IOS 4.2 bug!! CANNOT REMOVE APPLICATIONS!!

Hello,
I just updated my Iphone4 to iOS 4.2 and I just found out that i can't remove apps. Normally, I can click on the app and hold it until it jiggles then I can click on the 'x' icon on each app to remove. On iOS 4.2 on my Iphone 4, the icons are put in edit mode (they jiggle) but there is absolutely no 'x' icon!
Anyone else seen this?? or Am I the first one??

I can't believe no one figured this out yet.
It is simply because with ios 4.2 there is a new restriction for deleting apps. I ran into the same problem and after reading this post and finding no solution I remembered that I had manually turned off the "delete Apps" restriction.
So go into 'Settings'/ 'General'/ 'Restrictions'/ Enter your passcode if set/ and set 'Deleting Apps' to ON. \
Voila. The X's will be there when the apps wiggle.
It's a great little feature when you let your 4 year old play with your phone.

Cannot remove Aperture synced Photos on iOS 8

Hey,
I had roughly 26k Aperture images synced to my iPhone 5 when I upgraded to iOS 8. Since the upgrade, all of my Events have been placed into a random order (which is extremely frustrating), the Photos app has become unusably slow and I cannot 'remove' the synced photos via iTunes anymore.
Even though I have unticked the Aperture sync option in iTunes, the photos simply won't delete from the iPhone. It looks like I might have to wipe my phone clean and start again.
On top of that, all of the Photos seem to have been merged with my Camera Roll pictures and iCloud backup attempts to backup all 26k images.
Anyone else having similar issues with iOS 8 and synced Aperture/iPhoto libraries?

Although I have not synced either Aperture or iPhoto images to my phone through iTunes, maybe there is a parallel with syncing images through iTunes from a folder. In that situation, I understand that you actually have to sync an empty folder to the phone if you want to remove the previously synced photos. Might it be similar with Aperture/iPhoto?

Before you panic, try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Hi i clicked on the games app on the Z10 and it forced me to grant it permission to share on bbm. I dont want it showing up on my bbm. However the option on settings and permissions is greyed out and set to on. How can this be- must be a bug? also you cannot delete the app..... so lookks like im stuck with the problem? any help please..............
ps have tried these options
1. Delete the app by pressing and holding the icon and click on delete.
2. Best way to get rid of the app is go into my world and uninstall the app.
3. Can change the application permissions under settings, Security and Privacy, Application Permissions.

Next is the app linkedin succesfully deleted it but now cannot remove it of the hub list it still remains there even if i turn it to off in the hub settings? also all app ppermissions are set to off.

Arsen, I don't think you understand that in the Z10 these 3 delete options are not available for the Games App. And in the application permissions it is greyed out and you CAN'T change it. None of the sliders, whether grey or not, are moveable. they are permanently stuck on the "ON" position.

1) Undeploy your project using SDM [RemoteGUI], or else ask your basis person to remove that particular project's .EAR file.
2) If you have a clustered server ,follow this sequence
a) Stop the Clustered Server
b) Stop the Local Server
c) Start the Local Server
d) Start the Clustered Server
3) Try to deploy your application once again

Cannot run application HRSystem due to error deploying to DefaultServer.

I am new to java and jdeveloper. I am tring my hands on the tutorial on HRSystem. Below is the error message recieved while deploying the application. Dont know what to do please help.

Try removing this directory: /home/oracle/.jdeveloper/system11.1.1.0.31.52.05/ and restarting JDeveloper.

Just for the record - my thinking is that there was an application deployed on the integrated server that was miss configured.
Instead of removing the whole system directory - you could just remove the defaultServer subdirectory there.
But even better would have been the option to remove the specific offending application see here:

Error message: cannot remove older versions of apple software update

I recently got a 30 gb ipod, and i cant install itunes 7. I originally tried installing it at first, and it said cannot remove older applications of Apple Software Update. So i installed itunes 4 to put music on my ipod. Then i tried again to install itunes 7 and i keep getting the same error message. Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone give me some suggestions please?

