IOS 4.2.1 older app version

I have an iphone 3g, and I restored it because I had a problem with it. before the restore, if i would download an app that wasn't compatible woth ios 4.2.1, it would ask me to download an older version. But after the restore it doesn't ask it anymore and it just says the app is incompatible, so I can't download the majority of the apps!
Is there any way to force the 'download older version' prompt? I don't want to reset it again, because I just  got all my data back on it.
Thanks in advance

  • Where can I get older Apps version

    Hi,
I recvied iPod touch 3rd generation (?) which can updated to iOS 4.2.1 only
I tried several Apps - but all requested a newer iOS version. where can I get older Apps ?

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Is there any way to get an older app version of apple tv remote?

It's been several months since the apple tv remote app was updated to 3.0+.
Once I updated, I have not been able to control my apple tv (2nd gen).
I have 2 ipod touch (2nd gen as well) and neither can use the updated app to control our apple tv any more.
We've had to resort to using the aluminum remote (which we constantly are losing)
Long story short. Is there any way to get an older version of the app (say 2.4)? I've looked everywhere but everyone links back to itunes (and that only has the latest version). We're also stuck on iOS 4.2 because of hardware. There are a couple of sites out there but it seems that they are not legit as they ask for credit card info.
    Any help is appreciated.

You can only do so if you downloaded a previous version at some point in the past, and it's still in the iTunes library on your computer. If that version is updated too, maybe the old version is in Trash/Recycling Bin.

    Hello Steve
Yes you can, just drag the unwanted apps to the trash and empty it.

  • No Previous App Version Option in DPS App Builder 32.4.4?

We're trying to create an older iPad app version through app builder 32.4.4, but the app version box is grayed out at v32. Is there a way to create an older app version?

No, the only version supported now is v32.

  • Can you drop iOS 4 support for an app already in the App Store? What iOS version is good to target?

Now that AIR supports the MinimumOSVersion key, apps can set a specific minium version they will support. It wasn't available before, so it ended up in the app store with the default of 4.0.
Any device that AIR supported had to have ARMv7 anyways and I believe all ARMv7 iOS devices can update to at least 5.1.1, so would it be an issue with apple to drop iOS 4 support? Any device that could get the app before can upgrade to iOS 5+ for free to support it.
Only a small portion of people are still running iOS 4, and I get the feeling that most of those are folks with ancient ARMv6 devices that can't upgrade past iOS 4 and could never use the app anyways due to ARMv6. So why bother with testing for iOS 4 and possibly having to give iOS 4 related tech support?
If supporting 5+, is it a good idea to target 5.0 or 5.0.1 or 5.1 or 5.1.1 or what?

Any of the non-user generated resources is in the tmp or Cache folders (which are not backed up) on mine, so that shouldn't be an issue in my case.
I looked at the wiki for iOS 5 and i didn't see any developer-related features other than that 'do not back up' thing that were added between sub-versions of iOS 5, so maybe I should target 5.0?
I'm still wondering, how do you handle dropping older versions of iOS? Surly developers can't be expected to maintain support for discontinued versions of iOS forever just because their app has been around for awhile? Apps eventually need to advance and use new OS features and require performance of current devices. Just set the MinimumOSVersion key to 5.0 or whatever and that's it?

  • I upgraded to the new IOS, but lost data and apps. When I try and restore the only backup I see is the one made AFTER the lost data. How can I access an older backup from the cloud?

Why don't you talk to apple and find out if backup exists? That conversation with apple will stop your guessing.

  • Older apps, latest iOS compatibility?

Hi, I have a 3rd-gen iPod Touch. When I exchange it for the latest iPod Touch, will all the older apps still function? I'm aware some may not fill the entire screen, but is there any danger of any older apps (that have been abandoned) simply not working?

The old apps will work fine but, as you said might not make full use of the screen. To setup the new iPod:

  • Access to mobile functionalities in new 5.1.12 iOS app version?

I have not been able to find any documentation about this yet, and wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?
All of my users that have Enterprise ID's (we use these for VP's and GM's), after updating to 5.1.12, no longer have access to the document functionalities for annotation or email. The only option they have is 'Full Screen'. Likewise they no longer have the refresh option either. Our SAP user ID's are just fine. We have made no changes to any of our configurations on the backend.
Another odd thing that I noticed was that on my device, my app version was 5.1.12.4 from when I updated the app back a few weeks ago, different from the 5.1.12 that is available now. I deleted my app and redownloaded from the app store and now have 5.1.12 to make sure that I am testing on the same app as our users.
    Thanks

Is the device unlocked? Sounds like it may have been hacked to use on another network, since AT&T 18.0 is the latest AT&T carrier file.

  • Adobe Reader for Windows Phone cannot open older PDF versions?

I've found that Adobe Reader for Windows Phone displays the following error when I try to open certain PDF documents: "There was an error opening the document".
After doing some limited testing I found that it can successfully open PDF documents which were saved as "PDF version: 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)", but the error appears when it tries to open documents saved as the older format "PDF version: 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)". (I am checking the filetype version by opening the documents in Adobe Reader X on my PC and looking at the document properties).
My phone is a HTC 7 Mozart running Windows Phone 7.5. I noticed the problem when I was using the SkyDrive app to try and look at some PDF files I have saved in SkyDrive. SkyDrive downloads the file and then passes it to the Adobe Reader app to view. It works when I look at a newer version 1.5 PDF but not the older v1.3 type. Unfortunately my HP Photosmart 5510 scanner outputs scans as PDF files and only in the older file version.
I've tried reinstalling the SkyDrive app and the Adobe Reader app on my phone. (The Adobe Reader app is version 10.1.1, build 20120919).
Is this a known limitation, or is this a bug?
If this is a limitation that won't be fixed - is there an easy way I can convert my files to the newer file type? (Adobe Reader X on my PC doesn't seem to offer a way to convert existing files)
    Thanks!

  • After updating my i phone to the latest ios 7.0 software the apps I purchased are still accessible through the app store but not on the home screen how do i get them back

After updating my iphone 4s to the latest ios version 7 the apps that i purchased are no longer on the home screen and can only be found on the app store.. how can i get them back on the home screen? please help

You can move apps around in iOS 7 the same as iOS 6. Press an app icon until you see it wiggle; then drag it to where ever you want it to be. Drag it onto another app to create a folder with the two apps. Tap the Home button to stop the wiggle.

  • Message.app Version 7.0.1 (3322) does'nt show my picture when I chat from my mac Lion 10.8.5

Message.app Version 7.0.1 (3322) does'nt show my picture when I chat from my mac Lion 10.8.5
But my email show my picture.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Niel.
The website that I will use supports the following browsers:
    Internet Explorer v.8
    Internet Explorer v.9
    Internet Explorer v.10
    Internet Explorer v.11
    Mozilla Firefox v.32
    Google Chrome v.37, v.39
Safari v.5.1.7 (PC) and v.7.0.6 (iOS)
Other browsers and versions may not function well with the website. Therefore, they recommend to use one of the above-mentioned browsers.
Can I download any of these browsers to my MacBook Air if I already have a Safari browser? (can I have 2 browsers and which of those do you recommend that I download to my computer)?
    Thanks again!
