IOS 4.3.3 killed my car audio integration kit

Anyone else have this problem?  After updating my iPhone4 to 4.3.3, my long-lasting, always trouble-free DICE Silverline iPhone integration kit on my BMW stopped working.  It tries to connect, then disconnects.  After a minute, the iPhone will display a message "iPhone does not recognize this accessory."  Whereas, it always had before!  I know it's not the DICE kit, because my wife's iPhone4 still works great because she did not do the iOS update and remains at iOS 4.3.1
Call me paranoid, but it sounds like Apple decided to turn off some compatibility.  Any advice?  How do I UNDO an iOS update?
Thanks,
Tom

Great idea.  I followed BSW's instructions for depowering the DICE box, and did it twice, but could NOT force the unit into a "reboot/reprogram" mode.  Since my wife's phone still pairs normally, it makes me think it's not a pairing issue.  Repowering the device returns the system to status quo:
My wife's iOS 4.3.1 phone "attaches" and plays music.
My iOS 4.3.3 phone never attaches, just displays "detached" in the RDS text on the radio.  The iPhone beeps upon connection, so it is recognizing a connection, but refuses to "talk" to the DICE box.  The iPhone will play songs, but no music will come through the car audio.
Any idea how to return my phone to iOS 4.3.1???
Thanks,
Tom

I'll try to keep this simple, just in case its been answered before.
I have a Pioneer stereo in my car, and don't want to use the "official" Pioneer iPod adapter because I will have no display on my iPod screen(laugh if you will..thats a key for me), even though it utilizes the dock connection.
Is there really THAT much audio difference if I use the headphone jack into the AUX input in the back of my stereo?
And if so, will a dock adapter into a 3.5mm plug solve that? One like in this link...
    https://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-usb.html
    Many thanks for any help.
BTW I will be using the 80G Video iPod.
    Dell 2400   Windows XP Pro

I have a 30GB Video iPod and a Pioneer car deck. Most aftermarket head units that have an Auxilury output allow you to purchase a cable which will both power and play music though your car speakers. These cables usually cost about $30 and can be installed in minutes. Most recent car stereos that cost around $130 and up have these types of interfaces and even allow you to control the iPod thought he head unit in your car. I would recommend running this cable into your glove box so that you don't need to cradle the iPod since the song information will usually be displayed on the radio.
You can research car stereos and iPod integration on Crutchfield's website.
Here's a iPod Car Stereo Installation Guide: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/car/ipod/ipod_installation.html

  • Did iOS 4.3.2 kill support for the camera kit?

Does anyone have any problems importing photos into iPad 2 iOS 4.3.2?
I had no problems importing photos and videos while I was on iOS 4.3.1. But ever since I've updated my device to iOS 4.3.2, every time I tried to import something, Photos will just crash back out to the home screen.
    Really really frustrating!

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo.

  • Iphone 6 iOS 8.1 no longer playing properly with car audio system

    Hi there,
I have an iphone 6 running ios 8.1 and it is no longer allowing me to play/pause songs through the car's audio system. I have a USB port in the car that allows me to plug my iphone in and control the Music through the car audio system.
    I have a 2011 Holden Cruze.
Prior to the iOS upgrade, the function worked fine.
Bluetooth connectivity is still OK and if I control the music via the iPhone it will play.
Is anyone else having this issue and are apple aware of it?
    Thanks.

    Hi Darren,
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my Volkswagen Golf 2015. Since the update I'm unable to use the play/pause button. When I press the button while my phone is connected through the MDI cable it does nothing. But if I use Bluetooth I can control it without issue. That said, in my car I don't want to use Bluetooth while I'm playing music because I want to charge my iPhone at the same time so I need to use the cable. I think this is a really issue and Apple should advise.
    Update:
I did a full restore without using a backup of my old phone. Oh surprise... It seems to work now. But the worst now, is that I have this album of U2 showing in my playlist. I don't know if it's related, but that album was not showing when I used my back-up the first time. Seriously, I think Apple succeed at messing up enough with iOS 8.1 and this U2 album to break the playlist and the playback functionality with cars and radios.
To resolve the issue I tried:
Restore to iOS 8.1 with back-up - FAILED
Restore to iOS 8.1 without using any back-up - SUCCEED but fail at the same time because I need to re-setup my iPhone manually and try to get rid of this U2 album.

  • IOS 4.2 Still NO Fix for USB Car Audio (AVN726E)

With the Release of iOS 4.2.1; I rushed to update hoping that it would fix my USB to Car Audio, but it doesnt, what exactly is Apple trying to accomplish by removing functionality..
I own an Eclipse AVN726E which I've come to learn is also the system that Toyota/Lexus uses in some of their vehicles..
Granted I can play audio through the Bluetooth Audio selection but then the devices doesnt charge..
I plug in my iPhone 4 and it just hangs on "Reading..."
Does anyone have any ideas or anything that I can try to make this work..
Or is this all in the hands of Apple..

