I install latest update from my ipad 2, after the upgrade tablet running slowly. Probably the system requirements too high for my device. I think that users with older models should be able to install IOS 6.x.x on their devices or consider buying devices from other manufacturers ...
People are dissatisfied with the new update a lot, including some of my friends and acquaintances. Is it reasonable to wait until Apple implements the possibility to return to Ios Ios 6 to 7? And how soon it can be done?
Sorry for my english, i am from Russia.

I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones!

  • When I get ios 6 will my current ios (ios 5) be taken off the device

I would like to know that when a new iOS is put
On to a device that the old one is removed and
The new one takes it's spot ?

Myself, and others. As a developer, I have kept notes on specific updates for certain devices we use for internal purposes. Historically, major iOS updates have occured after 10am on the date of release. Now, that doesn't mean every iPhone will see the update at 10am. It still has to propogate through all the servers. Some may see it later, but some may see it right away.
Of course, if Apple wants to release it at 4pm, they can. They never gave a specific time for the actual release.

  • Even though iOS cannot restore backups of newer devices, can it restore data from an older device using 7.1.2 to a newer device using iOS8

    Hi ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you cannot use your Wi-Fi after the latest update to your iPhone 4s. I know you have already done some great troubleshooting by restoring with iTunes but the Wi-Fi becomes unavailable very quickly after you set it up. Go ahead and set up the iPhone so you can get into the Setting and then follow the steps provided in the attached article.
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
         Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you complete all of these steps and still are not able to access the Wi-Fi, it may be necessary to follow the link at the bottom of the page and contact Apple Support.
    Have a great day,
    -Joe

  • IOS 5.1 update bricked my wife's iPhone 4S.  Updated my iPhone 4 first without incident, but when I went to update her phone, the update wiped her phone clean and is stuck in the restore/update mode. Her phone is now useless.  Updated to latest itunes.

iOS 5.1 also bricked her iPod Touch, despite my having no problem updating mine.

I thought that I had bricked my phone as well when I upgraded my iPhone 4s to iOS 5.1 but I just fixed it last night after 3 hours of trying everything. My phone was stuck in recovery mode and had the icon telling me to plug it into iTunes, but iTunes didn't recognize my phone at all. I tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but still nothing worked. I tried changing the USB port that I plugged my iPhone into and THAT is what worked. I have no idea why, but my computer finally recognized my phone, but had to be restored. Luckily I had a very recent backup so restoring it wasn't so painful.
Try changing the USB port where you plug in your phone on your computer; hopefully that works for you!

As of today, iOS 7 is available for Apple devices. I went to settings, then to general, and to software updates, but it says at iOS 6.1.3 my iPad 2 is up to date. How can I download https iOS  7?

Well, now is probably not a good time to try it. The servers are overloaded, and if you look at most of the posts on this site right now, people are getting hung up at various points of their download and activation.
You need to hook your device up to the computer you sync with and download it via iTunes, or keep checking your device until you see IOS 7 is available.
But my advice would be to wait - otherwise you are just going to be frustrated, and unable to use your device....
    Cheers,

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.

The article from which you came provides suggestions. Have you tried all of those, including attempting restore from another computer?

Is the message I received when I tried to synch my Ipad2 with the MacBook Air. The message also said that both devices are current. So ????? IPad is frozen showing the iTune icon with the charge cable.

I tried everything wrote on apple support uninstall security softwares, chage USB port etc. Then I Tried to restore to iOS 5 but then it showed The device is't eligible for the requested build .Then again I tried to RESTORE to iOS 6 it showed error 26 but when I looked at my device it was at the iOS 6 startup it shows "Update Completed The iphone was updated successfully. There are just few more steps to follow. Then you've finished!.     Then I pressed continue & it shows the same picture as in recovery mode "Connect to itunes". When I connect it to itunes it shows " iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone “RS BUTTAR”. • IOS 5.1 update bricked my iPhone

I have a 3GS that I tried to update to iOS 5.1 and like the thread title says, it completely bricked the phone.  I left it to update and came back an hour later and it said it had failed to restore.  Now it's stuck at the infamous USB cable -> iTunes screen.  The phone won't connect to iTunes at all.  You can hear windows recognize a new USB device, but iTunes never does.  I've tried all the solutions I've found on the net so far for entering/exiting recovery mode with no success(holding down the home button and connecting to itunes, holding power and home for 20 seconds then releasing the power button and bolding home for another 5 seconds, etc).  I can't even power down the phone.  If you hold the power button, it never even brings up the power down slider, so it makes it hard to even test the solutions I've found.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I took it to cell phone repair shop and they were able to fix it by re-flashing the firmware. I lost everything on the phone,
Along with the warranty.  "Flashing" the firmware - i.e. hacking it - other than by standard restore methods usually results in an iOS - modem baseband version mismatch.

  • I noticed that Find My iPhone on iCloud hasn't worked since iOS 8 came out. My device uses iOS 7. My question is: do I need to upgrade my device? If not, what should I do? I do not wish to upgrade my device.

I noticed that Find My iPhone on iCloud hasn't worked since iOS 8 came out. Whenever I try to use it, it always says "All Devices Offline." This is regardless of whether I am in a good Wi-Fi zone or not.  I like to use Find My iPhone to remotely track my battery charging status whenever my phone is charging in a different room. That's been really handy, which is why I really need to get this fixed. No matter what computer I use, the problem is always the same.
My device uses iOS 7. My question is: do I need to upgrade my device? If not, what should I do? I do not wish to upgrade my device, especially considering the bad things I've heard about iOS 8.
    Feedback would be welcome ASAP.

You don't need to update to iOS 8 to use Find My iPhone.  If you haven't already tried, go to Settings>iCloud>Find My iPhone and turn it off, then reset your phone (hold the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release).  After it restarts, turn Find My iPhone back on and see if it works properly now.
