which cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1
Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model. A quicker method may be to check the back casing. If your iPod has Model No.A 1288 etched into it, then it's a 2nd gen Touch.
Assuming that you are using the latest version of iTunes (today, that is 10.6.3), to check if your iPod can be updated, connect it to your iTunes and look on the Device/Summary pane. Select Check for Updates. If there is one, you will see a message telling you that and how to install it. However, if you see a message saying that your iPod is up-to-date, then it cannot be updated.

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried almost everything and I am nowhere near an Apple shop as I am working in Africa.

Give this a try:
Download iTunes 11.1. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. Select your device under the Devices heading in the iTunes' sidebar. Click on the Summary tab in iTunes' main window. Click on the Update button.
Note that the update servers are under heavy strain today.