I've got a Kenwood KDC-MP345U and had the "Reading" hang problem after doing the 4.2.1 update. This worked for me...
I simply did a full restore using the Restore button in iTunes. It will ask you if you want to back up your phone first -- cancel out and do it! Then hit the Restore button again. This will restore the iPhone to factory settings. The phone then will update itself to the latest operating system (4.2.1). Finally, restore your own settings from your last backup. When I plugged in the phone into the MP3U, I got the "Reading" message for about 2 seconds and then everything went back to normal. Also, all my settings on the phone are exactly as before -- don't skip the backup immediately before the Restore.
    Hope this helps someone else...

  • IPhone 4S with iOS 5.0.1 started to breaking up via bluetooth airplay to car audio clarion cx609e

With new iPhone 4S and iOS 5.0.1 my car audio clarion cx609e started to breaking up airplay streaming? Streaming will continue but with in music there is a little cut-offs. This happens with Spotify app, not tested with iPhone´s own iPod app... With old iOS 4.x there were no problems at all?!?!

My son has a similar problem since updating to the latest software on his iphone 4. He can make calls but the other person can't hear him. Facetime and Skype work fine - so it must be the lower microphone that is the problem. He's had it checked at the Apple store in Chiang Mai but they won't fix it - he has to get it back to the UK for service. It's 2 months over the warranty period but having checked around it seems this problem is widespread and Apple need to sort it fast!
I've updated mine and it's fine - but I'm gonna take out applecare before the warranty runs out as I'm not risking having a £495 phone that I can't use as a phone.
I was thinking of buying one for my wife this Xmas but no way whilst they are having so many problems.
COME ON APPLE - GET THIS FIXED WITH A NEW RELEASE ASAP!

  • IOS 4.1 & Alpine Car Audio

Hello, I have an Alpine CDE-113BT and yesterday I upgraded the iPhone to the 4.1, since I done it the car-audio doesn't recognize the iPhone and shows me this message 'Error 01'. Alpine refered to Apple to solve this issue.
    Thanks You

It's not just Apline car stereos, the 4.1 update affects others makes and models as well. I think one of the security fixes broke the compatibility. My ida-x305 won't charge or play music any more. I called apple and the rep said to buy a new car stereo.

  • IPhone 5S with ios8 fail to connect my Bluetooth car audio system

    Dear apple users and developers,
I have read many threads about this issue mostly for iPhone 5 (ok i have the 5S) perhaps this makes a difference. With the ios7 i had no issue and always connected to my MHV-8300BT Pioneer device in my car. After update, when i get connected, i says "Calling My number" and when i push the button on my device to answer it drops the line, it keeps the connection but i do not hear, speak. Then i have to change the source voice system and i set the speaker or the iPhone.
On my fathers Bluetooth, a Motorola, it works, at the beginning i made a reset only for the Network settings,
Do not know what else to do
    Thanks for reading my post

  • Warning! Update to ipod Touch Software affects use in car audio

When you install the latest update to the ipod Touch (which you have to pay for) it has a massive impact upon its ability to work with your car audio system. I have an ipod connector in my 2 year old BMW that was brillant as it gave me all the play lists, albums, etc. It still does this but you have to wait up to 15 minutes for it to scan the library and display the tunes. It also no longer starts where it stopped within a file which is a real pain as I listen to audio files that can be up to 2 hours long! Getting back to where you left off is a real pain. Now have to reinstall original software and wave goodbye to the money I paid to upgrade.

Gnome.....I've seen this forum/hospital analogy several times now, and it just doesn't hold water. First of all, in a hospital there are professional medical personnel to help you. The patients don't take care of other patients. Secondly, if I want to find out whether my ailment is really something of concern, common, or how to deal with it, I'd go to a hospital, maybe even investigate medical records. I wouldn't go to where all the happy healthy people are. Finally (and fortunately), most people don't experience any number of diseases or birth defects I could mention. That doesn't mean that millions do suffer from such problems. We shouldn't use supposed rarity as an excuse to cut research spending or attention to such very real issues (again, mostly not "self-inflicted"). I'm very happy you have had a good experience with Apple, but there are a large number of folks who have not and are both angry and disappointed with Apple's lack of meaningful and public response to a multitude of iOS 4.x problems. Please give the hospital comment a rest and try to be less condescending to your poor sick brothers and sisters who cannot afford to buy every newly released Apple device.

