IOS 4.3 sound issue

Today I had a strange problem with my iPad, took me a while to figure out. Sound from the internal speaker worked fine in the iPod App, and my Audible.com iPhone app, however any other 3rd party app was silent. The volume adjust switches on the side did nothing while in the apps.
After futzing with settings for 1/2 hr or so I found the "issue" looks like a iOS bug with the new setting for the rotate Lock/mute swtich. I had it set to lock rotation. When I changed it back to being a mute switch, the sound began to function in my games other apps. (after I tried a full power down/reboot and a hard reset to no avail.)
Funny thing, I've had the setting this way since I upgraded to 4.3 the day it came out and the problem did not manifest itself until today.
Where do we report bugs to Apple at?

I've had the same problem that started with the release and was an issue on the iPad1. No consistent solution here. And yeah the new release is very buggy, this is just one of a list of many things that needs to be resolved. The really strange thing is that the volume rocker doesn't even seem to affect the level of sound coming from the speaker now. It seems to be a consistent sound level and not something that can be changed.
Might need to do a restore to resolve this and that's NEVER a fun thing to do...

  • AIR 3 ios sound issues

    hey all
i am using the AIR 3 sdk overlayed Flash Pro 5.5 and i am having 2 sound issues:
first of all, my iPhone 3g's physical mute/silent button does not affect my app, and it should
secondly, the app records sound from the microphone when the user presses a button,
but on playback (with another button) you can hear that the sound is missing half a second or so from the beginning
this does not happen when testing on the desktop
    any ideas?
    thanx, Saar

AIR-3 have disabled it. Now you have to use a Native Extension to see if mute or not, and thus able to control it sounds like they sound and what not. I am using a Native Extension own and works perfectly.

  • Strange sound issue on iPad2

my mom is having odd sound issues on her iPad 2 that i was able to somewhat fix. and it goes from fixed back to broken o.O
i thought it was interesting and worth mentioning, in case this happens to anyone else.
her iPad 2 is up to date on the latest iOS (5.0.1) and the issue occured while she was watching a video in YouTube. sound is totally off in all apps. in Settings>General under 'use side switch to' it is set to 'mute'. when going to Settings>General>Sounds the volume control for ringers will work and cause the ringtone to play, so it seems the speaker itself is fine. however it will only work there and for that short time. afterward sound will continue to remain off. the volume control on the side of the unit will bring up the on screen speaker icon, except it doesnt show the bar that usually goes up and down with the volume. and sometimes at the top of the grey box it will say 'sound effects'. ive also tried switching the mute on and off which changes nothing.
the one thing ive found that changes anything is the multi tasking bar volume control (double clicking the home button and then sliding all the way to the left, where it shows a screen orientation lock, brightness slider and a volume control bar). now the volume control bar is unfilled and doesnt show the dot that you can slide up and down to change the volume. however when i plug the iPad 2 into a computer (any computer seems to cause this) the volume control bar will suddenly fill and the dot will appear. now suddenly sound works in all apps and will change with the side control again as normal.
now heres where it gets even weirder!!!
sometimes when unplugging the iPad 2, after a short while volume will slowly fade out and be unresponsive again. the side buttons stop working and the volume control in the multi tasking bar will be unfilled and unresponsive. repeatedly plugging it in, going back to the multi tasking bar volume control and unplugging will eventually bring volume back. a couple times ive gotten volume to stay on and the volume bar to stay responsive by unplugging it while im in the multi tasking bar. but sometimes this is not the case.
for the record, ive tried 'turning it off and on again' and resetting all settings and erasing all content and settings (both with starting up from a back up on iCloud and PC, and starting up as a new iPad). ive used two different laptops, one with Windows Vista and one with Windows 7. the iPad is synced with one laptop but aside from using iTunes to back it up and for charging, ive not made any changes to the iPad using these devices. during the entire duration of my attempts to fix it, the iPad has been on no lower than 80% power. ive also called Apple and discussed this with an Apple Care representative. who suggested all the same things id already done, and walked me through all the fixes to make sure i didnt skip anything.
hopefully and most probable is that its just an issue with iOS 5.0.1. i also have an iPad 2 thats up to date with 5.0.1 and ive not had this issue, YET.
i just thought it would be beneficial to the community to share this issue and get word out that this is happening. i would like to hear everyones thoughts on this issue and if this has happened to anyone else. the Apple Representative that i spoke to had not heard of or had to deal with this issue so it sounds like its rather new or rare. though she did mention that this is not normal behavior for the device and might be a software issue.
id like to conclude with my love for Apple, and how user friendly iDevices are in general. ive had iPods from the very first generation and all of them still work (though the older ones cant be updated past a certain iOS). the few issues ive ever had were easily fixed with a visit to the Apple Store or searching on the Apple Support Communities. so as with before, i will remain positive and look forward to a bug fix in the next update.
-thanks in advanced for reading, and any comments

