IOS 4.3 not available

The iOS 4.3 Software Update page says “Updating is easy. Just connect your device to your Mac or PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes.” When I do this, on 10.6.6 running iTunes 10.2.1 (installed and reïnstalled multiple times), I am told when I connect my fourth generation iPod Touch that “This version of the iPod software (4.2.1) is the current version.” There is no option to update to iOS 4.3. I have tried to download the .ipsw file directly (iPod4,14.3_8F190Restore.ipsw) and option-clicked on the “Check for updates button”, but when I do, I am told that “The iPod ‘Victor Maurice Faubert’s iPod’ could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible.” How do I proceed so that I can get iOS 4.3 installed on the device? The iPod runs fine under 4.2.1, but I would like to upgrade to 4.3 to take advantage of its new features. Thank you.

Are you sure you which generation this is?
If you have an 8GB model then it could be an older 2nd generation model and you cannot upgrade to 4.3....
Did you buy it new or used?
If you bought it new and it is the 4th generation, then it sounds like something is wrong with it and you need to return it.
Look on the back of your iPod Touch for one of these numbers.
These come directly from Apple.
iPod Touch 1st generation - A1213
iPod Touch 2nd generation - A1288
iPod Touch 3rd generation - A1318
iPod Touch 4th generation - A1367
I am guessing that the number on the back of your iPod Touch is A1288 which would be a 2nd generation model and that is why it is telling you that you have the current 4.2.1 iOS version.

Well of course they would, but that's not why iPhone 4 can't have iOS8. It is simply the fact iPhone 4 can't support the features of iOS8. Le'ts be realistic in recognizing iPhone 4 is now over 4 years old. In cell phone land, that is ancient........

IOS 7 "update not available"

So I have been trying to update my iPad 2 since 1pm. I was having troubles at first trying to download it. I finally got it downloaded and not when I push "install now" it keeps saying "Software update is not available at this time. try again later." Every time. This is extremely frustrating. I have pretty fast Internet so, I don't think that is the problem. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Alec

Endless countless millions of people are trying to authenticate AFTER downloading the new IOS.

I am trying to update my iphone 3GS to the iOS 7.0. It currently is on the iOS 6.1.6. It keeps saying my software is up-to-date and that no updates are available. I tried to do this via iTunes and wirelessle. Is the phone too old to support the iOS 7.0?

iPhone 3gs does not support iOS 7. The latest iOS you can upgrade to on your iphone 3gs is 6.1.6 . Apple will not release the ios7 for the iphone 3gs. Sorry

IOS 7 is not available to me

Hey over here in the Stone Age, I use my daughters old skool iPod touch from you know generation3 or 4. It won't allow for an update past iOS 6.1 or something close. Am I out of luck and if so, who will be reimbursing is? Also not receiving and have not for months our student discount. Lastly the only reason I tried to uninstall was because half way through each song on a playlist it would just stop. Now the app is deleted and I cannot reinstall. Where is my cane?

Spotify currently only supports iOS 7 and up.

When I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 7 I didn't get the free pages, numbers, iMovie etc apps, any ideas on retrieving them?

That is for new purchases of iPhones or iPads only.

HT201210 My download for iOS 7 was interrupted, it has downloaded but not installed. it goes through routine Terms & Agreements and everything, but when i try to update it tries to verify the update then says that the update is not available.

I dont understand, when i try to update it will go through routine apple stuff, then it it will say " Software Update Unavailable (under) Software Update is not available at this time. Try again later." I imagine a ton of people are attempting to download it right now. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

Are you sending these imessage while on wifi or cellular data? Also your husband would need to be in a good coverage area.
Usually when imessage is unavailable it will send it as a text. Does your husband receive your imessage as a text?

If this doesn't resolve it you most likely have a hardware failure. Fortunately, your phone is in warranty, so if you take it to an Apple store they will replace it.

You should try again later, the servers are getting slammed. Bunch of people trying to download at the same time.
Give it time, keep trying, should eventually work.
