IOS 4.2.1 Playlist problem
Hi there. Haven't seen this elsewhere but I have found a bug in the iPod/iTunes software for iPad.
Since upgrading to 4.2, I cannot see podcasts that I add to a new playlist. That is, if I make a new playlist and add only podcasts, when I tap that playlist it just says "no music, get some from itunes". It does not display the podcasts I added. Nor does it eventually display them once I sync with my Mac. The playlists don't even transfer to my Mac empty, they just don't show up.

We'll....you could try a few things and see if any of them resolve your issue.
1 turn you iPad off - press and hold the home and the sleep/ wake button until the slider comes up and then slide it so the iPad turns off. Then hit the wake button to turn it back on. Try to create your playlist....problem resolved?
2 do a hard reset - press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until the white apple logo appears on a black screen. Let up and allow the iPad to come back on to login screen. Usually takes a moment or two. Try your playlist again. Problem resolved?
3 restore your iPad from iTunes on your computer. This will do a fresh install of the OS onto your iPad. Transfer any purchases first to iTunes. You will have to reload your iPad during this restore process. Instructions below.

Smart Playlist Problems (Since Ver 5)
I have come across a problem, which I believe started when I installed Version 5.
I have many SMART playlists set up that are really for my iPod usage. They are set to pick certain tracks that have not been heard in xxx amount of days, and usually set to a certain number of songs, or a particular amount of time.
The ones I use most often:
SLEEP MUSIC - a playlist of random songs not played in the last 5 days limited to 90 minutes. I listen to this when I go to bed.
WORK MUSIC - a playlist of 100 random songs not played in the last 5 days. I play this through my inMotion dock at work.
Previously, all the smart playlists worked fine. When the songs were played, the playlist would update on the iPod and the next time I would enter that playlist on the iPod, the tracks would be different.
It still works this way as long as I don't connect my iPod to my PC and sync with iTunes. If I do, it always resets the iPod playlists to the songs that appear in the iTunes library. I rarely use these playlists on the PC, so they almost always stay the same.
It seems like in previous versions, iPod would update the iTunes library and the smart playlists would also be updated in iTunes, so that the iPod versions of the playlists would continue to be random. But now, if the playlist is different on the iPod, it will not transfer over to iTunes. Instead, the iTunes playlist is copied back over to my iPod, and I keep getting the same playlists over and over.
This is a major annoyance, as I usually sync my iPod every day since I am constantly updating my library.
I've also noticed that when I synch my iPod, it is copying over songs that are already there, and it always seems to be copying songs I recently played in the iTunes library.
I know that if the tag info is changed, or I add album art to a track, it will be copied over to the iPod again, but I am not making any changes to these tracks, just playing them in iTunes. I don't know if this is related to the smart playlist problem or not.
I thought about unchecking LIVE UPDATE on those playlists that cause a problem, but that doesn't work, as now I'd ALWAYS have the same playlist.
So, my next thought is to use the "Only update selected playlists" option in the preferences to exclude those playlists that have this problem. If I do this, will new music I add still be copied over to my iPod?
Has anyone else encountered these problems?
FYI - I have not updated to the latest iPod update because of smart playlist problems people were having. I have version 1.1 on my 60GB photo. Would updating perhaps fix this problem?
My bottom-line thought on this is that iTunes updates the iPod, but the iPod no longer updates the iTunes library as it previously did. My reasons for thinking this are 1) The playlist problems I am having as stated above, and 2) I notice when I change the ratings on the iPod, they are not changed in iTunes. I am going to do a test and change the rating on a track on the iPod, then I will synch my iPod to see if the track is updated in iTunes, or the file is copied back to the iPod with the old rating.Reagrding tracks being copied over again, I've seen another post in iPod Lounge where that person indicated the same thing. He stated that the play count was not being updated between the iPod and iTunes, but that the tracks were being copied over again. This sounds like a good explanation of this problem.
I have now noticed many of the tracks which I know I have played in the past show a "0" play count. Are the play counts kept in the iTunes library files (iTunes.xml and iTunes.itl)?
I always save the library files, so that when I reinstall iTunes I can just copy these 2 files back to their proper locations and I have my entire library intact - playlists and all. My music library is on a different drive.
Anyway, I KNOW I have played these tracks on the iPod, and yet they show unplayed on iTunes. This is probably another symptom of the re-copying tracks problem. -

In first place sorry my english, i'm from Portugal and recently bought an iPhone 6 in exchange my iPhone 5.
Actually i can't join any wifi network, the phone show "incorrect password" and i'm sure is the correct. In free wifi networks says "impossible to join".
I think it isn't router problem because i've can sucessfuly join my old iphone 5, my ipad air and other windows devices...
I've already reset network settings, reset device from factory... etc etc.... i don't have no ideas...
All devices have ios 8.1 but the problem in iphone 6 start with the update 8 --- 8.1
Anyone in this situation? New updates are close?