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Sound issue on iphone 4 - 7.1.1

My mom has an iphone 4 that was handed down to her from my sister.  After one of the ios updates...can't remember which one...the phone stopped giving audible notifications for text messages.  As I have tried to troubleshoot this issue I have discovered the other following problems:
The phone will not play music on any speaker.  I was trying to connect the phone via bluetooth to a speaker bar and when I tried to play pandora, I got nothing.  I then disconnected the bluetooth to see if I would get sound out of the phone's speaker and got nothing.  I attempted to play a downloaded song and got nothing.
I then tried to see if I could find other issues and I did.  When I go into settings>sounds>ringtones I can switch ringtones and hear the ringtone sample.  When I go into settings>sounds>text tone, I can select any tone in the list and all I get is a vibration, no sound at all from any of them.
I also found that when pressing the volume up and down buttons on the side of the phone do not produce the pop up box that shows volume going up and down
I believe these three problems to be related as some kind of systematic software bug.  Can anyone confirm this or offer a possible solution. Keep in mind the phone does make sounds when someone calls also from the speaker phone.  The only non-sound issues are text notifications and playing music.  I find this to be a rather important problem because the phone can really no longer be used as a phone since my mom continually misses text messages because she does not get an audible notification.

  • IOS 8.1.1 - Issues with hands free (Parrot MKi9100)

    Dear Community...
I have updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1.1.  Exactly since that day I am experiencing an issue with my in-car hands free kit (Parrot MKi9100):
Normally, while the iPhone and the hands free kit are connected, whenever the iPhone makes a sound (be it phone-calls, music, notifications or the text-to-speech function), the hands free kit jumps in, muting my car radio and playing the iPhone-Sound over the car speakers.
On iOS 8.0, that would only function with phone-calls, any other sound was not transferred to the hands free kit.
On iOS 8.1, the issue was fixed, and everything worked fine.
On iOS 8.1.1 the following happens: Whenever I wake my iPhone (i.e. pressing home-button or sleep-wake button, even without unlocking the phone) the hands free kit jumps in and mutes the radio... although the iPhone is not about to make a sound... This also happens, when the iPhone is switched to silent mode. Whenever the iPhone-Display is switched on, this will mute my car radio, as if the hands free kit was awaiting a sound from the iPhone.
This makes it impossible to enjoy the car radio and using the phone (of course only the passenger will use the phone, while I'm driving... I am a responsible driver...)
But nonetheless: Is there any known fix?
@apple: If not, will this be fixed with 8.1.2?
    Thanks and best regards

  • IOS 6 Notification sound not working!!

Hi everyone, when I updated my iphone 4s to the latest version of OS meaning  IOS6, I noticed that the sound in notification is not working. Only displaying the notification. Anyone anyone else have this problem and if so how to solve it please ?

I've had exactly the same problem! Also the silent button on the side isnt working either. Calls seem to be ok, but emails sms facebook, none of those sounds work. Have you found a solution?
No I haven't. The difference is that my silent button is working and even sound when receving and email or an sms's. My issue is the sound of the notification of the applications. For example facebook, F1Live24 ..

  • IOS 5 broke sound on my 3GS!