  • Iphone5 car audio problems

Hi - hoping someone here can help.
    I have an iphone5 running iOS 6.1.4 and a 2013 BMW 3-series. I
can get both to pair/connect via Bluetooth, can pull-up my Contacts list from my phone on the BMW iDrive screen, and can even initiate a call. But what I can't appear to do is get the audio to jump from the phone to the car - even though the symbol on my iphone is showing the 'speaker' against the car.
When I try to make an outbound call from the car, there is no dial-tone or ring-tone. The only difference when I receive an incoming call, is that I hear it ringing, but there is no audio when I pick-up....and the caller cannot hear me speak either.
I have tried the exact same procedure with my iphone4 in the same care, and it works perfectly over the car audio/speaker - both for inbound and outbound calls.
If anyone has any clue as to what might br wrong, and how this can be fixed, I'd very-much appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Nick

  • IOS4 does not recognize in car audio systems...awesome!

So a major glitch with the iOS4 release for iPhone turns out to be the complete inability to interact with hard wired connections to in-car audio systems. As a result, those of us who relied on our iphone music libraries to provide our driving entertainment prior to this latest update, are now completely out of luck. Unless, of course, you count the incessantly flashing warning that "your iphone does not support this accessory" entertaining as opposed to infuriating. This strobe effect has the added bonus of rendering your touch screen completely useless. Good luck if your hard connection provides charging capabilities as well.
Between the ungodly amount of money spent on iTunes music and my car audio system over the last couple of years, I’m just tickled to death about this world wide technological turn of events. Good job Apple, you really dumped in the bed on this one.

I see the same problem when plugging my iPod with iOS 4 into my clock radio iPod dock. If i remove it and plug it back in it generally works fine. But it is a bit of a nuisance.

  • Can not unmute iPhone 6 after connection to car audio

I have a strange issue with iPhone 6, IOS 8.02. After the phone is disconnected from car audio it goes into mute by itself and I can not unmute it. The silent switch has no affect. The volume up button will unmute the phone but only while I am holding the button. The instance I let the volume up button go, the phone mutes itself again. The only way to get out of this is to power down and back up again.
Did anyone see anything like that and have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi borisser,
If you are having issues with unmuting your iPhone after having connected it to your car stereo, and have already tried restarting it with no resolution, I would suggest that you back up and restore the iPhone as a new device. See this article -

  • IPhone 6 Bluetooth: Not auto-pairing with car audio

I recently upgraded from iPhone 5 to a 6 with iOS 8.0.2. Typically, once I paired my phone w/ the car, it would auto-pair when in range when the car is on. When I upgraded, I had to delete the memory and re-pair my iPhone 6. It worked great. however, whenever I turn the car on, it says there's no device, my iPhone can see the Car_M_Media, I force a connection and it says unsuccessful. I find myself in a cycle of re-deleting the phone in the Subaru Legacy 2013 stock receiver if I want to make a connection.
Has anyone else had bluetooth issues with their car audio / hands free?

    Hello there, Dominic.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting the issue with bluetooth pairing to your car:
If you can’t use a Bluetooth accessory or car kit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6473
To resolve the issue, you'll need to first sign in to iCloud and review your devices:
Sign in to iCloud on your iOS devices.
On one of your devices, tap Settings > Bluetooth and look under My Devices. You'll see all devices that are connected to Bluetooth, but make sure that you see your Apple devices that are signed in to iCloud and are using iOS 8.
Sign out of your iCloud account from any devices that you don't want to use. To sign out of iCloud on an iOS device, tap Settings > iCloud > Sign Out.
Then, remove any inactive devices from iCloud:
    Sign in to iCloud.com.
    Select Find My iPhone.
Select any devices that aren't active anymore.
Wait for Find My iPhone to stop trying to find the inactive device.
You should see the option to remove this device from your account. Select it to remove the device.
After following the steps above, restart the device with the issue. Then try to use it with your Bluetooth accessory.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • IPhone no longer works with car audio

I'm running a 16 GB 3G-S and it worked wonderfully for my internet music such as Pandora or listening to iHeart radio.
The unit would sync up easily to both my new car audio systems and everything detected and played beautifully! However, once I upgraded to 4.2.1 the iPhone is no longer detected in "iPod Mode" or either receiver. I either get error codes from the receiver or errors from the iPhone that this is not supported (when it was in 4.1).
I really loved those features for my frequent long drives. I really hope there is a fix for this problem. I did check with both receiver manufacturers and they maintain their units should work.
Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated!

That is wild! My receiver had problems under 4.1, and I upgraded to 4.2 last night hoping to rectify things. It worked for me, flies through the menus and plays back beautifully again.
I have a 3GS and a Pioneer deck in the truck.