I would first try and remove both iTunes and Quicktime prior to doing the install of iTunes. The following link will show you how to remove both programs. Make sure you do Step 16 as it is usually Quicktime that causes problems with the upgrade.

When installing itunes 10.7 my computer gets all the way to verifying install and then removing applications and stops. I get a message that says "unable to complete - there is a file missing. I tunes has not be completed. See your package dealer

Add or remove applications from Startup in LION

We just did a migration from Tiger to Lion for our primary Mac user and now, on her new machine running Lion, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Entourage launch every time she starts up her PC. Microsoft Excel was not even in her Startup on her old system.
I followed the instructions provided in this link: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#appstartup for adding and removing applications from a user's Startup in Lion. For this user, there are no Microsoft 2008 applications listed. She is the only user on the computer - there is a guest account that is shown but cannot be accessed or modified from the Users and Groups folder in System Preferences.
So, my question is: Is there another way to see what would be the equivalent of the "Startup" folder in Windows on an iMac running Lion? Or am I missing something? How did Excel get into Startup? How do I get it out?

As it turned out, I noticed that when you shut down or restart the computer, a question box comes up asking "Are you sure you want to restart/shutdown your computer now?" There is a check box next to the option "Reopen windows when logging back in", which is checked by default. I discovered that if you uncheck that box just one time, it will not attempt to open any applications that were open during any previous shutdown. It appears to sort of 'wipe the slate clean'. That is how I got it to stop launching Microsoft 2008 applications on every startup even when they were not in the user's Login Items. And they were not set for Open At Login.
This one led me a merry chase! Thanks to all who responded.

IOS 5.1 Bug Found!

Just updated to ios 5.1 on an iPhone 3GS and found a bug, when removing apps from folders, the second to the last app removed will crash the springboard, and respring... why!? im not sure why but is it comon for iphones to respring? even when they are not jailbroken? ive done a clean restore from ios 5.0.1 to ios 5.1 there should be nothing there to cause a springboard restart.. right? or is this a way of the iphone protecting itself? (like safe mode for example) but thats not fair for me, what of i was in the middle of a serious situation and my iPhone crashes into a respring? im trying to record a number, or a note, or even make a phone call, will i have an issue with resprings all the time or is this a once in a lifetime thing? im actually concerned. tho absolutlly thankfull for the battery fix, it has proved its self worthy. please let me know what you think, will apple release a fix for the crash?

Cannot install applications because the certificate for .... is not valid

Hello,
We have an in house enterprise app that can no longer update. We have taken the steps outlined here. These steps include installing a SSL certificate on the server from a trusted CA (GeoTrust) that shows as valid in Safari on OSX. Also the http to https redirect has been setup and verified in Safari and FireFox. Addtionally, the plist file's XML has been manually updated to point HTTPS. New installs work on iOS 7.1 without an issue.
However, the program has automatic updates that fail with the message "Cannot install applications because the certificate for .... is not valid".
The update process works like this:
A Plist file exists on the server that contains the version number of the build on the server. The app will download the file and parse it into a NSDictionary then the verison into an NSString. If the version doesn't match the current version then the user is prompted to install updates.
When the user says yes to the prompt a UIApplication is sent the Open URL message with a hard coded download URL that looks like this:
imts-services//?action=download-manifest&url=http://www.example.com/app/Release.plist
On iOS 7.1 the user will receive the message "Cannot install applications because the certificate for example is not valid". This error occurs even thought the certificate is valid. It almost looks like the URL isn't respecing the redirect from the server.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a work around for it? Or do I have to redeploy the app (with an HTTPS in the hard coded URL)?

Downloaded an app on my iphone and cannot remove.

and i cannot remove it.
when the iphone is is connected to itunes, the app "go2snowshoe" does not appear so there is nothing for me to uncheck or delete and i cannot seem to remove it from my phone.

not sure if that solution stopped with the iphone 5 hardware or the ios 6.
the current way to delete an app is through itunes and again, as i indicated above, this particular app does not appear in itunes so i am unable to delete/uncheck it.