I have an 8GB 3GS that I use as a backup phone. It has been running perfectly fine, at least until yesterday when I upgraded it to iOS 5.0.1. With the update to iOS 5 came a whole bunch of sound problems.
The following features are not working correctly since the update:
-no unlock sound (setting is active)
-no lock sound (setting is active)
-ringer volume cannot be increased/decreased with side volume buttons
-no sound when playing youtube clips or any other videos
    -no keypad clicks
When I receive a call on the phone it rings as normal, and during calls the speakerphone setting plays aloud as normal, so the speaker itself appears to be fine.
On rare occasions when the phone is unlocked it does actually make the unlock sound. When the unlock sound does actually work I can use the volume keys as normal but only for a few seconds, after which they no longer work. Once they stop working pressing them causes the below logo to be displayed
    http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s167/JonBOY26/IMG_0001.png
Putting the phone on silent causes the phone to vibrate as normal. Switching it off silent causes the current ringer volume setting to be displayed as normal, however any attempts to change the ringer volume with the volume keys cause the logo in the link above.
I've tried restoring the phone but that didn't help. I tried putting the phone into recovery mode and then restoring from there but that didn't help. 've tried restoring on PC's and on Mac's but hasn't made a difference.
Anyone else experienced this before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    "Coincidences happen."
This is no coincindence. All the sound features were working perfectly when the phone was plugged into the PC and connected to iTunes. After upgrading to iOS 5 they were no longer working. Simple as that.
Obviously the speaker, mute switch and volume buttons are not actually 'broken', as I'm 100% certain they'd work again if I could downgrade to iOS 4, however they are effectively broken under iOS 5 and since Apple doesn't let you downgrade to older iOS versions they remain effectively broken at this point in time.
Here are a couple more 'coincidences' involving an iPhone 3GS, updating to iOS 5, and broken sound functionality.

Anyways, in relation to your next question I have tried restoring the phone and setting it up as a new phone, but the problem persists. I've tried restoring the phone from a backup of my iPhone 4S (which is running iOS 5.0.1 without any sound issues) yet the problem persists.
I've noticed that if the phone has been left untouched for a while the unlock sound always works. When it does the volume buttons work also but stop working again after about 3 seconds. At that point if I lock and then unlock the phone the unlock sound doesn't work.
Once the phone is unlocked and the iOS is kicked into action there must be a background process that is launched and causing the issue. I might try turning off different phone features one by one and see if it makes a difference.

  • HP Envy 4-1215dx Sound Issues

Hi, I own an HP Envy 4-1215dx. It's a great unit overall, but I am having problems with the audio on it. From the day I took it out of the box it will randomly spew out quick bursts of buzzing/crackling/digital noise whenever I try and play some sort of media, it will appear to have stopped for a while but then start doing it again, it is quite intermitten. It does it with sound from the internet such as youtube, playing MP3's, and even in Games. It is extremely irritating and I need to find a solution. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and have had no luck. Doing a quick google search, I found out that there are several other people with the same problem, yet the only answer they get back is to reinstall the drivers. I have done this already and it does not fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello Livingedge,
I understand that the driver is an older version. This is the version that is available for your specific product on the HP Driver & Software page. I have been able to locate a driver that is also IDT, but the release date is 2013-09-30. I have included that driver here for you 'IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver'.
If this driver fails to resolve the sound issue, I would keep an eye on the 'HP Driver & Software' page. This is where if and any updates are available, will be provided here.
    Thank you.

  • IOS 8.1+ Performance Issue

    Hello,
I encountered a serious performance bug in Adobe Air iOS application on devices running iOS 8.1 or later. Approximately in 1-2 minutes fps drops to 7 or lower without interacting with the app. This is very noticeable in the app. The app looks like frozen for about 0.5 seconds. The bug doesn't appear on every session.
Devices tested: iPad Mini iOS 8.1.1, iPhone 6 iOS 8.2. iPod Touch 4 iOS 6 is working correctly.
Air SDK versions: 15 and 17 tested.
I can track the bug using Adobe Scout. There is a noticeable spike on frame time 1.16. Framerate drops to 7.0. The App spends much time on function Runtime overhead. Sometimes the top activity is Running AS3 attached to frame or Waiting For Next Frame instead of Runtime overhead.
The bug can be reproduced on an empty application having a one bitmap on stage. Open the app and wait for two minutes and the bug should appear. If not, just close and relaunch the app.

  • Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:  First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services".

Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:
First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services".  I'm not sure what this really means...
The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC".  Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?  An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time.  Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music.  I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
    Anyone have any ideas?

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it.