It isn’t possible to downgrade the device. Look for solutions which don’t involve doing so, or post the problem you’re having on these boards.

Creative MediaSource Playlist problems!!
(Creative MediaSource Playlist problems!!i Hello!? I am having a huge problem trying to add music to my playlist that I created using MediaSource (I have a 30GB Zen Vision M)
I'll create the playlist, but it is only saving the last track(s) I added to it.... for example:
I add "Human Touch", "Walk of Life" and "Sultans of Swing" at the same time
Those three songs show up on the playlist
Then I'll add "What's love got to do with it" by itself
Playlist now only contains "What's love got to do with it"
I should note that I recently had to perform a system recovery (since my computer crashed but I didn't lose any data). I have the latest firmware for my Zen Vision M and the latest version of the Creative Media Source Version 3.30.35)? Any questions please ask!
Thanks!, I would suggest using the Zen Media Explorer for your device to make & edit playlists. It is on the install disc. MediaSource is not that good. Of all the Creative software the Zen Media Explorer for each player is one I do use often for this reason.

Nah... there simply is not iOS 6 Wi-Fi problem with the 4S. I have not experienced any issues and neither has anyone else I know with iPhones.
User's like yourself really should drop the attitude and try some basic troubleshooting.

Try rebooting your ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
Go to settings/itunes and app stores, tap on apple id and sign out. Reboot the ipad and the sign back in the same way. -

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

PLAYLIST PROBLEM: I did a playlist and after synchonising with my ipod, the order of the songs changed both in itunes and in the ipod. In itunes the order came alphabetically and in ipod randomly. I wanted that playlistto be played in the order I made it for a party.
Now I don't know what to do.

I am having problems with the voice control system and my video ipod (5th gen) in a new Ford Focus Coupè-Convertible which also has Bluetooth phone conectivity ( works great with my iPhone 3G) as well as USB & Voice Control
This is all done through a Sony audio unit (model Sony 6CD DAB) which has a Six disc CD changer built in, as well as the usual FM & AM Radio bands as well as DAB Radio.
My problem relates to the voice control of my ipod and playlists.
Now some commands work just great For example if I say the following sequence ( which the unit repeats back to me at each stage) it works great:
"External Device"
"iPod"
"Play"
All works well as it starts playing whatever playlist the iPod was in prior to connection to the unit, or if no playlist had been selected it just plays the whole contents of the iPod. - It also works fine with the commands "Shuffle" or "Repeat".
But according to the user manual I am supposed to be able to play or select a specific playlist by voice command using the following syntax as quoted from the manual:
'...create playlists named with the structure "Ford<*>" where <*> is a number 1-10. For example "Ford7" without any spaces between "Ford" and the number.
So I made several playlist called
Ford1
Ford2
Ford3
and so on up to Ford10.
Now according to the voice commands list I should say the following phrases which like before, are repeated back to me by the system:
"External Device"
"iPod"
"Playlist"
Then the unit responds with
"Playlist Number Please"
Then according to the manual I should say the following:
But when I say either
'Ford1'
Or
'1'
Or any right up to 'Ford10' / '10'
It responds bystating that playlist number (X) not available.
I have also tried with the quotation marks ("") around the name eg "Ford1", but that has not worked either.
So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and knew a solution, or could tell me where I am going wrong.
Although my car is a UK model, I believe that this voice control system is available with Sony units in American cars as well.
Hope you can help as this is driving me nuts!

I updated my iPad2 to iOS 6 I face a problem to retrieve my books in the iBooks and the videos as well . All the other apps are fine with full data. I am sure I did back up to my friend's mac book pro .The books appear for a second in the iBook then disappear? Thanks
They gave me a brand new phone and I logged into all of my iCloud stuff, etc...
When I try to go onto the Internet it will say its loading, loading, loading, then give up. Pandora has given up after one song. All other apps that need to connect to Internet or networks load and load and then give up. I will double tap the one button and close out all the apps and it may work for a second but no more. Then I will turn the phone off and the same thing happens.
I have run out of ideas.
